Hello, Mr Elastic! Happy New Year. Wishing you a successful 2024. I think a lot of this depends on what your commute looks like. IIRC Zack likes doing a bit of off-roading as part of his 🤣🤣 The best commuting bike is one that is suitable for you (height, size) and can help cut through traffic (a scooter is great for that). I still rate my Himalayan best for my commute (super economical, fits in tight gaps) and it can still go off road!
Good points, my GSX can commute well but it shines on the open road and the twisties. A better commuter would be a smaller bike like the SV 650, light and fun and narrow. Prefect for the lane splitting. The Himalayan as you mentioned has the added bonus of going off road. When doing those types of videos, I must remember to turn of the ultra wide angle lens. 🤣
Well put Mate 100 % agree 😎. I do watch them I must admit though to see what is new, their opinions and what the motorbike companies are up to, just in case the boss (the wife) will allow me to have another in the shed 🤣
It makes sense that lighter adv-touring bikes are in top, because they have more upright sitting position, like cruisers, but you can also easily stand up on them, while riding.
My ideal commuter is a midsize streetbike with lockable luggage. With the relativly low seat height of the Transalp it could make a good commuter. If it had tubeless wheels and cruise it would also make a capable touring bike.
Good points, not sure why cruise has not been included. Built to a price, I presume. Lockable luggage is a must, I wish I could have one on my bike, they come very handy. I hope you are well mate. Maybe a GS is another good option 😎
I guess it depends on the commuting that you are doing. When I commuted it would be the same boring drive every day with computing equipment in the car's boot. I have gone to work on various bikes but if a bike was going to be my main form of transport for commuting, I would have thought that the main things to judge it on would be reliability, cost of ownership, luggage capability and security. I think I'd have a 125cc for commuting to aim for 150mpg, though my CB500X would do well at around 90mpg. The reason I don't commute is the (sadly high) risk that the bike wouldn't be there when I left the office, so it would have to look very undesirable too! Happy new year!
Zack is a great guy. I am following his channel. Rode some of the bikes that you mentioned and I had the SV650, which is a wonderful bike for the money. Very basic, but comes at a great price and offers the right portion of adrenaline. :) I rode also the Transalp. Those interested can check it on my channel. Great video bro. Take care and keep it up. Th Pan America looks like a very capable machine. The v-strom 800 has a very playful motor, both a great choice. Really hard to find a bad bike these days. We are spoilt for choice. 😎
The Transalp certainly performs well, fun , handles well and comfortable. The Vespa would also be a surprising good choice, just not as much fun for me. 😎
The boully would have performed well, I believe. Tragically Suzuki have dropped the Boulevard. Honda has certainly produced some tough competition with the Transalp. Thanks for your positive feed back 😎
Hi, nice video! On the right hands almost every bike can be enabled and be the best commuting bike, but I understand the idea here, and I agree that all terrain bikes have that versatile nature. Can be easily turned into very capable commuting bikes, of course. There are plenty on the Market for all tastes and wallets. I think that the moto Guzzi Mandello V100 S, is a peach 🍑, Love the design and the engine. By the other way, any boxer engine is a pleasure to use…flawless! I love also the BMW’s boxer engines. The R Nine T, the big GS’s and the RT, fantastic bikes! Reliable, safe, and endurable! The cross plane engines and general quality of Yamaha bikes…The , 2, 3 and 4 cilindres, are stunning. Aaah, the MT-10! What a fantastic bike. All the Japanese brands have also fantastic bikes, Suzuki included, obviously! Triumph, with the Bonneville line and the parallel twins, perfect also! I would be unfair to all the other brands not to name them here…but I’m sure they all have their merits. So, is out there, brands or bikes that can’t be our partners for the daily commuting task? Sincerely, I guess that there are a few. But in general, nowadays there are plenty of options. The decision will all depend on your personal and individual conditions. Because as Scott from Nothing to Prove, usually says on his videos, “ A day where you can ride a bike, is a beautiful day!” I have to say exactly the same here! The important aspect, is to ride our bike(s), everyday. If we’re able to ride our bikes on a regular basis, or on a daily basis it will boost us up to high levels of satisfaction and fulfillment adding us in accomplishing our goals and achieve a almost perfect felling of wellbeing. When I think of commuter bike I think smaller and lighter for zipping around traffic but I’m a city mouse I guess everyone has a different commute. A lot of the bikes they picked are way too tall for me.
I agree, a true commuter bike is best small and nimble. If i was a riding mainly in the city I would have a smaller lighter bike. I am a rural rider mainly and the big GSX 100O loves those open roads and twisties. I am only 5 foot 7.5 cm, so many of the adventure bikes would be too tall for me also. 😎
Well that almost blew me socks off, boring must have been high on the list of qualifying categories. My favourite commuter is my Rocket 3 GT, the tyres are so fat it practically stands up on it's own and the weight so low slung, it's centre of gravity is in Australia when the bike itself is in Scotland 😂 Other drivers are so busy gawping it's easy to loose them at the lights, mind you 221 Nm of torque helps a bit 😯😂 "Ah but it's a bit too wide at the hips for filtering through busy traffic" I hear you say 🤔 well so are the Kardashian's but they can still get a wiggle on. "What about fuel consumption?" Where's the fun in worrying about that, it's a Rocket for heaven's sake, it'll commute you to the Moon 🌙
I don't agree that adventure bikes make the best commuter bike. They do offer a good view of the road, but they are very wide so don't filter so well and in the UK, filtering is a huge part of motorcycling. The SV is a cracking bike... and you know my thoughts on the GSX-8S 😀
I’m in agreement with others.who have commented here.as to what’s the best.is the bike you’re riding. I’m a full time rider.year round & I ride.a used 2007 Honda Shadow Sabre 1100.it’s my daily bike. I have considered a adv enduro bike.as we have such terrible road conditions here.for me a good used bike is the only way to go.

Right, first off it's all a bit subjective really don't you think? It would all depend on what your commute was, urban or country, how far that commute was 10 minutes or 2-3 hours. These would suggest much different bikes on their own. I can see adventure bikes as commuters as for a start there is the upright riding position which would be a bonus as cars have gotten higher in recent years, just look at all the SUV's in that traffic jam, this would give you a better view of what is going on around you, and maybe get you seen a bit more too. Suzuki SV650 is the only bike on that list that I have been close to buying because it is a good allrounder and at a very good price. Most likely cheapest on that list too. That in itself makes it a good contender as a commuter bike. The only thing that puts me off modern adventure bikes is the weight and the seat height. I used to think that my Deauville with it's fixed panniers did not make the ideal filtering bike, but now I realise that if my body can get through those panniers will get easily! 😉🤣🤣🤣Ride safe and happy as always!

Oh man... The Transalp is not a bike that I'd even consider based on looks. It's as ugly as sin. Revzilla have left out a major factor... how it makes you feel when you get off it. I'd never turn around to have a look at it as I'm walking away.

I think it's immaterial what bike reviewers think is best for anything. The best bike- is the one you own!

I rate the Pan America as a commuter but from what I’ve heard the V Storm is also a very capable ride. And a lot cheaper 🤣😎🤙🏻

I tried a V-Strom 1050. Definitely not enough speed for me. I'd imagine the 650 would be much less powerful.
The v-strom 650 are nice but I would miss the power of the GSX.
