- 🇨🇦 If your MacBook screen goes black when it is tilted at a certain angle or completely pushed back or opened up, also if you see dark dots at the bottom of your screen, I can help you, there is no need to buy a new full LCD assembly. This issue mainly applies to these MacBook Pro 13" and 15" models A1706, A1708, A1707

While I was streaming some videos on TH-cam on my macbook pro, my display turned black. After I closed it and opened it again, it worked perfectly fine. After 15 min the screen turned black again and then 4 thin vertical purple lines appeared. I restated my laptop but it didn't work but when I closed the lid and opened the lid a few times the screen for ok for 2 second and then it again showed purple lines. Please help

What I don’t understand is why is my screen absolutely fine 1/4 open yet when I extend it it turns off.. and my actual whole cable of that shown here is completely broken off

What could be the issue if there is no image at all, but the back light works? Just randomly happened after using the macbook the night before, and when I opened it the next day the screen was black. Did not drop it. Checked at different angles and it stays black.

I have macbook Pro a1502 model, whenever I power it on there is sound but the screen is completely black. There is no physical damage to the screen or the cable. Everything looks fine. What else could be wrong? Pls help
This is a different issue, model, it could be as simple as unplug the LCD cable clean it with some alcohol and plug it back, make sure the battery is unplugged when you do that.
Hi Hamad, I'm in the US. I would love for you to fix my MacBook, but I understand you only fix in Canada. My local Mac repair shop at well as Apple Genius Bar both said they don't solder, and Apple said my 2016 laptop is "vintage" and to replace the screen (which I don't want) plus labor is almost $700!! How can I find a local repair shop that will do the fix you showed in your video?

Good luck with finding somebody. After 23 years, I wont touch them any more . Why? mainly customers attitude on how "great" these Junkers are. Macs are expensive Foxcon crap and basically are throw away computers.

And I did in fact find a repair shop that did the repair for me, and I'm thrilled to have my awesome 2016 MacBook Pro back up and running for another 7 years, hopefully! For those who are interested (clearly not you, Digital Wizard!), the repair shop is Rossmann Group in Austin, TX and they were great!

No sorry that issue only apply to the 2016, 2017 MacBooks 13 and 15", unfortunately if you have a similar issue with yours it will have to be replaced, it can be fixed.
Ok soo my MacBook Pro 13 had had screen replaced,two weeks ago and now after I play some music on TH-cam the image goes black but hase some lines too,you can still hear the music but no image.I can lay with the lid nothing happened unless I close the lid all the way down,the music stops and I put up the lead and the image is back for another 3-4 minutes....after that it goes again black...what can be the problem?is new screen just has two weeks old...

Now this is terrible 😖 mine isn’t going entirely black, but different colorations… but when tilted to about 20degree it displays right. I’m in Enugu Nigeria, anyone knows how to get pass this. Will cost a lot to replace the entire screen. 😢
Hello Hamad. Thank you for taking the time to show this to us. Sadly I'm far away in London so I'm going to attempt this myself and hope for the best. I have very little experience with this type of repair and I see this demands an exceptional level of soldering expertise but I'm hoping that having the same microscope you have (I'm a fine jewellery maker) will give me some confidence. could you please confirm that I need to connect 8 jumpwires from the cable to the base? and (this might be a stupid question) do the wires have to be insulated so not to touch each other? Thanks very much and I appreciate your impeccable skills!
hello, thank you for the note, there is in total 7 wires that need to be jumped and you are correct they have to be insulated as you don't want to short and kill the GPU.

You mentioned 7 wires can you suggest specific thickness and also from your video, I am able to see you are soldering only on top portion, what I should do in the bottom part? Please suggest.
Did you figure it out? What exactly do you need to do it on your own? I know someone whose good a soldering, i just want to know if i need to buy anything for them to do it?

@@jadelacerda5704 I talked to Apple several times, they acknowledge it's their fault but do not help even if it's 1 day passed from the date they put on their website. I contacted the French organisation for consumers. They could actually help but you need to collect a lot of documents, pay for the service to do it or spend a lot of time to do it yourself. I decided not to waste my time on this shit company. By the way, in their store they did not even give 1 euro for that computer, considering that it did not work, even recycling for 1 euro. Can you imagine? And this company talks about CSR... I bought a new PC but mine does work until now with a half-opened screen. Good reminder to throw in the trash.. Apple is not a good company and it has the worst customer service. I wish many people file complaints for the dates they put. It's not fair.

I am thinking to buy a macbook for a repair that i want do do to make some money. I saw one on marketplace. An app in the netherlands where I live. It was a 2019 MacBook Pro 13 inch with the problem that the screen only works if it is between 70 and 100 degrees. I can buy it for 250 euro. But I am 13 so I have not much experience.I did some iMac’s. Also I have a question about an 2010 MacBook Pro. I am fixing it but I don’t get the operating system installed. I have a installation cd from apple self( OS X snow lepord). Made a Micro sd as start drive but it stops in the middle of the loading screen and I have an 128gb Samsung ssd installed inside. Can you give me an answer to try something new? I putted almost 10 hours in it but nothing works.
2019 MacBook Pro don't have Flex cable issues so it must be a faulty LCD that will need to be replaced. As for the 2010 try with a new SSD and do the installation in Recovery mode by just holding the Command+R key while the macBook loads, if it's still freezes after that it must be something wrong the GPU (I have fixed about 50 of them) with same problem. it's the backlight cable also called flex cable
Mine is not going entirely black but displaying the crazy colored patterns covering about 90% of the screen. I'm assuming it is the same issue since it is reproducible by tilting the screen back and forth. Yesterday, I was able to get it working in specific positions but today I got it working twice for 5 minutes only (in different positions). At one point, I was sending email with the lid 90% closed lol
If you get different colors that is a different issue unrelated to the backlight cable, you should have it checked by a local computer store.

Joe - did you find someone in the states to do it? I'm in Lubbock and the repair person here claims "With Apple parts they often come as an assembly. Replacing a screen or cable is the same as the replacement part is the whole top lid of the computer. I don't think they know how to do it here.
@@minneapolisko That is typical of using official Apple components. Instead of selling a cable to sell the entire piece. Car manufacturers do the same thing.

can one use an external screen
Yes you can or you should, some MacOS won't show the external LCD until you are logged in tot he desktop , always make sure to plug in the external LCD before you turn on the MacBook so that it gets detected.
