Every Uncatchable Shiny Pokémon EVER
Have you ever wondered what Shiny Pokémon you could find, but no matter what you do, could NEVER catch it? Well, in this video, we'll be answering exactly that. I'll be going over as many mainline and spinoff Pokémon games as I possibly can, looking into each and every uncatchable Shiny Pokémon I was able to find. From games as far back as Pokémon Crystal, Ruby and Sapphire, to Pokémon games of the modern generation like Pokémon Sword and Shield, and Scarlet and Violet, to even obscure spinoffs like Pokémon: Magikarp Jump, we're covering it all!

I Tried Beating Pokémon Let's Go ONLY Using SHINIES
มุมมอง 258K3 หลายเดือนก่อน
It's always been on my mind since I've started Shiny Hunting in 2020 to complete a Pokémon game by catching a Shiny Pokémon before each gym badge. More commonly known as a Shiny Badge Quest, that's exactly what we'll be doing in this video, playing through Pokémon Let's Go Eevee by catching a FULL ODDS shiny before each gym badge. Being one of the most fun, yet extremely time consuming and pati...
Nobody Has THIS Marked Shiny in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet

In Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, shiny hunting has become easier than ever with the addition of Herba Mystica and Mass Outbreaks, however those who strive to find a Marked Shiny add just that little extra bit of challenge into their hunt. There is one mark, however, that pretty much nobody has, as the way to obtain it is so obscure and far beyond what anyone would try normally to get it. It's NO ...
Why These Shiny Pokémon are IMPOSSIBLE to Find
มุมมอง 138K6 หลายเดือนก่อน
In this video, I’d like you to join me as we discuss the insanely rare 1/18 million chance a wild Shiny Pokémon in Pokémon Sword and Shield has Star Sparkles. You may be asking, “aren’t star sparkles more common, where square sparkles are rarer?” While you’re technically right, not every kind of Pokémon you find follows these rules, which we discuss in this video. We’ll go over the technical id...

I got a marked jumpluff shiny in area zero
Majikarp jump is also the only instance where u are forced to release a shiny
One of the first ever shinies I saw and recognized was a shiny starly in Pokemon Diamond.... it was uncatchable, but not because it was the first starly fight. No, I encountered it WHILE WALKING TO GET POKEBALLS IN THE FIRST TOWN. 😅 Ever since then I've been oh so salty about that one specific starting patch of grass.
Also, the magikarp you yourself use in Magikarp Jump can also be shiny
My first ever shiny was an uncatchable Dusclops in the Battle Pike
Also love the Pokemon brick bronze music
Golden poochyena😭
7:35 dont worry i accidentally killed a shiny blissey once🙁
*Goes into explaining that Shadow Pokemon are shiny-locked in their first encounter,* 4:04 *Shows Gonzap's Skarmory being shiny at Relgam Tower, the first place you battle him*
Rematch battles happen in the same location lol
So, little fun fact for you here, I'm pretty sure that Metagross is a static encounter. Due to static encounters using true random in SWSH, static encounters are actually NOT affected by the shiny charm (which is why mons like the regis are all full-odds hunts in that game). What that means is that your Metagross was not just a first encounter shiny, but actually a FULL-ODDS first encounter shiny... with a mark!
@@ScubaShark8857 That is incorrect. Strong spawn pokemon are generated like any normal wild spawn, and aren’t actually static pokemon. They are affected by shiny charm! You’ll know if a shiny Pokemon is a static encounter if it has star sparkles more commonly than squares! (I.e. Regis, motostoke gym Pokemon, impidimp mushrooms, etc.) In this case, this metagross will always have squares.
If i ever get an uncatchable shiny, im just gonna hack it in. i am not giving up a shiny just cause i have no balls
you did specifically fail to mention the few instances in which a pokemon game allows you to encounter wild pokemon before getting poke balls. i know you mention at the end the concept of not having poke balls, but when its literally out of your control whether or not you have them, as opposed to simply not having any, similarly to some of the wild encounters from the battle pyke in emerald, id say theyre worth mentioning. additionally, the glorious coding of scarlet and violet have a few instances of pokemon spawning inside walls. you can manipulate the camera and see them, and they can still be shiny, but you have no way to encounter them since the walls are in the way, thus uncatchable shoutouts to gen 2 for being the gen that introduced shinies while also having the longest segment between owning your first pokemon and actually gaining access to balls. 2 full routes with a ton of unavoidable grass was just asking to be cruel to the few unlucky souls thats had this happen to them my list isnt conclusive, but i have a strong faith that these are the games in which you can access wild encounters before getting balls gold/silver/crystal ruby/sapphire/emerald firered/leafgreen diamond/pearl/platinum heartgold/soulsilver omega ruby/alpha sapphire brilliant diamond/shining pearl i have no idea if sword and shield had this, to be honest i only played those games once and im too lazy to do my own research. im also not super confident about oras, but i wanna say you still have to battle the rival before getting access to poke balls.
To put it simply, you're still explaining a situation where you don't have any PokeBalls. I didn't go into as much depth as you did simply because there was no reason to. The sentence "you don't have any Poke Balls to catch it" sums it up, regardless of if this is before you're able to obtain Poke balls, or you're just ill prepared.
I still find it hilarious that SwSh introduced the whole square/star sparkle difference only to never use it again. 10/10 troll GameFreak!
You forgot the classic uncatchable shiny. You can't catch it because it's already dead. You weren't paying enough attention. Oops.
I almost forgot a shiny starly in pla! It ran off :(
I once found a Shiny Pokemon in Pokémon Violet, it was a green Pelipper, but it was flying so I couldn't catch it and I was so disappointed 😂
That gen 2 shiny hoothoot sprite at 1:27 was a jump scare, since I experienced that uncatchable shiny myself less then a month ago. Why did they make the trek to Mr. Pokémon’s house so long? 😭
At the end you forgot in Gen 2 when your active box is filled up, you can't catch pokemon, so even if you hacked in 999 Master Ball, you still wouldn't be able to catch a shiny you'd encounter.
@AbsolBlogsPokemon has caught the Shiny Starly in BDSP so you can take that one off the list (it technically stays on the list if you count the fact you have to be in version 1 and have to use glitches to catch it)
@@clawshdi Go look at the pinned comment of his video… Go look at the author of the comment… Also look at my pinned comment of this video… also look at 21:38 of this video…
Ahh yes the shiny poochyena, I'm one of those players who encountered it under those circumstances. This was over 10 years ago and it still haunts me, as I have never seen a full odds shiny ever since.
There’s also cafe remix.
I'm kind of surprised GF hasn't removed shiny pokemon altogether considering how they love to just remove gimmicks for no reason and their trend of just shiny locking pokemon since gen 5.
I wonder if the Weedle in RBY has the potential chance of being Shiny, if it could be transfered to another game.
my first and only shiny encounter I've ever had run into before gen 6 was in Fire Red. I grabbed Oaks parcel from the PokeMart, ran down to pallet town, and on the last row of grass, i ran into a Rattata. IT WAS SHINY AND I WAS A SCRIPTED EVENT AWAY FROM GETTING POKEBALLS :'(
Love the video. The uncatchable shinies I've gotten were the beginning zigzagoon and a shiny vileplume on the battle frontier, both on emerald. One thing, the colosseum shiny ISN't Uncachable. Since the PID of the pokemon gets locked in the first time you see it, but your opponent gets a new TID/SID in the second battle according to RNG seeds, there's six options 1: First battle, not shiny for opponent, not shiny for you (most common) 2: First battle, not shiny for opponent, shiny for you (1/8192 chance for your TIS/SID) 3: Second battle, not shiny for opponent, not shiny for you (most common) 4: Second battle, not shiny for opponent, shiny for you (1/8192 chance for your TID/SID. if you had caught it in the first battle it'd have been shiny as well) 5: Second battle, shiny for opponent, not shiny for you (1/8192 chance for your opponent's new TID/SID, but you were locked out of a shiny) 6: Second battle, shiny for opponent, shiny for you. (1/8192 chance for both your and your opponent's TID/SID, since both of you need to shiny check that's a 1/8192 * 1/8192 = 1/67108864 chance) TL:DR It is possible, but the chance is ONE in 67,108,864 AND the chance is locked since the first time you see the pokemon, so it'll always be shiny for you regardless if this happens. The extra luck comes from it being shiny for your opponent as well.
I addressed this in another comment, however due to the complexity of the topic and due to the fact that this video is intended for a wider audience, I didn’t go into much detail like you had. This is also why I linked the other video by OlIver_MKP. I did know this was this case, I researched this video for 7 months, but again, for simplicity reasons, I didn’t go into a huge amount of detail. Excellent detail though!
2:47 no way! Bow down PM7 there’s a new fastest shiny hunter in town
I saw a shiny shinx in a legends arceus cutscene but when the cutscene was over the shinx was gone :(
The Shiny Starly in BDSP is actually catchable. On version 1.0.0 you can use Barry to boundary break and get pokeballs early
21:39
I had that Poochyena appear on me.
I once found a shiny Raticate on a battle CD in XD Gale of Darkness! And the Bunnelby at the beginning of X and Y!
This reminds me of my second shiny ever, when I was playing through gen2, when I just got my starter and went to the tall grass the literal FIRST encounter was a shiny sentret
Idk if anyone has said this but I am pretty sure in Pokémon Black and White, during the Musical game in Nimbasa City, the NPC’s pokémon can show up as shiny! Your opponents in Pokestar studios, in B2W2, ALSO have shiny variants (even opponents that aren’t pokémon!)
imagine finding a shiny in the spaceworld gold demo not only is it the ultimate uncatchble since you don't even have the game, nobody would believe you it even exists it technically happened to me when we were first doccumenting them
you can technically find 2-3 shiny starters at the same time in HG/SS since you can view all 3 at once. if you're lucky enough to find 2 shiny starters at the same time, one of them would be considered an uncatchable shiny
@@feIon 20:57
I swear to god, literally my first encounter on my brilliant diamond was a shiny bidoof. I was...speechless
Appreciate the magikarp jump representation throughout the video
If anyone is watching this in 2024 or after, im so sorry you've decided to watch this horrid old video LOL
In case anyone was curious, the odds of both Norman’s Zigzagoon and Wally’s Ralts being shiny at the same time are *one in 67,108,864.*
No lie, i got 2 back to back. And then i woke up :(
YESSS MAGIKARP JUMP MENTION LETS GOOO
That’s pretty cool! It’s sad that it’s uncatchable though.
I knew all of these… oh God I have brainrot…
4:20 You have colosseum wrong. Shadow pokemon CAN be shiny for the player as well on rematches. The way shadow pokemon are generated is it looks at the opposing trainer's ID and makes sure a shiny will never generate for that ID. However, the game never updates this ID on rematch battles, hence why the pokemon can now be shiny for the opposing trainer AND for the player. This is also why you can even catch a shiny shadow pokemon- the game only makes sure a shiny can never generate for the first trainer ID, that being the trainer you are fighting. And when you catch a shadow pokemon, it applies your trainer ID to the pokemon, which is why it re-rolls the shininess and stats depending on the updated ID.
In colosseum, when fighting in the first battle against Shadow Pokemon, the PID generated for the Shadow Pokemon, when checked against the NPC trainers Trainer ID and Secret ID, is made sure to never be shiny. When caught, however, this PID is then checked against your TID and SID, which can lead it to being shiny when caught. In rematch battles, the PID generated for the Pokemon never changes from what it was in the first battle. The reason it can now be shiny for Trainer NPC’s is because they no longer had the same TID/SID from the first battle, meaning there’s a 1/8192 chance that Pokémon’s PID generated from the first battle can make it shiny when XOR’d with the NPC trainers ID’s. However, your TID and SID never changes, which means if the Pokémon’s PID didn’t result in a shiny for you during the first battle, it never will be shiny for you in rematch battles. If the PID was shiny for you in the first battle however, anytime you catch the Pokemon in rematch battles, it will always be shiny 100% of the time, no matter how many times you reset the game, kill it, or do rematches with it. There is a theoretical chance it generates a shiny PID at a 1/8192 chance for you in the first battle, and then the NPC Trainer’s TID and SID cause it to be shiny in your rematch battles, and you can catch it and it remain shiny, however this is a (1/8192)^2 chance, which is virtually insanely unlikely. I did a lot of research for this video, what I said in the video wasn’t meant to be technical nor advanced so the average viewer could enjoy it. This is also why I linked Oliver_MKP’s video afterward and said I covered the topic very broadly while missing a bit of info, as I knew anyone interested enough could go and check his much more detailed video. Hopefully this clears it up, and if there’s any doubts, this was sourced DIRECTLY from Bulbapedias Shiny Pokémon page. Thanks for watching!
@JFlash727 I think I got my sources wrong then. There seems to be a lot of myths and misconceptions when it comes to colosseum shiny hunts, and it's frustrating to find the right information for certian hunts. I thought rematches could also be shiny because of the shiny Hitmontop hunt, but i forgot that the resets include the cutscene battle, where it's PID is generated, AND the "rematch" where you catch it. I also see how my own comment contradicts itself by saying "The first battle generates the PID" and "Rematches can be hunted" 😅 Colosseum is my first and favorite game so I like to talk about it even if I get it wrong. Thank you for the reply 🙏
@@stampie6881 Ofc! Yeah Hitmontop is a weird one for sure with all the cutscene shenanigans. I appreciate you trying to help tho, always a good thing to do 💪
Just adding this for anyone who stumbles across this comment, but the TL;DR is: 1/67,108,864 of the time, the NPC's shiny shadow Pokémon will be catchable and stay shiny. 67,108,863/67,108,864 of the time, the NPC's shiny shadow Pokemon will be UNCATCHABLE, and revert back to a normal Pokemon.
I mean, there is also that SMALL part of Gen 2 where you have your starter but no pokeballs. And are free to go into the wild grass. Same goes for any entry in the series that has this.
I remember being a young kid playing Platinum and seeing a trainer in one of the facilities send out a shiny Cacnea. I had no idea it was random chance. I just assumed some trainers had predetermined shiny Pokémon on their team, like the Espeon on R/S/E.
Hardest part of this video I guess is what exactly a predetermined shiny and why does the game predetermine shinies
That one damn tentacool from one of my fire red playthroughs
Jesus christ, your over reactions are extreme cringe
I actually found two shinies in a single Dynamax Adventure, being a Luxray and a Yveltal. This was also on my Normal Type Nuzlocke run of shield so I couldn't even use the Yveltal (It's just sitting in the box currently)
