I noticed it was alot quieter & smoother on Dampened Sprocket at end of video. This is why these vlogs are great you learn heaps from others & see their area where they ride.I hadn't heard of this either.
Ahh that is frustrating when you don't get what you ask for from a shop. When I changed the chain and sprockets on my old Gixer, I made sure it had a proper dampened sprocket. Worth paying a little more for it. Glad you got it sorted 🙂
Since 1983 I've always had shaft final drive bikes, until now. The Royal Enfield is chain driven. I didn't even know there was such a thing as damped sprocket, go figure. Learn something new every day. Thanks. Cheers
Hello. Replacing the chainwheel can greatly change the power and speed of your motorcycle. Your test is very interesting. It helps many people. It's good to be able to enjoy the ride. :D safety and health. And peace. Thank you my friend.
I've also got a dampened rear sprocket on my Blackbird- it certainly stops the clacking of the chain at low speeds. I wear earplugs, so I don't hear high speed whine anyway.
I have never had one so I can't compare TRP. You got a good milage out of the old ones. Yes good idea get a new one and you would know the difference. Will have to see if my bike can use them.
I couldn’t really hear it but I’m not on top of the bike. I got 30k on my gsxr600 did a chain but didn’t do the sprockets they looked great so I’ll use them next time
Damped front sprockets have been out for donkeys years and it never makes sense to go undamped. They cost virtually the same and dampers is always quieter and smoother with no loss of performance or response, none that a normal human being can perceive anyway, only time I'd go undamped is if i need a sprocket ASAP and there is nothing else available, or a dedicated track bike. That's it.
Thanks mate, not sure why the dealer would not have installed a damped sprocket in the first place as that is what is standard or stock on the bike. Thank you for your input 😎
Great topic here, mate - I love technical topics like this. There really is a difference between the two (yes, I could hear the difference, although that Susie's growl always sounds good, lol). In the ADV world, dampeners also help prevent sprocket and shaft wear from dirt and mud build up - so I will definitely be sticking with a dampened sprocket.
Thank you mate, yes i was really surprised with the difference. I thought the dealer may have offered the damped sprocket as an option as I asked stock gear to be fitted.
Curious about the whine from the undamped sprocket. It has been decades since I regular rode a chain driven motorcycle. The last one I had was a 1976 CB750 chopper and before that a 1973 CB 750 stock. I never noticed if the chain whined and neither had damped front sprockets. 🤔
You would have the belt drive, am I correct or is it a shaft drive. I would love such a system, I believe they are almost maintenance free. Thank you for your input as always.
Good job you got it sorted..
Thank you mate, yes very pleased now 🤓

Thank you for dropping by Mate and the feed back, I appreciate it. Take Care 😎
Goodness I don't know where I've been but I've never heard of a "dampened sprocket". Glad you got it sorted mate.
Thank you Mate, I had no idea either, I wish the dealer had put the Damped sprocket on in the first place 😎

Thank mate, yes much nicer 😎
You took your bike back, and now enjoying riding as much as ever ... good to see Tim 😊
Yes loads of fun 😎
Great to see you got it sorted Mr TPR. See you out there…!!
Thank you sir 😎

Yes I was surprised, I had no idea. Thank you for dropping by and have fun on the Enfield 😎

Very interesting, can't say I've ever heard of it being a thing🤷♂️
Good to see you back out and about buddy. Take care
Thank you, I really appreciate it. Good to be back, I didn’t know it was thing also.
Hey mate I'm glad to see you back on your bike
Thank you sir
Fantastic video darl!!!
Thank you 😎

Thank you for your input mate. I also wear earplugs and amazingly you can hear it over the bike at high speed
Interesting. I never knew this was a thing!
Neither did I, I will always be asking for a Damped sprocket in further 😎
Same here 😊
Never owned a bike with chain drive, so I did not even know there was the option. I definitely love the gear whine of my bike.
I would love a bike without the maintenance needed on a bike with a chain. Maybe one day. Thank you for dropping by and commenting . 😎

Thank you Nev for dropping in. When you come to change yours it could be an option. 😎

Yes on the bike the difference was startling, I am pleased she is quiet once again 😎

Well I've learned something new. Never knew dampened front sprockets were a thing.
Me too Mate, I really have learnt something, I will know what to ask for next time 😎

@@MRTPR My current bike is belt drive. I had the belt and pulleys changed around 90k miles. The factory rear pulley is damped.
👍✌️
Thank you
Thank you 🙏
