I also play flute and piccolo and did when I was still in the Army (I'm retired Sergeant First Class). Seeing the conductor do that was a first for me, too! Wow!
I wish this comment aged well lol. Most military bands are on the way out. Special bands like this are just that. The best musicians in the country. Sadly, military music as a whole is on the way out. At least 4 Army Bands closing just this year 2024.
One of the best performances of this piece out there! The tempo, the piccolo, everything was crisp and about as near to perfection as a group can come!
@user-vc2od1wg9o I'd like to see Russia even try to touch what only ONE of our military bands 😂😂 Probably won't even be in tune! can't even properly invade tiny Ukraine 😂😂😂 Try again commie! USA for life!! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸✨️✨️
As a former piccolo player, I always appreciate how fun of a piece this is. And I love that the conductor stepped aside to give full attention to the piccolo players. That sort of respect is amazing to see.
Outstanding! Thanks to all of our vets for their sweat, blood, and even their lives for our Freedom. God Bless America. Happy 249th Birthday this Sunday November 10 to every Marine who has ever served our great Nation, I feel grateful and proud to be an American. Happy Veterans Day!
1) Look at the alto sax player in the back during the piccolo solo! So sweet! 🥰 2) I saw the Marine Band play this live and since I'm a flute player, my friends who were with me were nudging me and watching my reactions during that piccolo solo and saying "Look, they're all in tune!"
I was fortunate to be able to play trombone on this wonderful song at All-State Band. One of my best memories playing in band. Love the brass line in this!
What's the 4th without "Stars and Stripes Forever"-- and top it off with the US Navy band. I have goosebumps! AND....my Dad played with the band during WWII!!
Increible que tal energía para tocar mis felicitaciones a todos los integrantes de la orquesta y en especial al que dirige la orquesta muy excelentes saludos desde lima peru
I'm bringing this up in my seminar tomorrow to discuss brass band music of the 19th century, I'm glad to share a bit of the US in the UK. I miss playing in band sometimes!
I wish I were older so I could play something like this.. I think this song is a grade 4 This song is genuinely so good Maybe I’ll get to play it in Highschool ! :D
Out of three United States military band that played this song, which are The United States Marine Band, The United States Army Field Band, and The United States Navy Band, I like the Navy Band's Stars and Stripes Forever the best! There are a few reasons: First, the very beginning of the song is louder than other two bands, which gives people the feeling of shock and power! Second, The US Navy band used a very unique arrangement that has a lot of intresting elements that I did not hear in other two bands' performance. Third, The US Navy Band is the only Syphonic orchestra in military bands!
In August, 1941, when Winston Churchill first boarded USS Augusta (CA-31), to meet initially meet Franklin Roosevelt in Plecenta Bay, Newfoundland, the ship’s band played Stars and Stripes Forever. That, of course, was the momentous gathering - less than four months before Pearl Harbor was attacked - where the Atlantic Charter was written and the US/UK were forever bound in brotherhood, loyalty and friendship. I have, however, always particularly appreciated the message sent by FDR that America would endure and prevail.
If Mr. Mike Pence is totally Innocent, Virtuous person, if possibple, let him be the next US President, All American People!! My US SGI members would agree with me! Thanks so much!
My son is the principle tuba player in the Navy Band. Great performance!
I would be very proud too. Congrats!
Congratulations!! That is something to be very proud of, I would be if I were you!
Tell him that Jade Breitstein of Texas says thank you for his service
hey did a great job
Congratulations sir, and good luck to you and your son
I play piccolo and I’ve never had a conductor step off the podium when the piccolo plays the solo, he showed them so much respect!
THANK YOU FOR MAKING IT NOTICE.
Also points out that they are a self-contained unit and he can add nothing to their great skills and dedication
That is more a traditional thing you would expect when treating it as a sort of mini piccolo concerto.
Piccolos are beautiful, in all Democratic anthems from La Marseillaise to this.
I also play flute and piccolo and did when I was still in the Army (I'm retired Sergeant First Class). Seeing the conductor do that was a first for me, too! Wow!
The U.S. has so many military bands, just the combined size of its musicians' corps must rival that of some smaller nations' entire military. 😜
I think the only instrument the military doesn’t have a group for is, surprisingly, the fife.
@@handlesarecringe957 doesn't the army old guards have fife in there band ?
@@daichishimmura9886 The Army 3rd Infantry Regiment includes a fife and drum corps.
What do you expect? We're the most powerful nation in human history!

I am playing the piccolo solo for this at my high school with the navy band tomorrow! Excited and nervous now that I’ve just seen how speedy they go 😬
Best piccolo part in the entire military march repertoire.
How did it go?
How was it mate?
I hope you did great!!
I wonder how it went
Watching the US Navy band play the most patriotic march.... feelin' pretty topped up on American spirit right now. What a performance.
I've probably heard this played hundreds of times but this is the best piccolo solo ever. Just perfect!
th-cam.com/video/a-7XWhyvIpE/w-d-xo.html
:)
You got that right..
If Sousa had written no march except this one, he'd still be an amazing conductor. Sheer brilliance when played by a good band.
Not bad for a bunch of Swabbies. 🥰🥰🥰 I love them one and all. Navy 1964-1968
This march always brings chills, and sometimes tears. What a great performance!
Me too. the tears. I want to go home USA.
THE FOUR PICCOLOS ALL PLAYING TOGETHER AT THE SAME TIME??? omg
This march is a national treasure. This performance is perfect: balance, intonation, dynamics. Thank you!
'best online version I've heard yet. Kudos to the entire ensemble, particularly piccolos, trombones, euphonia, and tubas.
They were soft and sweet 😍🎂 as hell !!!!!
Thank you, Navy Band, for having the only decent-quality recording of this song I could find!
If you even come across a "World's Greatest Marches" CD, they have some great sounding music too.
Thank you for posting.
This impeccable performance has so much spirit, pizazz and cheer that my 11-yr-old-students spontaneously got up and marched around the room

Many US Troops Music Corps are playing one of my most favorite music by Sausa, the Stars and Strips Forever". Thanks so much!

I love John Philip Sousa's incredibly brilliant music. My appreciation is extended to the U.S. Navy Band's excellent performance.

Capt. Collins did a good job! Thanks for stopping by in TN!
Very nicely done! There is nothing like a Sousa march, particularly our national march, performed by a precise and disciplined military band.
When I was younger every time I would here the melody of this song @ 1. It would make me think of Dr Sues “be kind to your small person freinds “
Happy Independence Day, America.
Happy 245th Birthday.

A message from a grateful American Patriot
Precise, like the aim of the Navy's cannons.

I like the man with brass instrument who smiles when the girls play piccolo.

An outstanding performance of this number! Performing indoors makes a better environment for capturing the full range of the instruments.
Thank you for sharing this wonderful work! Congratulations Navy Band.
I love Bands, there awesome!!
I love this country.
One of the best playings I have ever heard. Its perfect.
BEAUTIFUL. , EXCEPTIONALLY WELL DONE 👏 ✔️

Gives me chills every time I hear it. I prefer when the performing band has the brass section stand for the finale, though.
Marine 1972-99.

what a beautiful song. makes me wish i was still patriotic.

I'm a heavy metal head banger normally. I appreciate this piece, and the US Navy band!!
What that band needs is a good banjo player. Bring in Haley Stiltner. 🤩

There should also be a fife (or two) in the horn pipe played by the piccolos. So neat!
