Never rush perfection. But, I'm young and have time to wait for what I can expect. I don't need another season 8. If I die, my daughter can enjoy lol. I'd rather not suffer through something rushed personally.
Good thing George R. R. Martin is still young and in good health! And even if he DOES die before completing his life's work, he can just do the Tolkien thing and have his kid finish the books. Oh, wait...
I haven't watched the news ever since Trump got elected..but I'm feeling this is a reference to a recent Trump quote..about at his wall , and Mexican immigration.. Am a in the ballpark??
@@DavidLightbringer Yep. Their sense of time must be quite different from that of mortals. " A thousand ages in thy sight, Are like an evening gone, Short as the watch that ends the night, Before the rising sun."
“When the stars were right, They could plunge from world to world through the sky; but when the stars were wrong, They could not live.”. ― Call of Cthulhu. It's probably another Lovecraft reference/homage in ASoIaF.
Dany still isn't in Westeros!!!! We are 5/7ths through the series. She won't be arriving until the very end of Winds. So she will only be in Westeros for ONE BOOK!!!! Talk about rushing, it will feel worse than the show. At this point, I'd rather GRRM subvert expectations and Dany dies in Essos, or just stays there and rules.
@@kryptiqk2141I bet she comes to Westeros and I bet she'll lose a dragon like in the show. But I hope it plays out a bit different maybe dying fighting the others even idk.
Rich petty people squabbling over politics while an existential threat looms over the world entirely unchecked... boy I’m glad thats just fantasy. (stares into the camera for 4 minutes)
JustinDL97 its not unchecked but its not taken so serious and a bit ignored but everyone knows about the existential threat not like in Westeros because they think its just children story not something real
@Kinickylj no republicans and centrist dems are not taking this seriously. Their first thought is how to give money to donors. Look at the corperate robbery to I wish leftist had the political capital to refuse. But they cant because it would be painted as not help the general public. Cause anything is better than nothing but what we are getting is next to nothing. Hopefully we arent in such an economic downturn that we can afford the Winds of Winter.
"We could see snow in Dorne, potentially" Well The good news is, there was already Snow in Dorne like 17 years ago when Jon was born, so there you have it.
They mentioned so many time how the Vale is impregnable to men, I figured that meant the final battle, because they’re gonna lose at Winterfell, will take place at the Vale
The Eyrie is near enough impregnable but it can't hold a very big garrison (no more than 1,000 men). In addition, few supplies can be transported through the Mountains of the Moon so they wouldn't be able to last a siege.
Jon Snow as the Night King would be a cool and terrifying twist. The hero turns into the most fearsome villain. I do love these prediction videos. I'm keeping a notebook of predictions. Well, one has to keep entertained between house chores. And I agree. An impregnable wall is there to be overrun and destroyed. It's a Titanic kind of thing.
"Last night he dreamt the Winterfell dream again...Only this time the dream had gone further than before. In the dark he heard the scrape of stone on stone. When he turned he saw that the vaults were opening, one after the other. As the dead kings came stumbling from their cold black graves, Jon had woken in pitch-dark, his heart hammering." I hope this foreshadows Jon getting the Kings of Winter to help in the New Long Night, to echo Aragorn and the army of the dead in LOTR.
My theory for what will kick off the upcoming Long Night is a massive volcanic eruption. This is just speculation on my part but if there was a volcano or volcanoes that's either beyond the Wall or even south of it laying dormant. If such volcanoes suddenly go off then the aftershock of the eruption would be what causes the Wall to come tumbling down, but what's more is the amount of ash spewing out of the volcanoes after a major eruption would be enough to block out the sun for quite some time. Edit: Another major outcome of volcanic ash blotting out the sun would be the onset of a volcanic winter where temperatures would drop drastically to unbearable levels which will make agriculture virtually impossible while also giving the Others the perfect conditions to start their invasion south.
I think it will be caused by an astronomical event, like a planet or planetoid (a "wandering star") coming near Planetos, enough that the tidal forces cause massive earthquakes, tsunamis, and super volcano eruptions. This happens in a cycle and civililzation has rebuilt itself countless times. Previous civilizations have achieved a lot more in terms of technology and magic.
Spend a single winter in Ireland. You'll quickly realise the mechanism of the long night. I've been living here for almost 10 years and the words "winter is coming" hit different here.
These videos are absolutely amazing guys thank you. Like 95% of people I hated season 8 (and 7) and kind of fell out of love with game of thrones but these are easing me back in to George's world. One good thing to maybe come out of this Coronavirus shit might be Winds of Winter...can only hope
Lol... Praying to the old gods and the new for it. BUT. We cant go get it. The crowds and lines for that book drop!?! Pfft. Wrap me in saran, im headin to barnes and noble...that isnt open.
Honestly thought that they would get whooped in the show by the others and have to retreat to Essos which Dany had fortified through her conquering because it would have given point in the show to Essos. Then have the others storm kings landing as Cersei gawks and gets nailed by the dead starving masses when they still had her starving (possibly)citizens of King’s Landing.
Imagine if when the wall broke in the show they actually had the whole sky go into a long night. They made the effort in with the red comet in the sky in one of the videos that everyone could see. Damn that was great transitioning they did
I've long felt that the theory this will end in some sort of marriage, whether literal or symbolic. That will be how the balance is restored, if it goes that route. There's a lot of symbolism and quotes from Martin that this isn't going to be about some big bloody slugfest. Even LoTR's big battle at the gates of Mordor was just a feint to help the real battle going down at Mount Doom.
Absolutely loving this series LmL and Quinn , this is certainly one of the most interesting topics in GRRM's universe , although I think we will end up seeing more of this overall concept in ADoS. So many interesting concepts and possibilities with this one . The Wall coming down does seem inevitable with all the textual foreshadowing and just how else are most of these events going to be facilitated. The Wall has intense magical barrier protections that most magical entities can not cross , so surely it has to come down ; the how is the big question , I don't think dragons could do it hence GRRM's giving us that Silverwing story not being able to cross it , and I have my doubts the Horn of Winter / Joramun's Horn doing that either. The timing with the book's Night's King is murky as are most of GRRM's ancient events but residing at the Nightfort seemingly on the Wall , controlling the Night's Watch likely with some type of sorcery , to me suggests after the Wall was constructed. And we know Joramun used it and the Wall was not damaged or taken down , plus what would taking the Wall down have helped Brandon the Breaker & Joramun back then if thats what the horn does , so that leaves me a bit skeptical. And lets presume the books NK was pre-Wall what magical use would the HoW have for Joramun to use against the Night's King in general if the Wall was not there ? Personally i think the HoW is more tied the Winterfell Crypts and raising the Stark dead. With taking down the Wall it seems more likely this unprecedented massive level of blood sacrifice Euron is up to could possibly be the catalyst for that (intentionally or not). In terms of defeating the Others definitely will not be as simplistic as the show made it only needing to take out their leader , we do not even have a book equivalent of that role atm. I do really like what LmL mentioned with Jon being a wight as needed to venture north of The Wall to take out some talisman to weaken the Others via a journey only a wight could survive. And in general i think unlike the show it will likely be a two pronged approach of some type of metaphysical intervention in the Weirwood net seemingly from Bran and a physical aspect as well likely from Jon , with many signs pointing to some resolution coming from the IoF. And of course there is the possibility Jon is the PtwP to the Others as mentioned during the stream , the special bloodlines could play into that and of course Jon would seemingly be selfless enough to volunteer himself for such a role to save the realm. I also always found it curious believe it was Ygritte in the books who called Jon Snow's name "evil" which could give another wrinkle to this idea ; maybe the Freefolk kept an oral story of the books' NK or another leader of the Others and his name was Jon Snow , possibly an ilegimate or younger brother Stark which Jon is presented as (even if his true parentage will say otherwise). That could be an added connection with Jon having to take over the Others or will lead the Others' at some point. Definitely looking forward to see how all this plays out in the books.
Old Nan knows nothing: "I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when the fear has gone, only I remain."
Side note for Bran playing with magic: I still think he caused the Mad King's "Burn them all". Makes perfect sense, even though they dismissed that in the show.
I think it was Blood Raven. That makes more sense to me. But I agree that someone was telling Aerys shit but i think he thought they were his own voices and never knows. Driving him into complete madness
I gotta be honest this is the only show (lml-and quinideas) that I look forward to and watch as soon as it airs. I check youtube to see if a new video is up even when im doing others stuff. i dont watch lml by himself and i dont watch quin ideas by himself. but when their powers combine They're captin planetos
When the stars align in the sky Nobody: The White Walkers: BUT I WOULD WALK 500 miles AND I WOULD WALK 500 MORE JUST TO BE THE WIGHT WHO WALKS A THOUSAND MILES TO BRING DOWN YOUR DOOR
"Thousands and thousands of years ago, a winter fell that was cold and hard and endless beyond all memory of man"... I'm guessing I'm not the first to see that this could be wordplay suggesting "a Winterfell that was cold and hard and endless..."? And that a description of a place in these words, sounds like a description which could fit the heart of winter, which Bran sees in his coma dream and is terrified of?
Love the chemistry between you two during this whole series! I love listening to you both voice ideas around and pull from the others individual videos. Keep up the good work!!
The books basically did the wight hunt in book one with Ser Allister and the wight's hand. Didn't work, don't think anyone would be dumb enough to try it again.
Im sure someone else has thought of this, but what if the Long Night never happened? What if all these fort names, and stories of darkness are all just bran time traveling to prepare the world for the Others attack?
I was thinking about this like what if the historical figures in the age of heros and the long night didn't actually happen, but are actually visions of the future written down by people in the past?
Dan N I’ve considered this... I like the idea, and that, assuming Bran becomes king in the books too, he spends his life preparing throughout history for the Long Night
@@Wolf-bz6kq you said strange things. First you said the armor is fake then you suggested that he found lannister's sword. In any case swords are not so special there are hundrets of them but only one armor.
I expect POV chapters of characters from all over Westeros chronicling their fight against the others, I want it to get so desperate that entire regions have to evacuate civilians and have them hold up in certain castles (Casterly Rock, Riverrun, Storms End, and the Red Keep in Kings Landing). I also want history repeating itself sort of by having the undead army purposely starving the people hunkered down in the Eyrie (this would be Sansa's POV chapter chronicling the desperation of the people trapped) in fact it would be so bad that there's a chance that we may see people resort to cannibalism for survival.
Man you two are killing it, these videos are great. Thank you so much for these, we need them during these strange times. I think I can speak for everyone saying how much we appreciate the work and you. Thanks again.
Still a fan of the idea there's a dragon/s in the bottom of the crypts. Aside from dragonstone, winterfell is the only place in westeros hinted at being suitable for dragons.. and I feel like george wouldn't have included the story about eggs laid in the crypts for nothing either. There's also hints at there being an ice dragon built into the wall! Part of the magic of the wall is the dragon inside I believe. Either way, I certainly think we'll see another dragon before the end of the story.
And I believe that is where Jon and fAegon (if he lives and fights in the War for the Dawn) will hatch their own dragons If this whole theory is canonised!
Quinn, your videos have kept me sane lately, and helped me to rediscover my love of this series. I had started to lose interest after waiting so long for WoW; diving back into the lore and possibilities, now, has me always thinking and is keep at least my mind active. Thank you!
There was a video game called Myth the Fallen Lords where a great evil called the Leveler would rise every thousand years when a great comet appeared in the sky and begins an age of darkness until a hero rises and brings in an age of light. The bit i love about the lore. A twisted and ironic attribute that the Leveler has is that it would return in the next age, stronger then before and possessing the body and soul of the hero who defeated it. Hence the hero that saves the world from darkness would be doomed to destroy it and all that they had fought hard to save. You guys put me in the mood to reply these games again. Thanks.
This episode - from this series of twow predictive vids - was an absolute banger, my fav so far.... Especially the discussion towards the end of the vid, till the end -has got to be my favorite professional, yes, professional collabs of you both. Like harmony. You two coming together. ...hell, ya said it yourself in this vid
@@made-line7627 Yes! The small island in the middle of a lake South of the Riverlands. It's where the First Men and the Children of the Forest signed their truce. :)
One of the things the stands out to me about the tale of the Night's King is his wife. A woman "with skin as white as the moon and eyes like blue stars" and "her skin was cold as ice". He gives her his seed and soul and he declared himself king and her his queen. Sounds to me like a marriage pact, and since the timeline is a bit fuzzy i think this might've been what actually ended the long night. That's how wars usually end, right? Peace and a marriage to seal the deal. A Stark of the Night's Watch marrying an Other to end the long night. If Jon turns into an Other i think marrying Dany could mirror that nicely.
I think all the nights king symbolism points that the real power is the Nights Queen Stannis, Aemon one eye they both were heavily influenced by strong mystical Women. The Great Other and The Stranger, IMO are female. She is The Snow Queen, a great and ancient Goddess of Winter. The cruelest aspect of mother nature.
Isn't Val regularly described as pale with blue eyes? It's been a while since I read the books and i wouldn't trust the show depiction even if she was in it.
I’m totally with you on the long night episode LML I thought it was going to be hands down the greatest episode of TV ever made up until the last 5mins. When John starts running at the Night King and the NK turns around and raises the dead I told my GF “well they’ve lost. John needs to get on the dragon with Danny and get out of there”.... and when that didn’t happen I just kept saying “no no no..” lol but all the mistakes would’ve been forgiven if they would’ve just lost and had to fall back because then you could chalk it up like yeah they made mistakes that’s why they lost.... I just don’t understand narratively speaking how you can have a threat that everyone is saying the whole world needs to unite to stop and also have a castle said to be able to house the whole kingdom in Harrenhall and you don’t use it lol... mark my words ALL the kingdoms of men will gather and unite at Harrenhall at some point in the story they just have too lol
That’s a popular opinion but not one I share. I think parts of seasons 5-6 were bad and most of seasons 7-8 were bad but not all. None of the seasons are as good as the books for sure but I don’t see them as the same so I don’t really compare them. I go by how much enjoyment I got from watching the episodes and talking about them with friends. Hardhome and battle of the bastards are some of the best hours of television every created so to call the whole season “bad” would be letting my emotions cloud my judgement which is what I think most people do when it comes to this show. Fully understandable but I don’t agree.
You think the best episode on television would be a huge battle episode?? Then I guess you think The Avengers movies are the best movies ever too. Sorry but for an episode to be the best on TV, it needs an exceptional level of writing and Oscar-worthy acting, and of course it should be a changing point in the series. That’s why Breaking Bad’s Ozymandias is still the best TV episode, and a lot others too. I’ll give points to Battle of the Bastards for the outstanding cinematography and production, and because of being a satisfying moment. The Long Night was one of the worst things I’ve ever seen on TV.
Arian Serrano First off you can go fuck yourself coming at me like that and trying to straw man me and insult my intelligence because you don’t share an opinion you think I have. Second off I agree with you the long night episode is horrible and third I also agree with you that Breaking bad Ozymandias is probably the best episode of television ever made. I was describing the emotions I was feeling while watching the episode for the first time not how I feel about it in general or with hindsight. Also action scenes/movies have their place in cinema just as well as outstanding character actors and amazing dialogue and to write it off is stupid. A good fight scene takes just as much talent and skill to create as anything else in film.
@@KingOfWinter If we agree on most things then why tf are you insulting when I didn’t even insult you? The reason I said that is because I am fcking tired of people praising a movie/tv show because of spectacle and action. And saying “action have their place in cinema just as well as outstanding character actors and amazing dialogue and to write it off is stupid” With that logic movies like 300, Transformers, and The Avengers would be as good as The Godfather and Shawshank Redemption. Here’s the difference, a great team of writers and actors can do something amazing with a small budget(the Fly episode in Breaking Bad is an example), and if they have a bigger budget, even better, but a mediocre writer can only hide his flaws by impressing the audience with spectacle, so they rely HEAVILY on the production team. I loved the BotB, and I praise it highly for the cinematography and mindblowing production. But the writing of the episode and the overall season is mediocre. It perfectly could’ve been a fan fiction with massive budget. Yes action can be amazing, but it’s much better when the writing behind it is also amazing, otherwise it’s just action for the sake of action. Battle of Blackwater is IMO a much better episode, the dialogue scenes from Cersei and Tyrion was top notch.
The Children of the Forest's character seems to be similar to the Seelie Court of the Sidhe: associated with spring, summer, warmth, gentle rains, gentle breezes, & troublesome, yet not too violently troublesome aspects of nature. The Others are definitely more like the Unseelie: They're associated with autumn, especially with winter, the cold, night, violent storms, & other harsher aspects of nature.
Oh yes, this jumped right out at me. But the Sidhe are in balance with the seasons, and the seasons in balance with the wheel of the year. Not on Planatos, though.
Coldhands told Sam about then magic of The Wall on how it requires the men of the nights watch to be true. We know that as of the mutiny against Jon Snow, two Lord Commanders have now been Killed by their brothers and Jon has first men blood. I'll assume the magic of the wall breaking will begin the Long Night, if I'm right it goes a long way explaining the events that in the north, the attack at the Fist, (which killed the most loyal brothers, leaving only the scoundrels), Sam being saved by Coldhands. As well as Jon ascension to lord commander, by landslide, which was strange because he was being accused of desertion at the time. Could these events have the same two architects? It's a thought.
Crazy idea: suppose the earth were to stop spinning. That would hide the sun from a lot of people for a while. And if it lasted long enough it would scorch the other side of the world. I said it before: we have no record of the Long Night form anywhere sharing a longitude with Valryia. No such legend from the Ghis, nor Qarth. The last two are places Daenerys has spent a good deal of time in and should hear of these things. Valyria is said to be the land of the Long Summer, maybe they had a summer/day parallel to the Long Night.
There's just one problem with that, the apocalyptic destruction caused by the inertia of everything on the surface of the planet, as it all was previously spinning at around 1.000 mph (Earth's terms). I believe an eclipse would be more fitting.
i found the beginning of this SO funny, the grim quote that transitioned into the two of them in winter gear indoors? the shabby snow effect? the random stalactites?? quinn going "we want the winds of winter george!" and then catching himself like "take your time.... but we ARE ready" there were many comical layers (figuratively and also literally, i mean; a ushanka? for real?) to it
Two thoughts.... determining causation. Did dragons bring magic back to the world or did dragons come back because magic was returning? Also... the most common cruelest curse (aka "Go to Hell") is "Others Take You".... and if memory serves, this is not isolated to Westeros. I believe it's been said in many places in Planetos.... Were there "others" on the other continents?
Jesus Christ the artwork you guys have in your videos are amazing. You need to put links to all these artist or just a list of their names. Also love your videos
I normally I don't like it when two guys just sit at the table and talk I like graphics and visuals in voice overs, but you guys have solid voice and good sound effects and good solid speed. I actually enjoyed this video quite a bit and I look forward to more.
Samwell Tarly constantly references “SNOW FALLING” upon The Brothers of The Night’s Watch during the attack of The Others & their Wights at The Fist of The First Men! I think Jon Snow will be possessed for a time during the next book.
The Others are definitly ancient creatures but I like to believe that they awaked again and prepared their new invasion at Dany's birth, like 2 opposites tied to eachother. Ice called Fire and vice versa. I think Dany represents something that will bring back order in the kingdoms and the wrath of the children is trying to counter that like they want to see them at eachother's troats as some kind of revenge for destroying their mainland
I'm definitely behind the idea that the Others are looking for Jon, at least in part of what they are looking to do. Your guys' and others' previous analysis of the GOT prologue supports it for me.
I believe the Others could reach Kingslanding, it would be the perfect target for the Others that would make their army unstoppable with its millions of residents. It would also make a perfect trap for Jon/Dany to use the hidden wildfire cashes to burn a large portion of the undead army... and Trion knows of those cashes. Why do the Others need to take Winterfell? The Others don't have supply lines or a flank that they'd need to protect so they could just bypass the fortress... Winterfell is desigened to survive an attack by tbe Others and yet can't really threaten their army. What the Others need are bodies, and southern kingdoms are not well prepared to fight them eq Kingslanding and the Reach. Also I think the dead Starks will be risen from the cripts but will defend Winterfell. If they would serve the enemy, no Stark bodies would have ever be kept if this was the case they would have burned all bodies like the Free Folk do.
oo that wildfire theory might make sense and be similar to the hodor scenario but this time Bran turns the Mad king mad and thats why he kept shouting burn them all
I have a theory that george will use the long night to make the five year gap he initially intended, like is a good moment to make the caracters grow up without much thing having to happen during the long night, not sure how, but i think that during this time he wont need to much flashbacks to tell what happened, all the caracters will just be surviving, so it could work better
I always thought that the name Winterfell was a misdirection. You are supposed to think that it's where winter stops or something. But what if there was an ancient ice dragon named Winter? The location where this terrible beast was killed might be called Winter Fell. Hence the place that the others want to get to, to do some magic with dragon remains or to resurrect it or wake it up or something like that.
Even further, my theory extends to the crypts and Coldhands. If Coldhands is in fact Benjen Stark as was confirmed in the show (but only implied vaguely in the books) then perhaps the Starks have some sort of immunity to the mind control portion of the Others wight magic. This would mean that A) there is a clear and interesting resurrection path for Jon Snow, B) the reason the Stark kings have such specific burial right with their swords and bodies in the crypts is to defend Winterfell from an invasion from the others.
when the first long night fell, mankind was in the bronze age, they didn,t have then umbers, and they didn't have the technology to face the ww. Now they have steel, they have armour, they have bigger and stronger castles, even with the civil war, I still think they outnumber the first men.
Old Nan is the nights king confirmed! Where did that wise old woman go? Taken prisoner by the Bolton’s I believe.. below the Dreadfort? What if she turns up at winterfell after the battle of Ice. You two are really killing it with these TWOW videos. Thanks for the content!
One other thought - it's not an "ice" weight... or "ice" magic - It's fire magic and FROZEN fire magic, I think. There is water magic, used mostly by the Rhoynar... and fire/blood magic. I'd imagine combining all of those sources would be the most powerful... but who knows? I still want to know why there are hell-houd gargoyles at Dragonstone... Is the dire wolf a counterpart to the dragons somehow? Nobody has really explored the significance of the dire wolves... even though all the statues of the kings of winter had one sculpted at their feet. I've heard very little about them.
What if the Others are another intelligent species, and they're just pissed at humans for breaking some long forgotten pact/rules? Maybe humans don't defeat them, but use diplomacy to end the new Long Night by forming a new pact.
Only watched the first season so far. I thought of the book "the third body problem." The seemingly random nature of the seasons in both stories seem very much the same. Maybe not so extreme in game of thrones.
Jon Snow: The statement connected to both Jon, and Daenerys, is “the prince that was promised”. But promised to whom, or what? This is never elaborated upon. It is left for readers to conclude its meaning. It is not at all clear what it is that Jon needs to do in order to fulfill the prophecy. What is this story about, really: There are no clear lines drawn. We know that a long night is coming, and the others will be invading the Seven Kingdoms. It is not really stated in the books what this means. Some characters view it in as, an Ice vs Fire, yin vs yang, good vs evil, battle for all life on the planet. But is this really the case? GRRM doesn't like black and white, he's writes his characters as gray. Does this mean that the others, contrary to the TV show, will have the ability to communicate and express their reason(s) for coming south? Also, one must be aware that even with gray writing, when it comes to the end it is less likely to be as gray as it has been. Eventually, people written as gray must eventually move either to black or white for the final battle, won't they? It has absolutely happened in our real world that not comprehending an opponent's intentions, culture, desires, or wants, lead to divisions that become polar (black and white). A great example of this is how after WWI the West completely dismissed Japan's part in the war and gave them nothing, in fact there were naval pacts created afterward to limit their navy. At the same time Japan was happy to have played a part in the success of WWI and rightfully expected to be seen as an equal at the bargaining table, which they were not. This led to divisions and changed how Japan viewed the West. It effected their actions in Manchuria and later toward the US. So not having the will to understand an opponent is a hubris that can lead to destruction on a massive scale. And it's not black and white at the start, it's gray, but when the war starts it turns black and white, us vs them, etc. Sometimes, important people come to realize it is not black and white and work with like-minded members of the opposing side. This is reminiscent to how the first Pact was made between the First Men and the Children of the Forest. GRRM is getting at something here with this story, but it is unknown what that something is. If it can be figured out, perhaps other puzzle pieces will be recognized and become able to easily fall into place. So far as I can tell, the story has been thus far an allegory for a coming Ice Age. Cold comes down from the North and if people do not move South, they parish. Logically speaking, any Long Night would cool the planet and start one of these. Its intensity depends on the length of the night. All of which plays into GRRM's story thus far. What the Others have to do with it is uncertain. The Others: Who are they? Do they want something? Are they capable of communicating? Can they be bargained with? It is all unknown. The only writings tell of a Pact between the Children of the Forest and the First Men, not the Others and the First Men. The books identify no King of the Others. If these people are indeed related to the Children of the Forest then I would suspect their hierarchy to be the same. If one can figure out how leadership is done within the various Children of the Forest camps then I would suspect the others will have a similar form. If, like shown in the HBO show, the Children of the Forest created the first Other, did they create more than one? If they created only the single Other, it is likely that person is the one to create more (not talking about white walkers), however, if all are thralls to the one that created them, then there is really no need for a King because there is really only one true Other, the rest being created by him, as are the dead frozen white walkers the one Other reanimates. It all depends on what the Others actually are when considering a possibility of there being a King. It appears clear that Bran seen them far above the point of Always Winter in his fever dream as he lay in a coma, being coaxed to learn to fly by the three-eyed crow. From those passages, and other tales from sailors that returned from the Northern most reaches of the Shivering Sea, it appears that magical creatures live in the area the farthest North in the world. Did the Children of the Forest create all of them, did the one Other they created also create the creatures when he created more Others? All questions that right now have no answers. So how will it all end: Honestly, I have no idea. I can not say with any degree of certainty or satisfaction what, Jon, Daenerys, Arya, Tyrion, Jaime, and Cersi Lannister, Brianne of Tarth, or any other character will do moving forward, or if any of all will live through it to the end. All the old legends and prophecies are steeped in so much symbolism to make such predictions mere speculation at this point. Key questions remain about very important details that will mean a lot to the ending, and this is not even considering the coming Spring or Summer. At this point no one but GRRM, and maybe one or two hand-picked authors, knows where this is going. It is why there is so much anticipation in the coming book(s). I know I'm eager to get my hands on the Winds of Winter. What I hope will happen" Given the fact that GRRM doesn't like to write in terms of black and white, I'm leaning more toward a theory that somehow humans caused something, perhaps unintentionally, that needs to be fixed. This something needs to be identified then repaired. It would deal with healing something, like the Weirwood, or someone like the Night King or Others. This makes it so black and white does not really exist. It leans more in the direction of how the Japanese were treated after WWI. Conscious entities have points of view, and in the books we have not been given any from the Others or Children of the Forest. No point of view from an aspect that allows one to clearly understand, "OH, okay, I see, they didn't realize they did "this" so it caused "that" and now this must be healed so that will be okay again. Why this is the case it then the whole story would be spoiled and understood and everyone could then predict the end. This would not be so good, but it must come out at some point in the books or how can it be fixed? I like the healing part. Maybe with green dragon glass, something gets healed and not simply killed.

Hi Quinn and LmL, not a complain but an observation. I thought you guys would cover what’s happening in the Vale, Winterfell and Kings Landing then wrap up with this video. Thanks for another epic video. ❤️🌹
Great vid guys! Though I think it’s fair to say we’re probably not going to get the long night until ADOS, there are already so many plot lines and events that are going to be taking place in TWOW, though GRRM did say we’ll see more of the others in winds, I reckon it’ll be in Bran’s chapters, kinda like what the show did in season 6, but hopefully a lot more in depth
That was cool as hell.Been following you guys for years.Have heard all your theories, but this series is awsome primes tha reader for rereads and of course WoW. Keep it coming, handsome dudes.
Jon is in ghost. Jon’s body is raised by the others, he has red eyes and awakes the ice dragon. When the ice dragon wakes he is in the ice wall so a big chunk gets destroyed and Jon mounts the dragon and flys north. Bran gets back to the wall and works with melisondra to get Jon’s spirit out of ghost. Ghost has to be sacrificed. And Jon snaps back into his body, using green magic and red god magic. He still has control of the dragon and turns around to go back to the wall.
"Whenever you're ready, George" - that was oddly wholesome. A rather uncommon sentiment as of late.
Fuck that, that fat ass needs to finish the book NOW.

The song of ice and fire world is fantastic. Even if the series never really gets wrapped up completely, he still built something fantastic.
Good thing George R. R. Martin is still young and in good health! And even if he DOES die before completing his life's work, he can just do the Tolkien thing and have his kid finish the books. Oh, wait...

I would love it if Dany lands in Westeros and it’s deep into winter already.
She and her army would really be at a disadvantage!
It's worse in real life because there's more than one existential threat looming.

@Marcus-Aerilius Maximus Settle down, you won't do shit.
"We could see snow in Dorne, potentially"
Well
The good news is, there was already Snow in Dorne like 17 years ago when Jon was born, so there you have it.
Maybe there was snow in Red mountains, but they expect it to be in deserts and south shores.
Damn.
Is that a reference to the rumours around eddark stark and ashara dayne?
@loveyourselfxx h He could be. If we assume by the time he dies Daenerys is 15 or 16 that makes him 16 or 17
Nice, I just noticed this. Glad I wasn't the only one! It would be hella cool if Jon's birth in Dorne has some effect on things to come.
They mentioned so many time how the Vale is impregnable to men, I figured that meant the final battle, because they’re gonna lose at Winterfell, will take place at the Vale
I hope it goes down at kings landing
A final battle at the Vale would be EPIC
I think it's gonna be at the god's eye though. With Arya's wolf pack coming howling to her rescue.
The Eyrie is near enough impregnable but it can't hold a very big garrison (no more than 1,000 men). In addition, few supplies can be transported through the Mountains of the Moon so they wouldn't be able to last a siege.
@@jacobbowsie3396 I don’t think the Army of the Dead would be trying to siege anything.
"Mr. Bastard, bring down this wall" -Mance Rayder, Winds of Winter, probably..

Though it’s tear down this wall
Jon Snow as the Night King would be a cool and terrifying twist. The hero turns into the most fearsome villain. I do love these prediction videos. I'm keeping a notebook of predictions. Well, one has to keep entertained between house chores. And I agree. An impregnable wall is there to be overrun and destroyed. It's a Titanic kind of thing.
It is even good if some part of jon in wolf and somepart in nightking
Plays into the theory of Jon being "the Prince that was promised" to the others
We know it’s a great topic since Quinn put on his starry wisdom glasses
I really like the idea that Euron brings down the wall with the horn of winter which he’ll get at oldtown
"Last night he dreamt the Winterfell dream again...Only this time the dream had gone further than before. In the dark he heard the scrape of stone on stone. When he turned he saw that the vaults were opening, one after the other. As the dead kings came stumbling from their cold black graves, Jon had woken in pitch-dark, his heart hammering."
I hope this foreshadows Jon getting the Kings of Winter to help in the New Long Night, to echo Aragorn and the army of the dead in LOTR.
I think the dead kings must rise.
Or it could mean that he will end up a dead/zombie King of winter himself. Either way I'm cool.
@@SUPERHONEYBUNNY
That too.
I think Jon will either actually take command of The Others or grant them what they desire, with Bran's helo.
Yeah iv always thought the same ghost of Dunharrow sort of thing, maybe they'll rise after the horn is blown (the horn that wakes the sleepers)
I think it'd be more Martinesque if the dead kings of winter came out to help the Others!
Edit: Another major outcome of volcanic ash blotting out the sun would be the onset of a volcanic winter where temperatures would drop drastically to unbearable levels which will make agriculture virtually impossible while also giving the Others the perfect conditions to start their invasion south.
right, that's what I am suggesting, but with a meteor impact as the trigger.
Previous civilizations have achieved a lot more in terms of technology and magic.
barbiquearea I’ve always liked the idea that the reason the Others are moving south is to possibly stop a volcanic eruption or fleeing from one
Something to the scale as Mount Vesuvius in Pompeii?
@@vikki8699 Think even biger like a possible Yellowstone eruption

Honestly thought that they would get whooped in the show by the others and have to retreat to Essos which Dany had fortified through her conquering because it would have given point in the show to Essos. Then have the others storm kings landing as Cersei gawks and gets nailed by the dead starving masses when they still had her starving (possibly)citizens of King’s Landing.
I hoped for the Others to win
This is why I'm not a fan of Dany. She's in Essos. I don't care about Essos. It's been 5 books. Only 2 to go. Why is Dany not in Westeros yet?
@kryptiqk2141 she is fucking abolishing an entire system called SLAVERY 💀
Imagine if when the wall broke in the show they actually had the whole sky go into a long night. They made the effort in with the red comet in the sky in one of the videos that everyone could see. Damn that was great transitioning they did
I've long felt that the theory this will end in some sort of marriage, whether literal or symbolic. That will be how the balance is restored, if it goes that route. There's a lot of symbolism and quotes from Martin that this isn't going to be about some big bloody slugfest. Even LoTR's big battle at the gates of Mordor was just a feint to help the real battle going down at Mount Doom.
I agree.
The Others will not be defeated in a battle.

Side note for Bran playing with magic: I still think he caused the Mad King's "Burn them all". Makes perfect sense, even though they dismissed that in the show.

I'm guessing I'm not the first to see that this could be wordplay suggesting "a Winterfell that was cold and hard and endless..."? And that a description of a place in these words, sounds like a description which could fit the heart of winter, which Bran sees in his coma dream and is terrified of?
I totally agree with that and with old nan saying the nights king was a stark I feel like he has to be somewhere deep in winterfells crypts.

This series of videos make me read the books in a different way! Thank you so much for this
I expect POV chapters of characters from all over Westeros chronicling their fight against the others, I want it to get so desperate that entire regions have to evacuate civilians and have them hold up in certain castles (Casterly Rock, Riverrun, Storms End, and the Red Keep in Kings Landing). I also want history repeating itself sort of by having the undead army purposely starving the people hunkered down in the Eyrie (this would be Sansa's POV chapter chronicling the desperation of the people trapped) in fact it would be so bad that there's a chance that we may see people resort to cannibalism for survival.

Thanks.

We’re living through the real life long night rn, I must say, it sucks. A lot.
Our Watch Continues!
This video is far better than the entire final season. I can’t wait for the books to come out (whenever that will be).

Thomas Smithson I’m so glad I didn’t see any of that season 8 crap
The real long night is coming.
...and toilet paper will *not* be featured.
"They'll just dance lol"
The shadows have come to dance my lord, dance my lord
Man i love this series, you both compliment each other perfectly

i found the beginning of this SO funny, the grim quote that transitioned into the two of them in winter gear indoors? the shabby snow effect? the random stalactites?? quinn going "we want the winds of winter george!" and then catching himself like "take your time.... but we ARE ready" there were many comical layers (figuratively and also literally, i mean; a ushanka? for real?) to it
You guys make a great team. You perfectly capture the brilliance of the series, and I love the music you use.
Ahh my two favourite ASOIAF youtubers, and In Deep Geek of course
Two thoughts.... determining causation. Did dragons bring magic back to the world or did dragons come back because magic was returning? Also... the most common cruelest curse (aka "Go to Hell") is "Others Take You".... and if memory serves, this is not isolated to Westeros. I believe it's been said in many places in Planetos.... Were there "others" on the other continents?

Those icicles and snow are hilarious! You guys really make the videos great!
I have this image in my head of Jon becoming a wight that controls dragons and basically is this god among men who leads magic out of the world
This in my opinion would be the best way to continue Jon’s story arc
I feel like I have to say it: you two have just my kind of style
The Others are definitly ancient creatures but I like to believe that they awaked again and prepared their new invasion at Dany's birth, like 2 opposites tied to eachother. Ice called Fire and vice versa. I think Dany represents something that will bring back order in the kingdoms and the wrath of the children is trying to counter that like they want to see them at eachother's troats as some kind of revenge for destroying their mainland
Quinn your voice never fails to give me some deep chills❄❄🤣
I'm definitely behind the idea that the Others are looking for Jon, at least in part of what they are looking to do. Your guys' and others' previous analysis of the GOT prologue supports it for me.
Nice thabks Quinn. Im going to still check that full stream out in sure you guys had fun
Guys I love your TWOW prediction videos. You guys are the best imho. Please more ASOIAF / book related videos please. Thank you
I believe the Others could reach Kingslanding, it would be the perfect target for the Others that would make their army unstoppable with its millions of residents.
'fell' means 'hill'
Who else watching in 2024😭
This is the best TWOW content on YT
Rewatching this series and eagerly awaiting your next collaboration.
The real winds of winter is the friends we made along the way
I didn't even notice the night king Xmas sweater until towards the end, that's dope dude!
when the first long night fell, mankind was in the bronze age, they didn,t have then umbers, and they didn't have the technology to face the ww.
I like your opening read with the creepy music in the background. Feels like im watching some crazy anime.
Jon Snow:
The statement connected to both Jon, and Daenerys, is “the prince that was promised”. But promised to whom, or what? This is never elaborated upon. It is left for readers to conclude its meaning. It is not at all clear what it is that Jon needs to do in order to fulfill the prophecy.
What is this story about, really:
There are no clear lines drawn.
The Others:
Who are they?
So how will it all end:
Honestly, I have no idea.
What I hope will happen"
Given the fact that GRRM doesn't like to write in terms of black and white, I'm leaning more toward a theory that somehow humans caused something, perhaps unintentionally, that needs to be fixed.
I do understand what you're saying here. I agree with the sentiment, at least. But, in the immortal words of pooh bear, "that was so very many words, for so very little meaning."
@@heatherwillis-kershner1973 Yes, it is. I'm still a novice writer and I'm working to become more concise. I have a bad habit of my thoughts wandering, and I type where I wander. =)
@@InterestedAmerican you're doing well to try, we need more writers
It’s comments like these that support a character limit from TH-cam.
"The regular length night" cracks me up every time I watch this video 😂😂😂😂
I hope the two of you start a new Quinn/LmL collab channel!! Always love the live streams!
Mmmmm..the Ice Dragon! I had not recalled they were so huge! I love this 💕
Omg the two of you nerding out is so awesome. Would love to be in that room with a joint and a six pack 😆
