I have a question . I have an 05 corolla With a grinding noise coming from the belt side of my engine but my car has a sputtering noise coming from the muffler and the car shakes when in gear
6 mos ago I bought new battery and installed it on my high mileage 99 Corolla (after testing battery (bad)/alternator (good) at an auto parts store). I was planning on changing the drive belt (which is worn). But, now suddenly i have noticed there is gray white corrosion on the negative battery terminal on this new battery. I have read "Corrosion on the negative terminal can mean there is an undercharging situation". And, I just started hearing this sort of scraping noise after just starting the engine in the morning, which seems to be coming from a pulley- possibly the one attached to the alternator. It sounds similar to the sound your Corolla is making, but not as loud. I have used a rubber hose and held it to the alternator and could not hear any internal bad noises/sounds. Plus, the AC is not cooling as well as it did last year. Could that be a result of a bad alternator pulley? I am not a mechanic, but I have been attempting to do some of my own work in order to keep from going broke. The pulley itself is only about 30 usd. Would i need special tools?
On your scenario mate I highly recommend to replace the alternator because the year of your car 😬 it’s not worth to replace the pulley on me if the inside one is broken 😬 i have a simple check video for alternator you can check that out 😉 i will send a link cheers 😉 th-cam.com/video/pn4LKUnFL1Y/w-d-xo.html
No worries, yeah my car is Corolla 2014 ZR I found these days not many mechanics are willing to invest the time to investigate on the issue, mainly only doing fluid and other consumable/filters replacements
Try to remove the belt mate and put it in gear and message me if still the noise is there 😉 if it’s gone it’s mean it’s coming on the one drive belts driven by 😉
@OLIVER THE MECHANIC it's like a small electric fan motor sound. I noticed it yesterday night when I went in my garage. The sound was not coming from outside the garage. It was not coming from inside the vehicle or the trunk. I heard it the the rear tire well areas on both sides of the vehicle. I had never heard that sound before and it freaked me out. I started the vehicle and idled it for a couple of minutes then turned the vehicle off. The sound was gone. I've been going to my garage periodically since then to hear if the sound has returned but so far the sound has not returned. I may have to inspect the rear under side of the vehicle just to easy my mind. I thought you might know what might be making that sound.
Often the pulley is often under to much tension so the replacement of that alternator may have been very short lived . The structure of the entire pulley system is as a whole instead in pieces . The other replacement he made was the water pump ,the entire system has taken tension .it’s only based on the design of said engine to determine where more pressure and tug is being placed .once is has been determined one more replacement is often needed but not necessary. That may be the compressor. Time will tell.
You’re right mate 😉 on the tension thing 😉 but i installed that alternator nearly 3 years already and i put right tension 5 to 7 mm😉 that’s my first time i warranty the alternator I think its the alternator it self is broken i can hear a grinding noise inside 😉 and the water pump is still genuine i think thats already the lifespan of the water pump 😉 but again you’re right regarding tension 😉 thanks for your feedback God Blessed 😇
Good vid! I was worried of replacing the alternator because of the belt, watching eased my anxiety!
Thanks mate really happy the i help you on a small way ☺️ God Bless

Thanks also mate 😉 God Bless
Is it normal for it to sound like that without the belt? I have 210k miles on my corolla 2013
I think it’s normal mate
Where did you get your volt meter from, cheers.

Are you in Sydney? What is your business address I have similar noise only when car is warmed up and when in drive mode
I’m not on sydney mate 😬 sorry 😉

I agree mate where not lucky that we don’t have the same place 😅 by the way I’m in NT 😉
Hey, mine is the same noise but only when i put it in gear do you know what is wrong with it?
Try to remove the belt mate and put it in gear and message me if still the noise is there 😉 if it’s gone it’s mean it’s coming on the one drive belts driven by 😉
Did you figure out what the issue was?
Same here on a corolla 2017 did you figure the noise out
I have a Toyota Corolla 2011 and it has 2 codes P1604 P1605.
Maté that’s code need to check by mechanic there is lot a possibility 😬 MAF , FUEL PUMP, CRANKSHAFT SENSOR etc… or ECM the worst 😬
Not same quality parts….I use only Toyota OEM parts from dealer
I agree but sometimes customers can’t afford the toyota genuine parts 😉
my 2006 corolla is suffering from tensioneritus
Mate sorry I don’t know what you mean 😬
@@oliverthemechanic8532 Timing chain tensioner issue
That’s bad mate 😬
I have another noise for you. An electric motor noise coming from the rear of a 2020 Toyota Corolla when the car is parked and turned off.
What do you mean mate? Do you want me to Diagnose? It’s quite hard to Diagnose if I cannot heard the noise 😬
