My personal story with this kit is I built the Zeta 2.0 first, Hyaku Shiki 2.0, then the Delta Plus. I feel building that series in that specific order gave me the knowledge on how to approach the foibles of the Delta Plus.
What's not to love about this ms, it's basically recolor transforming Hyaku Shiki. But try not transforming it too often
Just get two and save yourself the trouble
@@dsleong8328 That is my approach for some transformable MS that I like, such as, the wing gundam variants and zeta. Buy 1 now and another later on.

I just built the HGUC and I'm glad I got this version. Seems to me that the MG's only improvement is that it's fully transformable without partsforming like the HG.
Otherwise, the types of poses you can do are pretty much the same and so is the surface detail. The HGUC is more rock solid in both forms and has a more menacing color scheme.
Obviously if you only like 1/100 then you can go with this version. But if you're ok with 1/144, the HGUC might be the better buy.
I think its a great idea to revisit some of the older kits you've done, just to give it a modern perspective

The Delta Plus is so damn beautiful
Sadly, my kit now has some broken parts. Both foot guards. Well, they were thin to begin with. I do not find much issues with it.
Aside the current broken pieces which are now just surviving thanks to super glue. Thinking of adding some support in the back side of said footguard
This was my first mg. Absolutely loved it.
I built this kit not long ago and apart from the engineering on the feet i love this kit to death.
I was probably doing it too hard, but the c-clip on the chest broke when I was disassembling mine for painting. Other than that single part, I think it's a decent kit that looks really cool
(Before watching video) Thanks so much for making this video as I have wanted this MS for yours. The transformation is unique in that it almost passes as real aircraft and not an MS turned upside down; I love it, too. Joint modding sounds like a must-do for this one.

I have this as my 2nd master grade. I was drawn to it because Unicorn was big at the time and I love transforming mechs. But because both MS and Wave Rider mode looks so cool, I transform it very often causing the joints to wear down. I still find it decent overall.
One thing that I didn't like is the rifle. I wish they gave it the Novel version rifle which looks cooler.
I picked this kit up years ago and it's not perfect but man, is it a great kit especially on an action base. I want to get another eventually and paint it up like the Hyaku Shiki.
I tried to transform mine recently and broke the thing holding the cockpit into the torso. He is now just kind of standing in my shelf. Still good looking, the cockpit is still able to kinda sit in its chest hole.
I love my Delta Plus even still after it taking a bad fall and some parts breaking. After seeing this I'm definitely going to buy another one
My only issues were the actual transformation. That white piece on the chest ended up snapping off. It was an enjoyable build and i love the end results but if i get this kit again im only going to keep it in either the transformation or the mobile suit form only
I like this kit, fun build, neat design. It's a lot like the 1/72 Macross kits from Bandai, really cool for what they can design in plastics, just need to temper your expectations. I'm working on the 1.0 zeta, then the S-gundam , and so far, it's awesome to see the evolution of transforming kits.
Looks cool and imposing, the 1/100 size is great but the 1/144 HG is probably more my speed. Nice concept of a review, as a longtime viewer I like how you’ve tweaked your style over the years, and I’ve always appreciated how you haven’t chased trends and just build what you like, which I happen to mostly enjoy too. It shares many design elements with the Sinanju Stein, like the leg side vents/thrusters and back skirt. The legs on that kit are also heavy
I find that old kits still have a charm in them. I bought the mg zeta plus a1 about 5 years ago and i still love that kit despite its age. May not be the best to pose around but he displays really well
I built this kit around a year ago from today, saw it at a hobby store and wanted to see if it was as bad as people said it was. Really if you get it on an action base and don't transform it too often it's a good kit.
Very convenient timing! Im getting one tomorrow to use in my next conversions project and was wondering how the frame hold ups being a decade old. Iv always loved the design from the series but I have stayed away from it for a long time largely due to negative reviews and the unfortunate flimsy transformation gimmick of older kits
Looks good. Would look cool next to a Hyaku Shiki 2.0 and the Zeta Ver.ka
It would be really great if Bandai could start including some parts-forming options for these MGs for areas compromised by the transformation. I get that they want MGs to be as accurate as possible, but they must realize most customers value the mobile suit form way more than the transformation.
it’s in my backlog . i love the Delta Plus very much so i just ignored the complaints and issues with it. not sure if i am going to paint the clear piece with my red gundam ex marker
I really like this kit, it's pretty good considering it's a transforming kit. I think the Zeta Plus is is also a fantastic kit. I have never thought old MG's were nearly as bad as some say, but I acknowledge I'm biased as most of my favorite MS were released as older kits.
This might be my absolute favorite master grade if it weren't for the transformation kind of sucking. I love the design so much, and especially the way the inner frame pokes through on the legs
Are Dry transfers more like water decals or like stickers in their appearance when applied to a kit and then top coated over?
Dry transfers are the most realistic looking decals as they have zero “film” around the printed decal. So you won’t have any outline at all and it will appear that the decal itself is actually printed on to the MS. But they can be tricky to apply correctly hence waterslides are much more common
I love the design of the Delta plus, and all other Delta/Hyaku Shiki Variants. I buy any kit that comes out based on them. Most recently the Hyaku Shiki Crash. Need to grab the Kai while it is on p-bandai.
I like how you mentioned the Kai, I pre-ordered mine around the time you made this post. I didn't even hesitate when I saw it( despite it's price). Definitely worth it compared to paying $200+ everywhere else online. I'm still waiting but sheesh I'm excited for it. I hope you were able to get one too.
@theobservantgentleman735 I did grab the kai. Also grabbed the mg 2.0 clear armor version. Skipped the raise Cain due to the price and that is was just a gold crash. Trying to find an SD next
If the Delta Plus came out after the Hyaku Shiki 2.0, I think some of the instability would have been solved. The ankles are literally the only issue. I still like mine though. It is in my Unicorn display. It has only fallen once, and that was probably my fault.
I like this ms but my favorite still has to be the zeta plus c1 and the hummingbird variant
Back then we got all sorts of MG kits and look what we got now.....1 regular release MG in 2023....yeah.
Imagine Gundam UC was release after pandemic, there's no way we are getting Delta Plus in MG. So...take for what it's worth guys
For its time, this was probably the best transforming kit vs any of the Zetas. My only gripe was the challenging transformation sequence that I sometimes had to intentionally disconnect a part or two just to transform it. Got a 2nd kit years later so that I could display one in Waverider and the other in mobile suit form.
if this did get a 2.0 or a 1.5 maybe it could take a few pages out of the zeta ver ka like the how the legs stay in mobile suit mode and a slight different placement on how the feet handle its own weight and maybe have some spots on the runner to lead to a delta gundam mg?

2.0 ver are not going to happen on this kit anytime , its not that obsolete yet unlike the MG GPO1 and MG shining gundam etc. those old kits are in really need of 2.0 treatment, but im sure bandai will going to have p-bandai other variants of this kit with added some new parts to improve some of its flaws, so basically its just going to have 1.5 ish but just with other variants of MG delta plus

Need a Delta Plus or Delta Kai for sure, only different shoulders and head and weapons which could easily be sorted by just one extra runner buried inside a monochromatic box of course
Does this kit have a history of being a hand grenade? I snapped one together for the first time a few months ago and it seemed overall totally fine. It was no better or worse, no more or less fragile, than any of the Zeta variants that have come out. Maybe I'm just not handling mine right? :D
Not a grenade but loose jointed string puppet. It cannot support it's own weight, especially the nosecone/shield.

I have the MG Delta plus as well. And along with it's more unique look, a steady hand is also required for transformation. The parts of the shoulder connections are surprisingly fragile, making transforming it very tricky...
So it really is better to choose a form and stick with it. OR buy 2 and just transform one of em'😅

Little chance for Bandai to make that happen. Since, the majority of ver. Ka kits are main protagonists MS

Correct me if I'm wrong, is there not a Geara Zulu MG ? I looked around but nothing came up, it seems weird to not have a MG Zulu since it's the main grunt for Unicorn

Seeking clarification for the uninitiated. As someone who hasn't been building gunpla for long what's the issue with ABS?
ABS is a heavier plastic compares to PS, and it is more prone to breaking as a result of things like paints, panel liners, and handling. One of the most notorious cases is the Sinanju Ver.Ka. It had an ABS frame that would often break at the waist where the upper body connects to the lower body.

Problems with MG shield too heavy, so in a long run it will bend the body, also the leg joint... Oh boi i really hate the leg joint implementation...
I always thought there was a running change to improve the frame, because i recall intitial reviews being awful and subsequent reviewers (years after) being more positive
Got this guy recently.
So what I did was torture myself by watching decade old reviews of guys screaming at this model kit as I was building it. Everything that fell off in the videos I cemented together. And for almost all the ball joints, hinges and pegs I used the dspiae joint strengthening pen.
The real issue with this guy is the PLASTIC. It is very brittle (I have cracks in the torso, toe, back wings). But they are minor. The real issue is how bad the plastic marks. I basically used a glass file on all the exposed plastic. It took days.
Hit this guy with a Matt Topcoat and you have one of the nicest MGs on your shelf
Heard it was a hand grenande. I'll just stick with the MG Shiki.

TY so much sir for the review, I was very skeptical on getting this kit. As far what I know personally this kit has issue and is a literal hand grenade to have.
Well the lore was that Delta's frame is too weak for transformation during test flight & the prototype is converted into Hyaku Shiki. Guess Bandai was loyal to the lore.
rather than a 2.0 treatment I'd rather have it as a Ver.Ka.

Buy Two of these kits. Leave one in Wave Rider Form and the other in mobile suit form.
I think the Delta looks cool, but man, what a bad kit for longevity. Being a Polycap kit makes its joint extremely finicky, and you need to put a lot of extra effort into being worth it.
I know I'm going to be in a total minority here but I'd rather they just made two different kits for transforming suits. The extra engineering bumps the price up and I really don't care if a model kit tranforms or not.
i find a lot (not all) of the complaints surrounding "hand grenade" kits come from people expecting them to act like action figures.
I agree. My ReZel is weak in standing pose primarily due to the transformation parts at the hips. Doubt i'll ever transform it.
