For no. 5 at 18:12, the reason why you can’t use Face ID or Touch ID when the device has been restarted is simply due to the Secure Enclave being locked. In broad strokes, the way Face ID/Touch ID work is when they scan your face or fingerprint, the scan gets converted into a model which is then compared to the one stored on the Secure Enclave and when the comparison is done, the Secure Enclave just outputs a Boolean authentication token (true or false) which will either unlock or keep the device locked respectively. So you can’t use any biometric authentication until the Secure Enclave has been unlocked by the passcode. The same mechanism is used to temporarily disable Face ID/Touch ID by pressing and holding the side and volume buttons. The whole point is to use something other than biometrics to unlock the Secure Enclave, hence the passcode.
@iiiiiiiii69iiiiiiiiii not really. Comes in handy when biometric sensors fail to operate. And making the user enter the passcode every now and then will make sure they remember it. Imagine not using the passcode for months, many users forget.
This video made me mad, meaning everything here is 100% true and relatable. Tech sometimes seems to find a way to ruin my day, like no I don't want to give a calculator the permission to use my camera 💀
This. And half the time the app is pretty much unusable. It's especially frustrating when it's for something like a smartwatch, which needs notifications to work reliably.
I don't know. I've almost destroyed two phones because Google maps thinks I know how far 100 feet is away at any given moment of time while moving down the road.
@@Windstorm7x7-wl8ko That's why you can't rely only on the app, you still need to know roughly where you are and the layout of the streets. Google Maps is pretty good at its job, but it can only be as accurate as the sensors in your phone.
This has got to be one of the most hilarious videos you've posted. The content is real, sympathizes with us, and is a well thought out argument, but the way it's presented has me in stitches as I profess agreement
My absolute worst one is how some mobile games (usually the voodoo ones I hate that company) have decided that showing an ad after every round isn't enough and they have to play audio ads while you are in the game. I want this made into a crime
12:35 not only laptops also phones, and more generally it is so annoying that they are adding all this stupid stuff that you don't need and they are removing the things that you do need(SD card, headphone jack and probably in the future even your charging port).
One more tech frustration: When you're searching for something online and hoping for a written article about it but its only available as a video, so you have to watch the whole video to find the answer you're looking for... and even then, the video may well be clickbait and not give you an answer at all.
or even worse: when you search for the solution to something, and you find someone asking the same question for the same scenario getting an answer which worked for them, but it doesnt work FOR YOU
1:42 Watching movies with my family sucks because of volume. One needs it quiet and others need it loud. Whether It's because you're used to it, can barely hear, or are sensitive to sounds, it's always a problem so we have to constantly raise and lower the volume based on if it's dialogue or loud sounds.
I've got one, when instagram tells you that you have unread messages only for you to refresh it a 1000 times and find nothing. So not really a tech thing but just broken apps.
For number 89, i think captchas like the 'select all with traffic lights' as well as the 'tick this checkbox to prove you are not a robot' check your mouse movements to see if they are linear and robotic or arbitraire like an average humans will be, because bots can tick a box and identify traffic lights but cant really match the random mouse movements of a human
IBM: In 2014 Google released reCAPTCHA v2, which replaced text- and image-based challenges with a simple checkbox stating "I am not a robot." As users check the box, reCAPTCHA v2 analyzes the user’s interactions with web pages, evaluating factors like typing speed, cookies, device history, and IP address to determine whether a user is likely to be human. The checkbox is also part of how the CAPTCHA works: no CAPTCHA reCAPTCHA tracks the user's mouse movements as they click the box. A human's movements tend to be more chaotic, whereas bots' movements are more precise. If no CAPTCHA reCAPTCHA suspects a user may be a bot, it presents them with an image-based CAPTCHA challenge.
Why is there literally something SO satisfying about someone posting a video about every single persons pet peeves in tech? Thank you and keep up the good work Arun!
Agreed! I actually told my partner "OMG you have to watch this video! I finally don't feel alone any more!" . Companies could learn a lot by taking this video and actually learning something from it.
Found out the hard way the SE first gen wouldn’t get watchOS 11 (it doesn’t say what model I have just the type of case) so I very much so related to some guy saying it was dumb it didn’t come to the first gen SE under a Twitter post asking which update everyone was excited about
I hate when you google some information about a specific topic and enter a news channel's website and they literally force you scroll to the bottom of the website because they filled the page with unnecessary information instead of giving it with just a single sentence just to make the news longer.
specially blasting you with " SUBSCRIBE to the newsletter , it's free ! " right after cookies. Another friction between you and the news you came to Seems like a perfect design idea to make the customer feel " happy " enough to not read the news and move on :0 . Honestly..
I just use chatgpgt for exactly this reason. I remember searching for how much power a cubic meter of natural gas produces when burned, simple question. The result... news articles explaining what natural gas is, how is distributed, then some ads for different appliances that run on gas, for the answer to be right at the buttom of the page. SEO is ruining google search.
18:12 there is a good reason for this. The reason it asks is because your passcode is needed to deencrypt the data on the phone, after the first time it saves that decryption key in the RAM which allows you to use Face ID, and then that is deleted on next restart
You really did sum up all the tech frustrations we face every single day. It's ironic how the gadgets meant to make our lives easier so often manage to do the opposite! Now I'm wondering how we ever got used to these quirks in the first place.
I get more and more shocked with every consistent Rick roll in the vids and how genius they keep being. Amazing video again Arun. Glad your channel is so big, you deserve it.
Thanks mate, this video helped me a lot in understanding a basic thing that the problems which makes me frustrate to such an extreme level is a universal problem and there is nothing to loose your temper in the process and spoil your day rather than focusing on other important things 👍🏼
2:10 if it just spills over, or is barely there, like that small black thin part, or even the wire, it still counts also, if it dissapears just after you click it, it wants you to keep clicking the certain object on those or other squares until it can't change any more and it works
This video isn't like most. You're talking about so many things that affect us on the daily and nobody seems to complain about. Thank you for bringing to light on these topics, because it is incredibly frustrating how there is such a lack of communication from a company to its customers, or just greed.
My number 1 is how everything seems to force or shove ads, purchases, subscriptions, notifications, or view something once then you see it everywhere and whatever else they want. When you can honestly care less with what they are pushing
2:08 For 89, it's nice to know that, usually, the boxes that just spill over you don't check won't count, the main point is just to track how the cursor goes along the screen and see if the behavior is bot-like (as in it checks if it glides in an extremely straight line or in a very exact manner, etc.), so it's not too bad. I'm not sure about the deciphering of the sometimes unintelligible sequences of letters though.
I despise the fact that video game companies, mainly Nintendo, release half-baked games for beloved series, and when they do poorly, they assume that it's the series' fault and discontinue it
14:39 instagram does this but worse, you’re reading a very interesting post (or watching) and you tap the top and it refreshes your feed, that just boils my blood
This is quite far away the best TH-cam video I’ve seen in the last 12 months. If only two or three of the brands mentioned, watch this video and make changes that’s a big win. So many inefficiencies based on marketing and sales pitches rather than actual user experience. Even Apple, the architects of user experience, are failing at times now. This should be compulsory viewing at every product development meeting in any tech organisation. Bravo
Oh, man. You are a voice in a world of consumer frustration that I hope that gets heard! Thank you for doing this. You got everything right. Thank you again. Offline games are a rarity now. I had an internship of sorts in a place where signals were sparse. So finding a game that actually works was so hard. This will backfire on companies eventually i feel. Gamers be it casual or hardcore will realise this madness and flip on them.
Well, Geometry Dash, terraria, and Minecraft are some examples for mobile games. Pc games that are offline factorio, the yakuza franchise, halo mcc, bg3, and stalker anomaly
I'm surprised you haven't mentioned this, but what I find most infuriating is the fact that you need to create an account on almost every site you visit. Why would they require my email for something free or a trial of something?
Because they are selling your info. If you want to know why any business, anywhere, at any point in time has done ANYTHING the answer is money. It's always money. It's so fucking gross.

About the youtube “back button”. On your phone/tablet, If you go down a rabbit hole and want to go back to one of the previous videos, just tap the screen and press the left button (to the left of the pause/play button in the middle) which is basically a “back button” to the previous video you were watching.
I'd say the annoying GDPR popups here in UK on websites. It's so frustrating as is but once you cleared it, you will then be hit by offer popups. Also, news article websites, even popular ones have got some many ads on them, not just picture ads, but auto-playing video ads, it really is soo annoying and incredibly hard to read. I usually resort to reader view on my iPhone otherwise, it really is unmanageable!
I have always thought this, but in reality, the sites are offering the news for free, they need to make money to pay their journalists and editors... Text and image ads pay close to nothing, so they have to opt for the video ads 😢 sad indeed. Honestly, not sure what is best in this scenario, either a page full of ads or pay for the content... For 86, this is why it is highly recommended to use a secure password manager as time goes on. They can generate and save passwords for you, and you most likely only need to remember one really secure password.
6:10 I have a phone that doesn't support eSIM and I was going to the US with my friends for 2 weeks, one of my friends also has a phone like this and bought a international pre-paid SIM card from the internet, but I was afraid that something was going to go wrong if I did, so I decided to buy a SIM card already in the US. It would be possible, but at the airport they only had SIM cards that were for staying for a month, which I didn't mind, but the price was just unbelievable. $90 for one, and a $30 monthly fee if you wanted to use it longer. Either way, if I had to use roaming data, the operators would charge $0.4 per 100kB, which is no better, so I decided to not use mobile data at all and use Wi-Fi all the time, if it was possible. In Poland, in every Żabka (a Polish grocery shop franchise) you have a multitude of SIM cards to choose at the checkout, each costs about a dollar and all you have to do get it working is to register it at the operator's site and choose a plan, how long you want it to work and how much data is the card charged with.
If you call someone from recent calls on an iPhone, the phone will revert back to recents as soon as the call finishes meaning if you try to end the call but the other person ends it right before you, you will instead call whoever is on your recents near the end call location

Almost most of the things you pointed out are so relatable.... Also one more thing that infuriates me is that the specifications of a same laptop is actually different on differrent websites and suck lack of info is available
Are you sure you're looking at the same laptop? Sometimes they make the same laptop with slightly different hardware specs for different price points. For example, my current laptop came in an i5 and i7 CPU variant, and (I think) a 16 series and 30 series GPU variant as well.
#5 "can't use FaceID or TouchID after you restart" This is actually a really GOOD thing. Your password is the key that unlocks the encryption on your device. After that happens, it then knows what to compare your face or fingerprint to to unlock as well. Including that mechanism unecrypted is a recipe for disaster.
We are at the point that where security and convenience are constantly at odds. I agree that it's more secure, but for consumers with less security concerns, there should be other options.
@@jmarquiso Yep I swear there are a ton more people getting locked out by their digital 'smart' lock from their own home than people saved by these from thieves. And way more people lost their years of work and memories because of bitlocker than those actually benefit from it.
@@Stoned01 later in the video he does say it about after restarting. OP is more right than they realize. In the U.S., the police can force you to use your fingerprint or face to unlock your phone. They cannot force you to give up your password. They need a warrant for that. There are other times, sadly, someone may have no issue overpowering you and forcing you to put your finger on the unlock, but wouldn’t go as far as doing whatever it would take to force you to say your password. (Abusive relationships, abusive parents, and even people that would intimidate someone, like a school principal).
A very intesesting list. Another one to add is Facebook and other apps forcing you to use their built in web browser. I much prefer my own. Or the constant "we use cookies" every time you visit a website. The option to accept all is always easy, yet to opt out you have to go into a sub menu and opt out of each type of cookie manually.
Fortunately there's an extension for that, called "I still don't care about cookies". It's a fork, the original extension was bought by Avast, and so might not be privacy-friendly.
Your videos are incredible my man. I noticed one here that I had to explain to my wife - the walking and knowing if you're going the right direction on gps. As a veteran gamer, it's like a mini map in game. Pay attention to the cone around your point, it's the line of sight. Turn the cone/phone o< facing the direction you're supposed to be going and that's the way you should be walking. Cheers.
Your follow-up should be how to fix all of these. It could be a whole series. Just do 10 of these in each video. Kinda like in-app purchases. You have to keep coming back for more! 😂
This is one of my favorite videos of yours. One thing I might toss out to add to the list is autofill from pw managers. There's typically no simple way to just say, "don't suggest an autofill if it's not a password".
8:48 Those people are so annoying! I work in a warehouse and have coworkers who do this at work. What makes it worse in there is that it echos through the whole building.
#4 is actually a security feature. The phone's lock code/password is used to generate the encryption key which the device needs to read your files. This is why when you hit the button(s) to turn your phone off it will sometimes disable biometrics because on most devices it will wipe the encryption key as if the device booted up just now.
As someone who studied cyber security, companies making you create complex and unique passwords and potentially also using MFA is a really good thing. Though I have to admit I find it annoying myself sometimes. In regards to using your face to login to TH-cam, that would be very dangerous and impractical at this point in time as tricking face authentication is pretty easy especially in a TH-camr's case where there face is often public. The exception to this is the face ID on Apple phones which actually scans a 3d model of someone's face which is an order of magnitude more secure, but as that technology is pretty much exclusive to iPhones I think companies like TH-cam would be hesitant to create a feature that is pretty much Apple exclusive, apart from the ton of work needed in collaboration between Apple and Google. It sucks though as I would love for these sorts of features to exist but it seems we may have to wait a bit longer before they become a reality.😢
Yeah seriously, data concerns are already a thing, but for the love of Christ, I don't want a tech monopoly having access to 3d models of everybody's faces. That totally couldn't go wrong.@@saurabhmaurya005

𝙰𝚖 𝚑𝚎𝚛𝚎..
I'm surprised Arun doesn't know that.
@iiiiiiiii69iiiiiiiiii not really. Comes in handy when biometric sensors fail to operate. And making the user enter the passcode every now and then will make sure they remember it. Imagine not using the passcode for months, many users forget.

One more tech frustration: When you're searching for something online and hoping for a written article about it but its only available as a video, so you have to watch the whole video to find the answer you're looking for... and even then, the video may well be clickbait and not give you an answer at all.
Most videos dont have subtitles. Tada 🎉
or even worse: when you search for the solution to something, and you find someone asking the same question for the same scenario getting an answer which worked for them, but it doesnt work FOR YOU
at least the problem is slightly mitigated with transcripts in youtube
1:42 Watching movies with my family sucks because of volume. One needs it quiet and others need it loud. Whether It's because you're used to it, can barely hear, or are sensitive to sounds, it's always a problem so we have to constantly raise and lower the volume based on if it's dialogue or loud sounds.

For number 89, i think captchas like the 'select all with traffic lights' as well as the 'tick this checkbox to prove you are not a robot' check your mouse movements to see if they are linear and robotic or arbitraire like an average humans will be, because bots can tick a box and identify traffic lights but cant really match the random mouse movements of a human
that is very interesting indeed - did not know that
What does it do on phones
I've heard that too and that obviously makes a lot of sense
What about phones
Why is there literally something SO satisfying about someone posting a video about every single persons pet peeves in tech?

#5 "can't use FaceID or TouchID after you restart"
This is actually a really GOOD thing.
Bro he didn’t said after restart
He said that sometimes you can’t use face id beacuse your phone doesn’t scan your face

@@Stoned01 later in the video he does say it about after restarting. OP is more right than they realize. In the U.S., the police can force you to use your fingerprint or face to unlock your phone.
Came here to say the same thing! Spot on!
And no-one wants their facial data to be stored on a cloud.

some of these issues demand separate video. very well done! finally someone talks about issues that infuriate me for more than a decade. and they are still not solved!
This is the most relatable video ever. Laughed the whole way through it. You’re the best at this man.

When it comes to the printer issue, I tend to purchase a new printer each time the ink runs out. This is because the cost of the printer is actually lower than that of the ink cartridges, and it comes with ink included in the box.
Wait so printer + ink is lower than ink. That’s such a scam
@@tay_rizulthat's been the case for the last 20 years I'd say (I'm old)... I find this extremely problematic from a sustainability point of view! But it's absolutely true. Getting a new printer with ink is cheaper than just getting the ink!
@@MariaCarabin Agreed
just find the cheapest printer that comes with ink, and a reliable disposal site...
you have a tower of printer I'm assuming.
The printer ink cartridge issue has kept my printer unused for like 2 years now. I still don't get why i need to get the coloured inks if my black ink is full and i need black and white copies 😔😂
let me guess, HP printer?
@@gioprox5207 😂😂 Canon.
How I got around this, Is I buy a new printer each time the cartridge runs out.
I have a HP Printer and I’m concerned that my printer is going to to brick itself as I can’t afford the Official HP Cartridges.
@@teboho_26It's really easy to outsmart Canon printers. Just search for it. I only use b/w in a Canon printer for years now and I'm either refilling Canon cartridges or buy refilled ones.
Bro just spilled all the stuff he sometimes glosses over in reviews. Respect.
