Musically maybe only the Beatles might beat them by a hair, but live their is no one but then again apples and oranges cannot compare they are both my favorite bands. But to be fair the Beatles couldn’t play live too many women fainting and screaming.
This song is in my top five Zeppelin songs of all time. There will never be another Led Zeppelin or Pink Floyd ever. I have been listening to Zeppelin for over 35 years. I was recently in the hospital for five days. My wife brought my ipod and my B&W headphones to me. I listened to the entire catalog. I felt like I was in high school again.
for all those people who say he messes up a lot, I didn't hear any mess ups here and that song was pretty hard to perform. Especially that guitar solo or should I say, slide solo.
These four guys aren't just rock gods of the century but of all time! They are truly immortalized in our music world of rock and roll or folk hard rock blues rock heavy rock heavy metal classic rock and classical rock!
And how would you classify Kashmir? Or In the Light? Or Trampled Underfoot? Or The Crunge? Or Carouselambra? Or No Quarter? They were more than a "rock" band. They were all incredible musical artists in their own right, and could play anything.
No doubt about that. They were all very musically gifted in a variety of ways and many different styles of music. They weren't heavy metal or blues rock or classic rock or folk. They just made great 👍 music all around its really hard to pigeon hole what kind of music they were exactly. But then again I guess you could just clarify them as musical God's! As they say hammer of the God's and that they were. God's of music!
This is LED ZEPPELIN at their very best! They perform so forceful, so excellent, so intimate and so thougtful, all at the same time, it´s almost painful.... It´s not hard to comprehend their massive influences and monumental legacy to the world! As ever, BRILLIANT LED ZEPPELIN.....

Led Zeppelin is so incredibly powerful and soulful! What a great rendition of the Blind Willie Johnson classic. Page and Plant are so in tune with each other, and Bonham and Jones take the song to another level. The interplay between the band members during Page’s solo is sooo cool! The Beatles are amazing songwriters, same with the Stones and The Who of course, but for sheer virtuosity and verve no one can come close to Zeppelin. They take the blues to the stratosphere!
their chemistry took them over the top into immortality. they were all such great and soulful musicians, that when they met and they just clicked right from the start -- it was absolute magic.
maybe not so much here but he also foots his high hats at a blistering pace at times freeing a hand to work other magic. Such a basic kit- such thunderous magic he makes with it !
Yes John Bonham used single bass throughout his playing days. I learned on single pedal still have the first pedal I bought with my first kit, 1972 Tama Camco single bassdrum pedal. I also have and play a double pedal, the Demonator Pearl makes. But I agree, one should learn to play single pedal bass drum, 3-5 yrs or more before venturing into double bass playing. Just an opinion. One more thing everyone thinks or believes because one has a 4 or 5 piece kit without many cymbals that the drummer isn't as skilled or can't be very good or play certain music. All total bullshit!! A drummer doesn't need a fucking 15 piece double bass drum kit with 15 cymbals to be skilled, or to play metal or whatever. Even musicians make these assumptions and they're complete B.S. I've been playing 30+ yrs on drums alone and I can tell u, I can take a 4 piece single bass drum kit with hi hats, crash, and ride and playing some Rush songs and sound just fine, not all, but some. Don't need a ginormous kit to play, just experience and confidence.
Page would often (modestly!) say that they were four master musicians at the top of their game but it's absolutely true. You can listen to this over and over and say to yourself 'right, I'm going to give Bonzo my attention' or 'I'm going to give JPJ my attention' and you'll hear in every one of them something special. It's epic today. 40 odd years ago it must've been other worldly...
You're so absolutly wright. You can spend five times the lenght of the Song by listening to each individuell musician at time, after hearing the Song for the x-time.
Those who criticize Jimmy Page are just pissed bc they’ll never reach his height of TALENT! He was self taught, played mostly by ear, played with raw emotion and was/is sexy as hell! In order for you to be justified in criticism, you must go out and foresee what will happen with radio, be a solid in-demand sessions player, learn production techniques and engineering in a studio, get off your ass and find 3 other master musicians, record your first album in 30 hours and be on tour with it within 2 months, play your ass off & gain popularity where supply will never meet demand-extra concert dates, bigger & bigger venues then sell half a billion records-all within ten to twelve years! GTFOH Rock on Led Zeppelin and Jimmy Forever!!🤘🏻
Led Zeppelin made the greatest music of all time! They were the most musically influential band of all time! They weren't political and didn't need to be. They left that crap to other bands! ALL THEY DID WAS JAM!!
He's definitely on here. Extremely fast and precise, but also in lockstep with the rhythm. That's not always true for him, but as others have pointed out, his real contribution is that the band created music and a sound that have had unequaled impact, probably like no other rock band. These guys brought the hard rock style to it's definitive form. Nobody really added anything after them.
I saw them Live , Twice in this TIME ... Bards of the British Isles merging Medieval Prose and swampy Delta Blues for the elucidating of the largest group on young adults in a 'stable' culture, Ever on the Planet ... The Age of The Aquarians, 1 9 7 0 & On 🧝♂️🧝♀️🎸🥁
The people that say sloppy are people that weren’t around foe them, hitting every note perfectly is boring, they never take risks, Jimmy never played a song the same way twice, he always took risks, he was one with the guitar
It's incredible what power. Who in our time can be compared with Led Zeppelin. I do not know how to express my emotions, this is something beyond. This is my music.
Well put. Some people just don't get it. Never will. It was the sum of all of them. Each brilliant in their own right. To me it was the songs and the production. For example, there's plenty of brilliant guitarists. Or bands with good this or good that but then they write these dim wit songs. Zeppelin were just flat out the best.
and the drummer................driving it all like a steamtrain..what a rock n roll band like no other ever. totally takes me back to the 1970s and beyond. just so damn good
Phenomenal slide guitar player. Where would you get anyone nowadays who isn’t distracted by technology to perform like this, with the same level of dedication to virtuosity.
This was THE ultimate show they ever made....Theese guys are the EPITOM of Rock & Roll although they played Blues, Folkmusic, Jazz and even included classic streaks in their music. They liberated the younger people of that times, showing all that we actually could choose the music, looks and clothes of our liking...they were SO important to us all. And believe me , I was at this show and every single second was memorable, precious and something to hold very close to my heart !!!
Hadn't seen this vid before. Nice to see Jimmy Page playing these parts after hearing the studio version so many times, and learning bits and pieces of it on slide. As for any 'sloppiness', it's called FEEL. And watching this it is really apparent just how much John Paul Jones and Bonham brought to the table in a live setting. Amazing.
Absolute Rock N Roll Legends. No Fucking Doubt ! Best Band Ever that everyone emulated. Years ahead of their time and nobody has ever captured or reproduced anything like them. Second to none.
So cool !! Best I can say is I saw page and plant in mid 90’s at Irvine meadows, was incredible , could only image what this was like live … I was 5 when this concert happened
Its hard to believe that they had 18 months off before this concert. And it is even more staggering to even contemplate JPJ actually thought about leaving Zeppelin to be the organist at his church. 1975 they were at the very top of their game, shortly after this they started down the slippery slope of destruction, with Plant's car crash in Greece, the death of his son and finally the loss of the rock's greatest drummer.
Jimmy's on fire here!! He was my first rock & roll teen crush (I still have the posters 😅). Saw them in concert in the 70's and as Page & Plant in late 90's. No other band can compare, they were magic. Led Zeppelin be forever loved and listened to by many future generations.
You know, I saw a live performance by Jack White recently and thought he sounded terrible. This is a guy that’s considered one of the greatest rock musicians around today. Then I watch this and realize, no, THIS is genius. THIS is what greatness sounds like live. I don’t see how Zeppelin is ever eclipsed.
Although a totally different style, Pink Floyd (sans Waters) is on the same level, at least. Gilmour is a freaking genius! He and Page both began with a love and mastery of the blues, but they took that into 2 different but equally great arenas. I look at it not like one or the other, but 2 equals, who both have respect for what the other has done. I wonder what they could come up with on the same stage…🤔🎸🎸
This band stood in a class by itself. No other band has ever been able to match the magic of Led Zeppelin.

The Gods in their prime .... Led Zeppelin will never be equaled, let alone surpassed.
So real
Musically maybe only the Beatles might beat them by a hair, but live their is no one but then again apples and oranges cannot compare they are both my favorite bands. But to be fair the Beatles couldn’t play live too many women fainting and screaming.

This song is in my top five Zeppelin songs of all time. There will never be another Led Zeppelin or Pink Floyd ever. I have been listening to Zeppelin for over 35 years. I was recently in the hospital for five days. My wife brought my ipod and my B&W headphones to me. I listened to the entire catalog. I felt like I was in high school again.

Hi Jim Morrison
The thing about slide is that u can’t really hear mistakes it’s all jumbled together but yes, Jimmy is fucking insane.
It's his song. How can anyone say that he "messes up"?
@@DGW374They were just Gods of Rock, nobody comes close

Led Zeppelin is so incredibly powerful and soulful! What a great rendition of the Blind Willie Johnson classic. Page and Plant are so in tune with each other, and Bonham and Jones take the song to another level. The interplay between the band members during Page’s solo is sooo cool! The Beatles are amazing songwriters, same with the Stones and The Who of course, but for sheer virtuosity and verve no one can come close to Zeppelin. They take the blues to the stratosphere!
Los stones no gustan de LZ. Bueno, yo sé menos y no me gustan los Stones. KR is una pose
their chemistry took them over the top into immortality. they were all such great and soulful musicians, that when they met and they just clicked right from the start -- it was absolute magic.
Did Zeppelin pay Blind Willie Johnson or his family to use his song?
That is a good question ! I do not know if they paid him. I sure hope so !

Memo to contemporary drummers: that's a single bass drum playing. Watch and learn.
maybe not so much here but he also foots his high hats at a blistering pace at times freeing a hand to work other magic.
I do this all the time, isolating each member and appreciating their mastery. IT NEVER GETS OLD.
Yep agreed but Bonzo is cool here eh!
Exactly !!

Led Zeppelin is the perfect example of chemistry in all ways
Led Zeppelin made the greatest music of all time! They were the most musically influential band of all time! They weren't political and didn't need to be. They left that crap to other bands! ALL THEY DID WAS JAM!!
Couldn't agree more. Best band ever, period!

This is out of time, out of space, out of genre, in everything and abouve everything. Every member of the band is the best forever.
It's incredible what power. Who in our time can be compared with Led Zeppelin. I do not know how to express my emotions, this is something beyond. This is my music.
They truly are the best group in rock n roll history they are the sum of all parts of each other
Well put. Some people just don't get it. Never will. It was the sum of all of them. Each brilliant in their own right. To me it was the songs and the production. For example, there's plenty of brilliant guitarists. Or bands with good this or good that but then they write these dim wit songs. Zeppelin were just flat out the best.

Amazing.

Hello, how are you doing? It is nice seeing you here.
The thing about Jones wanting to be the choirmaster at his church was a joke.
They actually had only 2 months off before the Earl's Court. They'd had their North American tour during January-March 1975 prior to this.

Jimmy's on fire here!! He was my first rock & roll teen crush (I still have the posters 😅). Saw them in concert in the 70's and as Page & Plant in late 90's. No other band can compare, they were magic. Led Zeppelin be forever loved and listened to by many future generations.
ROBERT Plant is the greatest rock singer that the world has known!
They will never be!
