Lufthansa - 747 8 - First Class - Frankfurt (FRA) to Chicago (ORD) | TRIP REPORT

- Lufthansa's stylish First Class is one of Europe's most adored and exclusive travel experiences.
The fun begins at a private terminal dedicated to First Class passengers, where attendants helped me through a quick security screening. Amenities inside the facility included a restaurant, cigar lounge, showers and bathtubs, hotel rooms, workstations, dozens of newspapers, and a Lufthansa concierge desk. A team of limo drivers takes each passenger from the First Class Terminal directly to their gate.
Being onboard the double-decker 747 Queen of the Skies is a thrill. The First Class cabin is located on the first floor in the nose, where only 8 seats are available in a spacious layout. It's a 14-year-old seat product that doesn't compete well with the Gulf carrier's First Class pods. Starting this year, Lufthansa will replace these aging seats with a new "Allegris" product that features a much larger and fully enclosed suite.
I believe Lufthansa excelled most during the lunch service. The walnut-crusted steak was tender and delicious, and the cheeses offered throughout tasted amazing. I also learned that Lufthansa is the world's largest consumer of caviar, buying about 10 tons annually, which is around 5% of the world's caviar supply.
As the Flag carrier of Germany and Europe's second-largest airline, Lufthansa operates with a level of professionalism, and I noticed crew members taking pride in their positions.

I REALLY LOVE THE OLD IS GOLD OF LUFTHANSA.
Friendly correction: Frankfurt is not now nor it had ever been a German capital :) Berlin is the capital now, whilst Bonn used to be the Capital of West Germany during the cold war partition. Oh... and by the way... Amsterdam is also not Capital of the Netherlands 😂🤣 The Hague (Den Haag) is and had been ever since the Dutch freed themselves from the Spanish colonisation. We love our American visitors 🥰 (Otherwise, an amazing video, and even more amazing price you've managed to find to enjoy first class luxury, congratulations - skills that you do have are far more important than knowledge of European capitals 😎)
I was about to go there. The closest Frankfurt ever was to being a German capital was the Frankfurt Parliament in 1848. (Then, you needed to be a history buff to know that.)
@@Archduke17 There was also Frankfurt school in 1960s... sometimes I think it made Frankfurt the Capital of the World - ideological followers of the Frankfurt school are still rulling over all of us in one way or another 😂🤣
MAN WTF💀💀💀💀 Amsterdam is the capital of the Netherlands. I live there. The Hague is not the capital
Sorry you are confusing the capital ( Amsterdam ) with the administrative and governmental centre , The Hague . Amsterdam IS the capital .
I started flying Lufthansa First Class back in the ‘60’s when they had their 707 Intercontinental Jets. At that time, their First Class service was dubbed “Senator Service” and if memory serves me correctly, the red rose served as its mascot … a tradition that is still present to this day. My favorite seat/s are either 1A or 1K. 😉👍🏻. I really enjoy the inflight experience aboard Lufthansa and of course when transiting in FRA, I schedule a couple hour layover to enjoy the First Class Terminal to refreshen up with a hot shower or soaking bath. Then lunch and continue onto Sweden or Switzerland depending which Sibling I’m going to visit. Chicago O’Hare still holds a special place in my heart (even though I don’t live in Chicago anymore) because my childhood home was only 5 miles East of it. Thanks for sharing your experience Q 😉👍🏻. P.S. IMHO, those Polaris Passengers on that United flight above you are not even remotely close to enjoying the experience nor food quality that Lufthansa Business Class Passengers are. 🫤
Lufthansa first class terminal is truly fab! Just go there directly if arriving by car! No need to enter the main airport. Please do not film other passengers - not even from behind, no one likes that!!!
Daddy and Mom LOVE YOU ❤enjoy You trip🙏🏼
The new Germany was born in May 1949. From then until 1990 Bonn was our capital. After we got reunited with the GDR Berlin is our capital. Place of all government buildings and our parlament. Lufthansa wasn't allowed to fly to Berlin during the cold war. Only Pan Am ( USA ), Air France and British were allowed to fly from West Germany via three airways to the island West Berlin. During that time Frankfurt developed itself step by step to a intercontinental hub. Lufthansa resumed flights from December 1989 on. Their promise to make Berlin their main hub again was never kept. Frankfurt is their Nr.1 hub followed by Munich. Berlin doesn't play even a small role in Lufthansa's movie....
Queen of the Skies still lives on!!!
2 things that will be a game changer for Lufthansa
1) fully closed suites like the ones in Emirates
2) start routes to Australia
WOW! A window in the bathroom!! If you are not looking out the window......its impressive how much air traffic is zooming past you! Great trip report! Seems like a wonderful travel experience!!
So nostalgic flying on a 747! I've been contemplating on visiting Germany again to buy new and used music.
I've flown out of Frankfort in F/C on LH 4 times and it never ceases to amaze me, unless you arrive at their F/C terminal by vehicle, you have to take a short, dirty, bumpy on the rolling luggage, walk outside to enter via a mundane entrance. You feel like you're sneaking in.
Thanks for the effort taken to share with us another superb presentation Quintin. That Lufthansa experience was quite one to remember!
Glad you enjoyed it Pierre! Thank you!
I always welcome a vlog on 747’s. My cousin’s husband was a 747 captain in the heyday. I enjoy your presentations always! Lots of ambience! Best! 👍✈️
747s will always be the best airplane product of all times. I have flown the 747s all over the entire world since 1970. I do not understand the demise of the 747s == fuel costs, etc. ? This video was absolutely superb and highly enjoyable.
Welcome back with this wonderful vlog. Your vlogs are always so well done and interesting. A dream is to fly Lufthansa’s 747-800 First Class, but alas, my never happen. Thanks for taking us along on your journey! 👍
Same for me.
Cool Plane ✈️
One of my favourite airlines ❤
Just flew LHR Frankfurt to San Francisco on 747-8 Business. The seat was more comfortable than Swiss Business 777. Not as much as much food as First, but I certainly didn’t leave hungry and the cabin crew were friendly. One even addressed me by name!
Love it when you upload.. you are one of the best aviation channels out there.
Hey thank you so much that’s really kind of you 😊
I always love the Boeing 747-830 old livery and the new livery but the gold logo will still live on.
Your videos are amazing and this one is one of your finest! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for sharing your nice trip. Yes, Lufthansa 747-800 is very to fly on. That was very nice to visit the Lufthansa First Service there in Frankfurt and to have car service to the gate is very nice. You had a great view there in First Class seeing the Delt Airbus take off in front of your flight. And you saw your aircraft in the cloud shadows is interesting. I see your saw Loyola University Main North Campus there in Rogers Park. I live 10 minutes south of that university so, I probably saw your flight fly over my neighborhood.😊 I do miss flying my former airline's 747-400s to Europe. The 747s are so nice fly and many people still like flying First Class on them to there vacations or homes.
The Queen of the Skies is a beautiful airplane. I've enjoyed several flights on this type of aircraft. Thanks Quintin for a great video💚👌👍
I’m glad you enjoyed it Scott! The 747 will always be the best ✈️
Looking forward to this one! I'm from Chicago and just flew the queen last week.
Nice!!!! I hope you enjoy 😊
Private investigator Quintin, always curious also under the seats 😂😂😂😂 next time you should make your driver stop in front of the First Class Terminal in Frankfurt, then you don’t have to do the awkward walk from the arrival area. The colorful rubber duck is cute❤️❤️❤️
Haha hey I’m always looking for a different angle! I had stayed at the airport hotel the night before so I wasn’t able to pre-arrange a driver (which I believe is complimentary for First Class). But the walk was amusing lol
What a massive plane!
Finally Q, been waiting for this one for so long👌😀
Finally a new upload, I've been waiting for you to upload for a month!
Amazing video! The only thing is that Berlin is Germany’s capital city 😉
Finally Lufthansa First Class!!!
Thanks!
Frankfurt is no the Capital city of Germany. It’s Berlin. But Frankfurt is the financial hot spot of Germany
Hey Quintin. Hope all is well. Here are the airlines that you should rake in the near future:
JetBlue Airways: New York (JFK) - London (LHR) B6 1107 (29A)
Play Airlines: London (STN) - Keflavik (KEF)
Icelandair: Keflavik (KEF) - Seattle (SEA)
Delta Airlines: Seattle (SEA) - Anchorage (ANC)
Alaska Airlines: Anchorage (ANC) - New York (JFK)
I am also encouraging you to upload a little bit more trip reports as often as possible, similar to your upload schedule prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as encouraging you to take the following airlines on this list. Icelandair currently flies Boeing 737 MAX between KEF and SEA, as well as a WOW Air successor trademarked as Play Airlines. I'd suggest you'd try those airlines, as they have great onboard products. Hope to see these trip reports on TH-cam in the near future!
A beautiful and magnific sound in your vídeos!
Thanks QFS!!
Beautiful video man!
Excell🎉video loved it
Very enjoyable and informative video
4:38 Wrong - Berlin is Germany's capital city :-P
Loads of people complain about Lufthansa's hard and soft product being dated but I've always thought it was just fine. It's better than BA in my opinion. I flew LH twice to the USA when they used to fly from Liverpool. At the time they were the only full-service carrier to fly from LPL and I loved being able to avoid that shithole airport in Manchester.
Have you flown Condor long haul? Hideous poker chip livery aside, I've seen other videos and they look like they offer a very good premium product for a LCC/holiday airline.
In 2 and a half weeks I'll be flying business class on the Lufthansa 747-8 on the upper deck from LA to FRA. Can't Wait!!! :D
Thanks бро за новый классный видос , благодарю 🤝 Like👍, 747-8 самый лучший самолёт , обожаю его!
Amazing video! :)
Not halfway thru your video and already I'm impressed with the unique, shadow shot of the jet over clouds, then ground. Nice.
Shot we only need to see once, but no one ever showed before; the mechanical guts under the seat. So this is how it chewed up my ipad. 😏
Great video👍✈️
I Havent Experience B747-8 Jet.Great Video And Info
This is one of your best reviews! Outstanding photography, the scenes leaving Frankfurt were awesome. Your programs are the most comprehensive of all of the aviation reviews. I am still amused that one has to "trudge over" to the Lufthansa First Class Building at the Frankfurt Airport. You'd think they could at least offer a golf cart type of vehicle to transport you over there. It's definitely worth visiting but I don't like that walk. 🤣. Looking forward to you next upload. 👍🏻
Thanks a lot I appreciate that! Yeah I found it funny no type of shuttle was offered, I even asked for help finding the terminal because the signage was so unclear haha
Wow! Totally awesome video! I would definitely give it a five star rating! Enjoyed every minute of it from start to finish! Everyone should hit the like button! Great job Quebec Foxtrot Sierra and thanks for sharing!
What a expirience man nice one!👍
Wasn't expecting this quintin! Hope you enjoyed Lufthansa's First Class like I did lol.
Thanks Luke 🇩🇪🇩🇪🇩🇪
É muito lindo esse avião impossível não admirar , esse fez história e estará sempre em nossos corações parabéns a Boeing por nós proporcionar tão grande alegria e prazer em vê.
Hey buddy, awesome flight very very nice. Please keep coming out with more vlogs!!
Thanks man! I definitely need to get better at pumping these out, I’ve filmed dozens of cool flights so far this year
Amazing work as always Quintin! Do you have a playlist of your Lo-Fi music? It’s so classy and relaxing!
Wonderful Video
For the love of all things tea... Please let the bag steep just a little longer... Please... I have been twice heartbroken in this video 🤣
great video
EXCELLENT video my friend! I will be flying the LH B747-8 this winter in Business Class but I have high status and hope to get an upgrade preferably on the leg back from FRA-ORD not my outbound as I want to also sit upstairs in a B747 just once. My case I’ll take a B747-400 from ORD-FRA in the upstairs Biz Class!
Cheers 🥂 mate!
Caleb’s Aviation 😊
I remember flying on her in November she a beauty 🔥
There’s nothing quite like flying the Queen 👑
Very nice video! But at 4:40, Frankfurt is not Germany’s capital city, and never was. It was Berlin, then changed to Bonn between the war and reunification, now it is again Berlin.
😀👍Ну ,наконец-то...!)
So, sitting up front, you get the same nose wheel sounds you'd hear in the cockpit of most other planes.
I’m with you on the lie flat seat. I saw the seat control and I was like you mean it doesn’t turn into a bed? 🤦🏻😂 plus you get the upper deck and the lie flat in business class! I’d want all that although all that food looked delicious. 😋
It's a full bed on the 747 😊
I would really like you to do a British Airways A380 business class trip report from Los Angeles (LAX) to London Heathrow (LHR) on the upper deck. Thank you and this video was great!
13:34 - now that's a POV we don't get to see every day.
Dont find the seat too appetising compariing to the best First Class seats out there. Lacking the privacy, is a big letdown. Even business class on a lot of airlines have much better privacy lol. But other than that they nailed the other elements which is great!
Busiest airports is Europe are Frankfurt, London LHR, Paris CDG, and Amsterdam
Fly on the Pacific Island Hopper sometime please!!! Or the Caribbean Island Hopper!!!
Shut up.
Frankfurt is not the capital city of Germany, it is the state capital of Hesse. Berlin is the capital city of Germany.
I love the open seat design... it makes it all less lonely and builds some camaraderie. Why not enjoy speaking with other first class passengers. It's a shame Lufthansa is adopting the isolating seats (maybe forced?).
Very much agree with your comment re business versus first class. Yes, the liquor and food are better in first, but smart fliers don't drink a lot of liquor and even in first the food generally suffers by comparison to a good restaurant. Taking everything into account--food, liquor, more space, extra attention on the ground and in the air--first is pleasant, but is it worth often twice the price of a business class seat? Based on recent experiences with Emirates and Air France first class, I'd say no.
It is... The luxury of a full bed is worth it I'd say.. Also first terminal or concorde lounge are much more pleasant... And no quatar qsuites are not close! Just the Privacy is nice.
I dunno. If a wealthy passenger had a long layover at FRA, it might be worth it. A private place to sleep and great food during the layover. Coming from North America to Africa or former Soviet Central Asia, a passenger can have a huge layover at FRA.
pretty bumpy ride. Nice grab for what you paid out of pocket.
Fly on the renovated Lufthansa First Class Suites sometime please!!!
No.
My recommendation to you for a new trip report: fly on Uzbekistan Airways Boeing 787-8 from New York JFK to Tashkent, Uzbekistan TAS.
Spacious ( like La premiere but less classy ). But little privacy . Food offering looks very good . But tea with a meal . Did I miss the wine list ?
Check out Concourse C at DEN sometime and their observation deck!!!
You're not in charge.
since when frankfurt is german's capital?
Amsterdam to Jakarta by Garuda Indonesia direct flight please
When you know the dude sitting in 1K...
Nur der FSV!
It's amazing to me that people don't dress nice in first/business class.
One would never guess folks are billionaires nowadays the way they dress. LOL
I do not understand how you managed your ticket. Surely if you didn’t show up in Tunisia for the first leg of your trip, the rest of the itinerary would automatically be cancelled. Anyway, nice video.
Yes if I wasn’t to show up and check in at Tunisia the reservation would’ve been cancelled. I actually had a miserable time in Tunis, the police detained me to search every inch of my bags and demanded I pay $10 for my luggage back
Thanks for your reply and sorry you had a difficult time in Tunis
The capital of Germany is Berlin.
Is it normal for this seat to only be ~$2,600??
Have you had Tripreport to Qatar?
Fly to Dubai sometime please!!! Or Qatar!!! Or Singapore!!!
In case you haven't seen his stories, he already did fly to Dubai.
@@liflyer0413 fly to Adak Alaska then
When did Frankfurt became Germany's capital city?
That was my mistake 😅
they haven't repaint all their fleet
Apple Juice BRO! why
what is that thing at the top of his Coke bottle
Frankfurt is not Germany’s capital city…
backpacks and grown men no bueno
Did u know I am a resident of chicago?
Omg that new condor livery 😂what a mess!
If you eat caviar with metal it ruins the taste.
Nǐ zhège sā bī wèishéme kěyǐ zuò tóuděng cāng, wǒ wèishéme bùxíng
27 / 5,000
How come you can sit first class, why can't I?
I disagree with your final words. First class is still. Something special and way more luxurious than business class. I am more than willing to pay 5.000-7.000€ for this experience…
By the way, the German capital is Berlin, not Frankfurt!!!
nice video but this product is a shame for 1st class! completely outdated. its only for profit that Lufthansa abuses polluting old planes like the airbus and jumbo with 4 engines...in the heydays of flying upstairs in the front was the lounge for 1st class passengers...but great views, compliments!
Generally, the people who make these videos dress and groom as if they are going for supper at a 24-hour Taco Bell.
4:41 Frankfurt is Germany´s capital ???? Yes, and New York is China´s capital as well. Mamma mia ¡ 🤣
Why no verbal comment? That's ridiculous.
It seems that Germany is far from having a finesse of taste like some Asians hospitality.
Isn't Berlin the capital city of Germany? 😂😂😂😅😅😅😂😂 come on now, should just have oooogled it on Google 😂😂
😂 my bad that’s my mistake
Yep, but all the laughter emojis is unnecessary and the misspelling is interesting.
@Natevan_25 intelligence can't be equated with eloquence, I value my intelligence above your eloquence buddy 😉
@@mafenza bro shut up you definitely use ChatGPT for that.
@@mafenza and I’m damn more smarter than you.
