There's some missing points on your end: 1- upgradability 2- variety of choices 300$-5000$ laptops Also as an engineer it's literally not an option since 80%+ of the software I need isn't even available on Mac. I think it boils down to the person's needs and choice there is no clear winner
imo after switching to windows, I love it, its honestly really customisable. Even down to the accent color and what the gestures on the trackpad do. Windows is a clear winner for me
The Dell XPS 15 is no slouch, and there are very few options, if any, that will give you a better, smoother Windows experience. Windows feels like it was made for developers and technicians and MacOS always feels like it was made for... people. And I'm someone who has used Windows almost exclusively. But there are things which are hard to deny. In terms of pure, uninterrupted and joyful interaction with your laptop, Macs are just... better.
@@Centrinario smoother window experience? This is why this test is odd. Windows has so many options available for whatever "windows experience" you're looking for. For example: You're a gamer - you go with a more gaming focused option. Mac has...1 option. The Mac. Not to discredit it as it is a great computer in itself, but you are kinda pigeonholed to 1 option. The Dell is something I would never choose as my option, and others might. I use a MacBook every single day for work (music engineering) and can say when it comes to fun and joy out of my computer, that's typically from my PC, not my Mac
@@CentrinarioWindows is really bad for developers when compared to linux and even mac due to drivers, the many quirks of the Windows window manager and much more. Microsoft even kind of acknowledged it when developing WSL.
As much as I would like to buy a macbook, for the awesome screen, baterry, sound, optimization it has,the lack of compatibility with apps is in my opinion what makes macbook pretty much useless,I want to be able to use any and every app out there,I am not a person that just sticks to 2 or 3 tools that everyone uses and calls it a day,I need customizability to be able to use apps that were just released and that no one would think of using.
Yeah, it is not for everyone, but assuming that the apps you need are on both platforms then the Macs are simply better. This was not even a fair test as you can get a MB Pro 14 M2 Pro for a similar price to the XPS 15 ATM!
I think you missed an extremely important point here, which is upgradability. I replaced the battery on my 5 year old Dell XPS 15, and it is basically all new. If you are someone who likes some tinkering, you can also upgrade the ram, ssd, wifi card, do repasting and undervolting. I did all that in addition to switching to a linux operating system, and my laptop is performing much better than a new/stock laptop. Edit: Some have pointed out that you can also upgrade on a MacBook, and you are absolutely right! Though for my XPS 15 and other Windows laptops, switching batteries is very simple and I paid about 60€ for a 97Wh battery. Another point is also that you can set the charging limit to say 75% which preserves its life expectancy even more. I am not sure if it is possible on a Mac though.. At the end of the day I think both laptops are amazing, it just depends on what you value more :)
@@andyH_Englandyeah for sure bro. But i am pressing 'x' to doubt. Contrary to popular beliefs Batteries aren't magic. Ain't no freakin way ur batteries are still doing good after 8 f yrs.
@@naqibfarhan4356 I only charge my battery to 80% and that increases the life cycles by around two times. When on power I use the battery at 50% which reduces degradation. I think if you know what you're doing, and know how to preserve batteries you can make them last. Last. Sadly many people just abuse them and think they will last forever and then start whining when they don't.
@@naqibfarhan4356 batteries aren't magic, but even the internal design, the quality of lithium used and most importantly - the BMS - have a great impact on the longevity of the cells. So yes, a battery can last 8 years, if you take good care of it and it was a good battery from the start.
I think repairability should also be an important factor. Apple is soldering SSDs and locking sensors and doing all kinds of shenanigans which make repairs either a nightmare, or so cost prohibitive that buying a replacement becomes a viable option. Perhaps not very important for those who can afford to buy two $1600 laptops, but most consumers don't have that kind of money, and people often tend to go over-budget with laptops because "Its an investment, it will last many years".
They are know for fuckup your own phones in purpose, hire jailbreakers to add their customs features and as you say repairing is a nightmare, remember not long ago not all repair shops will be able to to repair iphones since there is a soft which will know if the hardware part is coming from apple or not

On the security side you’re half right. Yes, Mac is far less susceptible to viruses and other attacks. BUT, once a Mac gets infected it’s an absolute horror show because there are also less tools and far less knowledge on how to remove nasty viruses from Macs. Oh and you should have gone with “a subscribe would be MACnificent” 🤭
To be fair macos has very good tools to prevent it from getting to that stage at all which windows still needs to catch up on. To be honest, I don’t think it’s a lot more harder to remove viruses from macs than from windows at least from my perspective
MacOS has a wonderful thing called SIP (System Integrity Protection). All system files are on a read only partition and cannot be modified. Not even by root. So your system will likely never become corrupt. Malware Bytes can removed the vast majority of malware on MacOS. And by default, MacOS won't even open an application if it isn't signed by Apple. And if you want to bypass that, the OS will still complain until you right-click and then click Open on the application. And on top of all this, if software wants to gain access to your files, you have to explicitly allow it. In Photoshop, if I save a file to a folder, then I get a pop up from the OS saying "Photoshop wants access to XYZ Folder, allow/deny". All of this is of course moot if someone finds a kernel level exploit, or some kind of exploit in the OS to gain system rights. Although, again, Apple has auto-patching of the system if they gain wind of an exploit like this. Once a fix is made, your machine will be patched right away, making you safe from it.
Thats why linux is the best middle ground if you dont consider the stability...if you wanna mess with security, kali linux, or if normal desktop, ubuntu or mint OS@@game_time1633
@@game_time1633 I mean, Windows has Smart App Control. What do you think they'd need to add? My only problem is there isn't a lot of scientific reasoning for these. Like you said the displays were really similar but then have it to the Mac just because of resolution. There are still color accuracy, refresh rates and other things for almost every category you have set up.
@@BobRossRightHand he never mentioned color just resolution and brightness! And again for other categories there are other subtleties that could go either way.

One issue I have with this video is that Arun should have played songs for the speaker tests cause if he only shows a video of him speaking for a speaker test, we would only be able to hear the high and mid range frequency performances of the speakers. In addition to that driver performance, sound detail, and bass etc are very important and to test that playing music would have been way better.
As a software developer compatibility is a big thing for me.. I have had macs in the past.. and they aren't even compatible with themselves, it seems that major OS updates frequently break various applications.. with Windows I have apps that I have written from the 90s that still continue to work even on Windows 11!
True, I couldn't run the backend that my old boss run at all, have to do alot of stupid hacky things with npm version and every packages of that project, that took me 2-3 days to configure, until I bought msyelf a window laptop, and could run it easily without having to configure anything except the npm version itself. And you can use WSL2 to develop web server on Linux for maximum compatibiliity!!!! How crazy is that??? You can even run Bash command on a cmd with WSL installed!!!! Like that's a deal breaker for me right there. I wish I don't need a mac to release fking IOS app. Hate that shit to the core.
Yes, because Microsoft doesn't get rid of the old libraries, which is great for compatibility, but also pretty bad for some developers. I heard a lot about how these libraries are a nightmare to work with. Also you can see how Microsoft doesn't get rid of some UI stuff and other things which were used for example on Windows 7. I am currently on Windows 11 but in some applications when I alt+tab I see Windows 7 UI show for a brief moment.
@@sh1dori366 Microsoft has very little to do with libraries nor would i know what libraries they offer other than some window hooks and some stuff in C# that nobody uses .Net is dead....the x86 & x64 architectures use pretty ancient structure... but unless you're programming in machine code that really doesn't concern you.... and neither MacOS nor Windows is written in Machine Code since they dropped the dependency on Dos & Unix
Had to switch to mac for this very reason. It's just that much better when it comes to video editing. I Still use windows and almost exclusively use my macbook pro for editing. For everything else windows will always have my heart. .
i think there are some other windows laptop benefits you are forgetting about. To start, the number of options you have when buying a laptop means that, like android, you can get a device better suited for you. Additionally, you don't even have to use Windows on said laptop. Linux can get you that same level of integration that you might find on Mac, but will run faster and look better without needing to use the command line. Also, windows laptops have MUCH better upgradeability/repairability. If you really wanted to, you could buy a framework and swap out every single part, or even just a normal device and upgrade ram and ssd.
@@BobRossRightHandwhat do you mean that ipgradeability is the same for Windoes and Mac? You havent been able to upgrade anything on a Mac dince 2017 and I get that it isnt great on newer Windows but you can still get upgradeble and repaireble Windows machines. Sorry for spelling.
But not my Mac I can have windows and Linux all ready to boot whichever one I wish. I can run windows on my Mac, Linux or MacOS. So MacOS is the winner for me
@@DanInghammodern macs cannot due this due to the ARM architecture. You can’t run windows natively on ARM. (I know windows for ARM exists but it’s nowhere near the same)
There should be an added category for upgradability and repairability. Considering most users use their laptop for a long time, there will be issues with components, some might not be good enough for your current use case. Upgrading a laptop can make it last much longer, same goes for repairability. Thats where I think apple would get minus points, their repair costs are so high you might as well buy a new pc
you still can't upgrade CPU and GPU on the Windows machines though, so that argument goes right out of the window. RAM and storage are the only negatives and these don't actually increase performance which is needed as tasks get more demanding. On desktops, yes, full win. The desktop Macs don't even stand a chance.
@@PvtAnonymous While you do have a point, RAM and SSD upgrades are still a huge thing for people who want longevity. RAM in some cases can help a lot with performance if you used to have 8/16GB and need more. It's also relieving to know you can upgrade your storage at any point you want, rather than having to get a brand new laptop just to upgrade to more SSD.
@@agiverreviga4592 as someone working in the laptop repair industry, I can tell you from experience that very few people actually upgrade their computers. This is only a thing among tech-savvy people, everyday-consumers don't really care, even if they can upgrade every single component. Sad truth. Would be nice if you didn't have to go through such hassle with microsoldering to upgrade RAM and SSDs in Macs, but I honestly just buy the config I need from the start. No one complains about lack of upgradability in phones, so neither do I about computers.
the only comment that matters here. but this channel is not very objective when it comes to "apple-fan-boyizm" . SSDs have lifetime span, try to replace one on a MAC - impossible
Honestly, the Mac vs Windows laptop depends a lot of type of workflow. By that i mean that if your work usually involves the same general task, with very minimal or no need for alternative software in the future, then if mac has it and you are already in the ecosystem, the discussion is practically over. However, when you have a workflow that involves a lot of new tools and experimenting constantly, you'd want that assured compatibility that windows offers, so you don't one day find out it doesn't work on your mac. That being said, I can't help but notice that you pitch this comparison for editing purposes, but then pivot to analyze stuff that's not really related to that, like the webcam. So you keep alternating between a pro user view and average joe one. And on that point, i find this comparison to have an Identity crisis, cause you're essentially comparing a device that has both its hardware and software from the same source to another where the OS is from Microsoft but the hardware is from Dell. And then bring up points of optimisation of OS on said device. I get the intention, but at this point you're not really genuinely comparing the devices themselves, but stating the obvious, that something will be more optimised if done by the same people. In all honesty, i feel this should have been with a Mac OS vs Windows comparison, analyzing the actual systems alone, OR have the Mac go against, at the very least, a Microsoft laptop, to at least have the possibility of comparing from the same starting line (referring to OS and Hardware being handled by same entity). I usually love your style of focusing on user experience a lot in your videos, but i feel that benefits more phones, where UX is arguably the biggest part of it. Because when it comes to laptops or computers in general, UX takes a step back for anyone who plans to use them for more than just the average office suite apps and net browsing, as at that point it's less about the UX of laptop itself and more about the capabilities of said apps. What i mean is, essentially, that you can't compare laptops in the same way you do phones, simply stating surface level stuff regarding the spec sheet and then just UX. Stuff like thermals, upgradability, none of which were addressed, are important. Now I don't mean nor want/expect you to go full Linus Tech Tips on analysing individual components. That's not my point. But things like: -presenting just one benchmark alone in regards to overall performance, when there's cases of some being overly optimised for Intel architecture, therefore may seem unfair to the Mac. (It can even be unfair for windows with an AMD CPU) - 0 mention of thermals, which is, arguably, one of the most important points for a laptop as that determines whether you'll even be able to use your system regardless of how optimised it is. I think this matters more than how loud or silent it is. -if we're talking video editing, actual export times Lack of these in a laptop match-up, even for general users, it makes it seem disingenuous in both directions, and I know you're not that kind of tech reviewer. Awaiting the next video. Cheers!
You've echoed my sentiments, i feel like most of these "Tech" youtubers doesn't really understand the technology itself and are good at reviewing spec sheet, adding to above, unlike iOS vs Android, usability matters significantly in personal computing space, for ex: for STEM based applications, Mac OS is practically useless. All the tech youtubers just try to generalize and measure performance based on creative workloads as if these machines were designed only for creative.
Don't forget that the Arm Architechure and the X86 Architechure are not the the same Arm = less power consumption & less performance X86 = More performance & more power consumption Its this entire video is pretty to sum it up is Which is better a phone thats on a laptop chassis with the best phone Cpu or a premium laptop
@@alphamind1 i wouldn't say that's bad by design necessarily. Like, I've always seen Arun and people with similar review styles as the 'tech TH-camr' for the average user' kind of person. Naturally, they'll attract people beyond the 'general user' group as well, that's a given. It's just that I felt he tried too much to apply the strategy of reviewing one product category to another without really taking into account that they require entirely different standards. In the sense that the average user of a laptop is way more technologically apt, and therefore has expectations of things beyond looking and feeling nice, than the average user for a phone, simply due to the more complex nature of a laptop. In a more extrapolate sense, it'd be like if JerryRigEverything, who started making videos related to cars here and there would go and test the durability of a screen the car has in the center console, to see how it scratches, for example, cause he does that for phones. It's not as relevant in the grand scheme of things. Or, in the opposite direction, a TH-camr reviewing a car and not once mentioning fuel consumption, in the same way this video, for some reason, avoided the topic of temperatures and high sustained load.
When considering Windows laptops, it's important to note that the Dell XPS 15 isn't the only option available. For example, Framework Laptops have a modular design that allows for individual components to be upgraded, such as RAM, storage, and even the CPU. This feature extends the lifespan of the laptop and keeps it current with the latest technology, giving it an advantage over Macs which are notoriously difficult to upgrade. In addition to its modular design, Framework is dedicated to sustainability and reducing electronic waste. They also offer a transparent supply chain, which is uncommon in the tech industry. While Macs have their strengths, the flexibility, sustainability, and transparency of Framework Laptops make them a compelling choice.
Keep in mind that Mac puts their BIOS on the SSD, and you can't replace the ssd. So when your storage drive dies, your computer turns into a paperweight, with no way to boot into an external drive or replace the SSD. Louis had a video recently about this
This is more or less right, but misleading (And I did watch Louis’ video. If the SSD dies (Which is a common problem with the 2019 MacBook Pro, DEFINITELY DON’T buy that) the computer doesn’t turn into a paperweight, unless you don’t want to send it to Apple or one of their third party repair options if Apple isn’t on your country, you can’t repair it yourself but Apple can definitely replace the SSD. So basically, if you don’t want to send it to Apple for a repair, that’s fine, but then don’t cry because “My computer is a paperweight”.
for 99% of people yeah, but technically there does appear to be a way around this. Luke Miani just had a vid w/ dosdude where they were able to replace the ssd chips on a mac studio and flash a new bios on them to upgrade the storage to 2tb. involves soldering which is why is said technically, but it seems possible.
One very important factor for me is upgradeability/repairability. Today's Macs have everything soldered in and paired, even the SSD, which is a component that wears out with use over time. On a Mac you're screwed if the SSD fails, whereas on pretty much every other laptop you can just buy another M.2 SSD and replace it easily by yourself. I want a device that I actually own, not one where every component is soldered and paired, and the manufacturer is actively trying to prevent me from repairing it or doing whatever else I want to do on my own device. EDIT: This is why Framework's offerings are very appealing to me. If they're available in my region by the time I need my next upgrade, I'm buying one!
The only thing u can upgrade in most slim sized windows laptops is the ssd Which you can expand with a thunderbolt ssd on MAC. When it comes to laptops, battery, performance, not dissipating heat, Mac takes the lead. Mac trackpad has no competition. I have a business laptop from dell and M1 MacBook pro. The comfort of using the mac on my lap and no need to worry about constant charging is unbeatable for me.
While it's easy to agree with this video, it still boils down to what a user wants. I can't help but feel this was a battle between Apple and Dell instead of Windows which is a tough one. There are 2-in-1s, ultra portables, gaming machines, desktops, touchscreens too just on the windows side alone and these will make me go Windows every single time.
Keep in mind how overpriced Mac’s are. Macs also have 2 in ones, desktops, etc, but they’re overpriced as hell. Even WHEELS for the desktop are $600 where I live
I have a Mac and came from a Windows machine. One thing I'll say is that for me Windows just makes so much more "sense" in some ways. Like the mechanics for switching chrome windows is so much harder on mac. Or like how Finder doesn't organize ut files symmetrically when ur on the icons setting.
Windows to Mac switcher here and I totally agree with you. Adding to what you said I miss having the taskbar and the ability to peak into minimized applications.
The Dell XPS 15 doesn't represent all Windows laptops as there is a lot, and they can very drastically. That is a great benefit to Windows (and others), you aren't just stuck with three or four choices. Also with the display category what about color?
funny i went to the store and got my self a legion slim 7i with i7-13700h and a rtx 4070 with 165hz qhd display and i just used it side-side with my brothers mb13 while the trackpad of mb is defintelty unmatched the rest is a solid . like without any specialized optimisation adobe results are good and a full load of sot last about 4 hours is well . i played forza on high settings and managed to get 4 hrs to multimedia could get me somewhere 10-12 hrs. so i think win laptops are good but since we are talking about proffesional video editing and adobe made it apple then Arun is Right here.
@@thatguy.0124Adobe is not just about video editing. There are dozens of other softwares they offer in different fields. Mac has an advantage only in video rendering times. Gonna be honest with you Arun, there are better Windows laptops you can get for that same $1600. Wouldn't really put this as an apples to apples comparison.
Dude could have bought a gaming laptop wit 1600 with literally better specs. I was like, Dell vs Macbook? bruhh... theres tons of other brands out there better than the macbook
My only problem with these sorts of comparisons is that it doesn't take into account how important something is, for example I wouldn't say that the unboxing experience is nearly as important as the performance of a computer, yet they are both still worth 1 point each. I understand that for the sake of simplicity it's easier to compare both of them, but I don't think that you can say you have a "winner" based on whichever machine has more points.
Yeah you inbox it once, and then it’s in the storage or bin. Good to have a nice unboxing experience at the cost but isn’t important. If you’re getting it for work / from work you’ll most likely get it unboxed anyway.
I think that at the end of the day, it depends on the workflow. If I was, for example, a graphic designer that travels a lot or prefers to show results to clients in meetings, I would choose a Mac. But in my case, I'm an industrial automation programmer, I use a lot of VMs and software that only runs on windows, so I don't care too much about color accuracy and prefer performance, storage, if it's upgradeable and I also like gaming. So both are good if it fits your workflow.
yeah i agree, you could use a vm for your mac to have windows and mac, but if u use windows as your main, its very hard for you to have a macos vm. totaly agree.
I mean it depends in graphics as well over time... Final cut definitely works like a beast on the system but I'm a da Vinci resolve user, for me it doesn't give it's best over time.
Then, they could've had a 2009 windows machine and iBook to compare the OSes then. That's not the idea of the video. The sole purpose is what their *markets* offer. Though, they did cover major stuff between the two OSes, so (insert shrug emote). I don't think a 2009 windows machine with Windows 11 & an iBook compared could have the same experience as the flagship laptops they've compared here.

I fully agree, but that option makes it quite a bit more expensive unfortunately. At that price point you are competing with the MacBook Pro, which also has a stunning XDR display. Also, I find that the OLED drains the battery a bit faster

Dell XPS vs 16 generation Mac is not fair! The Mac is newer! (Just the Mac’s version is older.) And Windows is better than MacOS! So the crown has windows!
Edit: GUYS OMG ITS A JOKE 😂 Did you think Arun would let the invisibility thing go in his video lmao A couple things I’ve noticed on the editing Biggest one is the text for me, mainly the font. It’s now comic sans which is more of a meme font, whereas it used to stand out in the video, be more aesthetically pleasing colour wise and use plain white translucent for the meme text There’s also a couple of odd transitions like the star one towards the start of the video. There’s also not much visual stuff, it’s more minimalist, removing the counter and timer. When showcasing the editing at around the 14 minute mark, there were some odd choices, the pixelation and an odd clip of a frame at 14:53, just looked a bit strange to me, especially with the gradient on the side At 0:24 the invisibility thing didn’t work at all imo, it looked a bit clunky, given the screen on the plate shot didn’t match the colour and the shoulder is still visible. Also didn’t really see the point of that. Can also still see Jozef in the back after receiving the mac which looked a bit awkward but that’s not part of the editing Overall it’s quite nice though, not too different but also refreshing!
Exactly my comment is this the first time I saw an editing mistake in Arun's vid?? at 0:23 . Okay I completed the video just now, who edited this video, this looks like absolute newbie, the fonts? The colors? The stroke? the transition? What is going on? Where is the original editor???
I went with a Windows desktop because I could get a more powerful GPU and 4x the storage for the price of a similarly priced Mac. Knowing that it'll run pretty much every piece of software is also a bonus. I have a lousy Windows laptop that I could see myself switching out with a cheap Macbook air, to take with me on travels and such. Both are fine and have their pros and cons
Just don't buy the entry-level M2 MBA. The SSD is problematic and you may do better with the M1 which is actually on sale at Best Buy right now for $ 750.

13:49 if you hold on the green button that is used to make the screen bigger, it will give you a drop down menu to choose left or right like halfscreens
On windows you just hover on the minimise button and a similar menu comes in, with options for what apps we want on the screen and where, at the same time
That's the way he acts with guests. Worst one is the video about the "giant iPhone". He took all the credit, the guinness record but wasn't even the one who built it.
A lot of the plus points you gave for Mac become huge negatives for me. The fact that its a regulated system etc really make it unusable for me. I have to use a Macbook and iPhone for work and I have the same complaints about both. My thoughts usually come down to "well its my device, I should be able to do what I want with it.". I hate the fact that I can't do simple tasks with my device because Apple decided I wouldn't want to.
@@Idler81643 A lot of it is hardware related. Once its out of date you're screwed. With Windows if I want to stick some more RAM in, upgrade the GPU or anything hardware related you can. From a software perspective, there are a lot of apps that just don't have a Mac version. Not much Apple can do about that but it still is a reason why I prefer Windows. Compatibility with my Android phone is a must too. The ability to copy and paste between Windows and Android is something I use daily.

And thats it. This is only example of basic things, and there are alot more too
My last MacBook was the MacBook Pro 15" 2015 which is still going strong today. The problem with the latest MacBook is the non replaceable SSD, which made me thinking of buying Dell XPS 15 with its dual slot NVME and replaceable RAM. The service manual is also provided by Dell themselves which I think good for the longevity of the product. Great video btw, but I think repairability is also an important aspect to be covered especially if you plan to use the device for a long time.
Yes apple don't want you to improve your MacBook, or even repair it, they are only want you to replace it, with a newer model as they are only interested in your cash.
i mean in terms of replaceability framework laptops are probably the best because you can replace everything down to even the motherboard and you can switch out the ports for the ones you want
It seems it really comes down to what you need to do on the machine. I use both, mac at work, windows at home. For every day business use... Mac just takes the upper hand when a big portion of the day is actually online meetings, the battery life is really nice too. Terminal on mac + everything that works natively vs switching to wsl on windows all the time is a big difference if you're affected by it for work. All the other details that makes setting up certain tools easier gives the mac the edge. However, as soon as you need something that is not supported on Mac.... Or simply for everything else: file system, interaction with anything other than apple products, window management, multitasking, gaming, feeling that the computer is tailored for yourself, up and coming Copilot integration etc. Windows just takes the win every single day..
@@journeywithjesus Yes. Absolutely. There is Mac version of Microsoft Office. The layout of menus and such stuff will look more like Mac thing. That is all.
I agree with this. I owned a windows laptop until my senior year of hs and still have my desktop that runs windows. That is the production quality which separates you from other youtubers, don't let it vanish
I don’t think that’s going to be the default editing style from now on. It feels purposely exaggerated (with the, let’s call them pop ups) to remind the viewer that he is editing it. The focus is on the editor. In the future they will focus on Aaron and will use less distracting visuals.
Some comments have mentioned this already, but I think the unnoticed deciding factor between these usually comes down to *familiarity*!! Many people don’t want to learn a whole new operating system, even if it might be better than the one they know
@@adityachauhan7245I’ve used a windows computer all my life, and besides windows 7 it’s been a nightmare. but Mac sounds like a dream, glad I’m getting one soon. Edit: I LOVE IT
Not necessarily, I'm a windows user from youth, but I always wanted to experience macos and when I had the chance I bought a MacBook Pro, still prefer windows for most of the taks, the MacBook I use it more for travel or documents, movie on bed, etc. And Windows for hard work.
@@darthwolfius7746 I've bounced between Windows and MacOS, and now I'm on Linux (Mint). Familiarity just doesn't matter to me (I'm a retired software engineer). I'm really liking Linux. To be honest, though, my PC usage is pretty basic - I mainly use it for web browsing. For some image and video editing, GIMP and Kdenlive are fine.
@@darthwolfius7746yupp. I have a great (in 2017 at least) windows desktop, but a MacBook Pro as a laptop. Honestly, it’s just the best of both worlds. Most things that you do in windows gain a lot from it being a desktop instead of a laptop (anything that’s graphic intensive, for example). The extra power allows you to do so many more things that just wouldn’t be feasible to do with a laptop. However, when it comes to a laptop that you need to bring everywhere you go, the MacBook really is the way to go. Unless you need to do anything that is only available on windows (like gaming), the MacBook will likely perform better. But as I said, unless it’s for work, having both a windows desktop and a MacBook allows you to get the best of both worlds (even if it might be a bit expensive)!
Just to let people know, NEVER buy a Lenovo computer. The hardware is horrible, I bought one and the hinge cracked and I couldn’t open it, so I bought another one and it cracked again. Repair people couldn’t fix it because they were backed up with people with the same problem 😢

The whole video used to have a consistent theme from font ,colour to effects 😢 It just felt weird for the 1st time watching a video that hasn't it's own character also for some reason he didn't choose transparent artifacts instead with background making them a Box style which is weird again to see on this channel 😅 11:42 Wait nothing changed 😢
I always love Arun's videos, and he had managed to convince me on his main points on every video he has ever made. I'm going to be honest, this one just kind of missed in my opinion. I'm not sure if windows was really done justice with that XPS, and he didn't really touch on how quickly Macs age compared to PCs software wise. The list goes on and on. Anyways, I think they're both good for their own reasons. Video/photo, creative work: Mac. Everything else: Windows.
My base model 2013 MacBook Pro lasted 9 years. And the only thing holding it back was RAM. I could still do light tasks no problem. Not bad for a base model. So what do you mean they age badly?
@devoneriggins7285 Good to hear. My freind has had her 2010 macbook pro since it was released and it has been really good to her besides the battery (which is to be expected) The hardware itself doesn't seem to be an issue (although modern macbooks have some pretty nasty anti repair tactics- see Hugh Jeffreys channel) its more the software updates they receive, and security, compatibility, and software operatization degrading over time. What forced her to upgrade was her photo editing platforms no longer being supported on her older mac. With windows you can just keep upgrading until your hardware simply can't run the OS smoothly anymore.
@@devoneriggins7285 My family have a 2009 MacBook Pro. It’s still going. 4:50 That webcam comparison was ridiculous. The Mac clearly had a white window open on screen or the room was completely lit up: there was no shadows on your face, your faces were evenly lit. Since 2018 I have been using both a windows and Mac laptop. In my experience mac became slower quicker and is a lot more difficult to use day to day. Battery life was similar with about 6 hours of usage. I also prefer the keyboards and trackpads on windows laptops, Mac’s don’t seem to register some of the keys I press if I type quickly. Also apps seem to work more fluently on windows.

He took 2 machines in the same price range and market, then compared them. It's fair. You could argue and ask why he didn't he use a macbook pro instead of an air, seen as they are better machines.
I don't really like how Jozef edited this video, although a lot of key aspects of "Mrwhosetheboss" style are kept, i find comparison sheet (the one with green ticks and red crosses) quite lazy done, compared to other comparison videos you made. Also a lot of small things are just not up to the quality, like "performance" letters at 8:17 , it just doesn't look good in my opinion. I don't mean to hate so hopefully you take it as a constructive criticism
Regarding secutity. It was hilarious when you could install kexts (kernel extensions) on macOS for years without any restrictions while on Windows you had to go through a certification by Microsoft (HLK) as well as comply with additional requirement to use digital code signing certificate to sign kernel drivers. So overall when it came to the design of the operating system to prevent maliciious kernel code execution Windows was (and still is) a way better and more secure.
Windows is safer in the worst-case scenario. Frist of all more people uses windows so more companies so there will be more people creating malware for it. Well, if there are more malware in windows Mac is safer? No, Apple have a history of pretending malware for mac doesn't exist and the biggest entry point for attacks is the user. I never had any security problems with windows since I was a dumb horny teenager.
@@a_plastic_bagIt means that it used to be easier for users on Macbooks who were careless enough to download and install something malicious that would severely fuck up the kernel

Luckily Dell also supports Linux well on their machines (like, I installed Ubuntu Unity on my Dell Latitude and with the next update I suddenly also had "Linux Firmware Updater" in the boot menu which allows me to update the bios from within Linux, just hit "Install", then reboot and it updates).
@@YannickBurkyyeah but Apple isn’t going to let you dual boot Linux very easily; that’s the main point. Apple makes it hard to change what they’ve given you
@@LaughMonkey Obviously not. Unix is a framework and Linux is a kernel (an OS). But for anyone that needs Linux, MacOS would do just fine if not better. That's the advantage of MacOS when you're working with computers - it's essentially Linux, but built with Apple quality for the average person. No Linux-like 'maintenance' needed, and no closed-source API-based OS like Windows.
@@nnillat Maybe MacOS needs less maintenance in some cases. I haven't had much maintenance on my Linux installs lately, my install of Ubuntu Unity 22.04 LTS needs only the occasional update which it tells me by popping up the update manager in the background where I can see it by its icon in the launcher lighting up. The only maintenance I need to do on that Ubuntu install (which, by the way, runs on an old Intel iMac) is made necessary by me because I like to tinker around with it and sometimes randomly decide to switch graphics drivers if I feel like so.
I traded in my MacBook Pro for Asus Zenbook 14 i7 and I absolutely love it with no looking back. I don't consider myself to be a technically challenged person, but I continuously struggled with Mac OS. Basic things used to take me much longer to locate in the Mac maze. On the other hand, I find Windows to be much more logical and easier to navigate even for a layman!!
Just got an Asus Zenbook Ryzen 7 and it is absolutely fantastic. The OLED display alone places it leagues ahead of any macbook, not to mention that Windows with PowerToys leaves MacOS in the dust. And it costs a fraction of the equivalent spec mac. Apple is a cult.

I've had both and like both but I have found that people who like Mac's tend to find reasons to make them "better" I'm honest in saying that I think both are good and depending what you use them for I can say either is better or worse.
people are very loyal and become very biased. This comment section is a mess. I have a Mac laptop and a windows desktop and I like having both. I get the both of best worlds. The performance and diversity of windows and the portability and comfort of Mac
I use both platforms daily and I like both, but one thing people don't take into account with Mac is that many of the simplest, everyday things are more difficult, mainly due to incompatibility. Want to use a 3rd party mouse with your Mac? You can forget about using the middle mouse button or the forward/back buttons unless you buy Logitech and install their software or special utilities. Game controllers, headsets, etc. There are many little quirks like that with peripherals and applications that you just don't realize until you get one. If you're really good with MacOS (like I am), you can find ways around most of these challenges, but many first-time buyers have limited knowledge of the OS and will struggle.
I’ve connected my Xbox controller via Bluetooth to my Mac and appleTv for some VERY light gaming with no issues at all. I have a wireless mouse made by MS and use it on my Mac with no issues. All the buttons work for me.
@@mikeb.4597 I never said "no devices work". I said that you will have compatibility issues with many peripherals. I have seen it with wired Xbox controllers, many different mice, printers, keyboards, headsets, etc. And by default, unless you're installing special software for the mouse, back and forward buttons do not work as expected.
I've had windows laptops all my life and just got a macbook air m1 and I'm completely shocked by the quality of the display, sound and performance, personally would never switch back, love it soo much.
Honestly? No matter what I did or do, instability has never really been an issue for me after Windows 7. The few times that I had to work around something (less than fingers on one hand) are a very small price for all the freedom and compatibility one has with Windows. And from 8 it became a lot safer for unexperienced users as well. And I love games, so my ROG Strix was a no brainer ^^
How?? I run into so many stability issues on windows ironically more often than not they are related to Microsoft products. At the moment Excel is unusable as it crashes so frequently (like every 2nd equation I enter). Worst part is I can't even uninstall and reinstall just Excel - you now have to uninstall the entirety of office 365 (word, powerpoint, outlook, etc.) and then reinstall them all - absolutely ridiculous. (Yet I find Microsoft apps running on macOS work absolutely great)
@@jelkk0349 Then clearly there is an issue with your rig. You think Excel would still sell if everyone in the world had it crashing constantly? Think before you write.
I watched the "comparison" out of pure curiosity, but I got some questions (I used both MacOS and Windows and Linux long enough to have my own opinion): - no keyboard comparison (Macbooks with an alternative layout are supplied to Europe, which requires getting used to), - no comparison of work in corporate networks, - no comparison of work in multi-user mode (work account and personal account), - the claim of resistance to hacking is very dubious, - and much, much more... In fact, the whole choice lies in the task: you need a beautiful laptop for sitting in a cafe - a Macbook, you need a working tool - any good laptop on Windows/Linux
We have both in our house. The desktop is a mac, we have iPhones and my wife uses an iPad. My laptop is a HP windows machine. I like the stability of apple products etc. but find that some types of software like microsoft products don't always translate things well, some types of applications don't really have much in the way of choice for mac but lots for windows. In my experience I say look at what you want the machine to do and pick the platform that has the apps.

You can upgrade a MB battery though in my many years of using Macs I have never had to. My MB Pro 15 from 2015 still has a healthy battery!

Once a fix is made, your machine will be patched right away, making you safe from it.

i think there are some other windows laptop benefits you are forgetting about.
I’ve noticed that many windows laptops are going less upgradeable
@@BobRossRightHandwhat do you mean that ipgradeability is the same for Windoes and Mac? You havent been able to upgrade anything on a Mac dince 2017 and I get that it isnt great on newer Windows but you can still get upgradeble and repaireble Windows machines.
Sorry for spelling.
THAT!
@@anonylesss it's not impossible, just very difficult.
This was 9 months ago in 2023, we are 5 months into 2024.
But things like:
-presenting just one benchmark alone in regards to overall performance, when there's cases of some being overly optimised for Intel architecture, therefore may seem unfair to the Mac. (It can even be unfair for windows with an AMD CPU)
- 0 mention of thermals, which is, arguably, one of the most important points for a laptop as that determines whether you'll even be able to use your system regardless of how optimised it is. I think this matters more than how loud or silent it is.
-if we're talking video editing, actual export times
Lack of these in a laptop match-up, even for general users, it makes it seem disingenuous in both directions, and I know you're not that kind of tech reviewer.
Awaiting the next video. Cheers!
You literally wrote nearly a video 🙌
@@pranavagga for a short, most likely
You've echoed my sentiments, i feel like most of these "Tech" youtubers doesn't really understand the technology itself and are good at reviewing spec sheet, adding to above, unlike iOS vs Android, usability matters significantly in personal computing space, for ex: for STEM based applications, Mac OS is practically useless.
All the tech youtubers just try to generalize and measure performance based on creative workloads as if these machines were designed only for creative.
Don't forget that the Arm Architechure and the X86 Architechure are not the the same
Arm = less power consumption & less performance
X86 = More performance & more power consumption
Its this entire video is pretty to sum it up is
Which is better a phone thats on a laptop chassis with the best phone Cpu or a premium laptop

Louis had a video recently about this
Hi fellow ROSSMANN REPAIR GROUP follower 👋

Edit: GUYS OMG ITS A JOKE 😂 Did you think Arun would let the invisibility thing go in his video lmao
A couple things I’ve noticed on the editing
Biggest one is the text for me, mainly the font. It’s now comic sans which is more of a meme font, whereas it used to stand out in the video, be more aesthetically pleasing colour wise and use plain white translucent for the meme text
There’s also a couple of odd transitions like the star one towards the start of the video. There’s also not much visual stuff, it’s more minimalist, removing the counter and timer. When showcasing the editing at around the 14 minute mark, there were some odd choices, the pixelation and an odd clip of a frame at 14:53, just looked a bit strange to me, especially with the gradient on the side
At 0:24 the invisibility thing didn’t work at all imo, it looked a bit clunky, given the screen on the plate shot didn’t match the colour and the shoulder is still visible. Also didn’t really see the point of that. Can also still see Jozef in the back after receiving the mac which looked a bit awkward but that’s not part of the editing
Overall it’s quite nice though, not too different but also refreshing!
Josef's shoulder can still be seen at 0:23.
Well he's obviously going to get better over time, and also he ABSOLUTELY chose comic sans specifically for the memes

Your first mistake was buying anything from dell
Weird, all mice, keyboards and headsets I've used with Mac works as they do on Windows
I’ve connected my Xbox controller via Bluetooth to my Mac and appleTv for some VERY light gaming with no issues at all. I have a wireless mouse made by MS and use it on my Mac with no issues. All the buttons work for me.

this are two different usecases. And I guess the mac is better for you than. Windoes laptops usually don't have a good over all package, like a mac
Honestly? No matter what I did or do, instability has never really been an issue for me after Windows 7. The few times that I had to work around something (less than fingers on one hand) are a very small price for all the freedom and compatibility one has with Windows. And from 8 it became a lot safer for unexperienced users as well. And I love games, so my ROG Strix was a no brainer ^^
macOs is definitely less stable or atleast apps that run on both systems tend to work better on Windows in my case
Model/specs of your strix? That may be a contender for me.
I've had one single bluescreen in 11 as well, and that was because I hadn't pushed down my new RAM when I drunkenly shoved them in -.-
I watched the "comparison" out of pure curiosity, but I got some questions (I used both MacOS and Windows and Linux long enough to have my own opinion):
- no keyboard comparison (Macbooks with an alternative layout are supplied to Europe, which requires getting used to),
- no comparison of work in corporate networks,
- no comparison of work in multi-user mode (work account and personal account),
- the claim of resistance to hacking is very dubious,
- and much, much more...
In fact, the whole choice lies in the task: you need a beautiful laptop for sitting in a cafe - a Macbook, you need a working tool - any good laptop on Windows/Linux
I gotta say, Josef did a pretty good job editing his first video! I liked how he tried to recreate the same style.

I can't this guy purposely used comic sans the whole video to piss us off 😭
@@azurezzzand that green and white :/
@@azurezzz HAHA!
he HAD to do small things to just piss us off
We have both in our house.
Hp is the worst when it comes to longevity
The title of the video is very misleading, it should rather be mac book vs Dell xps or you should specifically talk about the software side
the editing in this video is *_chef's kiss_*
