All you kids who are playing this for your concerts, this is what you want your band to sound like. Any of our service bands are excellent role models for your ensemble.
It bothers me how calm this band is, especially with the jazzy bit with the brass. I don't know if it was just my band but the whole brass and percussion section would become pure crackheads. God I miss band
This is about the cleanest, up-tempo renditions of Sleigh Ride I've ever heard...the articulation even in the low brass and woodwinds is just outstanding!
Hey at least you aren't like those annoying ass people that say that they're in middle School and play this arrangement. Even though have of them are just being annoying
Honestly the tempo they’re going is just right, it’s too perfect it’s not too slow and not too fast some high schools be playing this piece super fast but doesn’t sound good
When my high school played this piece we went a little quicker each time the melody was played until the last time the melody was played then back to piece tempo it somehow worked out
This has always been one of my favorite band arrangements. As of right now, we're playing this for a winter concert in December for our high school concert band. I believe it's very well arranged and combined with the tone from highly experienced navy band makes it sound even better!
When my band played this in highschool, the trombone section, my section, convinced our band director do conduct the whip by doing the whip. I'm glad our band was really good, because we were all trying our hardest to play and not laugh at the fact we got a 60 year old guy to whip during a concert. Good times
By far the best rendition of this song imo. The clarinets sound clear, the tempo is fast, the horse whinny was perfect, everything sounds amazing. The only mild complaint I have is that it doesn’t that full, it’s still fine though
The importance of the slapstick role cannot be overemphasized! Best given to the student that is recalcitrant, negatively influential to peers, and not originally interested in music! This seems to always seem to get such students hooked for life! (My personal experience though ). I listen to this almost every month of the year. Thanks to my Dad who had and played it on his 45 RPM in the late 70s and early 80s .......He seemed so determined to expose all his children to quality music from across the globe! Today I am a recipient of that determination - A music teacher! With love from Nigeria!
We can still enjoy seasonal music, such as this, after Christmas, and still be “in season”. “Winter Wonderland” is another. And “Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow”…..also, besides, Christmas never goes away…..it stays in our hearts in one way or another.
The ensemble balance in this performance is unmatched. Never have I heard this piece performed as well as it is here. There were some aspects of the song that I did not know existed until listening to this. Truly incredible!

This is my first time seeing a calm percussionist.
All I want for Christmas is some calm percussionist
