@@AvianR yep. I’ve only been a nurse for over 4 years. I did a year of travel too. Moved to Florida which pays awful but my remote job pays a lot more. I love it.

Thank you for what you do, I’m a ex navy hospital corpsman 14 yrs so I know about medicine, I just had back surgery in nov, and when they get me in the door of the operating room, the first thing I do is say hi to everyone, and ask if everyone is feeling good and in a good mood, then to turn on the radio or music to what ever will make them happy, if they are happy, then my surgery will be ok and that’s how I roll

@@Ashley-og9ti the reason I become RN is that I have more options in the future, I can work anywhere, CST is great job, but you can only work in OR or surgery center, not many options, standing for a long hour cases is difficult too! Just saw your channel on my recommendation page and love your content! Me and my family will soon be travelling to Texas for an OR job and this eases some of the unknown especially with the OR setting you guys got there. More vlogs and updates from your channel maam!
Thank you! I tried to share as much as I could. I definitely picked a good day to vlog since cases were not as intense. Some days it could get pretty hectic
Thanks for sharing! Love that the video is positive and you enjoy your work. Very happy for you. Hope you don't mind me pointing this out....not trying to be picky.....nails should be kept short and free of nail polish as they (nails and chipped polish) harbour germs and may tear gloves. This is important especially when one is a scrub nurse.

just came across your channel and love how in-depth and cheery this was! :) I'm really in between starting out bedside nursing in a progressive or critical care unit or starting an OR residency. are there typically a lot of younger, new nurses in the OR? I've been told it is usually more of a senior nurse realm and I'm worried i won't meet coworkers that i relate with or in the same phase as me as a new nurse
What city is this ? It's so nice and smooth the workflow. In new york city it's crazy working in the O.R. it's like all they care about it turnover time.
This video is so helpful. I am preparing to be an OR international nurse, so I wonder how to ask for a circulating nurse when I need sterile supplies as a scrub nurse. for example, “Can i have gloves number 7?” I’m not sure of the exact phrasing😂
Glad you found this helpful! I love this question ahaha. We just say “Can I get a (size), (type/brand of glove) glove.” For example, if I needed size 7 Biogel gloves, I just say “can I get 7 Biogels” or “can I get 7 Biogel gloves”
Hi I just found your channel and was wondering if you work in Houston, Texas. As I’m a born and raised Texan I recognized downtown and was curious which hospital you work at. My cousin is a trauma nurse at Ben Taub.
You and your team seem to get along so well. I’ve heard the OR attracts a certain type of person and bullying is common. Have you even experienced this? I’m starting nursing school and want to work OR one day but I hear the personalities you encounter make it a difficult environment.
Thank you! I definitely took into consideration the kind of team I’ll be in when I was choosing my service. Hello, I'm a nurse from Europe. What is the difference between OR nurses, and surgical technologists ? (we don't have surgical technologists in Europe)
Hi! The main differences are the roles and responsibilities they take on in the OR. Surgical techs are trained to handle the tasks required mainly for scrubbing in the OR, whereas OR nurses are able to scrub and circulate. (I’ll try to make a more in-depth video differentiating the two roles)
@@BellaUnfiltered Thank you so much, in France scrub nurses are getting paid more because they have more training than circulating nurses. To become a scrub nurse, you need a master's degree, otherwise you can only circulate in the OR.
I’d say it’s worth it. Surgery can be intense but it can also be really fascinating. So sometimes being involved in a cool procedure makes up for any physical or emotional toll the day brings
