    An Update:
During our work meeting, it was announced that new approach states that MRSA & VRE should no longer be considered under contact precautions and should just be under standard precautions as MRSA & VRE is the new norm. I am not sure how it’s being taught in nursing schools now or if the NCLEX has recognized that yet. I wanted to add this information because I know my video has a picture of the isolation categories.

Hospitals in CA haven't been isolating for those MDROs since 2013. What state are you in???

Hello I’m looking forward to be a nurse. I’m starting school to get my bachelors in nursing. Did you start this job after finishing your bachelors in nursing or you had to do a program or another school

Wow... THis is late... MRSA/VRE taken out of contact precautions, in LA... Way back in 2013. Super late... 6:1 - I don't know how yall do it, Your state needs ratios!

This is actually one of the best DIL nursing videos I've seen. There is so much clutter in some other people's videos where it turns into "what they eat" "what they're feeling at every single moment." This actually SHOWED exactly what is going on during your shift.

WOW.....this is the absolute bomb !!! You totally NAILED it with your video "tasks" throughout your shift! I can completely say this is what nursing REALLY IS ON A MED/SURG UNIT!!!
YOUR narrative was excellent....please do more of these as I retired from nursing after 28 years of MS, PCU, and lastly 14 years in the ER of a Level I inner city trauma center in Denver, CO (Denver Health Medical Center).
I needed an excellent video to show my MS clinical students what an RN does for real on a MS unit as Now I am, and have been a Clinical Instructor "on the side" for 27 years!!!! I FINALLY FOUND WHAT I NEEDED FROM YOU!!!
YOU SEEM LIKE AN EXCELLENT RN ESPECIALLY BEING A NEW GRAD!!! CONGRATULATIONS !!!

@Swimming Dolphins I was only there fr 2 months. I ended up getting a position on L&D floor. It’s a lot at first and overwhelming, but you learn so much! Some nurses go for 6months-2yrs get their experience and bounce. Some Nurses stay on Med Surg their whole career. Depends on what you like but I think it’s good to start on Med Surg if you want to go into a specialty(ICU,ER,Surgery) even if it’s only for 6 months

Such an accurate representation of Med-Surg nursing! I have been working on a med-surg floor for about 1 year as a nurse extern and I can truly say I learned so much about time management, staying organized, and how to deal with challenges thrown your way.
(Call light get so crazyyyyy during the day on my floor lol)
Thank you for sharing your day!

I worked as a cna at a rehab and nursing home. To see a nurse getting a new resident's tray and not leaving for a CNA is an alien concept to me lol. You rockbas a nurse! Although, i did have nurses who worked together with us CNA's. We all had vitals to do, but we CNA's often picked up some of the nurse's vitals in exchange for a task we needed their help with. Those were the nurses I loved working with we were a team. I have much resoect for people in the healthcare field who are actually in it to help patients (their are the corrupt ones too) They (the good ones) are the heroes. You look like one of the good ones. Your video is no nonsense and very informative, and you already have your flow down as a new grad. It usually takes at least 6 months for a nurse or CNA to feel like they've got it and you're handling straight out of the gate. God bless as you care for others!

how long do you have to stay in each floor for? idk if i worded this right

    • @thekristineway

@@user-zf4yz2iu9s At least 6 months then people start transferring to a different unit! All depends on the hospital though. Some new grad programs require 1 year on that unit
