ive watched this specific episode from start to finish 6 times ( never painted a mini in my life )but this vid broke me i got 40 marines waiting to aspire and ascend to this beautiful red ( had a hard time getting all the color) i know this is not the esiest method used for painting them but i got a feeling even if i fall short they will be marvels and ty u should do more this is astonishing
Hey x31omega, i think that you can make a space marine just as interesting as you want. The standard Blood Angels color scheme is a bit mundane. Man, there is something so satisfying about wathching you move around the brush. A point so sharp and precise, and your way of moving the paint around. I hope for that level of control one day. I still haven't painted a single space marine in my life, and I think it's time to change that. I need to try and get one, and paint it to a high standard.

It blows me away how much depth you get with such a small number of paint choices. Really enjoy highlighting reds and blacks with flesh tones, can't wait to try it out myself.
The main thing I enjoy about your painting is its more realistic looking than GWs cartoony bright colors. Between you, Vince, Marco, Zack, Cult of Paint and a few others my skills have drastically improved over the last couple of years.

This video made me come back to the hobby and start a space marine army. I already had a small force of blood angels in 1998 but never got to play them and sold them pretty soon after painting a few of them. It bugged me until now. I am going build a modern version of my 90s force. I am not sure if take this approach or the one from your grim dark video. I‘ll try both and see which process is more enjoyable. Thank you so much for all the free content. I‘ll look into you patreon stuff pretty soon.

I have a blood angels chapter and I’m currently getting through it. This guy is so satisfying to watch my blood angels are no way near this level I just hope to get as half as good. This video just makes me wanna go back and repaint all my blood angels 🩸🩸
The smoothness of the paint on the shoulders is just magic. If I use a white colour or bone on a marine's shoulders it just goes NOPE. Feels like I either use too much water and it washes everywhere, or not enough and it goes blotchy/streaked. Incredible work.
Here's a tip also, try an off white (celestra grey for a blue white, or wraithbone for well, bone) or even an ink (with matt medium). You could even mix it in with your lahmium medium, or a dedicated matt medium. Or give up on citadel colours entirely and use reaper/vallejo or P3 and such :P Hope that helps!

Very cool video! I don’t even care about space marines, but I still learned lots of tricks/techniques that I can apply to other models. Good length of video as well, I feel like 20-30 minutes is the sweet spot. Thanks!
I just finished painting that exact mini as a Blood Angel. I'll try to follow this guide for another mini, hopefully I get good enough once the troops are finished that the characters in Indomitus are done justice.
Don't forget the 'Eavier than Metal series is more like a masterclass - definitely not a beginner tutorial. Doesn't mean you cant take away something from it even as a beginner, but you should not beat yourself up if your first blood angels do not look like this right of the bat. go easy on yourself!

Bloody hell, I’m just getting back into the hobby and I’m wanting to go with a a Blood Ravens chapter and this is almost exactly how I wanted to paint them. Even down to the hazard stripes on the chainsword. This is such a beautiful paint job. Only difference being I also want to implement bronze trimming for squad captains and gold for the elites and commanders. Damn, I’ve got a lot to learn.
Love your videos (and the awesome shirt). Completely underrated especially with how incredibly talented you are. I definitely prefer a black chest eagle and black trim. I think that was the old school theme for them from (I forget the earlier editions) so you do have some justification for those choices.

To make my plinths I use wooden blocks, like the ones made for children to play with. Look very similar to your solution. Might need to sand them though.
Insane paint-job! The flesh-tone + yellow highlight is really nice and looks a good deal better than the usual orange I would highlight with - I'm looking forward to trying it out on my next Blood Angel!
Amazing video mate, This is exactly the result I've envisioned and tried to describe on our feedback session, not going full metallic red but trying to incorporate some of the elements and the "pop" on a more of a manageable task for an army! Was never interested in the blood angels paint scheme but you just turned a boring 1 color scheme into a wonderful piece of eye candy.

As some one who paints carmine blades please to God change your water when painted white after red or you will get a lovely pink colour
