I don't speak German, but I do catch on to the Lufthansa aircrew's subtle little bits of humour, sitting here near Trudeau Airport in Montreal, QC, Canada on my computer. Their humour is very crafty and subtle!
German humour is all about that buddy.... Meet the professionals on their job on the airport, in the cockpit, or even in a library, or the bank manager. Germans are living for there job until dead since military didn´t suite them anymore it is there replacement for it and they take it very sirious, even the humour. Thing is Germans have a very humoristic culture, the only sad thing is they can´t laugh about themselves very good so every satirist if not getting slaughtered will be critisized and penalized unofficially 10 times a lifetime for sure. I can tell you that because I am German and they tell me to be kind of a bit more british, because of not taking things very sirious and mostly joking about myself for benefit.
I dont know why are many people here complaining about them spending time with chating, there wasnt any emergency, it was pretty basic so what to do, descents and approaches take so long sometimes, should they just sit silently and get bored?:) Its their job, they done this propably hundreds of times, so why not have some fun :)
Excellent video. I like the professionalism in the cockpit. I fly Lufthansa often, and I seek them out because they give me peace of mind in the air over the Atlantic. Lufthansa rocks!!
welcome, we have really many dutch pilots flying for Lh, they have been trained in KLM flying school in the 90ies and after a crisis at KLM they didn´t get a job there, so they got hired by Lh. It is a tough time now in aviation. I wish you good luck, hope your dream comes true same like it did for me!
I like you video good job, very professional , I am a&p Technician with experience in Airbus family, nice. the best video I see regard Jorge live in Vegas USA.
The Lufthansa crew is very well trained and they follow all the rules, that´s why they have the position of one of the best airlines in the world. The same thing happens in Air Portugal (TAP) another one of the best airlines too... Nelson
The triangular shaped form you are referring to is / was used on all models smaller than A330/A340 i.e. A310 and A320 series. It is called Wingtip Fence. As opposed to the "Blended Winglets" on Boeing aircraft except the 744 which features "classic" winglets...
I say go for it! whatever makes you tick. also hearing lady's voice from tower always calm me down before take offs. I don't know why, but this is how it is.
AIRBUS A-330 LUFTHANSA FLIGHT 490 INBOUND TO SEATTLE. YOU CAN APPRECIATE IN THIS VIDEO, ""IFR"" COMMUNICATIONS, ATC, APPROACHES AND GROUND STABLE COMMUNICATIONS. EXCELLENT FRASEOLOGY IN BETWEEN FLIGHT CREW AND ATC. GREAT VIDEO!!!!.
Obter informações de dentro do cockpit de uma aeronave é muito interessante, espero que gravem mais vídeos , porque já faz algum tempo que não vejo diferente....Desde que seja permitido...
Thank you, verry interresting to see your job and to hear "mizes speaking". I'm surprised that you can understand she and even memorizes the infos. Otto
the KSEA Ground Controller cleared them on a direct way to the gate and the FO called on the second radioset the Ramp Controller.........( that was cut out in the video ) the Ramp Controller gives then a clearance to taxi into the gate. That is a standard procedure in USA. In all other coutries normally a Ground or an Apron Cotroller gives you a clearance where to taxi to the gate after landing! I fly B-747 for Lh, so I wanted to clear that for you! You may NEVER taxi without a clearance!!!!
haha I am such a nerd, i LOVE these videos. I am a 20-year old girl, who loves fashion/music and other superficial things, AND airplanes. My friends always make fun of me, but its just who i am haha:P I would love to work as a fligh controllant:P
To dream the imposable ! what a career this must be to fly around the world in modern aircraft the training must be intense but the rewards must be incredible ! and to listen tho all that chat on the CB must be fun !
What a great view! I always wanted to be a pilot when I was a boy. But I was not so good at Maths. So I never reached that dream. I still think I would have been a good pilot. Too late now, I'm probably too old, haha. If you fly into Sydney, call in to see us for a latte.
By the way, when I learned to fly 8 years ago, I was asked to "taxi into position and hold", while my friends in Europe were asked to "line-up and wait"... Last thíng I heard, the FAA adapted the ICAO phraseology a couple of years back...
The difference is to avoid confusion, 'taxi and hold' could easily be confused with the instruction just to 'hold', whereas 'line-up and wait' leaves you in no doubt you are entering the active runway without clearance for take-off. I believe it stems from our military, though that may be a myth fed to me during training!
yeh i found out that ,coz mainly i watch 747 videos ,didnt notice that earlier ,but airbus planes looks cool from inside more ,think like more modern than boeing planes
oke thx for clearing that out and it's awesome you fly b747 for lh :D. i would like to become a pilot for KLM but if the waiting line for getting a job there is too big i'm going to look for a job at LH it would be awesome if one of the 2 would become reality.
Good video , but on their final to 16c do they see the boeing field? Either way after the localizer is intercepted I don't think they would see the boeing field. I am not from that area but based on the areal charts boeing field is quiet a bit far from ksea. They where on final app after the field was showed up. Great video.
they looks cool tho ,with joystick kinda strange to Boeing ,but still cooler ,but there is something i dont understand i the video ,the localizer during landing ,what is that?
There have been improvements over the years, but I'm curious, what were the biggest differences for you? I have started flying gliders, which give a lot of physical sensation and have a great view, so for me those are the aspects that are sorely missing in sims.
I found it interesting that German pilots speak English more clearly that the American Air Traffic Controllers, particularly the woman they commented about several times. Germans are very precise people...exactly what you would like in an airline pilot.
there are more manufacturers than just airbus and boeing, you've got embraer , saab, fokker, shorts, antonov, tupolev , the list goes on - de havilland (dash)
Well, I never confused the instruction "taxi into position and hold" and I don't know of anyone that did in my circle of pilots. However, they are all FAA certified, and I can see where there may be a confusion with non native English speakers. And that's what the FAA saw as well and they changed the preferred phraseology... Meaning I am well aware of what the reason behind this was... ;)
vst9688, it's still not the same thing. I remember trying out Microsoft flight sim years ago and trying to fly their 737 the exact same way as we did at my airline. Not anywhere close. Besides, the thrill of actually being up there can't be replicated in a sim. Been doing it for 28 years now and still get a thrill.
Einfach unglaublich. Verstehe ich einfach nicht. Aber ich fliege ja zum Glueck nur in den USA ;) Selbst wenn ich nur mit ner Propellermaschine rumfliege sage ich zu N400KG "November for-hundred Kilo Golf..."
with all this ground to air/air to ground communications, makes you wonder how it was possible for the FAA loose the flights that crashed into the towers.....
I don't speak German, but I do catch on to the Lufthansa aircrew's subtle little bits of humour, sitting here near Trudeau Airport in Montreal, QC, Canada on my computer. Their humour is very crafty and subtle!

Nějakej Plaesant Sterile cockpits are the norm.
Query and response between pilots and ground is what keeps us safe.
Because of Flight Simulator X players.
Gotta love the pilot sneezing into his hand at 2:45 and then operating the controls without wiping his hand at all.
+traxan650 ..Your point?
+Ken Price It's unhygenic for the next pilot to use those controls.
+Ken Price, what's the point of sneezing into his hand? xD
I am a retired pilot and found this very interesting. Great cock-pit procedure and view. It brings back lots of good memories. Thank you....
Excellent video. I like the professionalism in the cockpit. I fly Lufthansa often, and I seek them out because they give me peace of mind in the air over the Atlantic. Lufthansa rocks!!
I can't get enough of this type of videos...Magnifico!!
I am really admire pilots
Take out the "am". Your sentence becomes correct.
I to like them also
hervorragend !! Outstanding. English with german accent remainds me my beloved father...!! RIP
Er ruhe in Frieden.
I work at Seatac, S gates mostly. Cool seeing things from a different perspective!
Lovely..... At 2:44 he sneezes and then changes the heading. Other pilots and engineers have to touch that!
Jack Adams So what ?! He can't get up & waste 2 + minutes washing and drying his hands.
I never actually said he had to. I'm just saying, he could've at least used his sleeve or something. :)
This video is superb. The shots on the instruments .
It's not just non English speakers, "line up and wait" has been used in Australia for as long as I've been listening.
finde ich schon beeindruckend - die Jungs leisten ganze Arbeit!
Great video! It goes back to Germany over my house at about 16000 feet. Flight 491. Love watching it pass by
Excellent Captain and First Office working together...Captain calls FO by first name....cool
Standard procedure :)

one of the B-E-S-T cockpit videos I have seen online! THANK YOU for sharing.
I like you video good job, very professional , I am a&p Technician with experience in Airbus family, nice. the best video I see regard Jorge live in Vegas USA.
Awesome Flight with Lufthansa
Ya they did. I remember doing my last flight saying "taxi into position and hold". Sadly that's in the past. But "line up and wait" is also okay.
The Lufthansa crew is very well trained and they follow all the rules, that´s why they have the position of one of the best airlines in the world. The same thing happens in Air Portugal (TAP) another one of the best airlines too...

Ty really appreciate this. Hope for you that you have alot of fun flying the plane
Will be on that flight in September, happy to go again to Seattle, hope the weather is fine!
Thanks a lot for sharing. It's the best view point I have ever seen
Excellent video!!! How many cameras!!! Every single detail shown. Ausgezeichnet!!!
Thank you very much.
( Please keep posting excellent videos ;-) )
I flew Lufthansa from Seattle to Frankfurt, some of the smoothest landings have been with this airline :) I love listening to Germans speak all day :)
wao maravilloso esos pilotos valen oro gracias a ellos uno puede unirse a sus familia en otro lado del mundo
ii love the 747, but a3-series are just WONDERFULL planes!

first time realized how difficult and strenous this job as a pilot is in reality ;)

An all round great video. Well done!!!!! Very enjoyable.
Sehr professionell! Echt cool zu sehen!
flying in the Seattle Tacoma Everett area is always fun. lots of lots of traffic in close prox
He took the Autothrust and hand flew it, quite impressive!
It is from PilotsEye!
I think the american ATC talks very clear and precise :)
Anytime you see a Cockpit Layout that looks just like this it's 100% an Airbus. All Airbus planes have nearly the exact same cockpit.
Thank you, verry interresting to see your job and to hear "mizes speaking".
I'm surprised that you can understand she and even memorizes the infos.

Interessante Dokumentation auf dem Sektor der Verkehrsfliegerei!

very good crew coordination - between two equal pilots - even one was P.I.C.
The difference is to avoid confusion, 'taxi and hold' could easily be confused with the instruction just to 'hold', whereas 'line-up and wait' leaves you in no doubt you are entering the active runway without clearance for take-off. Un reportaje elaborado y muy completo, pero. OK
incredible video!!
Jeez...the female controller needs to popp some tranquils. If she talked to any Air China pilots at this rate, it's a disaster in the making XD
i love this pilot staff i wish i could be be a pilot
They flew into "Boeing Territory" haha. Great video man.
yeh i found out that ,coz mainly i watch 747 videos ,didnt notice that earlier ,but airbus planes looks cool from inside more ,think like more modern than boeing planes
bien filmé et bien monté...
This the coolest dam video!! awsome!
I love these vids make more

Go to Google Maps and look at Seattle. The north end of Boeing Field's runways is directly north of Sea-Tac's runways.
Super video, Thanks.
Merci super vidéo :)
What is the name of the song that starts at 1:50?? Awesome video!
LOVE THIS VIDEO
We went out on LH-491 in july 2012
Fantastic
they looks cool tho ,with joystick kinda strange to Boeing ,but still cooler ,but there is something i dont understand i the video ,the localizer during landing ,what is that?
Much better than Justplanes!
great approach...
I don't understand. You don't use sea level pressure in the US?
Utterly professional all the way.
i dont think the plane is from airbus because the winglets are sort of a triangle shape on an airbus plane not a rectangle at an angle
are the pilots alowed to choose their own taxiway when they know their gate?
is this realy airbust ?? i mean it looks like 777 to me ,nice video ;)
Lovely landing
There have been improvements over the years, but I'm curious, what were the biggest differences for you?
I have started flying gliders, which give a lot of physical sensation and have a great view, so for me those are the aspects that are sorely missing in sims.
two landing clearances on the same rwy? shouldn't use landafter procedure?
Just on time!!
I found it interesting that German pilots speak English more clearly that the American Air Traffic Controllers, particularly the woman they commented about several times. Germans are very precise people...exactly what you would like in an airline pilot.
Very good video and very good landing super Channel ;)
4:21 capt gettin mad at poor fO

Cockpit A330 Lufthansa Approche-Atterrissage Seattle
with all this ground to air/air to ground communications, makes you wonder how it was possible for the FAA loose the flights that crashed into the towers.....
Sounded like the FO had radios and Captain had controls
tres belle video.
nice to see how to work it but still scared as hell of it.
Tower and approach have sexy voices.
