It’s a toss between dmc5 and dmc3:se for Vergil (especially on DMD mode) imo. Vergils random stinger in dmc3 on harder difficulties was nuts to deal with, especially if he did it up close for no reason
It's always fun to go back and watch boss fights with other people playing so you can listen to the music. When you're in the fight it's really hard to appreciate music a lot of times.
I battled Raphael in my play-through of BG3. I played with two friends on couch the whole campaign. We decided to fight him and wow what a challenge. It was the most satisfying boss battle. I also ended up a squid at the end of the campaign. What a game.
I would’ve given Dettlaff from The Witcher 3 Blood and Wine a shout. The presentation of a higher Vampire’s true form was incredible. Not some glittery beauty but an eldritch God, a being far beyond your comprehension. If you played on Deathmatch difficulty, he could one shot you pretty easily, making him difficult as well. In that same light, Blood of Dawnwalker looks super intriguing.
I just beat Malenia by myself for the first time, earlier today. Beat her before with friends, but doing it solo was a whole other type of joy. Only took 3 attempts too! Dual wielding dragon communion seals with dragonmaw, golden vow, lord's healing, and the mimic ashes.
i was almost proud of you until i read "mimic ashes" .. gotta solo her without ashes, it's an insanely different experience. It's so worth it :D I believe in you!
@DarkKaladin oh im definitely not doing that 🤣 maybe in a ng+ and im not so squishy. If i get hit in that flurry attack, im dead. Even got vigor at 60 and the great rune that increases health, the talisman that greatly increases health, golden vow and black flames protection, and the +resistances tear in the physick
Yes I love that Super Metroid ending. Great storytelling for a Super Nintendo game. A few stages before, the baby Metroid tries to drain from Samus realizes who it is and runs away then when all hope is almost lost during the final battle with Mother Brain, the baby Metroid bursts in drains Mother Brain of her power and sacrifices itself for Samus. But the power it drained from Mother brain empowers Samus, letting her defeats Mother Brain in an epic fashion
I would mention Ninetails from Okami. He is the ONLY enemy in the game that can mimic Ammy’s celestial brush and it’s wild the first time you pull up the brush and see a second one appear on the screen. I feel like Okami still gets overlooked so i’m over the moon we’re getting a sequel.
Special Mentions: - Valkyrie Bosses in the remake of God of War 2018/Ragnarok - The Ashtray Maze from Control (kinda a boss... it's a major setpiece and the "Boss" is just a massive number of enemies. And top it off with a KILLER soundtrack by Old gods of Asgard "Take Control"). I've played the entire game REPEATEDLY to play this section. - Fighting Orochi from Okami - Lavos from Chronotrigger (The real boss isn't the big spikey thing in the center)
Jake your vids and rankings that you make are still entertaining! Even if the title is clickbaity, ik im still going to get cool epic moments and ur summaries always helps
Ah Rafael, the reason why I haven't played BG3 for almost a year. Rushed and save-scummed through this area (after stupidly ignoring the warning before entering) and got absolutely trounced every time I attempted him. All my fault, obviously, and now I just have to find the time to restart hours earlier before entering his world.
Gannon's final form from Ocarina of Time is a little less impressive, once you realize that he only has two attacks that can both be blocked; a horizontal slash and a vertical slash.
Mother Brain on NES: Stationary boss that you shoot missiles at while dodging particles. Mother Brain on SNES: Stationary boss that you…holy sh*t!! she’s got a whole body and she’s coming after you-!!! 🤯
For Infinite Wealth, I find Jo Amon (Yokohama Dungeon) harder than Robo Michio rangers. If you take down his 3 subordinates first, he can revive them and you have to fight them again.
I would personally put Nemesis over Hyperion, that fight was mind-blowing, also beating Sam on revengeance difficulty was one of the most satisfying experiences of my gaming life
I loved and hated the fights in Shadow of the Colossus, only because at the end of the game, you feel bad for what you just did to these creatures. What a great game.
As a die hard from soft fan, Hyperion is up there with the likes of malenia and isshin when it comes to the experience as a whole. I wanted to die just to experience again the climb up the wall as the music builds just for it to DROP as soon as Hyperion is revealed
Malenia is hard only because she break common player gameplay, which is 'exchanging hit'. Since you have estus, it's natural you'll play like that, but Malenia lifesteal hit negates all that.
Regarding Sifu. I completely forgot how I defeated the final boss. I managed to beat him once and replayed the game later only to get my ass kicked constantly by him.
I've never understood the hype with Malenia. She was so hyped I expected to be violated from butt to throat, but then I beat her in 4 tries I was so disappointed.....I've been an avid souls gamer....suffered from success
The Kronos fight was peak GOW. I miss that old formula. Now it's got us skipping rocks with a little black girl who's a giant but not giant, cause character development or something.
MIGHT BE OUR LONGEST VIDEO YET? thanks for watching
@@gameranxTV amazing
Do another one please I’ll give you a Like
Thanks for posting
Gotta go replay shadow of the colossus
Thank you for making this video
The Electrocutioner boss battle in Batman Arkham Origins is Epic.
Ahh yes, the "before you die" series.
Not having ANY vergil on here is actually crazy. The quintessential “you, but better” boss. The epitome of a “rival” character
How is vergil in dmc5 not mentioned, That's like the best boss fight in action game ever!!!
Soooo true. You zone out and block out everything. Even your Mom calling you dinner is ready. Then have to tell her there is no pause. Lol
What I love the most in Ashuras Wrath is that you can skip any dialog by punching the other person in the face.
I think the Titan Eikon battle from FF16 deserves a spot here. It's just such an epic spectacle in a game with a lot of spectacular boss fights.
This was number one on my list
I battled Raphael in my play-through of BG3. I played with two friends on couch the whole campaign. We decided to fight him and wow what a challenge. It was the most satisfying boss battle. I also ended up a squid at the end of the campaign. What a game.

Didn't expect 2 videos in 1 day
Yea they get a little nasty every now and then and post more than once in a day
More than 1 gameranx video a day is always a good surprise
And neither are about the Switch 2!
I just beat Malenia by myself for the first time, earlier today. Beat her before with friends, but doing it solo was a whole other type of joy. Only took 3 attempts too! Dual wielding dragon communion seals with dragonmaw, golden vow, lord's healing, and the mimic ashes.

Sword Saint Isshin not being here is insane
Psycho mantis blew my mind as a kid. I dont care what they say. BEST boss fight ever!
Ludwig has such a badass theme. Nice Video!
Getting my daily fix of Gameranx while at work is the highlight of my day
Isshin, the Sword Saint should've been here.
criminal behaviour
Glock Saint Isshin should've definitely been on here
Metroid was definitely a must. I understood, and it stuck with me this whole time! One of my earliest memories. Beautiful.
Hades on the surface in Hades was awesome
Elden ring bosses with berserk hunter x hunter and bleach ost is one of the most awesome things i ever done
Cool list. I would add Fatalis, from Monster Hunter World.
Lunch time and gameranx 😌
Anything from armored core 3, 4 or for answer. That and the final boss of splatoon 1. that music kickin in is just awesome
There better be remnent 2's annihilation fight in this list. Or ill just keep watching daily
2 videos in a day. Respect. Both are entertaining.
Oh psycho mantis, i rember him well on my Playstation.
The Vader Fight in Jedi Survivor, actually that whole ending segment is pretty impressive even if you're not a Star wars fan.
This was a cool video. Great list!
Special Mentions:
- Valkyrie Bosses in the remake of God of War 2018/Ragnarok
- The Ashtray Maze from Control (kinda a boss... it's a major setpiece and the "Boss" is just a massive number of enemies. And top it off with a KILLER soundtrack by Old gods of Asgard "Take Control"). I've played the entire game REPEATEDLY to play this section.

Jake your vids and rankings that you make are still entertaining! Even if the title is clickbaity, ik im still going to get cool epic moments and ur summaries always helps
Dhaka from PoP Warrior Within. Not the most difficult, but considering you ran from him the whole game it deserves to be in a list like this.
The first boss from NieR Automata. It was amazing. The Elder Naytiba final boss from Stellar Blade was awesome too. Titan from Final Fantasy 16.
Cynthia could have been a cool addition to this list as the best boss in the Pokémon series imo
I really appreciate seeing Super Metroid this high up
Original Prince Of Persia boss fight felt legendary
Number 10 made me start BG3 again! I loved that fight, it was, IMO, the best fight in the game.
Love the video Jake!!
Two videos in one day
Sir, YOU ARE AMAZING 🎉🎉
Thank you so much
Ah Rafael, the reason why I haven't played BG3 for almost a year. Rushed and save-scummed through this area (after stupidly ignoring the warning before entering) and got absolutely trounced every time I attempted him. All my fault, obviously, and now I just have to find the time to restart hours earlier before entering his world.
Haven't watched it yet but way to have me question my own mortality on a Thursday
Gannon's final form from Ocarina of Time is a little less impressive, once you realize that he only has two attacks that can both be blocked; a horizontal slash and a vertical slash.
2 gameranx videos in one day? Jake, falcon... You guys are spoiling me
God of war 3 and metal gear revengence still hold up and it’s wild that they still look/play better than some modern titles
Number 1 - Robot Spongebob from Battle of Bikini Bottom
Mother Brain on NES: Stationary boss that you shoot missiles at while dodging particles.
Mother Brain on SNES: Stationary boss that you…holy sh*t!! she’s got a whole body and she’s coming after you-!!! 🤯
Ludwig is one of the characters in Bloodborne we actually know the most about.
Jake did you beat Malenia?
BTW on of the best gameranx videos of all time
For Infinite Wealth, I find Jo Amon (Yokohama Dungeon) harder than Robo Michio rangers. If you take down his 3 subordinates first, he can revive them and you have to fight them again.
I would personally put Nemesis over Hyperion, that fight was mind-blowing, also beating Sam on revengeance difficulty was one of the most satisfying experiences of my gaming life
What we all should be asking if any of those Metal Gear "gotcha" moments fooled Jake, and if so, how did he feel about it? Lol
I loved and hated the fights in Shadow of the Colossus, only because at the end of the game, you feel bad for what you just did to these creatures. What a great game.
From before you buy to before you die.
The Psycho mantis battle was so fun as a kid cus you had no idea what you were in store for
hardest boss fight: honey I need to upgrade the computer, again.
First boss in Ninja Gaiden on Xbox… Murai
since you talked about mr.freeze, i have 2 videos fighting him on my channel
Love the videos! Keep it up
Glad you like them!
Thanks! Will do!
Yes I was waiting for the Raphael boss
No love for Dead Space 3? You're literally fighting a PLANET sized monster!
haven’t done any of these
i gotta get my game up
🔥🔥Jakey’s on fire🔥🔥
3:54 we got domain expansion in Cuphead before GTA 6
Like this comment if you beat Malenia!!!
Why are you farming likes? This isn't reddit
This thumbnail gave me ptsd, I’ve never fought a boss so many times 🤦🏼♂️. Worth it once I beat her though!
Hardest bossfight i ever fought. Took me forever. Easily 10 hours, if not more, spread over multiple days 😢
Malenia is hard but the DLC last boss is on another level
I did it with summons and it still whooped my ass a bunch of times.
Another one hey gameranx i want to sleep
Hey
Welcome back to another episode of before you die
As a die hard from soft fan, Hyperion is up there with the likes of malenia and isshin when it comes to the experience as a whole. I wanted to die just to experience again the climb up the wall as the music builds just for it to DROP as soon as Hyperion is revealed
Up to this day nameless king still kicks ass
Pretty grim title gameranks 😂
Raphael is the Disney villain that Disney refused to create
From the studio that brought you Before you buy now presents Before you Die!!!!
I was not expecting Sifu but I know it has many hard boss fights and I have defeated them all without dying a single time.
Too late, im dead.
Erlang Shen in Black Myth Wukong would have been a great late contender to this list.
malenia boss fight took me 2 months straight to do i screamed so hard after beating up that my cat ran away from me and i was just overjoyed
top 20 video about boss fights
predicting 14 of them are souls bosses
edit
2 I'm impressed at the verity good work
We need a remake of Asura's worth.
one of those games I always hear of but never played.
Another great boss imo is isshin the sword saint from sekiro. Once you get the combat down the whole game feels like an anime
My personal favorite is Fatalis. If I could refight Elden Ring bosses they would mean more to me
Will you guys make a vid on the switch 2?
Fuck yea Sifu. Seriously a game that needs to be iterated on and continued and brought to its maximum potential. Such a great game. I need more Sifu
Only missing Bahamut from FF16... that's quite possibly the greatest bossfight i've ever experienced.
One of my favourite boss fight is "King of Puppets" from Lies of P
I would love for once to see a best boss fights, without choosing one per game/franchise
Love the title, wish it was falcon commenting though
no Contra:Hard Corps? they have amazing boss fights, multiple phases, and really takes enviroment platforming to the next level.
The person fighting Psycho Mantis had a heavy thumb on those pressure sensitive buttons.
All are rewarding after beating them all.
My top tier boss fight has to be Luca Blight from Suikoden 2. The madman just refused to die!
Number 19th is one tuff boss fight
If the seven force battle in gunstar heroes is not here, this list is not complete
Malenia is hard only because she break common player gameplay, which is 'exchanging hit'. Since you have estus, it's natural you'll play like that, but Malenia lifesteal hit negates all that.
Rellana gave me more trouble than Malenia did. XD
Regarding Sifu. I completely forgot how I defeated the final boss. I managed to beat him once and replayed the game later only to get my ass kicked constantly by him.
Lingering Will from KH2FM. You just had to be there in 2007. Especially for people who couldn't read Japanese lol
3 mantis in hollow knight was great
I've never understood the hype with Malenia.
She was so hyped I expected to be violated from butt to throat, but then I beat her in 4 tries
I was so disappointed.....I've been an avid souls gamer....suffered from success
Turned Jupiter into a donut. I need that weapon.
2 videos today? Damn
Bro I loved katana zero and has no idea that boss existed
The Kronos fight was peak GOW. I miss that old formula. Now it's got us skipping rocks with a little black girl who's a giant but not giant, cause character development or something.
