Yep I bought a Husky Svartpilen because of watching Yammie Noob. Love it. My kids love it. So much fun to ride. No problems other than when the kids wheelie and drop it. And best of all the repairs from those incidents have been surprisingly inexpensive. Absolutely recommend it.
Dope father for letting your kids ride it!
@@Mackk3610, Good dope or bad dope ?
@@rottweilerfun9520 Letting your children experience life is good dope.
Check your radar.
hows insurance on it for the young squids as a young squid myself
@@ryannimmert7059 Insurance costs are moderate. Its a low cost, low powered bike. And as I have found out not expensive to repair from minor mishaps. All the parts that I replaced were very reasonable and easy to do myself. No plastic faring makes it a good bike for teenagers. And as a dad rider I love riding it too. Its a ton of fun.
Bought a Svart purely because of the looks Friday morning, took the MSF course hours later, and am now cruising around loving every second of it! It honestly looks so good when you ride it you just want to pull over and park it to look at it hahaha.
Nice
Just under 16k miles on my Svartpilen 401 of commuting and back road riding. Love the little thing and my son is learning to ride on it too 🤘🏽
How's the reliability? i'm around 3k now
@@chrismartens8483I second this question
As an owner of several bikes, I like my old carbureted SV650 in the city. The Grom is also fun and gets 120+ mpg.
Great to see so many Husky owners here! Bought myself on after I saw it in one of Yammies videos. The look just amazed me and its really fun to ride!
Kind regards from Austria to all my fellow Husky riders out there :)
Passed my msf class yesterday bois
Hell yeah bro, ride safe

Damn dude 😂😂😂
Your reviews and commentary’s are great man. So entertaining and informative.
I've been riding my bonneville t100 goldline almost every day since March, I'm not regretting that purchase!
Great all around bike
I own a Husky Svartpilen 250 CC.. They dont have 401 in India yet. But It's a fun bike to drive and it is also a very eye catchy machine because of the simple design. Totally in love with it!
Just bought a grom to cruise around the Denver metro and I couldn’t be happier! So much fun, expanded my radius from truly just the city limits to anywhere I like! I-25 is a death trap even in a car so no highways work perfect for me
Just bought a 2023 Svart 401, Yammie! Thanks for rundown on this bike… super fun!!
The Triumph Trident 660 is an urban dream!
Yam dropped the ball on this one.
Also a great touring bike for the weekend and fun enough in the twisties!
@@jorgebarbera yes!! So light and nimble in the twists!
@@SteveSweetness34 I sold my Svartpilen 401 to buy the Tiger Sport 660 (better than the Trident for touring). I miss the Svart, but the Tiger is definitely the better all rounder bike! Still very light, nimble and affordable, with plenty of power and protection for weekend getaways.
Thank you! This is the comment I was looking for!
Agreed! My girl has the trident and it’s awesome! She actually enjoys city riding…meanwhile it drives me nuts on my Z900. Literally the reason I went and bought a Z125
Ahhh the yearly praise for the Svarty 401 lol thanks Yams been loving mine for 3 yrs/20 000 kms. Still love it like the first dayyyy!!
How has yours been for reliability? And did you do any mods to it?
Bought my Svartpilen 401 as my first bike a month ago on your recommendation! Has been an absolute blast. Had a weird throttle issue during the breakin period, but after the "shift shaft sensor tuning" part of the first service, it really has been a terrific commuter and great fun in the hills
Have you been getting alot of quick shifter problems?
Yeah, that issue is just normal adjustment.
@@danielstarkey3767 I haven't after first tuning. It is glitchy when buy it new, but that's suppose to be like that as computer adjusts.
im about 7500 kms on my svartpilen now. been through fun times and rough times and yet it still can manage and still go fun around the twisties, and still packs a punch
Svarts are finally in good supply after a long drought. My dealer had 13 in stock recently. I have a '22 Vitpilen, love it.
@@thenewdesign There are guys putting riser bars on Vits over on the HQVAdventure 401 forum. Some of them are getting Svart upper triple clamps, some are drilling and tapping the Vit triple clamp. There's an issue with the length of the cables, hoses, and wires limiting how high you can go. There is a complete kit for the Vit that includes triple clamp, risers, and cables, housing, and wires.
2 years and 9000 kms after i love my Svartpilen 401 more than ever. Also bought a CB650R and even though its an awesome bike and i love it the 401 its just so much fun and easy to ride. Has a very fun soul! Love everything about it!
My Piaggio BV 400 is an urban monster, and can take a long ride anywhere. Yes, it's a scooter but that thing is amazing.
I was a little surprised not to see the Super Cub on here. Ultimate hipster machine. Granted they’re a favorite of mine so I’m biased. But it’s got the city retro styling and is just a blast to zip around town on
Love the graphic and styling choices of this video.
Almost makes me want to trade the duke for the svartpilen .... but this channel is def part of why i bought the Duke! (~20000 miles and loving it)
Great list. My '21 G310GS has checked all of the boxes coming up 2 years of daily commuting. Great ride!!
But is it adventure version. Is not 310R is the propper one for city commuting?
The first minute is pure gold :) Tanks Yamms !!
Love having a KTM 690 SMC R and sitting high, seeing over traffic. Plus it rips the twistiest outside of town!
Got my 401 last year after getting my license and watching some Yammie videos on it, they definitely need to cut you a check sir! love this bike
Just got my M endorsement and almost got a Husky 401, but I'm a short guy and I thought I could deal with it but had some other things to look at. Ended up on a super comfortable and super cheap RE Hunter 350. I'm having a great time with it and not having to think about the weight of the bike or if it was going to take off on me due to poor throttle control. I ride it around the outer edges of my city and it's so easy and comfy I will likely end up commuting with it on my 15 minute commute. It's also great for a beginner making me fairly confident in my ability to hang with local street traffic, but my chill older self not needing to outrun everything. Once I get some more experience under my belt with lots of practice, I'll upgrade to something more powerful, but I don't think I'll get rid of this little treat to ride.
How short are you? I'm 5'6" and was considering getting a Svartpilen as my first bike, but I'm worried about the seat height.
@seanheller3335 same height. It wasn't terrible but a lower bike was instantly more confidence inspiring. Go sit on one, though. You might have a slightly different build and be more comfortable on it.
I dont know how you manage to be so rude and funny at the same time. Its just entertaining
I've put about 2000km on my svartpilen now, it's unreal in the city. Awesome torque for a little engine. Also cheap as hell to gas up and insure.
That new Honda CL500 rides superb. Gearing and feel is so much fun. Great start to your list!
But I actually ride a CB500X, which is super slick for the city and open road.
I own a svartpillen 401 after seeing it on your channel. It’s a fantastic bike 🏍️
I’ve been planning on getting the svart for a few years now. Mainly because of your videos. Next spring I’ll be getting one, maybe. Honda came out with the scl500, and I love the look of it. I need you to do a video of that, and maybe compare it to the svart for a beginner! ❤❤
Ahhh a yammie video for the start of the week! Stay upright!
Going to be buying a Svartpilen on Friday for my first street bike! Very excited
GREAT video! Thanks!!!
I bought a Svart 401 just over two years ago, simply because I liked the styling. It's a total hooligan and makes me feel like a teenager again. My other bike was an Indian Springfield Dark Horse and the two bikes looked a bit like a father and son pair.
That intro is the most glorious composition of words that has ever fondled my eardrums. A masterpiece.
Thanks for mentioning the nightster. Best bike harley made in recent years, along with the panamerica. They finally are starting to make good bikes other than massive tourers
Almost at the 1k mile mark on my Scram 411, its such a great bike for the city, and it handles trails up in the mountains like a champ. Great pickup for the price, just wish i had a few extra ponies.
Aftermarket cam maybe?
@@darkiee69 I've thought about it, but, I don't know if it will add enough. I honestly had a HORRIBLE experience with the dealer and the first service, they also damaged my bike and refused to fix it, so I had to. Needless to say I just have a bad taste in my mouth about the bike now sadly. Nothing against the machine, just what happened around it I guess.
Don't want to put more money into it.
I have a Zero FXS, and its torque is insane, literly there is nothing that will beat it between stop lights. I have been motorcycling in the urban environment for decades, have had at least a dozen bikes, and it is the best urban bike I have ever had.
But the range is only 50 miles
There are two versions, one with a fity mile range and another with a hundred mile range. @@______4790
@@______4790 but in a city often 50miles is enough to a daily commute. Its not a long road trip cruiser, and neither is the husq svartpilen for example.
Add another svart sold because of you guys, Needed a 2nd bike as the pani is awful for going around down and the small back roads. Svart is perfect and does it while looking great
My city bike is currently my everything bike, the Himalayan. But damn that Svarpilen just makes me want to make a Tron suit.
I have a ducati scrambler , I love it . Bought as my first bike it's so versatil
Bought an SCL500 about 2 weeks ago. Great ride, suspension helps riding in the city. Dash is super dim in afternoon sun, even on highest setting. Biggest issue is I had a sleeve come out of an oil jet so its already back at the dealer being worked on 🤦♂️🤷♂️
Enjoy my KLX 300sm I got this year and started my motorcycle journey. I really only take it to work and back. Mid 50mpg yet still can take it out of town.
I got a Ducati scrambler after several years of having vespa in Bangkok. It is an infinitely better city bike to have IMHO than a scooter. You can accelerate out of trouble, merge better, dart into an available opening in traffic better. It has better brakes and is just as nimble if not more-so when lane splitting (50% of your riding in gridlocked downtown Bangkok). The only downside I've found is that waiting at stoplights in the mid day sun that the back cylinder gets uncomfortably hot. This wouldn't be an issue in most American cities with cooler temps and less traffic but in a dense HOT city while I wouldn't go back to a scooter I might consider a non v-twin that is liquid cooled to keep the temps down. The Ducati is certainly a beautiful and popular bike though. Many times when parking at a cafe or restaurant people ask if they can take their picture with it.
I used to ride GSX-R150 for about 2 years, that upgrade to 2018 Street Triple 2 years ago.
Now my little gixxer is more like a project/fun bike for me.
That intro was work of art. You nailed it.
I have a 2018 Vitpilen 401, so no quickshift but shorter tail and the wonderful white paintjob. Its super uncomfortable but I get ALL the looks from old ladies. Absolutely love it
The 401 is fantastic. Owned one for a year. Couldn't agree more with you guys about the bike. Paid $2,800 for a 2020 with 4,000 miles though lol $6,000 is insane for a single.
For me being a big dude 6 foot 280 pounds I would squash these bikes. My commute is a Honda vtx1300r 2006 which is a torquey cruise machine which is truly perfect for me in the city. It’s actually nimble for me and such a blast. I highly recommend!!
1000 miles into the new scrambler full throttle. Love it
I love my 2006 FZ6. The engine is fantastic. The upright seating is comfortable. I added givi side cases. I couldn't ask for anything better for my ride.
Theyre based on the 600 fazer which is a R6 lump detuned. I bought my fazer with 14000 miles on it and rode it 2 years and did 24000 on it until it was stolen from a housing estate in London even though it had 38000 miles on it however it never ever broke down and your FZ6 is fuel injection and will be so reliable. Yamahas have nailed the 600cc sector of inline 4s but in truth whether its suzuki, honda or kawasaki theyre all great apart from old zzr600 from the early 90s that had top end valve issues and some of the 550 shaft drive despatch bikes that had a gearbox weakness as at least 5 of them had out of the fleet of company bikes. The zxr636 were very fast and really good however and i must admit if you get a clean, regularly serviced one you will be onto a screaming lot of fun.
😎👍🇺🇲
It's the old mod'ed out DRZ SM for me.
It was reasonably cheap concerning the the everything that was done to it.
It works great.
I'm old school with a decent lineup of early bikes. The 06 DRZ is actually the newest one.
If I was going to choose from this lineup.
It would be the Husky.
Because it's a bit different.
Cheers from Seattle WA area.
The Svart 701 is the best 700cc single out there for a mostly road going motorcycle! You can wheelie for days has plenty of torque and good hp for a single cylinder, well actually it’s impressive. If it could make 80-85 hp and as light as the Svart is! That would be bonkers! 👍🏻
I agree. Shame they have been discontinued. Don't know how accessible parts are, should you find a good used one.
Well, best urban two wheelers are obviously scooters. And if you want a bigger bike you will be looking at some of the same properties that make scooters great. And one of the biggest factors for urban suitability is not having to fiddle with gears every few meters on red lights and intersections. Get a Honda with DCT. NC 750 even has a cargo space like a scooter.
My BV 400 approves this post. 😎
We have Burgman 650 Executives and they are AWESOME for tooling around town. We can even go to Costco, there is so much room ;)
I totally disagree. I went from a scooter to a Ducati Scrambler in Bangkok. A super dense city with tons of motorcycle and car gridlock traffic. It feels infinitely safer. More power to accelerate, merge, get out of the way etc. Far better brakes and just as nimble. It's not a peaky small bore engine so you you can lug it around in the same gears most of the time and you barely use the clutch with quick shift. Only real downside I've found is the rear cylinder can get uncomfortably hot when you're sitting at stop lights.
I got cb500x 2022 model, bought it in late 2021 as first in my country. I swapped my cb650r for it. It has half of power but it’s the best bike ever sold by a man. 500cc may not sound so powerful but all of that torque is accessible just from 2000 rpm. I rode my friend cb500r from 2016 but it’s totally different bike and engine is totally different too! Cb500r got powerband at about 5500 rpm but 500x got that power instantly from the bottom end, and it really can kick, drop You just from start.. Anyway this bike has fuel mileage 2.8-3.4 liter / 100km when riding max 130kmh, when more it use only 3.9… my old 650r burn 3x of that and felt much weaker than this 500x.. 4 cyl bikes are usable only from 150kmh+ speeds. If somebody is thinking of getting 500x I suggest to buy it and don’t think about any other bike. Get proper exhaust like yoshimura and feel harley-like sound from just 0.5 liter bike ! Go check TH-cam for its sound. It’s really everywhere-go bike!
Duke 390 is the best option for urban
Maybe if it looked as cool as the Svartpilen
I own a Honda varadero 125 and a Honda CB 500 x and soon to own a Ktm duke 690 all these bikes are good for all round usage including highways
haha, i put on nearly 2k miles last summer on a grom as my primary form of transportation. just have to budget in extra time on the long trips as you are not going on the highway and avoid any steep hills :p
Svartpilen is awesome. Im getting around town on a Z650.
I’ve seen people actually riding around my city on groms. I think it’s cool
Ok the script on this opener was one of the best to date. Pure comedy.
Been riding for years but I never knew until now just how much I need a plant wall and man romper.
this was exact video that ı was looking for
I'd take carbureted over fuel injected all day long every day. Take apart your fuel injected stuff you won't be riding home. I can completely rebuild a carb with minimal tools. Including but not limited to a nail file.
Why no Trident 660? It’s easily the best in this class!
Yes! Major snub
I accidentally bought the vitpilen 401 instead 😬 love it!
300 miles on my '23 Svart 401 and I'm loving everything but the mirrors. It's ok on dirt, doesn't mind the rain, and sticks in the twisties better than I expected.
I used to hate the mirrors but after playing around with their positioning, I’ve done a complete 180 and think they are actually really well thought out. Unless you just don’t like circular mirrors (which is fine) i’d suggest adjusting them continuously until you find the position that works for you.
How good is the bike in the rain? Feels like you got good traction? Thanks in advance.
@@josha4913 I've been adjusting them and find they just don't reach outward enough. Also they vibrate so much as to be unusable at highway speeds. I plan on swapping to bar end mirrors. Maybe I'll like those better.
@@ricksanchez2983 I got caught out in a good downpour, and while I could loose traction on aggressive throttle in the corner, it was pretty stable. Despite having significantly more power than my CB300 it seemed to find more traction. No doubt due to the tires. (remember to watch out for that road paint!)
Oh! I forgot to mention: range. When they say "Urban", what they mean is "never more than 100 miles from a gas station".
Sometimes Yammy's so good on so many levels it goes over all your heads
Triumph Speed 400 for me. Perfect city bike.
the only bike or car I will tell everyone im with about when I see one - perfect combo of rare and great thatll make my mouth drop all day
I just want to get a GSX-8S and travel the hills of Switzerland.
I just got one 3 Weeks ago as my first bike. Cruising it through Austria is a hell of a time!! I wish you to get this bike
New CFMoto NK450 worth a look too! I just saw a new video on this model and it looks like it's upped the sub 500cc naked class. CFMoto claims 49.3 HP, 375lbs. wet, and a 270° crank spacing should make it the fastest (naked) with the best engine character and sound! 5000 est. retail not bad too.
Svarts are $4565 for 2023 models at my local dealership. Been eyeing one. Might go try and hassle them down to $4500 out the door.
I would like to add the Triumph Street Scrambler. I recently purchased a 2023 and I can't stay off of it. I've clocked 5000 miles in six months. I highly recommend this bike for urban commuting and weekend getaways. It's a manly mans motorcycle
My first bike was the svartpilen 401 now I have the MT-07. A mix of this two bike would be so cool !
XSR700
Svartpilen 701
@@judge831 wish they were still in production :(
I was considering honda rebel vs SLC, but end up getting honda rebel and I absolutly love it! Personally, if you are trying to drive on road, rebel is better, but if your planing on multi purpose, SLC might be better.
I wonder if SLC have better suspension than Rebel.
I'm about to become a beginner and my pick for my first bike is between Svartpilen 401 and Kawasaki Eliminator.
Nice video on all the new stuff. Yet I’m still stuck in 1996! KTM 300 EXC rebuilt n tweaked. I live at 7200 ft up and gives me the nice piss off everyone noise, since it’s a 2 stroker. Lol. Damn parts are getting hard to find! Style is everything!
Husqvarna 901 svart/vitpilen models would be nutty.
Papa yams back again with 🗣another ☝️
Got that RE INT650 for my urban riding... and all my riding. She ain't the fastest but boy is she pretty.
that honda scl500 is like a vitpilen 401, but 90 lbs heavier. the huskie vit/svart 401 will have a tft display for 2024, great power/weight/price ratio.
Got a vit they where out of svarts. My wrists are used to it now. Was Cheaper than the duke 390 adv.
I would say that ANY RELIABLE mid to low cc ADV or DualSport bike with the right tires, makes a great City commuter IMO 🤷🏼♂️
I love my Svart!
Papa Yammie! 😂. Can you please make a video about purchasing a “Vintage” motorcycle? In my stable (as you call it) I have an Indian Scout Bobber and an Aprilia Tuono 660 Factory. Now I want to add a super old/boxy/classic bike. I value ur advice/knowledge for my last two bike purchases, so now I’d like you to weigh in on making a Vintage bike purchase. TIA
I testrode a Nightster a few weeks ago, same as the Rebel 1100, and the Scout. The HD isn't bad, but its also boring. The Rebel is way too uncomfy seat and ergo whise if youre a fully grown man, leaving the Scout, which is quite nice.
7k on my 401 Fart, and couldn’t have more fun on 2
Yo yam! Love videos and lists of bikes for beginners and what not. I'm a bigger guy looking for a bike that fits me. Most beginner bikes are small. I'm a pretty big guy (6'3 360 pounds). Any suggestions for a cruiser or street/ standard bike that I won't look like an elephant riding an ant and that can haul me around?
Saw a GSXs 8s for the first time over the weekend in the blue color way. I must say looks better than I thought it would but I am still not sure if I dig it.
Yammie really coming at me as I watch this from a downtown office.
Svartpilen:- The only bike to get, hands down
Love the editing style here. Kind of reminds me of Internet Historian.
Just about every head to head review/comparison of the Honda Hornet and the S8 preferred the Hornet. Also, pretty much CFMOTOs' whole lineup can be on this list.
The Trident 660 could have easily made this list….my girl has one and enjoys the hell out of urban riding. Also the Z125 is pretty good…I’ve got one as well as a Z900. I always take the 125 if we’re going downtown, and the 900 if we’re hitting twisties out of town
Intro is on point
I know it's a "generational difference" because you have to pull a choke knob on the DRZ. My only fuel injected bike is an Indian, but I'm keeping the Thunderace - cause choke knobs make me happy!
Best biker intro ;)
