Yeah if any show deserves a release it’s those. We’ve gotten some legacy shows (albeit not by BB/BCS’ studio Sony) on 4K recently, that being the Sopranos and Friends. A 4K Blu ray of BB/BCS would look amazing
I remember that psych had a terrible DVD release like this, with no option of a blu-ray. It got so many complaints that when the blu-ray was eventually released, it had all the seasons separated. Complaining does work!
The 2018 DVD release of the complete series of Fraggle Rock has all 12 discs stacked on a single cheap, flimsy spindle. I took matters into my own hands and ordered two 6-disc Blu-ray cases (DVD cases would have been just a little too tall to fit in the cardboard sleeve) so each disc has its own spindle, and even printed off covers to label the cases. It’s so much more practical than the original packaging.
As a fellow Blu-ray collector, what i usually do to line up the labels (it's not just a you problem, promise) is to open the box up, stand it up like a book, which should cause the thin outer-plastic layer to flex outwards enough to grasp the cover sheet between your thumb and forefinger (grab it by the spine) and line that up, then slowly close it while checking if either side is misaligned, making tiny adjustments as you go. It does get easier as you get the hang of it, and I'm thankful for that, cause almost every new movie or show i get on BR has a slightly misaligned cover lmao drives me crazy
Breaking Bad just makes me feel gross. I love it, but it really makes you feel like you need a hot shower. Plus Jane’s death traumatized me into being a side sleeper, so there’s that. At least BCS feels funny and charismatic, and I don’t need to scrub my pores after each episode.

Fun fact!!! In 2018, there was a box set for Breaking Bad released in the UK (and some other places I believe) and it's one of the best box sets ever! There are 3 seperate individual cases, housing seasons 1 + 2, 3 + 4 and 5a and 5b respectfully, with a bonus disc on top! Instead of being housed in those terrible spindles or clunky disc holders, the 2018 set has easy to use disc holders for each individual disc! I've been rewatching Breaking Bad through this set for my third watchthrough of the show, and I've had no issues whatsoever!
Nicely made video. The Scott the Woz influence is very clear but I'll give you a lot of credit for making a full video on an ultra-specific topic very entertaining. Reminds me of Kid Leaves Stoop's work such as his Simpsons DVD video.
I completely agree that if you love a show or a movie you should buy it physically because you never know when a streaming service is going to stop streaming your favorite shows/movies.
The true villain of this video is the maker of these spindle cases. They’re called “Epik Pak” cases and they’ve been infecting physical media releases in the last few years. What’s most frustrating personally is that they’re DVD shaped, meaning they stand up over normal Blu-ray cases, and depending on your shelf configuration, may not even fit. On the other hand, Gravity Falls’s complete series was published by Shout Factory, a company that puts love and care into the artwork and packaging of its releases.
I hate those case so much. I got Outer Limits and it comes in one of those abominable cases. I’ll take my chances with individual regular cases if only because I can stack them up when I need to.
This is why I bought all of my Better Call Saul Blu Ray sets in their separate individual releases, that actually contain their original seasons artworks, and aren't a pain the ass the remove the discs
there's another version of the breaking bad complete series set, but instead of a box, it's a barrel. it has cool features, including magnets and a los pollos hermanos cooking apron. my only gripe with it is how they formatted the discs. each disc holder can be detached on accident, and its really easy to misplace where each disc belongs. it's a cool concept, but the execution is mid
I’ll never get buying digital copies. Usually the physical copies still come with digital codes so you get the physical and digital edition for about the same price as just the digital version
Honestly if I were in your shoes I'd just purchase some generic empty Blu Ray cases (which you can get for quite cheap) and print out the individual season boxart (which you can find online pretty easily) and make my own cases for each season. Might be a bit of a pain in the ass to do and probably wont look or feel as good as the official thing but its better than risking damaging the discs everytime you wanna watch the show.
I just got done watching this show a few days ago. It's so good. The action acting cinematography. All those unique camera shots . And the stories are all top-notch . I watched the entire show in 4 days, lol

I'm surprised the US version of this boxset didn't just use the standard Blu Ray cases for each season and put them in a bigger box. That's basically what we got in Australia and I prefer it
I've seen so much of this lately. I almost bought a box set of Justified the other day . . . then realized all 19 discs were stacked on a SINGLE SPINDLE down the middle of the box. I'm increasingly convinced companies are doing this on purpose not just to save money on packaging, but to insure your discs eventually get scratched so you'll have to spend more money again later.
My Twilight Zone box set was like this. I finally just ordered a CD book, put the discs in there and kept the box for display and so I’d have the episode info handy.

tbf the first season and a half can sort of stand by themselves but once Hector and the cartel show up it gets tough to understand everything without Breaking Bad
@@audiovisualcringeeh, my sister watched through the first 5 seasons of Saul before Breaking Bad, and she never clocked that any of the cartel characters were from Breaking Bad. Sure, they had grandiose and enigmatic introductions (even though they were doing ordinary stuff within the scene), but so did Lalo, and he’s not from Breaking Bad. She just instantly understood that these new players were going to change the course of the story in some big way.
3:30 that's the whole point tho, Better Call Saul's vibe with the intros and the first scene of the show is basically watching Saul going throught his memories on a VHS tape, since he misses those times, and as the show goes on, the more fucked up and corrupted the VHS intros become losing its color, until in season 6 where its just black and white and it breaks mid-intro, symbolising Jimmy (or Saul's) descend into madness and depression
wow that was a very fun video, since you liked BCS, I would HIGHLY recommend you watch Mr Robot, its a bit darker, but just as engrossing and well written, coming from someone who has BCS as one of his fav shows. P.S- if you do watch it, dont drop it at the 2nd season, its the slowest season but its still very good
I'm so glad I have the individual season blurays for breaking bad and better call saul. Much better art and much better packaging (although there is some disc stacking for second half of the series. No more than 2 discs in each tray at least)
If I had the money to buy the Better Call Saul box, first thing I would do would be creating a digital copy of everything in case I break one of the discs. Number two would be buying single cases and making my own arts. Yes, a lot of money and time spent. But it would be fun, and worthy at the end.
If you want to see a blu ray boxset go the extra mile, then check out the collection sets for the Classic seasons of Doctor Who. The standard editions are solid enough, but the limited editions are on a whole other level.
I feel the pain of feeling like you're going to break the disks every time you take them out with my season 1 boxset of the show Fringe. The other 4 seasons have the kind of spindles you push down on, but season 1 has these awful ones that have lines that make it look like it should push in but just doesn't
If it makes you feel any better, at least you're not dealing (it doesn't seem here) with those that have 3 discs stacked on each mini-spindle; I have that in many of my copies of all-in-one (complete series) DVD releases from CBS Home Entertainment, such as Have Gun Will Travel, The Untouchables, Hogan's Heroes and The Streets of San Francisco (I also have it in my copy of the all-in-one of Emergency! from Universal [SDS]).
I currently live in Australia and I have bought the Australian copy of better call Saul on Blu-ray and the box set is just a collection of the prior released seasons covers and all just stored in a single cardboard box and best of all each disk has its own spindle to say the least Australia knows what its doing with there box set releases much more than america. p.s great video really enjoyed it as it had mentioned issues that i still face in my own personal collection. Keep it up.
In my experience, stacked discs aren't actually touching each other unless you press down on them. Much better than cardboard pocket sleeves. Also, I've never seen anybody use both hands to remove discs from spindles. Thumb pressed into spindle and pull up the edge of disc with first two fingers of the same hand. I have hundreds of DVDs and Blu-rays with all kinds of different cases and have yet to have that not work each one easily. I even have small hands and have never had a problem doing it that way.
First of all: love the use of the Wii food delivery channel soundtrack. Second, there’s actually a dvd set of BCS that has the individual cases in a cardboard sleeve, so theoretically you could get the blu-rays, get that set, and swap the dvds. Probably costs more money and time than it’s worth though.
6:40 I definitely agree with that point about never taking the cover sleeve out. I’ve got a baby niece who does that all the time with Nintendo Switch game cases, and I can never put them back in the same way they were
This was a great review you Chad! Immediate subscribe, too hilarious haha. Though, this set does upset me, especially the cover art, it’s just odd and the least artistic choices they could’ve made from a series with so many gorgeous moments and promotional art, they had a goldmine. It’s kinda absurd we didn’t get an additional disk with the entire first season of Slippin’ Jimmy, what a letdown…
Based af for watching both "Better Call Saul" & "Gravity Falls" all the way through, especially for owning the box set for the latter. I wish it were still being manufactured.
12:00 - Well actually, Digital has the highest chance to last forever, because I can pirate it for free anytime, own it, and back it up to several drives. Whereas, if I buy discs with shitty containment, eventually they'll get scratched up enough they might start fucking up. Digital is also far faster to load up, and doesn't take up even more space on my shelves; as much as I am nostalgic for physical media and the presentation of it...
You’re not accounting for the fact that pirating websites can get taken down at any point and downloading them has a very real risk of giving your computer viruses, and if you have an anti virus software it often physically won’t let you download suspicious media in the first place. Physical media is actually **yours** forever, you are the only person who actually owns it. You can get a disc binder for like 3 dollars to limit the amount of shelf space you use, and so long as you don’t treat them like shit they probably won’t get scratched and even if they do, you can get a disc cleaner for 8 dollars or cheaper. I feel like spending 10 extra dollars to maintain discs is worth it over potentially ruining my computer or phone downloading speed racer on a suspicious pirating website with titties in the corners.
Hell yeah, new BellhopDrew! Video! Lots of exclamation points! Editing is top spindle on this one, 'nuff said. I do hope the captioner is able to recover after that brutal triple assassination by Los Pollos Hermanos hitmen. Was truly the saddest part of any BhD! episode so far.

P.S- if you do watch it, dont drop it at the 2nd season, its the slowest season but its still very good
Looking at this monster of a boxset makes me grateful that i brought the seasons separately.
I'm so glad I have the individual season blurays for breaking bad and better call saul. Much better art and much better packaging (although there is some disc stacking for second half of the series. No more than 2 discs in each tray at least)
Two things: Breaking Bad Box set I have is the same thing, "Hey all! Not Scott here!"
Thanks for making this video, when I got this box set I was so annoyed by the packaging i HATE stacked discs
The Australian version of the box set is just the box but with all the seasons in their own individual cases with the original covers
If I had the money to buy the Better Call Saul box, first thing I would do would be creating a digital copy of everything in case I break one of the discs.
Number two would be buying single cases and making my own arts.
Yes, a lot of money and time spent. But it would be fun, and worthy at the end.
I’m only 3 seconds in and I’ve already subbed this so good!
@@KezKaz thanks so much!
Watching this on 2x speed is how the director intended, trust me
If you want to see a blu ray boxset go the extra mile, then check out the collection sets for the Classic seasons of Doctor Who. The standard editions are solid enough, but the limited editions are on a whole other level.
I have the box sets for Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, even tho I only got into the series this past summer. So i relate to this a lot lmao
I even have small hands and have never had a problem doing it that way.
you're so scott the woz coded, subscribed
For sure buy physical media. All the movies I bought on google TV (now just youtube) have been capped at 480p for some reason
This was such a great video! It almost makes me forgot what you said about Breaking Bad :D
Extremely entertaining video!
6:40 I definitely agree with that point about never taking the cover sleeve out. I’ve got a baby niece who does that all the time with Nintendo Switch game cases, and I can never put them back in the same way they were
I'm tired of people sleeping on how good the Speed Racer movie is
@@DrawpinionDump it's PEAK
I had Season 1-3 on Blu Ray but then i saw how expensive the rest series is and i was forced to buy the complete box set, yaay
glad to see this at the same time as everyone else, thanks algorithm
@@thermometerman1824 i too am thanking the algorithm
This was a great review you Chad! Immediate subscribe, too hilarious haha. Though, this set does upset me, especially the cover art, it’s just odd and the least artistic choices they could’ve made from a series with so many gorgeous moments and promotional art, they had a goldmine.
It’s kinda absurd we didn’t get an additional disk with the entire first season of Slippin’ Jimmy, what a letdown…
Based af for watching both "Better Call Saul" & "Gravity Falls" all the way through, especially for owning the box set for the latter. I wish it were still being manufactured.
one of the releases of S1 came with a cardboard record for the theme
man I'm lucky all my favourite things have good disc storage designs
Yeah you have it forever until disk rot sets in
Disc rot only happens if you leave it in harsh sunlight or it was a Manufacturing mistake. You do have it forever
@@kodekopelli he'll be fine i hope
Come back tomorrow there will be a surprise
3:15 NICKY FREACKING DEUCE!!!
This video is incredibly well made. Excellent work.
However, I do feel like there was missed opportunity to acknowledge what they seemed to be going for with the box art by skipping over the Season 4 key art during that showcase section.
The twins peaks boxset is exactly like this it fucking sucks I've only watched two episodes of twins peaks because I don't wanna break the discs taking them out
@@DudleyKetsukane i feel your great pain
@@BellhopDrew atleast I got a boxset of better call saul seasons 1-5 that's just the individual dvds in a cardboard case with season a copy of season six I bought separately
Watch the rest of the show but get a different case. I scratched my discs with how many times I took them out
Grateful to jackfilms for providing an awesome channel
It is fun seeing somebody experience the trashiest way for a dvd box set.
Better call saul is never leaving netflix
