This area also has the effect of resetting Mario's state to falling, meaning that for some captures, this state change will also uncapture and destroy the enemy!
That Wiggler segment was insane. Turning its greatest weakness (vertical mobility) into its greatest strength using the funniest-looking glitch SMO has to offer. Legendary.

Genuine props to the editor for doing this well on a video this long. You’d assume that something of this length would have a lot of (justifiable) corners cut, but this video maintains a steady level of editing quality throughout.
Remember fir's level building and beating competition against smant and cj? Remember when amy was surprised that fir knows about the frog having a specific boolean for moon gravity? Now we know why he knew. It's insane to see that this video was in progress while fir recorded those competitions, considering how long ago the competition videos came out. Great work! 4 and a half hours of cleanly edited entertainment!
“Can they beat goku?” Is simple, outdated, basic “Can they do snowdram?” Unexpected, focuses on things other than strength, new discussion, overall way better 1:22:02 this movement reminds me of the movement in Celeste

I think CJ did a video for this, actually. Something like every possible moon without capturing, or every possible moon in a min cap run? Something like that. It was fun. There was also the "Cappy doesn't exist" video that Fir made once. It was hard for him to get through some areas.
If we allow the full moveset for Mario (including Cap bounces), I'd say that still goes safely into the 300s, probably 400s if we allow CRCs for the 2 player score. There is a 3 caps route to darker side established (cj has a video on it), so the question then becomes how much of that would become unavailable due to this ruleset. The things I can think of on the spot are Ruined becomes inaccessible, so does Bowser's except for CRCs, Moon Cave will be mostly off limits, and of course the singular moons with required captures here and there. But I wouldn't expect this to cut down the 500 moon score by more that 200 (100 if we allow CRCs). Of course that's just an intuitive prediction and could be horribly wrong, but I'm quite confident with it.
I love the fact that watching this video twice in one sitting takes pretty much the same amount of time as Fir spent on ONE capture in this whole video.
The amount of work that went into this video is insane??? A 4 hour, well edited, narrated, video with full gameplay? All of the stats tracked?? One and two player mode variations??? Insane dedication for sometime so silly, I totally respect it
The goomba momentum jump is a great summation of why i love oddly specific challenge videos. This would not be useful in any other context and yet here, a strange combination of set pieces and unintended game mechanics add up to a very cool trick!
Same with the Shiverian mega jump. It's utterly useless unless you get the capture somewhere it could never be legitimately, but it's an extremely fun looking exploit.
@dyslectic Yeah unfortunately even though it could very much allow early access to many painting moons, allowing for sequence breaks similar to CRC without requiring 2p...it's also only in 4 (5?) rooms in the game, with no way to escape any of them as that capture, all of them in snow kingdom, and two of them being the racetracks.
Shiveria has anti-sport competition laws preventing any athletes other than track and field athletes in. Thus, Charging Chuck, as a football player, is executed on sight. Hope this helps! (Mario is allowed in other outfits solely because of his proven performance in races)

i use this video to go to sleep. genuinely going through a rough time rn and Fir's narration throughout the video really lifts my mood and makes me forget about the events of the day. i've listened to it in the evening every day since it came out, and even replay it to pull me out of post-nightmare shaking. genuinely can't thank you and your editor enough for making this
I use TH-cam videos to go to sleep and it sounds like such an insult but I don't mean it as one. Quite the opposite. It has to be a very long video I've watched and enjoyed over and over again but still holds my attention somewhat. And their voice has to be calming. Typical white noise videos don't work that well for me.
"Can You Feel The Sunshine?" being the meme for the height grind in this video will never get old. You should keep it for future videos for any grindy moment, high-key lmao. Even if it was just as a 2 second flash cameo in the vein of the Ultra Instinct intro meme, it'd get a laugh out of me 100% of the time.
The wiggler one made me laugh because as soon as I saw it, I went "Didn't CJ accidentally gain height as a wiggler in one of Fir's escape room videos?"
Can I just say how much I appreciate the lil scoreboard bits / capture intro cards being in tempo with the music. Also the little animated text for those cards is wonderful too

We talked a lot behind the scenes before either came out. We mutually agreed are vids were different enough and I gave him access to the tool I was using when he learned what I was making. Dude was the goat and held off on uploading his vid for a while so that I have more time to finish mine as a thanks for letting him use the tool.

FIR this video is fucking amazing. Watched the whole thing straight and barely in the background too (I watched the whole thing attentively!). Such incredible editing and pacing, and the scripting was so on point. You kept it so interesting. Also- I LOVE ALL THE SWABLU PLUSHES!!!!
A couple from Falc's video I learned. 1. For any capture that couldn't move the seeds in Sand Kingdom (I think there were a few?) you can scare the sheep into moving them for you 2. You can get a non-controlled uproot to lift the platform in Wooded for captures with Uproot-level jumps to get "The Nut in the Red Maze" (at least, I saw this discussed in his comment section) Good luck if you decide to do this!

Also Im not sure if the seed’s despawn timer would be reset by the sheep running into it but it could at least help with the town seed. 2. Im not sure where people learned that but uncaptured Uproots can not push up the Uproot platforms so that wouldnt work. Ill give you an update once I try getting the seeds with the Typhoo in 1P.

I think we need to see "hide and seek" with the RC car capture. Maybe give it a small jump but even without a jump it would be a super cool hide and seek game.
I would love to see how many moons are possible using only captures. Getting all the moons that were unique to specific captures to see what is the absolute most moons you could get only using captures! Much love Fir! This was a blast to watch!
I guess just take the Gushins score since it got the highest total, and then add the number of moons that other captures managed to get that it didn’t.

I would really love to see a follow-up video showing how many Day Metro moons each capture could get if they actually could beat Mecha Wiggler. It's sad that the game's flagship kingdom is almost completely absent from this challenge.

RC car has huge multiplayer game potential. Imagine turning odyssey into mario kart??? Also smaller captures like that would be great to mix up hide and seek. When you're smaller there are so many new places to hide, and capture inabilities just give the players more restrictions to try and work around.

I am very happy you actually took the time out to write voiceovers for 4+ hours of lines, including graphics, and actually made a public activity updated spreadsheet! After finishing this video I have to say it is quite possible the best super Mario odyssey video ever made. Great concept, execution, pacing, ordering, delivery and so so much more. Amazing job.

3:05:10 doesn't that just mean that technically the moon frog is an entirely different capture and you should do the entire thing over again with moon frog instead?
I think this would be a fair interpretation, but I decided to keep things simple and say when a frog is in moon kingdom the game intends it to have moon gravity.
Judging by the custom level race Fir did with Smant, the moon gravity is a variable change on the same capture, plus the capture list in-game only lists the frog once.
I may or may not have watched the entire thing, it was fascinating to see which captures could do which and am a big fan of the ranking list at the end of each part (and the spreadsheet). Can’t imagine how much work went into this lol, huge congrats on finishing it!

A couple from Falc's video I learned.
1. For any capture that couldn't move the seeds in Sand Kingdom (I think there were a few?) you can scare the sheep into moving them for you
2. You can get a non-controlled uproot to lift the platform in Wooded for captures with Uproot-level jumps to get "The Nut in the Red Maze" (at least, I saw this discussed in his comment section)

1. I think thatd only help with Typhoo in 1P but Ill try it out. Also Im not sure if the seed’s despawn timer would be reset by the sheep running into it but it could at least help with the town seed.
2. Im not sure where people learned that but uncaptured Uproots can not push up the Uproot platforms so that wouldnt work.

I think we need to see "hide and seek" with the RC car capture. Maybe give it a small jump but even without a jump it would be a super cool hide and seek game.

Major issue is that mario’s actor is tied to the controller man and bot the csr itself. I doubt hide and seek would work properly for it

I guess just take the Gushins score since it got the highest total, and then add the number of moons that other captures managed to get that it didn’t.

RC car has huge multiplayer game potential. Imagine turning odyssey into mario kart??? Also smaller captures like that would be great to mix up hide and seek. When you're smaller there are so many new places to hide, and capture inabilities just give the players more restrictions to try and work around.
Your editing made this video super enjoyable and fun to watch! I am very happy you actually took the time out to write voiceovers for 4+ hours of lines, including graphics, and actually made a public activity updated spreadsheet! Not many people actually take the time for these little things and puts you super high among my personal favorite TH-camrs nowadays. Amazing work!!

After finishing this video I have to say it is quite possible the best super Mario odyssey video ever made. Great concept, execution, pacing, ordering, delivery and so so much more. Amazing job.

3:05:10 doesn't that just mean that technically the moon frog is an entirely different capture and you should do the entire thing over again with moon frog instead?
I think this would be a fair interpretation, but I decided to keep things simple and say when a frog is in moon kingdom the game intends it to have moon gravity.
Judging by the custom level race Fir did with Smant, the moon gravity is a variable change on the same capture, plus the capture list in-game only lists the frog once.
