Main EVAP issue is not tightening down the gas cap. Thanks for the info 2006 Toyota Corolla 189,000 miles. Belt tensioner and tensioner bolts need to be check after 130,000 miles. The cost in repairing a Corolla to keep on rolling is far more cheaper than buying a new vehicle.

I do normal maintiance such as regular oil and transmittion and Power Stearling fulid flood/change including master cylinder fulid. I have owned over than 3 Corolla since 2007 and all of them were brought used with low mileage (23-33K miles) and never had issue except valve cover gasget leaking. Toyota made much better quality car and Corolla is used for police and Taxi service in Japan including Camary that used for Japan Self Defense Maritime Security Forces.
@@jamescostello7584 I use full synthetic oil, OEM filter every 5000 miles w/out fail. It's a manual trans so I replace that oil every 50K. I do all of the work on it myself so when I change the oil I get every drop out, take my time. It's 2 years later and sitting at 280,000 miles. I've had to replace the driver's door actuator and valve cover gasket. I decided to go ahead and replace the water pump and thermostat recently just to be safe even though they were still working fine. At almost 300k it doesn't hurt to get out in front of some of those things if you can afford to. Also replaced the fuel cap because I was getting the P0456 code ($6 fix). Shocks never been replaced and still aren't leaking. Toyota quality is pretty impressive.
I would say the most common problem is the serpentine belt tensioner. Easy fix, usually at about 150k. My 2006 is still running strong at 415000 miles.
I own an 06 Corolla. The clock looks like I need to re-flow the solder. Works sometimes, is dim at others. It still blows cold AC in Las Vegas after 15 years. Also, Its a stick shift and I need to rev-match when down-shifting into 3rd gear.Works fine when shifting up. Weird issue that I have just learned to live with.
I had a 2005 - never had any problems other than changing the battery and brake pads. I sold it cause I had 2 other vehicles. These Corollas are bullet proof if you maintain them. ALWAYS CHANGE YOUR OIL EVERY 5000 MILES WITH SYNTHETIC OIL + SPECIAL OIL FILTER and it will run forever.

I had a belt tensioner replacement (bolt breaking). 2006 Corolla at 130,000 miles, currently at 189,000. I did have engine issues but the Engine Control Computer warranty replacement solved that issue a few years down the road though. No issues on timing belt, or master cylinder. Starter sounds maybe so, so or its me holding down the key to long especially on cold mourning's. Gas cap issues, when in a hurry twice didn't tighten the cap down properly. One problem right headlight wiring short, burned around my socket and bulb plus wearing out the battery. Partial wiring change with socket. (I'm really happy that I bought a car with a timing chain.)
I pried the lower plastic up and out both front n back at the lower door jabs and liberally spayed oil in it ... NO RUST ! Any thing melted vaseline, hell... break or tranny fluid . Hey Joaquin, I have a 2005 Toyota corolla and the clutch is not serving me well. I even got a new one fitted in but it still doesn't engage like a proper clutch. Have you encountered similar issues.
for me, 9th generation was the last generation that can be considered bullet proof, when the cvt transmission came, and all new sensors, the new generations of corolla continued to be a great car, but not like a tank, like the 9th generation, it became too much delicate, and the 11th generation with the new seats, it became way more unconforttable, in short distance, the seats are good, but for long trips, uuuf literally, , it became a pain in the ass.
The 9th generation Corolla is basically an oil burning no power noise making in the motor piece of s*** the best one is the 08 out of all of them the 09 Corolla is a piece of s*** the 14 is a p and a 21 stick shift is a piece of s*** toe
I have a 05 corolla, bought used from a doctor 6 years ago and still rocking like new, it's being repair a few times but nothing crazy, the starter was fix one time (not replace it), the radiator fan and one engine mount, nothing else
I’ve had an 07 ce for a few months now. Originally was going to get rid of it and get something newer but then I realized...why? It was only supposed to be a winter beater but so far has exceeded expectations. 206k, A/T. The 1zz is a very reliable engine. Recently I replaced most of the gaskets and even that made a world of difference. Couple other Corolla things to note: interior door handles and rear speakers. Handles get brittle after years of use, but that’s minor. If you don’t have tinted windows The rear speakers rot from heat and UV exposure and most 9th gens I see have aftermarket ones installed by now, being 14+ year old cars. Mine still has stock and they buzz and are torn. If that’s the worst of it though, I’ll never own another car! Everything else works as day 1. Toyota pwns
The hub caps constantly fall off these cars. Also, the steering wheels decompose. The small compartment doors on the dash break very easily, even if you’re careful with them.
I have an 03 Corolla with 298 thousand miles. Starts and runs like a dream. Nothing wrong. I do all the work and maintenance myself. It doesn't take much. Very reliable vehicle. But now they are very expensive and hard to find a good deal. Cus people have taken notice how good they are.
I have been working on cars for 10 years, went to Toyota TTen school, worked for Toyota/Lexus for half of those years, and I have never seen a Master Cylinder go bad on one of these. A much more prominent problem on these would be the intake plenum gasket/MAP sensors causing a rough idle and lean code first thing on a cold morning.
I have a 2006 corolla, and I drove for a year and half with the code P0171. I replaced the Mass air sensor, but it didn't work. I assume that is due to manifold gasket. Is that ok still driving it without fixing it if I want run another 100k miles?
In December I had to replace my 1990 Volvo 240 wagon with 400,000 miles on the clock. My late mother's last car. Her next door neighbour had to stop driving, so i bought her car. Yoda is a 2004 with 100,000 miles on the clock. Had to change the catalytic converter because it started leaking. I also had to di front wheel bearings. That was a job and a half. Certainly not a do it yourself. Luckily I have a friend with a full machine shop. I put a set of Nokian Haakappilliitta R5 winter tires on. I do not like the front wheel drive in the snow at all, and im not crazy about it in the rain, either. I used to bigger, heavier, rear wheel drive, and that is my preference. Still, Yoda is doing the job. I do enjoy it over all. A little more room would be nice, though.
350K miles on my 04 Corolla and never had an issue with the master cylinder. Starter makes the whine, but that's been happening for years and still starts every time with no other issues. Rock solid cars that I highly recommend to anyone who wants a super rel8able vehicle.
I owned a Corolla S 03, my very first car. I bought with 175k miles when I was in high school, 5 years later I sold it with 245k miles. Never let me down, only issues I had was the radiator, water pump and thermostat but other than that never had big issues. I drove that beater from Georgia all the way to Maryland, drove back. I regret selling it now that gas prices are mess up.

This video helped me to identify several symptoms my 2005 Corolla has, now with more mileage than the one he shows in this video, more than 256, 350 miles; Replacing the Vapor Canister, with the original Toyota part, several rubber hoses from the EVAP System, which were showing small cracks, the VVTI Solenoid Valve which was leaking, and related parts like the intake manifold gasket, which is made of plastic, apparently the first years Toyota Corollas started to use a plastic intake manifold, and now the car accelerates smoothly, but I suspect there is another vaccum leak this time from the exhaust manifold, which some people over the Internet show a creative way to diagnose, by connecting a vaccum cleaner hose to the muffler, even with tape to help with this connection, and start the vaccum with the engine off, then spraying water to the exhaust manifold parts like you do to find a leak on a tire due to a nail or something similar. Many decided to keep using even daily their Toyotas as far as they can, instead of paying the unfair and ridiculous mark ups. Is a challenge because for daily use, even a Toyota has to be repaired properly, you can't go cheap.
07 S here & I would say after you said the problems with the master cylinder that literally sounds like my car. I also have to change the struts/shocks. One more problem I have is the overdrive, it doesn’t switch smoothly.

Just replaced the starter on my '08 Toyota Corolla earlier today. I noticed that I was having trouble starting my car and initially thought it was the battery since the weather was getting hotter. I had trouble starting my car and got stuck at my cousin's house. I borrowed my aunt's truck and used my tools. The battery tested fine and I pulled off the starter. I have a 03, 05 and an 06, corolla and it's never given me any problems. I only had to change ignition coils once. It's the best car ever made.
Same here only one time the coil but now the clock radio lights up just the clock but car has not given problems.

My 03 manual transmission sitting at 280k miles. Still runs like a champ. 250k miles in the original clutch is the only major repair I’ve had.
Mine is a 2004, and the odometer maxed out at 299,990. That was 8 years ago. Never had a problem with it and it still runs great.
Wow, that’s awesome, my 2004 has 190k, gives me hope that she’ll be around for awhile longer

that's a common problem but usually at 299,999. Toyota know's about it but won't recall.
I had the same problem with my '03 Corolla. Toyota Canada was willing to give the part but labour cost was about $700.
I have a 2007 Corolla that I bought in 2014. When I bought it, the mileage was 123k. 7 years later, I’m currently at 288k. In the past, I’ve had to swap out the starter, the alternator, and the motor blower behind the glove compartment. Rarely gave me issues until last year. I have a cracked manifold exhaust. Still runs, just loud.
500 000 miles in them is cake .. jus change ut fluid regular.. only repair are now n then wit suspension parts
I have a loud exhaust leak. Been meaning to check to see if the manifold is cracked or if the gasket let go. I’m hoping gasket but you know we hardly get lucky when stuff goes out.
Still got her??
@@npweeazel unfortunately no. I sold it for $1000 to the local pick-a-part. Shortly after the 288k miles, more issues came. The wheel bearing was wearing out, the drive shaft gave out, still wasn’t passing the smog, and the cracked manifold was still there. The odometer read 299,200 when I sold it
I've got one with 223k . Its started making a buzzy sound intermittently when I accelerate , seems worse when it's hot. Anyone have ideas? I feel like I can smell the exhaust more than usual upon starting it too.
Very true, that's why I keep my 09
I have an 04 Corolla that's about to roll into 300,000 miles! The only thing that's been done is regular maintenance and an alternator replacement. I love my Toyota 😍
I also have a 2004 with close to 300,000 miles. It’s been great car but I have had a few problems. Nevertheless it runs great!

Anthony's Corollas like you got people trying to sell the old garbage I would not buy one unless it has plenty of power clean what inside inside the engine clean and under 200,000 miles and I prefer the 08 and the other one I ever seen his garbage only assholes that used to buy an unreliable s*** fix a great cause this s*** if everybody maintained them every 3,000 Mi oil change they'll all be great but nobody does that that's why they're f****** garbage and the other problem is people ask too much money for them and they drive and smelling sound like s***
I have a 2K Rolla with the same VVT-i 1ZZ-FE motor. 268xxx miles and running strong. No oil burning issue that these are known for with higher mileage.
Even the stock 4 speed auto shifts as it should.
Biggest issue you'll have with a 7th-9th Gen Corolla is the damn thing falling and rusting apart but they run forever with little cost.

I have 2008 Corolla that I brought used in 2010 that has 23K and currently has 150K. I brought OEM altenator and Exhaust system in 2009 for $85.00, but never have a chance to use these two items yet.

I was surprised there was not mention of exhuast manifold cracking and leaking exhaust. This seems to a very common problem with this generation.

another common problem i found put is Rust it happens near the end of the rocker panel next to the rear wheel.

for me, 9th generation was the last generation that can be considered bullet proof, when the cvt transmission came, and all new sensors, the new generations of corolla continued to be a great car, but not like a tank, like the 9th generation, it became too much delicate, and the 11th generation with the new seats, it became way more unconforttable, in short distance, the seats are good, but for long trips, uuuf literally, , it became a pain in the ass.
what'd you think about the new manuals
I wonder if those are bullet proof
i tho do agree the 9th gen is something else
The 9th generation Corolla is basically an oil burning no power noise making in the motor piece of s*** the best one is the 08 out of all of them the 09 Corolla is a piece of s*** the 14 is a p and a 21 stick shift is a piece of s*** toe

I use metal polish on my headlights, works great and makes it nice and clear for a year or two. No big deal!
Toyota pwns
2005 Here... 430-440k miles (odometer maxed out at 300k many years ago)... Drives great. Only problem is a few EVAP codes.
Is that it?? No starter problems?
I own this car. Nothing will ever go wrong. Good vibes.
The hub caps constantly fall off these cars. Also, the steering wheels decompose. The small compartment doors on the dash break very easily, even if you’re careful with them.
I love your top 5 problems. I have found if I check common problems, I can easily get to root of mine.

Shit that's still young for a Corolla. I got 240,000 on mine still in great shape

Diff gen Corolla- 1998 Corolla, swapped out a bad master cyl but not til 207k miles with a Aisin brand master cyl. Now at 284k miles and all good.

The Toyota Corolla 2002-08 is the Nokia of cars.
When I did, I say that it was the original starter from when the car was made. o_O I took it in and bought a brand new, not re-manufactured, starter and put it in. My car fired right up and I was able to use to get to work. Needless to say, I was happy to be back on the road. Aside from a replacement gas cap, a few flats, and routine maintenance, my corolla has been pretty reliable since I've bought it, which was January/ February of 2020. Overall, an excellent video. ^_^

Mine would rev up to 1500 rpm at first morning start while still parked.
Would continue for about 4-5 minutes... then gradually fall to proper 900 rpm. Every first start of the day was the same regardless of warm or cold weather.
Put a scan tool on it... indicated P1 to P4 cylinder misfire.
Replaced air intake manifold gasket.
Issue gone.
@@chrisr7597 I'm confused by your comment you made it sound like it was normal but then it turned into a manifold gasket issue
@@wastedsoftly3899 not normal at all. My tach would surge up to 1500 rpm and back down to 1000 back and forth at least 3 times before slowly climbing down to 900 after almost 10 min.
Had the air intake manifold gasket replaced (new orange rubber).... never surged again.
I bought a 2005 Corolla ce for $6500. Only has 37,000 miles and it was driven by an 80 year old man before me
Nice , I have an 04 Corolla S. Brought it in June this year for 3,000 ,175,000 miles but now it has 184,000. Brought it off a guy who had it for years , which his brother in law sold to him. So it’s been in the family. They kept up with the maintenance and now I’m the 3 owner. Best car I ever had! Reliable and great on gas. I do all my oil changes every 5-6 thousand miles and keep up with the maintenance. You’ll enjoy her take care of her and she’ll take care of you.
@@nathanbarraza365 appreciate it man! Take care!

2005 Corolla S running like a champ 👍
I really appreciate your presentation sir direct information with style💪💪😎😎
Thank you. Glad you liked the video!
06, 191k miles. One thing not to over look is the valve cover gasket. The rubber gasket had turned into hard plastic and stated to leak oil.
Never had any of these problems, with a 2005 corolla with 500.000 miles
Nice! Thanks for watching!

Just bought an 04 with 177k miles and only problems I see are rusty rocker panels and rusty back wheel drums. I almost didnt buy it but it's inspected for a while and for the price I paid it seems well worth it.
Thanks dude.... this is super awesome to know (and be prepared for) the typical problems with my (18 year old - 150K miles) 9th Generation Corolla. My car has a rattling startup that make a noise when I decelerate to/accelerate from a stop, and it typically goes away approximately 3 minutes later after engine warms up. Any ideas? Could it be that clogged screen to the VVTI you mentioned?
Dude that's the way that car is no matter what you do they do that when they're brand new they just get worse and worse noisy f****** Moda
Always like the videos helps me stay current and I can help others. Thanks a million guys.
Hey honest opinion I just bought a 03 corolla with 70k miles, you think this gonna last me a while?
Do regular maintenance it will last forever lol
