Euron sitting atop the dead gods makes me think he will burn the city down since it holds the Sept and the citadel. Destroying gods and knowledge in one go. This would allow him to rewrite history.
northmen, ironborn, andals have written history as they pleased. euron will also do nothing new. history is written by victors with the blood of the defeated.
The surprise is that Lord Leyton has been dead this whole time. Sam or Euron/Damphair will climb the Hightower only to find a skeleton laying in bed, clutching an old book.
I think the horn Sam has will cause a Tsunami. The horn wakes giants from the earth. Sounds like it's made cause earthquakes, and not necessarily bring down the wall. Like Melisandre said she saw a bloody tide rising from the depths.
But what I find really ironic is that the citidel has this mysterious magical past but the men that run it now are trying to squish all traces of magic and refuse to teach it and keep it totally under wraps even though in the past it seemed to be the heart of magic in westeros...
Could just be that many of people training and coming out from Maester school weren’t seeing any magic as it was kind of missing for a while or at least for the less powerful people, so why wouldn’t they begin to reject or get away from believing in it?
It's possible that Euron is going to slaughter the Hightowers but it's also quite possible that Leyton Hightower is waiting Euron in is tower as an ally, as his loyal servant and perhaps even as his stepfather. If the Hightowers are practicing sorcery, I could guess that lord Leyton and his daughter Malora the Mad Maid saw the coming of Euron Greyjoy. One thing is certain for me : I can't think that the Oldman of Oldtown is waiting for his death while doing nothing.
@@thanghoang3198 I'd put money on Euron getting to the top of that tower one way or the other. Be it by stealth, trickery, raising an army of squishers from the deep to attack Oldtown via massive blood sacrifice of both sides during the upcoming naval battle, setting off a magic-powered H-bomb via massive blood sacrifice that leaves half the reach a hellish wasteland of radioactive magic like a new Valyria, whatever it is, somehow Euron's going to climb to the top of some tall tower and leap....., and by leap I mean blow the Horn of Winter and let the Others in. 😈 Haha
Maybe Oldtown would end up like Asshai? Magical land, ancient people, city of learning, dragons, apocalyptic events, and Westeros falls as well? GRRM did say it's not going to end in the way we expect fantasies to end.
very cool thought - maybe an icy Asshai, if Winter gets all the way down there? though i have thought GRRM is more referring to a pact with the Others. even still, Asshai-Oldtown can happen in that future too
If the first Hightower put an end to the dragons of Battle Isle that would suggest that the Hightowers were definitely not dragon lords but perhaps they overthrew the dragon lords who ruled Oldtown before them
my prediction is that Lord Hightower is GRRM trying to finish writing the history since Robert's Rebellion but new stuff keeps happening and he doesn't know how to stop. Roberts Rebellion did take place 10 years before the start of ASOIAF, and he's been up there for 10 years
If Euron burns the Hightower, it will be a giant flaming sword with a black dragon bone hilt. Bonus points if before it burns, people get murdered in there, making it a giant bloody sword. My joke theory is that when Euron gets to the top of the tower, he see's a crazy old wizard man, Lord Leyton and he reminds him of Bloodraven, and throws him off the the tower. No but seriously, everyone in Oldtown is probably going to die, we have to see all these big fleets and armies that are left get mauled so there's less resources for when its important.
@@DavidLightbringer Yepp, either by Dragon or just plain old fire, its burning. And Euron will take everybody left alive for thralls. All Hail the new and improved Nights King, Mr Euron Greyjoy. Keep up the amazing work!
We can safely predict Euron's naval victory, but on land the Ironborns are a joke, esp in open battles, and Garland is also coming. Well, unless, the Tower itself is on water and thus Euron can sail directly to the Tower without fighting through the streets. Because, I will bet on Hightower armoured aoldiers and knights over the Ironborns in street fighting.
Excellent stuff with equally interesting subject matter , the Hightowers / their actual tower definitely some of the most mysterious and fascinating elements of the ASoIaF narrative and its history. Definitely subscribe to the base of the Hightower being evidence of a pre-Valyrian dragon-riding culture likely which were GEotD and that some remnant of them , more likely than not after the empire's collapse post the Bloodstone Emperor's demise & fallout who taught the Valyrians dragon-riding and everything associated with it including the genetic component and most likely dragon-steel etc. That added element with the site of the actual tower just brings the whole mystery , significance and intrigue with the Hightowers to another level. And in general the Ht's are a mega powerful / influential House who have their hands in almost every facet of Westerosi life which they use as vehicles for said influence(s) the Citadel , the Faith , banking , at times intermarrying with the needed powerful House(s) at any given time and dabbling with seemingly hidden arcana which has them operating on another level than the masses. They are masters of wielding influence (in many ways the most powerful / influential House in the realm) through all those vehicles for their own agendas and their methodology behind that even with a large powerful army and all those spheres of influence at their disposal that they seem to possibly control or at least significantly leverage ; but seemingly never use any of it to degree to draw the ire or attention from the masses in doing so. They are certainly tucked away in their ivory tower for the most part. Although I expect with Euron closing in , dragons soon returning to the continent and the impending threat of the Others ; that those factors' converging will force the Hightowers down literally and figuratively from their tower to get involved to a degree the Ht's have not in generations or even millennia. Look forward to see what comes from this near unprecedented level of involvement from House Hightower.
@@DavidLightbringer absolutely , the companion books and those asides in the main series we are getting a host of influential Hightowers holding a variety of high level positions in the distant past up to the present and all throughout in-between. And there is a history of the Ht's mitigating threats like the Andal invasion , the Conquest & subsequent Targ monarchy , disease outbreaks , invading Ironborn forces among other threats. Getting more and more examples of them in positions of power and influence so often spanning so many eras past and present and mitigating threats could be giving us glimpses & hints of their potential role(s) in the remaining books in the series.
Could Malora be to Euron what Tyanna was to Maegor? And speaking of Maester Luwin/inter-maester conflict, it seems very odd that he taught the Citadel's narrative on magic, yet he made a concerted effort (while mortally wounded) to die in front of the weirwood. Almost as though he sacrificed himself to the old gods. Assuming Luwin's blood was absorbed by the tree, I'd be curious what if anything Bran could learn from it.
I'm not sure what you mean by that but I was simply referring to his new ability to enter weirwoods. If Luwin's lifeblood was absorbed by the tree, presumably Bran could access it as he hones his craft.
Your guys’ collaborations has been a real treat to this community. Thanks for the videos and the awesome discussions and theories. Loving it. Definitely helps make the wait for TWOW easier.
"Everyone is sleeping on Lord Leyton" BRUH the Hightower have kept to themselves for too long, I for one look forward to see what's up with them! They've been hyped, now we need to _see_ how up to their reputation they are.
Perhaps Lord Hightower himself has some sickness, perhaps even Greyscale! He is there since 10 years... must be around the same time little Shireen (Born in 289 AC) got Greyscale too
I want a full blown, fantasy magic battle between Leyton Hightower and Euron, where they're throwing force field balls one after the other, till one of them dies.
Unpopular opinion: Euron won't set foot in old town at all. He's luring the armies of the Reach back to the west, sailing around dorne, and attacking the East coast while the reachmen are wringing their hands and waiting for more iron men to attack their coasts.
I love this series so much! The way you both think so deeply about the text and have so much genuine love for sharing your ideas together - awesome! ⭐️
Glad you guys covered this; taking on the whole mystical and mythologised parts of the series again reminds me of the podcasts you did years ago lol. Thanks kings!
Sio Goat The “animals as leaders days☄️🎶” were wonderful if thats kind of the era you’re referring to. It’s what intrigued me so much to start but all the new stuff is great too. I still continue to really enjoy the passion and depth of asoiaf analysis from LmL. Quinn too!
My bet is that Leyton will try to fight Euron with magic and he'll probably die in a couple of seconds because he didn't actually learn shit about magic.
Well, that would be terribly boring. Euron comes, wins everything, Deanerys burns him. I bet he will defeat overconfident Redwyne~Tyrell fleet, and then he'll get his ass kicked by the Hightowers, due to overconfidence he will get after won battle. People look at Euron and see that almighty god-like being he wants to be, but reality is much different. He doesn't even project absolute power over Ironborn, far less winds and see and fire and stuff. If you recall properly, Euron plan was to GO TO ESSOS, to reach Deanerys and her dragons, but his men OPPOSED HIM and he was forced to send Victarion. He isn't as powerful as he wants others to think he is
I love this series and I look forward to these videos everyday! I can't wait for the Jaime, Brienne, and Stoneheart plotline. Also, the Sansa, Littlefinger, and Harry the heir plotline. I hope these will be getting videos?
Fun conspiracy theory Moat Catlin is an old underwater castle of a Squishier king lost to history. But after the breaking of the arm of dorne the waters receded out of the area turning the sea into a swamp then it was found by the first men and used as a castle lol
There's too much foreshadowing for there not to be a literal kraken involved, what I would like would be for Euron to summon one to attack their defense but Lord Hightower manage to use it against him. Obviously not to Eurons demise, he'll just wash back up ashore, you know, exactly where he wants to be.
Mankind being invited to study the hive mind culture species is a common sci-fi story that I wouldn’t be shocked to see George fit into this series. You have Avatar where the scientist who go to Pandora to study the Na’vi and their connection to their after life hive mind, Eywa, in order to understand it is replicated here. And there are humans who have opted in to downloading themselves into this hive mind. George does fantasy so well but he’s a sci-fi man at heart.
I absolutely love your videos dude. I got hooked with the bloodstone compendium and you keep pushing out great content. Gotta make my way over and donate
Isn't it interessting, that the Citadel send a Maester that studied the Arkane Arts to Winterfell, with the Starks being one of the most mythical houses? Who then tries to keep Bran down to the ground instead of helping him fly? And Maester Luwin wants to surpress Brans dreams with sweetsleep, even though he should know that warging is a thing, since he has that Valyrian Steel Chain. May be the Hightowers and the Citadel just tell everyone that magic is gone to keep the monopol on it... Like they keep the Glasscandles low key intentionally, so they can abuse it without anyone noticing... And yes, Sallera/Alleras and Marwin clearly abuse the Glasscandles...
So, completely unrelated to everything in this video: I think one day there will be a comic con type thing but it'll be called Jon Con and it'll be for sci-fi and fantasy writers. I dunno. Just something I thought of that I had to share.
Just from reading AFFC casually I got the impression that Leyton was actually just a pretentious shut in “ruling his city from the clouds” as a way of removing himself from the outside world, not deigning to come back down to the muck, like the people in the Eyrie. The world always looks so peaceful from high up... though Euron might have something to say about that.
1. Maybe Jaquen H'gaar is going to the Citadel to save some books because he already knew that Euron had been unleashed once he hired a Faceless Man to kill Baelon. I could see Sam playing a role in helping him. 2. Didn't the Squishers make their appearance in the Sisters when they rescued Davos Seaworth? All but confirmed IMHO.
Yes! I did a ton of stuff about George’s use of the tower tarot card in King Bran 3: The God on Earth. I think Euron’s experience at the top of the Hightower will mimic Brans tower experience in symbolic ways that are drawn from the Tower card :)
Not only were they kings when first appearing in history, but their name is the same as the only thing they were known for. It's as though they had no past before they built that tower. It's like if I showed up in town, opened a pizza spot and was like "Hi, I'm Bobby Pizzeria". You would immediately feel like all you knew for sure is that I made up my name.
@@DavidLightbringer It would be one thing if families were more commonly named after professions and landmarks, but even old families don't seem to have followed this naming convention.
I think what happened during the Long Night is that a group of Dragon Lords where sent to fight the White Walkers. That is why we have the "hero" show up in vastly distant lands at the same time. Further, it helps explain the height of the walls of both the Five Forts and the Wall. Having walls that high make no sense except for flying creatures. Another question that is never discussed is why was the Amethyst Empress before her brother as heir to the throne. Before her all of the heirs are male. It is not like the line could not have mentioned a female heir like the Dornish do. I have a feeling that the story of the Bloodstone Emperor is a case of the winner writing the story.
Everything you are saying makes total sense. An epic magic battle..I am not completely sold on because magic has always been more subtle but I definately agree that for Euron Oldtown would be the most logical place to take. I also was surprised that you did not mention Qyburn at all in your video. As an ex measter he is clearly putting his learnings from the Citidel to work in KL. The key to defeating Robert Strong will likely be there if anywhere, and anyone going up against Cersei will need to deal with the Mountain. It would not surprise me if Cersei makes a deal with the devil (Euron) and Euron defeats Robert Strong with something he learned in Old Town. Also, I wonder if there is a misdirect at the TOJ. Everyone is so focused on Arthur Dayne but I wonder if Gerold Hightower's presence there is significant other than being a Kingsguard?
Interesting idea about the Hightowers trying to marry into the Targs to bring an end to the dragons...Alicent and her father were key in fomenting the Dance, which we know trimmed the Targaryen family tree quite a bit as well as killing off most of the living dragons at that point in time. Interesting...we'll see what I turn up when I get to the Hightowers in my video series!
One thing that I have always wondered about is the 3 King’s Guard from the Tower of Joy. I believe they are in hiding / exile and the Hightowers along with other help facilitate this.
Here's some super insane, top tier Valyrian tinfoil: if Leyton Hightower is like Saruman, I could see Euron being like Sauron. He's a bit more on the chaos side than the Dark Lord, but Sauron was totally into at least portraying himself and his master Morgoth as gods, just like Euron wants to become. Sauron was a powerful magic user, like Euron is at least trying to be. Sauron also was extremely charismatic, capable of taking the most beautiful of forms before the destruction of Numenor, just like Euron has maxed out charisma. What if, when Euron comes to Oldtown he's juiced up on the blood magic ritual we all know he's going to try and Leyton, a known magic enthusiast, is super impressed by/terrified of Euron. There could be a pseudo-alliance between the Hightowers and Euron like Saruman had with Sauron in a desperate attemtp to not be trodden underfoot.
Even with the Iron Fleet, the Iron Men simply don't have the man-power to take the city. Any kind of blockade/ naval siege would be useless. Old town has more men, more supplies, much of the power of the Reach, friends nearby . . . just as much as men can't walk on water, ships can't swim over the land. These are strategic elements that Martin takes into account during the battles in his book. The result of this battle, I believe, will be more akin to what we saw with Stannis' shadow son killing Renly. But Old Man Hightower shouldn't be underestimated- he's been up in his tower for ten years (presumably practicing magic). Some crazy s*** is gonna go down. I'm tempted to say that too much symbolism and narrative building has gone into Euron's development for him to lose, but we've seen bigger upsets in ASOIAF. Whatever happens will be insane . . . Edit: but yes, I am also inclined to think that somehow Euron will take High Tower and do some really nasty things (I like the army of the deep theory presented here) . . . we're gonna see the rise of the Iron Men for a time before someone finally stomps it out.
In tarot tradionally the falling/blasting of a tower typically symbolizes a violent, sudden, and final end to some kind of reliance on old structure. Theres no way that this *isn't* a clue George wants us to pick up on!! I'm putting $20 on Euron will cause the Hightower to destruct somehow!! Will house Hightower survive?
It’s not necessarily the number of books required but the quantity of story left to tell. A Dance of Dragons and a Feast for Crows we’re actually supposed to be one book but it became to much so GRRM and his editors decided to split it up. At this point I’m hoping we at least get WoW but I highly doubt he completes the whole story.
The thing is, Moqorro knows what the Dragonbinder horn is about and that Victarion is being puppeteered by Euron etc, and he's still leading him to Dany and Meereen. If we are to believe that he's doing as the high priest asked and is helping Dany, then why would he let Euron get control of one of Dany's dragons? Just to add Victarion's help to the Meereen forces for the battle ahead? Seems like a steep price given it's bound to be a victory for Meereen anyway.
it's just so hard to say because we don't know what the horn does, if Moqorro is working with anyone, what Euron's intentions are in springing the trap against Vic, etc etc. We will just have to see
That horn should be called peoplebinder, not dragonbinder. Only thing it achieved is that it allowed Euron to win kingsmoot and mess with minds of all Ironborn, Victarion and Aeron included. Some time after that event, at the Shields, when Euron repeated his plan from kingsmoot to go Essos and get some dragons, Ironborn were much less cooperative and openly opposed it. So its much more possible that horn will bound slave armies than dragons
Possibly late to the boat here, but has anyone made the comparison between Oldtown of Westoros and Alexandria of ancient history? I'm thinking the Library of Alexandria (AKA The Citadel) and the Lighthouse of Alexandria (AKA the Hightower)?
Don’t forget, I’m the WOIAF the Hightower’s had a prophecy during Aegons Conquest that they would lose to the Targaryens if they ever went to war against them. We might see them make that mistake in the next two books
The Sistertons have a genetic trait of webbed hands. Dick Crabbe is from around there. He's the one that introduced us to the squishers myth. Maybe there's something to it.
I think the Hightowers low-key control most stuff. They have maesters penetrating every lordly house in Westeros. They are masters in magic, yet most maesters will turn a nose up to it upon mention. I love the mysteriousness GRRM has left wide open.
Leyton Hightower = FuSoYa for sure. Even if he does die at Euron's hand, I figure he has to have some sort of trick up his sleeve to try and mitigate the inevitable damage coming to Oldtown by way of the Battle of Blood and it's aftermath. But maybe that is just the optimist in me 🤷♂️
this is my guess - he'll lose to Euron, but put up a better fight than anyone thinks with some tricks up his sleeve Also I love that this dude has never even been seen on page and we are pitting him in a wizard battle, lol
Is the Hightower on the water? Because Euron can sail directly to the tower without fighting on the streets if that is the case. The Ironborns are definitely not going to win the street battle against 10000 well-prepared armoured soldiers and knights.
Now I don't trust Marwin, if the Masters killed the Dragons then I want him as far from my Dragon Queen as possible unless he's there 2 teach her how 2 control her children.
House Hightower has always intrigued me. I think they’ll play a big part in TWOW. Btw I hope Garlan Tyrell personally kicks Euron Greyjoy’s ass and Leyton Hightower brings back the dead to defeat the ironborn. Just my two cents 🤷🏻♂️
Garlan Tyrell i too would like to see some Garlan content, especially him layingn the hurt to people but I'd imagine Euron is probably too wise to take him on head to head. Unless he does some sort of weird apotheosis buff and gets emboldended
Garland will most likely take him on land and in such case he will win. Ironborns cannot win pitched battles on land, especially when they have no cavalry, and probably no pikes (which are not common weapon for pirates).
I love LML's theory about Melora Hightower being the sorceress that teams up with Euron. I also wonder if she hasn't already seen what's coming, and I think there's a chance she could turn on her father---not unlike the mythological Medea, whose name sounds a bit like Melora's nickname, the Mad Maid.
That quote when he closed the ports, saved the city, and the was dragged and beaten from is horse as a thank you is pretty fitting for today. Do the masses really have no idea what's best themselves? Story & reality.
"From a smoking tower, a great stone beast took wing, breathing shadow fire" Doing a re-read of all of them because after watching some of your vids plus discovering the wide world of asoiaf nuts online, I thought the symbolism would really come out. This quote, as I'm sure you know, from aCoK's and Dany's HotU vision, is probably symbolism right? But when I read it, I immediately thought of the Hightower, specifically the bottom black stone portion that you've covered a ton. Could this be what awaits in Oldtown at the Hightower? If we're talking literal interpretations, which is probably not the case, I can only think of the "smoking tower" being the Hightower or a place near Asshai. Would love to hear your thoughts!
usually there's both a literal and symbolic layer to such a line... and yeah I tend to think this is about Euron performing an abomination atop the Hightower
Not sure if it's been discussed, but are there differences between what is spoken about with the selkies and merlings on the West coast of Westeros vs. the ones off the Eastern shore (The Sisters area/stories in Brienne's chapters)? All the same or possible differences in motivations/breeding with humans?
im watching this for the second time and im thinking, towers in myth represent the summer solstice, so by taking the tower euron is setting in motion the events that lead to winter. when combined with the possible grey scale epidemic we could see a future where westeros is metaphorically plunged into autumn with disease wide spread only to be met by a physical incarnation of absolute death without the strength to resist it by force. additionally malora hightower could be euron's last victim like Danae and Ethniu she's a virgin in a tower and within the story we have lyanna who dies in childbirth atop a tower. effectively we could be seeing the turning point where euron preforms magic so inhumane that it transforms him permanently. of course the easiest way to find out if this is the truth is to analyze the tower of joy. the tower of joy being a metaphor for the mithraic summer sacrifice or "tauroctony" had several characters associated with tauroctony a bull, a serpent(dayne), a dog (direwolf), a raven(bat of whent). this, if true, would imply modern analogs in the high tower. We have sam tarly(tarv being irish for bull), Sarella as the serpent, now all we need is a dog and a raven.
This is kind of off topic, but I have a theory that I'm hoping you'll discuss when you get around to making a video about the Others. My theory is that the Others are not a threat, or at least not yet. Remember, in the prologue they only went after Waymar Royce, and only because they thought he was a Stark. In Storm they attack the Night's Watch, likely because they pose a threat. However, for the most part they seem to be leaving people alone. They could have easily wiped out the Wildlings long before they're allowed to pass the Wall. And, why are they taking so long to attack the Wall? I'm guessing that Euron is somehow going to become their leader and that's when they become a threat.
they def seem to be waiting for something.. I have wondered if it was Jon's death, and if they will come to claim him as their own. Red comet comes back to crush the Wall? That's a possibility. Other one is Euron, agree.
Lucifer means Lightbringer if Jon is taken by the others and made one would that really jive with Jon’s character? That would be a complete 180 to what Jon has been up to now.
Think we'll ever get the oily black stone answer? Know George doesn't like unraveling mysteries rightly so but just this one little gift to the fandom please
Is the Old Man alive or is somebody else (probably not his heir) giving orders in his name? For that matter, is the Old Man somewhere else, incognito? Who is the mad maid? A descendant of Maggi the Frog? Perhaps even Jane Westerling?
A bit of an off topic question but isn't it safe to assume that the maester know how to make Valyrian steel given that they put links of it in their maester chains
I like to picture old Valeria like the Flintstones. Guy pulls a rope and a dragon breathes fire to power the forge, then it turns and shrugs and says "its a living".

But what I find really ironic is that the citidel has this mysterious magical past but the men that run it now are trying to squish all traces of magic and refuse to teach it and keep it totally under wraps even though in the past it seemed to be the heart of magic in westeros...
not magic was fading from the world. it have been the magicans who had been disappearing. and the citadel is not innocent.
Ironborns are not going to beat 10000 Hightower garrisons once they get off their ships. And Garland is coming, on land.
GRRM did say it's not going to end in the way we expect fantasies to end.
very cool thought - maybe an icy Asshai, if Winter gets all the way down there? though i have thought GRRM is more referring to a pact with the Others. even still, Asshai-Oldtown can happen in that future too
Going crazy from this Corona stuff. Thank you LML and Quinn
No but seriously, everyone in Oldtown is probably going to die, we have to see all these big fleets and armies that are left get mauled so there's less resources for when its important.
yep you're smelling the same ting we are, a burning city. I bet you enjoyed the Saruman humor ay
dragon bone is black by nature.
@@DavidLightbringer Yepp, either by Dragon or just plain old fire, its burning. And Euron will take everybody left alive for thralls. All Hail the new and improved Nights King, Mr Euron Greyjoy. Keep up the amazing work!
@@anne-kathrinhohlig1466 Good shout
Look forward to see what comes from this near unprecedented level of involvement from House Hightower.
exactly, and it really feels like GRRM has built up the Hightowers a lot in the supplementary material of late, does it not?
This has to be one of the biggest WILD CARD plot lines for tWOW, so excited!
Assuming Luwin's blood was absorbed by the tree, I'd be curious what if anything Bran could learn from it.
bran isnt that powerfull wonder child from fantasy. and bran is very dark grey.
I'm not sure what you mean by that but I was simply referring to his new ability to enter weirwoods. If Luwin's lifeblood was absorbed by the tree, presumably Bran could access it as he hones his craft.
@@ashleyofnaath which knowledge? how the grey rats had orchestrated the summerhall incident? how to kill dragons and stop to hatch new ones?

"Everyone is sleeping on Lord Leyton" BRUH the Hightower have kept to themselves for too long, I for one look forward to see what's up with them! They've been hyped, now we need to _see_ how up to their reputation they are.
Perhaps Lord Hightower himself has some sickness, perhaps even Greyscale! He is there since 10 years... must be around the same time little Shireen (Born in 289 AC) got Greyscale too
I want a full blown, fantasy magic battle between Leyton Hightower and Euron, where they're throwing force field balls one after the other, till one of them dies.
Unpopular opinion:
Euron won't set foot in old town at all.
Love the idea of a wizard in his tower going over old books for days on end very cool.
Glad you guys covered this; taking on the whole mystical and mythologised parts of the series again reminds me of the podcasts you did years ago lol. Thanks kings!
yeah we used to do some pretty trippy ass deep lore explorations huh
Those old podcasts of the two of them discussing clues and signs are my absolute favorite asoiaf vids ever
Sio Goat The “animals as leaders days☄️🎶” were wonderful if thats kind of the era you’re referring to. It’s what intrigued me so much to start but all the new stuff is great too. I still continue to really enjoy the passion and depth of asoiaf analysis from LmL. Quinn too!
My bet is that Leyton will try to fight Euron with magic and he'll probably die in a couple of seconds because he didn't actually learn shit about magic.
his last line: "oh"
He isn't as powerful as he wants others to think he is
Don't forget that on land the Ironborns are a joke
I love this series and I look forward to these videos everyday! I can't wait for the Jaime, Brienne, and Stoneheart plotline. Also, the Sansa, Littlefinger, and Harry the heir plotline. I hope these will be getting videos?
Fun conspiracy theory Moat Catlin is an old underwater castle of a Squishier king lost to history. But after the breaking of the arm of dorne the waters receded out of the area turning the sea into a swamp then it was found by the first men and used as a castle lol
I love this
There's too much foreshadowing for there not to be a literal kraken involved, what I would like would be for Euron to summon one to attack their defense but Lord Hightower manage to use it against him. Obviously not to Eurons demise, he'll just wash back up ashore, you know, exactly where he wants to be.
I'm loving these latest videos ! I've forgotten so many of the plots, this has reminded me about them
Mankind being invited to study the hive mind culture species is a common sci-fi story that I wouldn’t be shocked to see George fit into this series.
Have we considered, that maybe Lord Hightower and Euron might be playing for the same Magical team?
Okay, this would be a nice twist!
Sphinxes- maybe a forgotten symbol of all the animals a skin changer can "warg" ??
I absolutely love your videos dude. I got hooked with the bloodstone compendium and you keep pushing out great content. Gotta make my way over and donate
thanks Anthony! I have fun making them :)
I really hope George put as much thought into the lore as you guys do lol
Should add Velaryon to your mysterious house list I think.
Swisher tacos!!🌮🌮🌮
I love the idea of Euron winding up in a corner making nonsensical noises bc he has lost his mind from what he has seen.
knew you'd love the last section heh heh
Great work from you and Quinn🌮🌮🌮
So, completely unrelated to everything in this video: I think one day there will be a comic con type thing but it'll be called Jon Con and it'll be for sci-fi and fantasy writers. I dunno. Just something I thought of that I had to share.
Ya I love calling him "JonCon" now
Euron’s soy magic isn’t gonna do shit when Leyton Chadtower summons the Drowned god to clap him
Could the Hightower area be like Avalon? Or some other place of Arthurian legend? Uthor of the Hightower...Uther Pendragon.
I'm gonna get into all that stuff a lot more with my Great EMpire of the Dawn videos. P2 will be all Hightowers and Daynes!
All but confirmed IMHO.
gosh that's awfully hopeful.. I'd LOVE to root for the FM as book-savers, awesome

Wasn't Jaqen H'ghar the alchemist at the prologue of AFFC and most probably posing as Pate by the time Sam reached the citadel?
The Tower has strong meaning in Tarot. I'm willing to bet that Euron smashing the Hightower will mark the beginning of the Long Night.
Yes! I did a ton of stuff about George’s use of the tower tarot card in King Bran 3: The God on Earth. I think Euron’s experience at the top of the Hightower will mimic Brans tower experience in symbolic ways that are drawn from the Tower card :)
Branden the builder was a busy man
Not only were they kings when first appearing in history, but their name is the same as the only thing they were known for. It's as though they had no past before they built that tower. It's like if I showed up in town, opened a pizza spot and was like "Hi, I'm Bobby Pizzeria". You would immediately feel like all you knew for sure is that I made up my name.
I like this logic
@@DavidLightbringer It would be one thing if families were more commonly named after professions and landmarks, but even old families don't seem to have followed this naming convention.
@@DavidLightbringer I think they were expatriates from the Empire of the Dawn. Or maybe the small folk under those Expatriates who revolted.
Euron himself will transform into a massive sea beast!
I really want to see Euron summon a kraken. GRRM has this nice little theme going of people’s sigils reappearing after years of absence....👀
the only thing better then your individual ASOIAF videos are when you two get together. Keep these coming! I love it!
Interesting idea about the Hightowers trying to marry into the Targs to bring an end to the dragons...Alicent and her father were key in fomenting the Dance, which we know trimmed the Targaryen family tree quite a bit as well as killing off most of the living dragons at that point in time. Interesting...we'll see what I turn up when I get to the Hightowers in my video series!
you guys should do one of these with robert from in deep geek
Oh, my gods, yes, please! You three would be great together.
Have really enjoyed these videos. Can see the hard work put into them, thank you and keep it up!
What's west of Westeros? The Kingdom of the Merling King.
Random Squish Event is coming
Great series guys!
someone else said this too, these daily videos are spoiling me...i love it!🤗
Does anyone else ever think that George has too many plot threads to wrap up in 2 novels?
I suspect a 3rd would be required.
I believe it’s come up in discussion, sure. Mostly in context of an upcoming library of Alexandria type burning disaster
@@DavidLightbringer Thanks LML. Figured it would have been brought up at some point.
These daily videos are spoiling me.
Don’t forget, I’m the WOIAF the Hightower’s had a prophecy during Aegons Conquest that they would lose to the Targaryens if they ever went to war against them. We might see them make that mistake in the next two books
I just realised that Baelor and Humfrey were two of Ser Duncan's 7. Coincidence or just a playful nod?
hmmmm... (strokes Saruman beard)
and rhaegar is also refered to a baelor as well. and to (house) mudd as well.
Idk how I missed this one. But this is very interesting. Now I’m going to go on a tangent with the Hightowers.
The Old Man of Hightown is maybe 10% Wizard, 90% Howard Hughes. I bet he got a spruce goose.
Has anyone considered the oily stone might just be lead? The pliable, oily stone that corrupts all the life around it?
Leyton Hightower = FuSoYa for sure. Even if he does die at Euron's hand, I figure he has to have some sort of trick up his sleeve to try and mitigate the inevitable damage coming to Oldtown by way of the Battle of Blood and it's aftermath. But maybe that is just the optimist in me 🤷♂️
this is my guess - he'll lose to Euron, but put up a better fight than anyone thinks with some tricks up his sleeve
Also I love that this dude has never even been seen on page and we are pitting him in a wizard battle, lol
Lucifer means Lightbringer the heart wants what it wants 😎
Is the Hightower on the water? Because Euron can sail directly to the tower without fighting on the streets if that is the case. The Ironborns are definitely not going to win the street battle against 10000 well-prepared armoured soldiers and knights.
Now I don't trust Marwin, if the Masters killed the Dragons then I want him as far from my Dragon Queen as possible unless he's there 2 teach her how 2 control her children.
Marwin is written as a rouge Maester. One of the few remaining Maesters who believed and delves in Magic
The music at the beginning reminds me of "Echoes" from Pink Floyd.
Acid Trip I’m glad somebody hear knows good music❤️❤️
I’ve always been really interested in the boltons too, they seem very mysterious to me as well.
Big Star true that man. Euron is crazy as hell
Yo I LOVE the squishers. Probably one of my favorite random tid bits in the books.
That quote when he closed the ports, saved the city, and the was dragged and beaten from is horse as a thank you is pretty fitting for today. Do the masses really have no idea what's best themselves? Story & reality.
"From a smoking tower, a great stone beast took wing, breathing shadow fire"
Doing a re-read of all of them because after watching some of your vids plus discovering the wide world of asoiaf nuts online, I thought the symbolism would really come out.
@@DavidLightbringer Could there be "shadow" dragons, as there are/were/may be "Ice" dragons? Or perhaps a different creature.
You guys got a real synergy going!
this puts the intrigue back in my soul for asoiaf. ty ly
Perhaps even Jane Westerling?
i always tought of the black oily stone to be anthracite or anthracite coal! very interesting....🖤❤️🔥
A bit of an off topic question but isn't it safe to assume that the maester know how to make Valyrian steel given that they put links of it in their maester chains
That Primus banner though... I'd totally rally to House Primus
