I actually found two shinies in a single Dynamax Adventure, being a Luxray and a Yveltal. This was also on my Normal Type Nuzlocke run of shield so I couldn't even use the Yveltal (It's just sitting in the box currently)
You forgot one, or technically two, In HeartGold & SoulSilver, you can actually see whether the starter Pokémon is Shiny before picking it. This means you can get all three shiny and only get to pick one.
I mention this at the end, under “common uncatchables” where there are instances (I didn’t list all of them, only a few) where you can find multiple shinies.

As a kid, i found a shiny aggron in the hgss/platinum (i think specifically platinum?) battle factory Its one of the reasons why aggron is one of my favorite pokemon and favorite shinies, and i was lucky enough to reclaim it a few years back!
Love the video. The uncatchable shinies I've gotten were the beginning zigzagoon and a shiny vileplume on the battle frontier, both on emerald. One thing, the colosseum shiny ISN't Uncachable. Since the PID of the pokemon gets locked in the first time you see it, but your opponent gets a new TID/SID in the second battle according to RNG seeds, there's six options 1: First battle, not shiny for opponent, not shiny for you (most common) 2: First battle, not shiny for opponent, shiny for you (1/8192 chance for your TIS/SID) 3: Second battle, not shiny for opponent, not shiny for you (most common) 4: Second battle, not shiny for opponent, shiny for you (1/8192 chance for your TID/SID. if you had caught it in the first battle it'd have been shiny as well) 5: Second battle, shiny for opponent, not shiny for you (1/8192 chance for your opponent's new TID/SID, but you were locked out of a shiny) 6: Second battle, shiny for opponent, shiny for you. (1/8192 chance for both your and your opponent's TID/SID, since both of you need to shiny check that's a 1/8192 * 1/8192 = 1/67108864 chance) TL:DR It is possible, but the chance is ONE in 67,108,864 AND the chance is locked since the first time you see the pokemon, so it'll always be shiny for you regardless if this happens. The extra luck comes from it being shiny for your opponent as well.
I addressed this in another comment, however due to the complexity of the topic and due to the fact that this video is intended for a wider audience, I didn’t go into much detail like you had. This is also why I linked the other video by OlIver_MKP. I did know this was this case, I researched this video for 7 months, but again, for simplicity reasons, I didn’t go into a huge amount of detail. Excellent detail though!
When I was like, 10-ish, I was playing Leaf Green and was grinding my starter in the grass to Viridian before grabbing Oak’s Parcel. I found a shiny Ratatta before I had access to purchase Pokéballs. It’s still the only (un-hunted) full-odds shiny i’ve ever come across in all my years playing Pokémon since I was like 5.
I was in the Battle Factory when a guy sent out a shiny Uncatchable Mr.Mime. It was a swagger psych up setup with a liechi berry and an Adamant nature. After that I ended up losing the round soon after with it, but it was so cool to use, even for a short while
Great video! I assume you were only including RNG based shinies, however I'm pretty sure pokemon Crystal has a battle tower where in one of the available challenges a trainer is guaranteed to have a shiny espeon. Wanted to let you and everyone know.
At the end you forgot in Gen 2 when your active box is filled up, you can't catch pokemon, so even if you hacked in 999 Master Ball, you still wouldn't be able to catch a shiny you'd encounter.
I have encountered the shiny zigzagoon in Wally's catching tutorial in Emerald. Which also happened to be my first playthrough of a pokemon game ever. I at the time didn't know it was shiny until my friends who were watching started freaking out about it.
If we wanna get technical, we can include some instances in the Gen 1 games since while shinies do not appear in those games, the way shiny Pokémon are determined in Gen 2 allows for Gen 1 Pokémon to be shiny if they have the right DVs. Catching tutorial and ghost Marowak from RBY most likely have the chance to spawn with the DVs that would make them shiny upon being transferred, but that is simply something that can not be known to be a shiny without some sort of external tool and/or glitch.
there is a bug (of course) in the way wild pokemon are generated that prevents the DV spread that would allow them to be shiny there are exceptions, like fishing encounters and legendaries though, so I don't know if these two would be affected by the glitch or not
Such a dope video! I've been wondering myself about all the uncatchable shinies and I didnt know a lot of these! Not sure how much this counts, but in some of the Demos, you can find and catch shinies, however, since they're Demos, you can never truly keep them. Again, great video! Must have taken a lot of work!
For the demos, I only didn’t include them cause technically you do own the pokemon at some point, but they get wiped when you reset the game. Bit of a grey area really, but for sure one I definitely considered putting in the video. Thanks for watching! :)
THAT DAMN POOCHYENA!! First and only shiny I encountered by full odds for YEARS broke my little 10 year old heart. I stared at the screen looking at it for an hour and showed everybody. It hurt. That should've never been able to be shiny ugh
I mean, there is also that SMALL part of Gen 2 where you have your starter but no pokeballs. And are free to go into the wild grass. Same goes for any entry in the series that has this.
This reminds me of my second shiny ever, when I was playing through gen2, when I just got my starter and went to the tall grass the literal FIRST encounter was a shiny sentret
I remember being a young kid playing Platinum and seeing a trainer in one of the facilities send out a shiny Cacnea. I had no idea it was random chance. I just assumed some trainers had predetermined shiny Pokémon on their team, like the Espeon on R/S/E.
One of the first ever shinies I saw and recognized was a shiny starly in Pokemon Diamond.... it was uncatchable, but not because it was the first starly fight. No, I encountered it WHILE WALKING TO GET POKEBALLS IN THE FIRST TOWN. 😅 Ever since then I've been oh so salty about that one specific starting patch of grass.
That gen 2 shiny hoothoot sprite at 1:27 was a jump scare, since I experienced that uncatchable shiny myself less then a month ago. Why did they make the trek to Mr. Pokémon’s house so long? 😭
my first and only shiny encounter I've ever had run into before gen 6 was in Fire Red. I grabbed Oaks parcel from the PokeMart, ran down to pallet town, and on the last row of grass, i ran into a Rattata. IT WAS SHINY AND I WAS A SCRIPTED EVENT AWAY FROM GETTING POKEBALLS :'(
Encountered only one uncatchable which was a route shiny starly in D/P before getting pokéballs which made me super cautious whenever i start a new game to get pokéballs ASAP and minimize the encounters needed to get to that point. Also honorable mention to gen 2 PC mechanics. If a box is full in gen 1 and 2, the game won't allow you to catch pokémon (transfering to an empty box is a feature from gen 3 and onwards). So encountering a pokémon with a full party and a full box will have the game prevent you from catching more pokémon until you either have an empty slot in your party or switch to a box which isn't full. This means you can create a scenario where you are prevented from catching shiny pokémon, which actually isn't unreasonable to recreate since the box limit is also 20 as opposed to 30 (unless you are JP). While i was never caught out by this for shinies, it did cause me to fail nuzlocke encounters on multiple occasions when playing gen 1 and 2 games.
When playing Pokémon Scarlet/Violet, cutscenes can start playing seemingly randomly when nearing a Team Star base for example. I found a shiny during my playthrough and when i started running towards it, a cutscene started and despawned the nearby pokémon. TECHNICALLY not uncatchable, but very very unlucky
i have encountered a shiny ditto block, the funnier thing is i was talking about it being a possibility to the friends i was doing bbq's with when it happened literally right after
I once had a horde encounter in X with a bunch of Geodudes in Victory Road, and one was shiny. They then proceeded to spam Magnitude… The shiny died to friendly fire on turn one, and there was nothing I could do about it. This was extra painful for me, as it was somehow the first legit chance-based shiny I had ever encountered, even though I’d been playing since gen2. Even with the multitudes of shinies I’ve gotten since, I’m still mad about it. :/
imagine finding a shiny in the spaceworld gold demo not only is it the ultimate uncatchble since you don't even have the game, nobody would believe you it even exists it technically happened to me when we were first doccumenting them

17:59 I....You know what, this pretty much checks out for the evolution for the god Pokemon Tbh, the only shiny pains I had was not catching a shiny Metang in the Safari zone that only shows up in the post-game (forgot which game though) and missing a shiny G-Max Hatterene from a raid den I joined through the portal. I since avenged myself from hunting both these Pokemon in outbreaks in Pokemon Violet (in the form of Beldum and Hattem). But man it sucked at the time

Generation 7 Sun and Moon/Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon has a QR scanner in which you can scan any shiny Pokémon but cannot be obtainable although it can be seen in the Pokédex
The reason these weren’t in the video is because when scanned, they will always be shiny, which I mentioned in the intro. But cool fact!
I actually found two shinies in a single Dynamax Adventure, being a Luxray and a Yveltal. This was also on my Normal Type Nuzlocke run of shield so I couldn't even use the Yveltal (It's just sitting in the box currently)
I once found a shiny Zigzagoon on my way to battle May with my starter... before I could even get Poke Balls. I was so upset.
@ oh ok I saw your other replies too so I even went back to check the time stamps, but ok, it would have been cool to see that clip of the there of them shiny, thanks for clarifying though
As a kid, i found a shiny aggron in the hgss/platinum (i think specifically platinum?) battle factory
Its one of the reasons why aggron is one of my favorite pokemon and favorite shinies, and i was lucky enough to reclaim it a few years back!
I had the Starly show up as shiny when I did try Shiny Hunting Piplup in BDSP.
Love the video. The uncatchable shinies I've gotten were the beginning zigzagoon and a shiny vileplume on the battle frontier, both on emerald.
One thing, the colosseum shiny ISN't Uncachable. Since the PID of the pokemon gets locked in the first time you see it, but your opponent gets a new TID/SID in the second battle according to RNG seeds, there's six options
1: First battle, not shiny for opponent, not shiny for you (most common)
2: First battle, not shiny for opponent, shiny for you (1/8192 chance for your TIS/SID)
3: Second battle, not shiny for opponent, not shiny for you (most common)
4: Second battle, not shiny for opponent, shiny for you (1/8192 chance for your TID/SID. if you had caught it in the first battle it'd have been shiny as well)
5: Second battle, shiny for opponent, not shiny for you (1/8192 chance for your opponent's new TID/SID, but you were locked out of a shiny)
6: Second battle, shiny for opponent, shiny for you. (1/8192 chance for both your and your opponent's TID/SID, since both of you need to shiny check that's a 1/8192 * 1/8192 = 1/67108864 chance)
TL:DR It is possible, but the chance is ONE in 67,108,864 AND the chance is locked since the first time you see the pokemon, so it'll always be shiny for you regardless if this happens.
1:40 the catching tutorial back sprite looks scuffed, like something a fan game would have
The best uncatchable pokemon is the friends we made along the way 😊
ayeee JFlash banger
I love my uncatchable Shiny Corsola that I found in Pokemon Stadium 2 and my uncatchable shiny Cresselia from Battle Revolution
8:39 oh my goodness whoomp there it is!!!
12:55 there it is again!
I briefly had an uncatchable shiny Luxio while playing Battle Revolution as a kid.
@@hawktalon7890 Which battle facility?
@@TheSalamanderMenace4 I think it was the first one? Honestly not quite sure but that sounds about right, it was years ago.
Well uh, this is awkward. 1:04 But yep, only RNG based shinies.
@JFlash727 Ah my apologies. I must have missed that segment.
At the end you forgot in Gen 2 when your active box is filled up, you can't catch pokemon, so even if you hacked in 999 Master Ball, you still wouldn't be able to catch a shiny you'd encounter.
Amazing video also you will get to 7k by the end of the year trust 🤞
I have encountered the shiny zigzagoon in Wally's catching tutorial in Emerald. Which also happened to be my first playthrough of a pokemon game ever. I at the time didn't know it was shiny until my friends who were watching started freaking out about it.
If we wanna get technical, we can include some instances in the Gen 1 games since while shinies do not appear in those games, the way shiny Pokémon are determined in Gen 2 allows for Gen 1 Pokémon to be shiny if they have the right DVs. Catching tutorial and ghost Marowak from RBY most likely have the chance to spawn with the DVs that would make them shiny upon being transferred, but that is simply something that can not be known to be a shiny without some sort of external tool and/or glitch.
there is a bug (of course) in the way wild pokemon are generated that prevents the DV spread that would allow them to be shiny
there are exceptions, like fishing encounters and legendaries though, so I don't know if these two would be affected by the glitch or not
Such a dope video!
@JFlash727 yeah I agree with your decision, much respect on the thorough research 🙏
You can only keep one shiny if you find multiple shiny Pokémon in the Bug-Catching Contest in the Johto games (GSC/HGSS).
Ah, very cool!
Advanced methods of torture in the Pokemon world
Horde encounters in X and Y can sometimes have multiple shinies.
@@singsongsign I mention this at the end of the video yup
@@JFlash727 I guess I missed that.
THAT DAMN POOCHYENA!! First and only shiny I encountered by full odds for YEARS broke my little 10 year old heart. I stared at the screen looking at it for an hour and showed everybody. It hurt. That should've never been able to be shiny ugh
In the ultra games, you can encounter a shiny before the proffessor even gives you pokeballs, this happened to me..........
I swear to god, literally my first encounter on my brilliant diamond was a shiny bidoof. I was...speechless
In case anyone was curious, the odds of both Norman’s Zigzagoon and Wally’s Ralts being shiny at the same time are *one in 67,108,864.*
Ever since then I've been oh so salty about that one specific starting patch of grass.
Babe, wake up! New JFlash video just dropped!!
Check your magikarp jump anyways, coward.
i think this video blessed me because i found a shiny smoliv while i was watching it omg
I once found a shiny Raticate on a battle CD in XD Gale of Darkness! And the Bunnelby at the beginning of X and Y!
I once found a Shiny Pokemon in Pokémon Violet, it was a green Pelipper, but it was flying so I couldn't catch it and I was so disappointed 😂
That gen 2 shiny hoothoot sprite at 1:27 was a jump scare, since I experienced that uncatchable shiny myself less then a month ago. Why did they make the trek to Mr. Pokémon’s house so long? 😭
Your video gave me anxiety. So i guess you did a great job showing and explaining. 😂❤
YESSS MAGIKARP JUMP MENTION LETS GOOO
my first and only shiny encounter I've ever had run into before gen 6 was in Fire Red. I grabbed Oaks parcel from the PokeMart, ran down to pallet town, and on the last row of grass, i ran into a Rattata. IT WAS SHINY AND I WAS A SCRIPTED EVENT AWAY FROM GETTING POKEBALLS :'(
Amazing video loved it!
When i was shiny hunting before, i understood how it actually works i encountered that shiny poch twice...
As someone who has watched a certain TH-camr go for uncatchable shines, I thought I knew about every uncatchable shiny.
When I play my first time Pokemon Black, the minccino from the professor was shiny on both times she used it :'D
i have encountered a shiny ditto block, the funnier thing is i was talking about it being a possibility to the friends i was doing bbq's with when it happened literally right after
If you take a shot every time he says chance of it happening, you'll die from alcohol poisoning.
LMAO I should totally try this (this would be a horrible idea)
Also, if you have trouble pronouncing the number, it’s pronounced like this: One in Eight-thousand one-hundred eighty-two.
@@KevinTheFluffyWolfy you mean ninety-two? 💀
imagine finding a shiny in the spaceworld gold demo
not only is it the ultimate uncatchble since you don't even have the game, nobody would believe you it even exists
it technically happened to me when we were first doccumenting them
>> Leaf Green >> on the way to get Oak's Parcel >> Shiny Pidgey...
it hurts me still to this very day lmao
Majikarp jump is also the only instance where u are forced to release a shiny
I was going through the Battle Tower in Platinum years ago, and one of the opponents I faced had a shiny Wartortle...no one in my friend group believed me when it happened, but at least I know I'm not crazy since this video kinda justified why I saw it...I was just super unlucky...🤣
17:59
I....You know what, this pretty much checks out for the evolution for the god Pokemon
Tbh, the only shiny pains I had was not catching a shiny Metang in the Safari zone that only shows up in the post-game (forgot which game though) and missing a shiny G-Max Hatterene from a raid den I joined through the portal. I since avenged myself from hunting both these Pokemon in outbreaks in Pokemon Violet (in the form of Beldum and Hattem). But man it sucked at the time
18:20
on my first playthrough of PLA, I kept restarting at the temple cause I heard the sparkle, that explains it -_-
I lost a shiny Cyndaquil in Pokémon Sleep because my Pokémon GO Plus+ got two sessions instead of one at it skipped the second one cookie phase...
I got to see the Cyndaquil in the recap photo
I got the shiny with juniper on the opening screen to a new game.
I was so devastated haha 🤣
I think it wouldve been funny if you claimed your friend using a Synchro Shiny as an uncatchable lmao
Fun fact you can catch the Starly in BDSP in version 1.0 using a glitch thay allows you to go up a ledge and buy pokeballs early!
I mentioned this at the end of the video!
I’m still really grateful that on my shiny Turtwig hunt in BD, I never ran into the uncatchable Shiny Starly… I would’ve been so heartbroken.
(607 Resets, for anyone wondering)
Pokemon in RBY can have characteristics that make them shiny if transferred.
I wouldn't be surprised if the catching tutorial Weedle could have the shiny potential.
Yup this is right! Just didn’t include it cause yknow, it’s more of a technicality, since shiny pokemon didn’t even exist yet
Years and years ago my younger brother found a shiny Plusle in the Emerald Battle Pyramid.
TIL I saw a caught shadow Pokémon and didn’t realize it was shiny until this video
That one damn tentacool from one of my fire red playthroughs
kinda reminds me how over 1/3 of all pokemon can be obtained without ever throwing a pokeball ( if only i could record it would be fun to make )
i recently had the cinccino happen to me. wasn't even mad, was awesome. XD
*Goes into explaining that Shadow Pokemon are shiny-locked in their first encounter,*
4:04
*Shows Gonzap's Skarmory being shiny at Relgam Tower, the first place you battle him*
Rematch battles happen in the same location lol
