  • Hey guys, I wanted to give you insight on what a day in the life of a Nurse Tech/CNA at the hospital is like. It's very different from being at a nursing home and although this video doesn't really allow me to truly show things that go on because of HIPPA but its some insight. When did you get used to all the work? When i first worked as a CNA i cried in the restroom because i was overwhelmed. No one told me about the 'environment ' or how rounds work.. I learned myself though.

    • @TheTwinDiaries
      @TheTwinDiaries  6 ปีที่แล้ว +37

      It took me a month working two to three shifts a week before i felt comfortable and was able to get a handle on time management and how to plan my day. Granted some days are just a lot harder than others depending the the patients..

    Creative video. I’m a newly licensed CNA in North Carolina in the process of applying to a hospital. I thought of doing home care but everyone is telling hospitals are better

    • @TheTwinDiaries
      @TheTwinDiaries  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I did home care as a CNA and i prefer the hospital but home care is harder and easier at the same time. It’s harder because your by yourself so if a pt is heavy it’s hard on your body but since it’s one patient it’s less demanding

    May I ask, do you make more at the hospital than a nursing home? I just interviewed today for a CNA position at a hospital but haven’t gotten to pay talk yet! Thanks!

    • @TheTwinDiaries
      @TheTwinDiaries  6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Yeah usually they send a offer with what their willing to pay you. But, I think it depends what hospital and area you’re working in’s Rural areas pay more and also for example the med center in Houston pays more than the suburb areas which is where I’m working. Cause i know a lot of nurse techs getting paid more than me but they’re at a hospital in the med center. Also nursing homes do offer more money as well because people are less inclined to work there so it makes people want to work there given the pay. A lot of CNAs took a pay cut to come work at my hospital from the nursing home.

    • @TheTwinDiaries
      @TheTwinDiaries  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Nurse Tech usually has extra training to be able to do more in the hospital but it’s the same thing as a CNA. Nurse techs just help perform other skills to assist the nurses like drawing labs, checking blood sugars, transporting pts, taking out IVs etc.

    • @biancasmith3906
      @biancasmith3906 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Twin Diaries love your videos, I can’t wait to start my CNA class by feb 11. Question please, CNA and PCT do they have different certifications? Because like I learned from the school I enrolled in , that PCT has gat more nursing practice than CNA which is just like basic . I was made to understand that some PCT classes are not done in CNA , is this correct? Please I need to know before paying to study either of them of them or paying for them differently as its has it’s different price to study each of them. I don’t know if I’m making sense but the question is can I get the same value of pct class from a CNA class? Thanks 🙏

    I’ve just become a Phlebotomist been in a Nursing Home & CNA for 2yrs. I’ve out grown the Rehab environment ,there’s nothing more to learn or no growth unless a new Nurse comes in & wiling to answer my questions.

    Hi there...I'm new to ur Channel and also I just recently passed my CNA class on June 14 and I'm now applying to a few places. I'm new to this career all together from being an Executive Assistant and Office Manager. I decided to do this so that I could help take care of my mom. I wanted to ask u about working in a hospital. I had an interview about a week or so ago and they didn't really have a position at that time but the Nurse Manager said that he may have me do PRN as a PCT and o wanted to ask u about how much more ur are to learn? I was thinking that it'd be better to work in a hospital because ur exposed to much more than in a nursing home? How do u go about remembering ur first few rounds so that u can chart? Do u make note of it for when u can? Thanks so much in advance and this video may have been made a while back but it's new to me. 😉

      awww yay! I would def write down everything when your first start so you don’t miss anything when charting, as you get more comfortable you begin to remember things and only have to write certain things down. If i was you after each round I would sit down and chart. So you’re not trying to play catch up at the end

      The Twin Diaries Thank u VM for that. I'm going to definitely do that so that I don't forget something important and I'll be taking as many notes as I can. I am praying that I can catch on quick. I think at first it may be a PRN position which I guess is a good thing and a foot in the door. Thanks again and have a good evening! 😉

      In Texas that’s not the case. But, I do understand that’s the case in other states. In Texas in order to be a PCA, PCT, Nurse Tech you have to be a CNA and then they expand on your knowledge when they hire you. But as a CNA in Texas i believe the shortest program is 4 or 5 weeks and it’s all day M-F because you need a certain amount of hours to even sit for the test.

      Depends where you live. In FL many PCT programs are only 3 months. Some are 6

      Yes we can wear jewelry! But if there is a chance of us getting something on it while taking care of patients we take it off.
