Omar Gooding on 'Baby Boy', Tyrese, Cuba Gooding Jr, Gun Arrest, Gang Fight (Full Interview)

- Omar Gooding came through for his first-ever VladTV interview, where he started off speaking about growing up in L.A. with his mother and father, who was a member of the 1970s R&B group “The Main Ingredient.” Omar then went on to speak about becoming a successful child actor, starring in “Hangin’ with Mr. Cooper,” “Smart Guy,” and later going on to be one of the hosts of Nickelodeon’s “Wild & Crazy Kids.” Omar then detailed auditioning for the 1990 Bill Cosby film “Ghost Dad,” which led to the actor speaking at length about Cosby and his recent legal issues. Elsewhere in the interview, Omar addressed his 1995 arrest and managing to save his career and continuing to work on “Hangin’ with Mr. Cooper.” He also spoke about appearing in “Baby Boy,” his brother, Cuba, winning an Oscar for “Jerry McGuire,” and Omar admits that he didn’t think Cuba would win at first. When he played P on Baby Boy, it really showed his range as an actor going from comedy to drama. Dude is a legend

That scene where he felt stuck living with his girlfriend and his girlfriends mom, and he tells Jodi that he doesn't feel like a real man, because he has to sneak in and out to pretend like he's working or looking for a job it was intense. Like you felt that I don't care if you're from the ghetto or you lost your job that feeling of not feeling like a man is universal.

Craziness to me seeing Omar ‘cause I grew up seeing him on Wild & Crazy Kids. It was a pure shock to me that was him in Baby Boy after not seeing him for 11 years. Then to add more surprise finding out he’s Cuba’s brother 😯

Foreal, after this interview I realized he’s super underrated. I’ve watched him when I was growing up n remember him playing the funny guy n not really taking him seriously, but seeing how he gets himself into character and really having to prove himself, not for himself but for others to see wat he really was all about n how much of a talented actor he was. Wat he had inside him not only as an actor but as a person. That really resonated. U know ur a cool dude n not a killer n bc of that ppl take him as being soft. Omar was everything good in the interview. Vlad kept trying to trip Omar up, but Omar was too smart and quick for vlad slick no good self.
I been rocking with Omar since Mr Cooper...he has a lot of underground movies too that a pretty good. He just don't get the same roles as his brother. But I think he's a much better n more versatile actor

I loved that movie “Ghost Dad” when I was a kid.
Went and saw BABY BOY in a theater in Texas with my then-girlfriend when she was pregnant with our son. We were in the military having our own baby boy.

This was a great interview. I rarely watch vlad, but I am re-watching Smart Guy as an adult and decided to do a search for Omar and found this gem! Omar says a lot without saying a lot. I never put it together he was related to Cuba, but I think this is a great thing as an actor! He made his own way, and we know them as individual talents. That speaks volumes. I didn't hear it in the interview, but I hope Cuba helped the family when he got big. I'm picking up on some dissonance when he said Boys in the hood was big and they watched Cuba's finances/houses change yet mom was still working two jobs, but could just be me trying to be nosey and having more questions lol anywho, this was great!
