This may be the single best mini painting video I've seen. You have done a fantastic job and deserve 100x the subs. I can't believe you haven't blown up yet!
I have watched so many mini painting videos and tried to glaze on countless minis, and not a single person has described how to glaze/ how it works better than you with your demonstration on the graph, followed by the video of you doing it practically. That little powerpoint type of description that lasted 2 minutes made me understand glazing better than hours of footage from multiple time golden demon winners. Truely well done, and I hope you see much success.
It's criminal how few views this has. It's excellent and some of the most detailed descriptions of how to paint this style I have ever seen. I really love the way you cut between diagrams of what you are doing and thw actual painting of the figure. You've earned yourself a sub!
Ok, i have to say, I'm glad I found your channel. You should be a process developer for your career. Its a talent to be able to break things down in a clear concise way that anyone can follow. With enough practice these steps are all you need to paint covinving NMM. Thank you.
Your amazing i love that you show all the brushstrokes especially during the blending part thats the most important part and its always skipped or glossed over. This gives me tue confidence that NMM attempt 20 something will be successful
@@merlinsmagicworkshop9192 I personally like to use scrofoulous brown from Vallejo Game Colors as a mid-tone, building yellow slowly over it. But coverage is certantly not great. I'm looking forward to see how you do it
@@filipp0tonellihave you tried using the brown as an underpaint ONLY in the shadows / shaded areas? And letting the black & white zenithal highlight dictate where the main yellow armour is?
@@EmilioMiguel I sadly don't have an airbrush and rattle cans leave dots as I am in an hot environment. I tried to do yellow from white, building shadows gradually, but I found 2 problems: when correcting mistakes on orange/brown with yellow you have still issues with coverage; then, doing the inserts in the armor on a white base is a pain. So i do yellow from black, which is slow but in the end satisfactory.
Excellent tutorial!!! Just found your channel, Jeremy, and I must say that your tutorial has made start my first NMM... I've been escaping from that... But since you explained it so well, I'm gonna start with that... New subscriber, Jeremy! Thank you for this knowledge! Greetings all the way from Lima, Perú!!!
Unfortunately, I can't see it in the video and I would like to find out because I'm not sure, during glazing, after applying color 1, you change color to ur second and then go back to color 1 and keep changing until you get what you want? Whats your „fat” glaze consistency?
I've been having real difficulty trying to produce a rich volumetric purple. Do you think its because the purple paints share a similar property to red in their translucency and also brightening to violet/pink when you add white? What paints would you recommend to replicate this idea but in a warm velvet/royal purple? Amazing tutorials by the way, not a single thing missed out!
Thank you for making these videos. I've finally decided to start practicing NMM and I'm using this method. Would it be possible for you to do a NMM gold that isn't "old" and greenish?
Hi and thanks ! Next one will be about yellow NMM, very close to gold. In a later series I might also do a full NMM gold armor, but not in a simplified way this time
Such great videos mate, thinking of using the red nmm for some of my Soulblight characters, how would you recommend doing the same style but in a slightly darker “blood” red?
Hi ! I started a UM army a few years back, i have something like 40 modems painted sp far, but I dont have much time for painting and I also did not focus on that project specifically. I think it's possible but you should not be in a hurry 😁. Now I'm starting a full NMM Custodians army, less models to deal with ... cheers !
@@merlinsmagicworkshop9192 thanks for your reply! Your tutorial on nonmetallic metal was the best I’ve ever seen! It’s extremely detailed and really shows the whole process.
@tylerburleson3387 if you have the time, anything is viable for an army. That said, I wouldn't ever do an army in nmm... that's just borderline insanity if you want it to look good. You are looking at 6+ hrs per mini... I would just paint this for display pieces or characters
Just found this and gotta say, amazing tutorial and want to try, but heavy red isn’t to be found anywhere since it’s out of stock, any ideas of a replacement?
Hi ! Thanks a lot ! I dont know precisemy which color could be used as exact replacment but in reality any dark red (with a tint of blue/purple) would work fine , cheers !
This has been the single most helpful tutorial Ive seen on nmm. Thank you
Thank you very much

BEST tutorial I have seen so far.
i love the space marine diagram showing the concepts before execution. we see the theory of a plan as well as the plan in action. please don't change!

Best NMM video so far, and the reason why is the illustration of how this works conceptually

Thank you so much for these videos I now finally understand how to glaze now just to practice
Thanks to you !
Will definitely be watching all your videos while I'm painting
Really clean! Though, as an Imperial Fist afficionado, I would like to see yellow next...🎉

Think i can substitute Heavy red for Red Oxide? Maybe red Oxide mixed with a small amount of blue or magenta?
Hi ! Probably Yes, i never used Red Oxide but I dont see why it wouldnt work
just to say great video and really appreciate doing in English and French
Thanks a lot !
Such great videos mate, thinking of using the red nmm for some of my Soulblight characters, how would you recommend doing the same style but in a slightly darker “blood” red?
Hi and thanks for your comment. If you want darker red you can probably do a larger glaze of Evil red, this color is a very nice reddish violet
@@merlinsmagicworkshop9192 so follow the exact same steps but do a darker overall glaze at the end?
How realistic is this approach for painting an entire army? Do the same principles carry over to painting vehicles as well?
