    Mizuno has a habit of turning 1st time buyers into life-long customers for a reason. When you start consistently striking the ball well, there is very little out there that sounds and feels as good.

    I have gamed the 919 Hot Metals, 6-PW, for a couple of years and love them! I weakened the lofts 2* and still get more than enough distance for the courses I play. The 919s impressed me so much, in fact, that I recently tested and bought some 921 forged irons, 6-PW, to put in the bag for next season. I love that I haven't lost distance moving to forged, but instead gained more of the feel Mizuno is known for. The feel is definitely different than the hot, purposeful feel of the Hot Metals. Despite the new addition, I'll just be moving my 919s to my travel bag where they'll still get plenty of use. Who knows, maybe I'll even test the 923s at some point to see if they're worth picking up before the 925s are released. For now, I'm more than happy with my 919s and 921s! Mizuno for the win! Cheers Mark 🍻

    Was fitted for the JPX919 HMP just as the 921's came out, hit them similarly and saved quite a bit of money. BTW, when strike is good, they feel and sound awesome!

    Good comparison of the new Mizuno offerings. I game JPX800 Pro Forged and love them. Ive changed the shafts to slightly lighter this year and they work great. My only issue with the newer versions is the stronger lofts. I like the traditional lofts but could use more distance. my concern is dispersion with stronger lofts.

    Good review. I game over model JPX800 Pro Forged that are more traditional lofted irons. Today I was able to try the new JPX923 Hot Metal Pro’s and also the 225’s which as less strong but more like a blade. The JPX923 Hot Metal HL’s were good built liked the Pro’s as you stated they just look better and the gain in distance will definitely help my game. During the test I also found out that my current gamers would be better if the lis angle was adjusted due to my change in swing path which has improved. I expect 2023 but be a better year with my game with a new set soon.

    As a leftie been difficult to find the right combination. Came close to going with the jpx921 sel but ended up with pxgs instead - superb feel too. However look forward to testing if and when available in leftie the jpx 923 forged and the right shaft to suit me. If really good may well switch but would have to be really good…

    I just played my brand new fitted 923 HL's. I hit the holy crap out of them. I'm 64 and have lost distance and spin the last ten years. Not anymore! I was amazed that I added a full club in length with these bad boys. Not only do they look pretty to my eye, but they also feel so damned good when I hit them. Even my misses were close the greens! I bought all the wedges. I have a complete set with hybrids 3, 4, and 5. I hit the hybrids just as nice! I am sold on these as my last set I'll likely ever have. YEA! Golf is fun again. Better feel with more distance and spin. These clubs literally wound the clock back twenty years on my gold game!

    I really enjoy how you judge products using statistics, along with looks, feel, and sound. Since all of the big companies have such high price tags on their equipment, I think many would be most interested in seeing you test Takomo 101 irons. They are half the price since they don’t have major advertising nor tour pros on their staff. But James Robinson judged them to be the second best set of game improvement irons for 2022. Would love to see your test of them and hear your opinion.

    I haven’t played a Mizuno JPX iron set since the JPX-800s. So, when given an opportunity to play a set of the JPX-923 Hot Metal irons, I jumped at the chance. I must say that the JOX-923 HMs deliver. They are slightly longer than the Titleist T300s I have been playing and just as accurate. Ball flight is high enough to produce that steep descent angle to help hold the greens. Feel is good. Not the forged feel, but about similar to the other game improvement irons out there.

    I needed to replace most of my bag last year as my youngest club date to 2006. Mizuno was definitely NOT on my radar...like at all. But i trusted my fitter and after hitting nearly everything in the shop, She made a suggestion that changed my perception of feel forever. I now game the jpx 921 pro irons. I absolutely love them. Look, sound, feel..all yes please. I have mine all 1degree weak which gives me predictable distances within my comfort zone. I struggle when lofts get too strong because I begin chasing distance which is totally a me problem. I also got fitted this year into D, and fairway woods. I tested most brands including my personal favorite Cobra and Callaway. I actually tried to convince myself into one or the other because they are what I have long played at the top of my bag. Mizuno STz 220 in D and 3w are what I put in. I was shocked...but now I would not be without them. Looks, feel, consitant performance. I have become a fan. Good luck getting my Calloway 7w out of my bag though...been with me since 06. Almost as long as I have played Srixon balls...(zstar currently in tour yellow) I am not the biggest fan of change obviously. Yes, buy them. Yes blend them. Just put them in your bag. Don't sleep on their Drivers or anything else Mizuno. They are everything you will want top to bottom.

  • @delhump22
    @delhump22 ปีที่แล้ว +9

    Was just fitted into the 923 Hot Metal HL. I was a bit surprised, given my swing speed isn't too slow (mid-90s), but I tend to deliver the club pretty steeply/taking loft off. The HLs popped the ball up into the flight I'm looking for without sacrificing distance. Paired them with a stiff flex shaft, and I gained 20 yds on my gamers, while maintaining steep descent angles for stopping power. And the feel is, well, like a Mizuno. Great clubs.

    • @delhump22
      @delhump22 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @seanarmao7385 a little on the "clicky"/loud side, but that's sort of to be expected I guess, with a game improvement club like that. But the feel is great. My tendency is to be toe-side with my misses, and a lot of times I'll hot a toe-y shot and have to double check the club face to make sure it wasn't out the middle. Very forgiving.

    I have been in the golf industry for over ten years. Mizuno is as good as it gets for quality and unbelievable feel. However, they are the most difficult manufacturer to work with hands down! It’s hard to push a brand who refuses to work with professionals.

    I purchased the JPX923 hotmetal... and love them. Granted, this is my first iron purchase since 1995. Seriously. Been played same clubs for 30 years, wondering why my 15 handicap never improves. Thus, every new iron I tried was startlingly beneficial. Still, I am happy. I'll buy my next set in another 30, at age 87.

    I have the old JPX 800 HD irons which so far nothing has been able to replace. Looks like the new 923 HL may be just right with decent lofts and offset for a 12 HC, moderate swing speed player like myself. These will be on my shortlist for the next upgrades.

    I have always liked the JPX line, personally I bought the MP-18's (and love them to death), but I would have been fine with the JPX line. I still use the old JPX Hybrid to be honest, I have tried to get it out of my bag but I just can't. Old Blue is probably going to have to snap before it is replaced. I think my next set of irons though are probably not going to be blades, not because I can't play them, but just more wanting to take advantage of all this tech that is just quite frankly not in an MB.

    The HL irons are the first game improvement irons in a long time that have reasonable lofts. They are not strong lofted, and so it will help moderate swing speed players to get the ball airborne and stopping on the greens. I'm looking forward to getting fit early next year.

    I’ve got JPX EZ forged, and a set of JPX 825 Pro in the loft, for when my ball striking improves. Or I get bored and fancy some chrome irons bag in my bag…

      I'm testing irons right now - my Mp59s are 9 years old now, its time. It took me a while to get over myself - I have played pro/forged irons for 15 years and I swore I would never go back, but I am finding the gap between the "feel" of a forged/player iron, and the forgiveness of a game improvement iron is starting to shrink with all this new tech. Forged irons are more forgiving than ever, and game improvement are offering better feel than ever. If you're looking, I'd strongly suggest just allowing a fitter to hand you anything and everything - no biases. I play off a 7.7 index right now, my mid iron striking has always been a strength in my game so I am pretty detailed about what I am looking for...but I would not be surprised at all if my next set ends up in the cavity back/game improvement class.

    Test with 6 Irons, or do 7 & either 5 or 4. Didn't understand what the HL was about until I listened to Chris Voshall's interview on a big golf site's podcast. Golfers with slower club speeds are getting the short end of the stick in the LoftJacked Wars. I mean, I have more wedges than irons.

    I gamed JPX 850 Forged for about 4 or 5 years. Loved them. Looked good, not terribly chunky, but felt good, and could definitely shape them.
    Replaced with MP20 MMC 5i-PW and 4i HMB.
    I liked the slimmer profile of the MMC, style/looks, better feel, and some forgiveness (more than the 921 Tour).
    I’m confused on the new MP 223. To me it’s the same as JPX forged and doesn’t make sense. Very progressively chunky heads, PW an d 9 look nice, 8 is OK, but 7i looks and feels like the JPX forged. I don’t like that they’ve done that to the mid-line MP model and hope that in the next MP release it goes back to a more less progressive player CB style. If I want some more chunk I’ll mix with JPX around the 5 or 4i.
    I liked the JPX Tour, but to me, the MP20 MMC were a bit more forgiving, enough for my preference, and still had a nice compact look

    I was at the golf head-quarters today looking to buy my first set. I’ve always had Mizuno baseball gear and it’s just a familiar name to me. I liked the feel in my hands but it’s kinda hard to shell out that kinda money for clubs I never played.

    Very interesting that Mizuno has left the "jacked loft-race" with the HM HL. That line has higher loft and more spin than the regular HM. I would be afraid of the offset, but otherwise it would probably be the best club for me (inconsistent strike, but high clubhead speed)

      It makes more sense really. Higher lofts are easier to hit and control. Want more distance? Probably should get lessons or work out.

    Tested the range earlier this month. Not that different looks wise to the 921's tbh.
    I've 5 year old MP18 set of blade/SC mixed and have ordered the JPX 923's Forged 6-PW to replace them. The difference in feel between my clubs and these is not that much tbh, need a bit of help as getting older, and their distance variation was good. Plus look great 👍
    Delivery mid-October, (not standard).
