    --------
In the latest clip, Omar Gooding detailed how he prepared to play the Sweetpea role in "Baby Boy." While he felt he was prepared for the role, he remembered getting coached by Big Cat to nail the character's look and mannerisms. Omar recalled hanging around Big Cat's neighborhood for research purposes and filming one of the character's most notable scenes with the purpose of convincing the film studio to move forward with production.

One thing that still bothers me about Baby Boy was how Jody's mom never apologized for accusing him of growing weed in her garden when Melvin reluctantly admitted to her that it was his weed and she let it slide. Her not owning up to her false accusation fueled the fight between Jody & Melvin because of her own pride.

I think the genius that is John Singleton did that for a reason. Even though Jody was a man baby he was essentially just a product of his upbringing because of the contradictions, hypocrisy and immaturity he witnessed from his own mother. Remember she was a teen mother who never really fully grew up on a mental level either so she just carried that mindset over to him in addition to Jody also not having a father to teach him otherwise

As a former Acting teacher at National Black Theater in Harlem , just to confirm : Actors are story tellers! The tradition of both oral and physical “!acting out” of life’s experiences is what an actors true calling entails . Omar is indeed a Griot par excellence in the African story teller tradition. Story telling is innately engrained in many black peoples DNA.

Honestly I am surprised that 1. Never knew this was Cuba Gooding brother. 2. This dude is an amazing actor because watching him in this interview versus growing up watching him as sweet pea shows this dude really had me believe he was a real one that they just used as a side character. He acted just as some of my friends were quiet, reserved but ready for war when it was needed.

I hate when people ask u to do something when ur in ur regular life. It's like seeing MJ at Walmart with his family talking about "Hit that moonwalk"...smh I always hate when people do that. It makes me feel like "Dance Monkey" That type shyt get ur moved around quick. Most people of a certain status want 2 be treated like normal human beings
