This is the definitive live version of this song. NOT the butchered remastered version.
Absolutely. The movie version sucked when John Paul Jones walks through his door, and Jimmy page is playing that silly sounding Wawa part instead of the good Wawa part in this version. Makes you wonder sometimes about Jimmy’s real Talent. Because why would you change perfection on a remaster to match a movie soundtrack which sucked compared to the album version. He must’ve had one too many shots or jabs that day
Yes!
Remaster sucks
Lowered the gong why don't get it.
Remaster all chopped up.
Page's solo here is probably his best ever. From the day I bought this album I was mesmerized by this solo. Absolutely incredible.
I also agree bout pages best solo here ,,and to me ( my opinion ) this solo is kinda like speaking in a musical and emotional way 😳😳😳😳 ,, if playing from the heart can have just one example outta all the guitar solos ever written ans played ,,, THIS ONE HAS GOT TO BE IT ! BECAUSE IT NOT ONLY SOUNDS ANGRY AT CERTAIN TIMES THRU-OUT THE SOLO , I CAN ALSO HEAR ( OR ACTUALLY FEEL ) SOMEWHAT SAD AND/OR EMOTIONAL FEELINGS OF EXPRESSION COMMING FROM EACH NOTE WITHIN THE SOLO AT CERTAIN SEGMENTS ,,, EVEN WEEPING OR CRYING SO-TO-SPEAK ALSO ,, IT REALLY DOES SPEAK VOLUMES (NO PUN INTENDED) TO ME,,, AND IT SOUNDS GREAT BUT FEELS EVEN BETTER ,,,, NEVER HEARD ANYTHING LIKE IT BEFORE THRU-OUT MY MANY YEARS OF LISTENING AND PLAYING ,, TRUTH BE TOLD MY FELLOW MUSICIANS AND ZEPP FANATICS ( AND ANYBODY THAT HAS HEARD OR NOT HEARD THIS SOLO , BUT ARE READING THIS ) ITS CREATOR WAS ON A DIFFERENT LEVEL,, TO BE ABLE TO PULL OUT OF HIS MAJIC HAT, A SOLO AS SUPERIOR , EXPRESSIVE AND HEART-FELT SPUR OF THE MOMENT LIKE THIS MASTER-PIECE HERE , JAMES PATRICK PAGE TRUELY IS PLAYING FROM HIS HEART ON THIS PIECE ,, AND REMAINS MY #1 GUITARIST OF ALL-TIME PAST , PRESENT AND FUTURE 🎸🎵🎸🎵🎸🎵🎸🎵🎸 GOODNITE
This is the go to live version of No Quarter it’s where it all comes together .......John Paul Jones piano .
Dazed and confused?
I agree from the mid 70s on he never replicated it. On the most recent reunion show they did his solo on this song couldn't compare.
BIGTIME !!! :O
John Paul Jones made this song echo throughout musical history...
Sometimes like an eclipse, the shadow steals the spotlight
Take it easy guy fieri. I cant even twerk to this song how does that make it last thru history honey? Led Zeppelin should just be called THE FOUR LOSERS. Come on gimme five 🤚 yeYEAHHHHHHHRGHH!!!! Come on lets GOOOOO!
@@Blackkey034... And you just won playa hater of the year award!
"And as I sit here sipping my soda that I'm sure somebody spit in I just wanna say kiss my ass you rotten motherfu**ers. I hate you, I hate you, I don't even know you and I hate your guts"
But seriously, there's plenty of quality music unsuitable for twerking. Don't hate, these guys were considered the best in the business 50 years ago. Drummer especially revered as one of the best ever, master multiple triplets and tempo shifts without missing a beat. Metal guy but still try to appreciate other styles. Don't hate just because it's not your thing.
Amen. His Rhodes tone is haunting. The desending run just before Kettle drum comes in.🔥
❤❤no kidding
This live version is a masterpiece!
Better than that remastered crap, this one is well-balanced in performance, mixed, and mastering

John Bonham had a feel to the drums like it was nobody's business.
Without exaggeration, I think I may have listened to this piece of music at least 10 thousand times.
Still has not gotten old.
Rey Galjour how does a band write songs that you never tire of? It’s just not fair!
IM 57 , I MIGHT HAVE YOU BEAT .
The best
Fuck yeh Jimmy. It is the ultimate song of endurance.
We got old...
But he song remains the same.
Can we stand and apreciate for a second the work of JPJ ? Like a painter with his canvas. Sublime.
A GENIUS!! He could do about anything , The four of them were very talented but I think JOHN PAUL WAS THE GLUE!!! That binded the talent together. saw them on this tour and like the time before they ROCKED LIKE HELL!
I thought that's what we're here for🤔🤔🤔
@@donaldaltman4764 fantastic! The 1973 tour! They were so tide and on top of their game! So jealous, man! Where did you watched them?
Not to mention his playing the bass notes with pedals… Amazing
yeah whatever...lol
Bonham, Jones and Page weren't fucking around on this one here... This is probably the best version of No Quarter I've come across. Special mention to Jimmy Page for that gorgeous, searching solo. He could be hit or miss live, but damn when he was on his way he could make even a great guitarist rethink their fucking life. The interplay between the 3 of them on this song was jaw dropping.
The guitar playing makes every other player look completely amateur.
I met Jimmy Page a few times. He said that sometimes he had to deal with organized crime in the industry, and that they sabotaged their equipment at times. He was never sloppy. Let me run sound for you, and screw it up while you're playing. That will influence how anyone plays. The musicians are only going to sound as good or bad as the people who are running sound want them to sound.
Well said Sir
I agree they went all the way in !!!! Very very clean crisp and perfect too!!!
Agreed, what an Awesome tune
One of the five most enchanting solos in history. Jimmy Page's highest peak.
Amen!!!
@@tomy.1846 Preach it brother !!! indeed !!!
I’ve heard others say that too. Brilliant band. Glad this was the original 1976 release. It needs the buildup from JPJ.
name a better solo? im curious
Yes Indeed, Ive spent half a life developing a neck guitar pickup that replicates that guitar solo tone
The way that Bonzo and Jones keep the groove in the pocket during that tear is spine tingling.
Bonzo almost introduces the guitar solo 💜
John Paul Jones------piano
Very well put, nice observenc. You listen well.
And this is the real uncut version when you do not miss the amazing start of the solo.
Mr. Page and the "talking guitar".
SAGABIJO2 it’s that start man!!!
Joshua Vargas unbelievable. You can’t miss the start!
SAGABIJO2 yes sir it is .. The best version without all pages remastering and adding....
Couldn't agree more, that solo.. Why ever was it cut?
I agree, this is absolutely the best version !!! A MASTERPIECE!!!!!!
I revisited this just to see whether it's still the greatest piece of music ever recorded. It is.
How about “IM GONNA RIDE MY HORSE TO DOWN THE ROAD IM GINNA RIDE TILL I CANT NO MORE. “ u like that?
Sorry i meant to say to old town not down the road. Youll probably now recognize the hit song by Travis scott! Aka the fortnite dlc wave 42
This is what Jimmy Page is referring to when he talks about all 4 members bringing out the best in each other = chemistry. 🤘
Fart chemistry HA!
You must be some kind of fucking moron.
This is without doubt the best band our father in heaven ever created in the entire universe.
Your purile comment is absolutely ridiculous.

My sister and I shared a room when I was a kid. She went to this concert and then played this 150 trillion times a day/night till she moved out (some years later). I didn't argue, this was actually my favorite on the album. She let me keep her albums when she moved, so I took over playing DJ on the stereo.
This tour, I meant.
I never met a woman who loved this specific song. I've done the same, I've listened to it 10000 times. It always sound new to me. I have 10 minute version of the same live song. But this is my favourite solo even better than pink floyd. This song solo is in my veins. Can you record a video and upload a video of your sister, of how much she appreciate this song. The memories she have created while listening to it? This is a song of freedom. I forced my gf back in the day to listen to it, she absolutely hated it and but she faked it that she like it. I broke up with her. She liked Justin bieber and kid cudi bullshit that I had to learn to play this one kid cudi song on guitar but I hated that artist. Her musical taste was so bad. She had zero artistic sense, but these songs are so pure. I never saw anyone listening to masterpiece, they are just too busy with wage slavery. I think your sister will appreciate this song called going to California earls court 1975 version, it is magic.
I would love to know when it was and at what venue that this version was performed
I'd like to meet your sister. (In a decent way, I mean.)
Actually I'm not catching any drift , sounds like a jazz rock combination. Fused in nicely with overtones of guitar. Got to give Robert Plant a break sometimes
This song is the absolute essence of what music is, and what music is about
😊😊
Get off the heroine losers.
Amen to that sister
Tony iommi is a brilliant guitarist
This is the DEFINITIVE version of No Quarter. This version is one of my five favorite songs ever recorded. It is 12:40 of pure, unbridled ecstasy!!!! I know a lot of people think The Song Remains The Same Soundtrack sucks, but I have never understood that. I spent my hard-earned allowance and bought this album at age 11 in 1976 and I freaking grew up on this album. It rules, and I will always sprout wood for it every time I hear it!
Me also. 11 in 76. Haven't stopped listening since. Cheers from an Englishman.
I used to go to movie screenings at midnight and people where passing joint's all around.
I’m gonna be buried with this album... hopefully not for a while😀
No, versión 21 06 1977 is better
The soundtrack definitely has some high points. The movie was fairly awful, tho.
Just sent this to my grandson I hope he sends it to his grandson
He will 👍
Yes, this IS Page's best solo ever .... but what really makes this special and amazing is the communication between Page on guitar and Bonzo on drums. As Page changes mood or pace, Bonzo is with him. With JPJ on the organ and Page with his twiddly-twiddly notes, the only rhythmic element is from the drums. Punchy, dynamic, expressive, and constantly responsive to what the guitar is doing, it is the drums which make this piece. Mighty. Love and respect.
bonzo's ghost snare notes with page's ghost guitar notes, makes for the most haunted song in rock history
EXACTLY!!!!!!!
Bonzo ahead of his times. Playing triplets like trap beats in 2019. For istance at 7:40.
@@TheFirstGroover but always slightly behind the beat - like every great groove drummer :-)
YES. TRUTH.
This is the real jimmy page. Not the sloppy, heroin addict you’d see in some shows. This is who he really was. Performances like these are why he’s considered one of the greatest guitarists of all time. Rest assured that had he never done drugs like heroin or cocaine, every performance after 1975 would’ve been like this one.
You gotta remember, he broke his finger. Was never the same after
@@kodakwhite1696 I gotta agree, he broke the same finger multiple times and I think that had just as much of an impact on his playing as the drugs did.
Yes. The sloppy Jimmy page live performances (and there are quite a few!) actually put me off when I first started listening to zeppelin. For the most part I preferred his acoustic songs over his harder rock stuff.
The broken fingers & loss of hand strength didn’t help. Drugs & alcohol definitely took a toll.
Greatest electric guitar solo of all time, accept no substitutes!
the stairway live solo is on same level...its Jimmy!
Far and away Jimmy’s best recorded solo ever
I saw this in 1975 in the same building! Still mesmerizing now in 2024! PRICELESS! Jimmy's peak for sure!❤😊

Amazing. This is the best version of this song. Four musicians that jammed incredibly well together. People want to talk about Page's guitar solo - but listen to Jones and Bonham in the background. Magic.
The three of them together were making magic. The ebb and flow channelled through them brought out the best in each of them. Magical moment for sure
People want to Talk down at his work because they’re Envious and petty.

A pinnacle in the pantheon. Astonishing even after the 1000th time.
I was a kid in the seventies but I'm still rocking to Led Zeppelin in 2023!
I was a kid in the 80's-90's and still rocking Zep in 2024!
This song floats and breathes like a spirit. Jimi's best solo ever. Everything is perfect about this jam.
It's the highlight of the whole recording.
This is music so pure it flows through you. Words cannot do it justice. It is powerful and sublime. Page, Bonham and JPJ are in another realm. This is actual magic.
JIMMY....not "JIMI"
Overshadowed by john Paul Jones Jones tho. They both reached their swan song in the same minute, but jpj was a long time coming. I like page in "since I've been loving you", but then their was "Achilles last stand" a few years later that pushed Bonham to the top
This is one of the many evidences that Zeppelin is the greatest of them all.
I've been listening to this since the day is was released. Jimmy has never played a better solo than this one. He was in another realm and it's my all time favorite solo from any guitarist.
I agree
It is the best rock guitar solo ever recorded, imo. Heard it described as being 'from another planet'.....I think it came from another Multiverse.
I think you're right! He nailed this one so good. WOW!
da324 With the Exception Of Dazed n Confused from same album!🎸🤘🏻
Jimmy is from another realm...awesome!
This is a far better version than the remastered version that came out several years ago
The single greatest departure from the studio to the live version. Coupled with a legendary "Stairway To Heaven", this album side literally claimed ownership of my turntable like a proverbial squatter. When I was able to evict these two, "Dazed and Confused" moved in...
The solo Jimmy creates in the middle of the song is outstanding

The instrumental break from 3.44 to 9.52 is one of most uplifting profound pieces of musical synergy ever performed - absolutely astonishing
I've been listening to this album for 40+ years and the musicianship of LED Zeppelin is unmatched..LedZep4eva
Very nice keyboard work from John Paul Jones, and a killer solo from Jimmy Page
Page at his improvisational best during the solo. His fingers know exactly where they are going. No sloppiness or wrong notes.
JPJ, Bonham and Page are on another plane here. No other version of this song live will ever be bettered. Pure genius!
THIS is what I'm talking about..that dude can play...
Never understood why Page cut the solo on the later The song represses as it’s a journey into the deepest void of the human mind with Bonham’s amazing fills being a highlight! Overall this is a masterpiece!
Carlos Luis chill out
Influences! Sometimes if you listen to the wrong ones it can take away from the quality. It's like that old saying, "if it's not broken, then don't fix it."
maybe his taste changed over time
It was to fit the footage they had. And for reasons I don't understand, when they remastered the album they used the version that matched the film. Perhaps to save trouble of two remasterings.
@@Blackkey034 ...You don´t really get it, do you ? Not a committed Zep fan, I take it. No offence intended, just saying...
I've always liked this version better than the studio version
Very spooky indeed. I saw them performing this at Knebworth on 4th of August 1979 and you could have heard a pin drop. The guitar music in this is second to none, it’s just amazing man.
@@williamstclaire809 yep, I was at Knebworth too. Good wasn't it!
For me, the best solo in rock history. It`s complex, astonishing, expressive, original and virtuoso... it's like the music of Bach ... Page at his peak, for sure, Bonham's drumming is awesome.
By far, the best version of this I've ever heard. It's phenomenal to say the least
It is. Pure chemistry there...................
It was the first version I heard . Nothing comes close .
This is so much heavier than the original. I LOVE IT
And yet, the original studio version just f’n ROCKs!!!

Hate the remastered version as it cuts the solo! This is the definitive version!!!
Without doubt, the greatest rock/fusion solo recorded.
I first heard this while on acid in the early 90's as an introduction to led zeppelin.his voice got me straight away and the organ was rippling through me

The definitive version of "No Quarter". It holds a very special place in my heart.
Same here! It's amazing!
Anybody who says Paige is overrated when it comes to skill is proven wrong by his absolute mastery of Dorian blues. Paige is underrated if anything
No UNDEFEATED
Bought this album in 1976 after watching the movie. Still have it. This is my fav song.
Best live version of this song love the way John bonham accents the hi hats in the jamming middle part of the song
Probably my favourite lead guitar ever from Jimmy 😃
Pure magic. Imagine if you were there ...I saw Page & Plant in '96 and they were frakkin amazing, imagine what prime Led Zeppelin would be like in concert with all four. Plus they always improvised new variations in concerts, every show was original -- oh, if only. To those who went, I salute you, what a privilege!
Epic Jonesy piano leads into otherworldy Jimmy
I saw them perform twice. They had a 4 night concert in 1977 at The Capitol Center in Largo, Maryland. I saw the 1st show and the 4th show. Imagine me a young black woman having the time and best experience of my life!
It’s the dynamic between jimmy page and John bonhomie that really makes this song such a exciting piece of music
Bonham
And the ambiguous floating keyboards.
Watch Page and Bonham on Achilles Last Stand at Knebworth on TH-cam. Amazing
This is the reason I picked up a guitar. I didn't even know what guitar was or even what Led Zeppelin was until I had heard this. I had heard this in some playlist in Spotify and instantly become fascinated with what sounds were coming in the middle section. Now half a decade later, I can play this and never unhear what the guitar sound is. I wish I could get that experience of the first listening again.
I bought a guitar about 8 months ago. I wish I could play this. This is my most played track ever. My friend thinks something is wrong with me because of how much I play this exact track.
Just to add...this is Led Zeppelin at their best and Pages guitar weaving and soloing at his best. I listen too it every Summer Solstice and everytime it gives me the shivers.
Other solos for TRSTS version of "No Quarter" claim that their version is the original released version. However, this is the actual original one from the original TSRTS album release. Jimmy slowly works his way into the solo and there's no abrupt exit or cut in his solo at the end at all. This is it folks. One of Led Zeppelin's finest live moments ever - right up there with "Thank You" from the LA Forum - Sept 4, 1970 and the official live release of Kashmir from Knebworth Aug 1979.
First time I heard this it was 1979 and I was on my first mushroom trip, need I say more?
Dude. Respect!

This has got to be my favorite Led Zeppelin song!
Absolute greatest band there will ever be!!!!!
The players are on fire here. In another zone. This has Zeppelin's best elements: great storytelling, mellow moments and intense moments. But I'm not sure how they pull this off without Bonham. His groove gives the song an menacing feel that fits the story well. Never once does he rush the tempo.
Exquisite with all it's "flaws." I'll take this over the remaster any day. I actually feel pity for the 10 people who voted this down.
there are simply no flaws! it's the best thing they ever did live, imho.
What flaws?
Genius!!!! How do you turn a studio masterpiece into this monster piece is beyond talent????!!! !!!!….. and live no less!!!
This is my absolute favorite version of this song. It just takes you on a hell of a journey, and leaves satisfied until the very end.
Hands down the best Zepplin Jam. That Organ Bass Tone Blows the doors off any Bass tone I've heard. Masterful Collaboration of talent and skill.
This solo and the whole band is like a storm, it comes gently, get stronger and stronger, makes a mass and then goes away as it came. then you sit and ask, what was just happen..?
Jimmy's solo is mind blowing, wish they filmed him playing it to see it ,one of the best ever No quarter,
Imagine any band from the last 40 years coming up with something like this? Couldn't and wouldn't. This song really has it all, a true journey and masterpiece.
The uncut version. Thank YOU!
The cut version is so fucked. It’s like slinging a piece of shit on the Mona Lisa.
Just imagine this was your first Zep show. You knew the albums were gold, then you hear the organs and the guitar riff.
Rock gods who toured earth in particular Madison Square garden in 1973
By far the best version of this song, I never get tired of this
This version, especially that solo, just mesmerizes you. Used to love to watch this with a few friends and some beers back in the day. This piece is timeless.

This is the best version available of this masterpiece.
It is! More feeling to it.
It's other-worldly!
Jimmy page's greatest guitar solos ever ,just incredible ,wish they filmed it just to watch him play it ,and john bonhams playing the drums to his leads just mind blowing
Jimmy Page's solo is a song in itself
It's like beings from another galaxy are speaking through Jimmy's guitar.
Studio version is nice, but nowhere near this good. This performance is pure magic.
studio version is a bit groovier on the chorus. but this version shines in every other aspect
John Paul Jones..............Piano!!

One of their best songs. So much better than the studio version on houses of the holy, it's hard to believe it's the same song
Completament d'acord, amic.
This Original Song Remains the Same album is zeppelin at their peak in my opinion, the band is very tight and flawless and flat-out amazing with perfect versions of several of their songs
Completely agree. If ever someone were to ask “what Zeppelin album should I buy”, I would tell them this in a heart beat. It’s their best work, bar none.
I remember at 11 yrs old borrowing this album from a friend and playing it on the family stereogram (!) and being drawn in to the otherworldliness of No Quarter. A wonderful piece of music which I've always returned to. I'm in my 58th year now. 😊
T H A N K Y O U!!!!!!!!!!
Finally, the original track, as recorded. Sadly, one loses the crispness the remaster had. Too bad Page couldn't have the artistic integrity to remaster the sound quality without shuffling around the arrangement itself! He had perfection in the first version. It just needed a little less audio mud. Of course, in the end, it's just me bitching because I could NEVER do anything musical like this. :D
And Boham and Jonse was so on point together it was crazy!!!
Oh, David I do agree, it was so silly to edit the huge guitar solo which was an absolute masterpiece on the original double LP... This shortened version is still great but it's a pity it's got edited, realy. SO now, I've got a great remaster with a few modifications (and the four extra pieces missing from the LP, OK) but I need to listen to the poor sounding original CD or the old cratchy LP to hear the best version ever of No Quarter, with Page's fantastic guitar solo. My top favourite, I think.
"your piano", Karen ? I'm glad you feel like me about the guitar solo, anyway. :o))
This isn't actually how it was recorded, this version is comprised of 2 shows cut together and the remastered versions are comprised of 3 shows cut together.
@Big White Duck IMO the version that is comprised of two shows, it's a bit longer and has an extra solo in it.
As far as my all time favorite version it is most definitely the one from 1973.05.13, you can find it in this compilation:
th-cam.com/video/Al2sZyAKbSE/w-d-xo.html
Also has a killer version of TSRTS that is miles better than the offical version.
People always want get into futile debates of who was the best band ever? who is the greatest guitarist singer drummer and lose sight of how magical some music is and just fucking enjoy it. is just amazing how bonham gives it all in this song, he just keep making delicius fills and his responses to the music are just ridiculously spot on, and with an incredible sound in the whole drum kit
One of the best live solos ever played. Conveyed the mood and urgency of the song perfectly.
Jimmy is unbelievable....at 07:39 thru 07: 49 .. he actually squeezes the strings and neck of his guitar...What a sound....
The technique is called vibrato, not really that hard
@@brettcharlton1534 Iam talking about the sound not the technigue.
Jimmy’s tone comes from his hands
Pretty clean set up not overdriven
He does it with his hands
@michaelpeccerillo2466 Page used "line drivers", which are not overdrive units, clean signal boosters. These into a distorted, or slightly distorted amp can make legato playing A LOT easier. Effortless. If you play guitar try clean boosting the signal into your amp with a stompbox equalizer. That's what Page was up too, he kept this method mostly secret, but enough research reveals the truth.
That solo is MINDBLOWING
This is by far the best version of this song. The rock blues is pure perfection.
Happy to see so many comments saying this is Page’s best solo ever, because I’ve always felt it is. THIS. VERSION of the track. Travesty that it was butchered so badly in the actual movie and then the butchered version surfaces on the remaster. If I was going to introduce someone to Zeppelin, I’d let them hear TSRTS on side one and then this. If they didn’t get it, I’d write them off as a lost cause and say ‘have a nice life.’ THIS kind of brilliance is why Zeppelin is the best rock band ever.
