Red Harlow is kind of a Prototype for John Marston with a Little of Jack too, he have a similar Appearence and backstory to them, even The Scar on His face
John Marstons model is literally based on Red. When they were working on Redemption before it was truly Redemption it was originally going to be a sequel and you play as Reds son who would’ve looked like John. Eventually the character of John was created from that concept and the rest of the story was made as a spin-off series instead

I hope someday Rockstar will bring back Red Harlow. If you like both Red Dead Redemption games and you’re waiting for the next one, I highly recommend playing Red Dead Revolver if you never have. It is nothing at all like Red Dead Redemption, fair warning, but it’s a classic and it’s amazing to see how far the franchise has come. Rockstar could have easily axed the franchise after Red Dead Revolver, but if it wasn’t for that game, we wouldn’t have this amazing franchise today.
Imagine a young Dutch, and Hosea coming across the best gunslinger they’ve ever found. Self proclaimed, and true at that, ‘one shot kid’. Red saved them from the reaper on several different occasions… But Dr.Strauss, law, and justice comes along.. The days of lawlessness are over. Luxury is found in bigger jobs… Red gets to drinking, and loses himself.. Hosea and Dutch don’t have the heart to discard him, after everything he’s done for the posse. Dutch starts to pick fun at the faded Harlow, drunk off his gourd.. From then on, Red became “Uncle”… A fairly nice substitute for used up.

I like the idea that Red Harlowe existed but was also an exaggerated tale, and Red Dead Revolver is that exaggerated tale rather than a historical account, which allows it to fit within the timeline.
Exactly, I love that idea too and a lot of stuff in the games support that theory. I don’t see why so many RDR fans get up in arms and actually start arguing with others over theories neither of them can disprove or prove. THEY’RE THEORIES! The fun is to exchange ideas and keep talking about what we all enjoyed. Rockstar understands this and always lets wild theories spread, sometimes spreading them themselves. Why with RDR there’s so much hostility? It’s really pathetic.

It can be Red Dead 1 since there hasn't been a main numbered Red Dead game yet. Those are spin off titles which are released including "Redemption" and "revolver".
@@samzony Doesn't make sense, Read Dead Redemption and Revolver are there own separate titles under the Red Dead franchise, they wouldn't make a 'Red Dead' game, they'd just add another word e.g. 'Read Dead Rebellion'. This isn't GTA where main titles are numbered and spin-offs are subtitled, that would be like R* naming GTA VI, 'Grand Theft Auto'.
Imagine if Rockstars next game wasn't called Red Dead Redemption 3, but Red Dead Revolver. And was claimed not to be a remaster, but a glorified remake with the same engine from Red Dead Redemption 2. I'd personally love to learn more about the history of Red Harlow and play as him once again.

if i remember correctly, in RD Redemption 1, if you rested at NPC campsites they would talk about Red Harlow as well, his deeds had become kinda legend to the point where it was difficult to tell truth from fiction. and given how interesting and wacky some of the events in RD Revolver were compared to the more-realistically grounded RD Redemption, it makes sense that the events of Revolver would be considered folk-tails by the events of Redemption. much in the same way in Real Life of how the deeds and accomplishments of many of the famous gunslingers and outlaws of the period were highly embellished, untrue, or glorified as years went by and rumors and stories spread. it's a good way to clean up their own lore too if they ever decide to revisit Red Dead Revolver and tell a truer, grittier, more open-world tale with it someday
Honestly doesn't line up, both in timeline and character drive. Reds primary goal was bounty hunting and avenging his parents. He got his vengeance in Red Dead Revolver and went on to live his life as a bounty hunter. This was in the late 1870s, Early 1880s, and Red was barely 23. He would not be in his 60's in time for RDR2. And even if he was, Red Is still a world class bounty hunter, he would not join the gang, he would be hunting them.
I personally love how since the OG Red Dead didn’t really match the vibe of the Redemption games, they soft-retconned it to be an old frontier legend you hear about instead of just ignoring it entirely. Makes me wish they’d bring Harlow and his story back in a modern prequel to the Redemption games.

Red Harlow did everything in the first game with relatively early revolvers and weapons. If he had the weapons from read dead redemption 2 he would’ve been unstoppable.

That cannot be Red Dead "Redemption" series. Redemption is the series that needs a main protagonist to be dead at the end and other protagonist takes redemption/revenge path. The game can be a Red Dead game but can't be included in Redemption series.

Reds hardest fight was a young dutch. Red lost that fight, but dutch offered him a spot in his crew, reds like an uncle to dutch, hence red's new name, uncle.
John Marston was actually meant to be Red Harlow. You can tell by John's overall design, with the facial scars being the most obvious clue. But R* decided to create a stand alone story instead of continuing Red's. They just added him into the lore because why not. He made Red Dead.
That's only your theory which isn't making sense at all. John doesn't have scars similar to Red. They clearly knew what they were doing since they were making another Spin off title, not a "revolver" title.
RDR3: Dutch & Hosea's backstory, Chicago days (1870s-1890s) RDR4: Finale, Jack's story, WWI. (1920s) Whaddya think? They could remaster RDR & RDR1 too. If Rockstar covers the entirety of the Van der Linde gang (and of course, Red Harlow), they have the opportunity of an already legendary series. A series millions of people would *love* to take part in. RDR1 and RDR2 were hits, imagine if they did Dutch's backstory with references to Red Harlow. Jack's story could even get intertwined with the Mafia. A lot of it seems repetitive, like how much *more* could they add, but it's not just about the gameplay (although it is a lot, but we know it'll be amazing still), it's about the fans that connected to everyone in RDR2. It's NOT an understatement to say millions of people want a continuation of the series.
I hope they end Redemption how it is, the two games tell the perfect story together. But there's no way they're done with Red Dead as a whole. Whatever they do I'll be excited

Maybe uncle is the rat, going off the theory he was red Harlow too. His goal was to take out all outlaws, but then he got to old to gunfight, so infiltration as a double agent was the next best tactic. That’s how they knew where John was in rdr1 🤷🏻♂️

It would’ve been cool to see him in rdr2. He was on his 20s in read dead revolver which took place in 1880. He survived his storyline and could’ve been around uncles age in rdr2. Could’ve been cool to see him as an old man but he was also a bounty hunter so he wouldn’t have coincided with Dutch’s gang

I always liked the concept of RDR3 taking place between Red Dead Revolver and RDR2 and telling a duel narrative of having an older grizzled Red hunting Dutch's gang and having a very young Arthur and John around and maybe touch on Arthur's relationship with Mary and things like that. I don't know how they'd do it but still a cool thought. I really wanna see Red come to the modern times in all his glory or maybe a soft "reboot/remake " of thr original game with connections to the Redemption games so instead of having RDR3 we could have "Red Dead:Reloaded" or something

I like the idea that Red Harlowe existed but was also an exaggerated tale, and Red Dead Revolver is that exaggerated tale rather than a historical account, which allows it to fit within the timeline.
Exactly, I love that idea too and a lot of stuff in the games support that theory. I don’t see why so many RDR fans get up in arms and actually start arguing with others over theories neither of them can disprove or prove.
THEY’RE THEORIES! The fun is to exchange ideas and keep talking about what we all enjoyed. Rockstar understands this and always lets wild theories spread, sometimes spreading them themselves. Why with RDR there’s so much hostility? It’s really pathetic.
Honestly that makes the most sense to me. I see it as Red Dead Revolver is the story of Red Harlow told as folklore throughout the West. Much of what happened in the story really happened and much of it was exaggerated

@@samzony Doesn't make sense, Read Dead Redemption and Revolver are there own separate titles under the Red Dead franchise, they wouldn't make a 'Red Dead' game, they'd just add another word e.g. 'Read Dead Rebellion'. This isn't GTA where main titles are numbered and spin-offs are subtitled, that would be like R* naming GTA VI, 'Grand Theft Auto'.
Imagine if Rockstars next game wasn't called Red Dead Redemption 3, but Red Dead Revolver. And was claimed not to be a remaster, but a glorified remake with the same engine from Red Dead Redemption 2. I'd personally love to learn more about the history of Red Harlow and play as him once again.

if i remember correctly, in RD Redemption 1, if you rested at NPC campsites they would talk about Red Harlow as well, his deeds had become kinda legend to the point where it was difficult to tell truth from fiction. and given how interesting and wacky some of the events in RD Revolver were compared to the more-realistically grounded RD Redemption, it makes sense that the events of Revolver would be considered folk-tails by the events of Redemption.
much in the same way in Real Life of how the deeds and accomplishments of many of the famous gunslingers and outlaws of the period were highly embellished, untrue, or glorified as years went by and rumors and stories spread. it's a good way to clean up their own lore too if they ever decide to revisit Red Dead Revolver and tell a truer, grittier, more open-world tale with it someday

Honestly doesn't line up, both in timeline and character drive. Reds primary goal was bounty hunting and avenging his parents. He got his vengeance in Red Dead Revolver and went on to live his life as a bounty hunter. This was in the late 1870s, Early 1880s, and Red was barely 23. He would not be in his 60's in time for RDR2. And even if he was, Red Is still a world class bounty hunter, he would not join the gang, he would be hunting them.

I personally love how since the OG Red Dead didn’t really match the vibe of the Redemption games, they soft-retconned it to be an old frontier legend you hear about instead of just ignoring it entirely. Makes me wish they’d bring Harlow and his story back in a modern prequel to the Redemption games.

John Marston was actually meant to be Red Harlow. You can tell by John's overall design, with the facial scars being the most obvious clue. But R* decided to create a stand alone story instead of continuing Red's. They just added him into the lore because why not. He made Red Dead.
That's only your theory which isn't making sense at all. John doesn't have scars similar to Red. They clearly knew what they were doing since they were making another Spin off title, not a "revolver" title.

Whaddya think? They could remaster RDR & RDR1 too. If Rockstar covers the entirety of the Van der Linde gang (and of course, Red Harlow), they have the opportunity of an already legendary series. A series millions of people would *love* to take part in. RDR1 and RDR2 were hits, imagine if they did Dutch's backstory with references to Red Harlow. Jack's story could even get intertwined with the Mafia.
A lot of it seems repetitive, like how much *more* could they add, but it's not just about the gameplay (although it is a lot, but we know it'll be amazing still), it's about the fans that connected to everyone in RDR2. It's NOT an understatement to say millions of people want a continuation of the series.
I hope they end Redemption how it is, the two games tell the perfect story together. But there's no way they're done with Red Dead as a whole. Whatever they do I'll be excited

If red dead 1 ever gets a remake I really hope the intro includes a shot of John being told the story of red Harlow. It'd kind of make you have to play rdr2 as johns prequel, rdr as the story johns being told in the cutscenes then rdr1. It'd make it fit so well

I always liked the concept of RDR3 taking place between Red Dead Revolver and RDR2 and telling a duel narrative of having an older grizzled Red hunting Dutch's gang and having a very young Arthur and John around and maybe touch on Arthur's relationship with Mary and things like that. I don't know how they'd do it but still a cool thought. I really wanna see Red come to the modern times in all his glory or maybe a soft "reboot/remake " of thr original game with connections to the Redemption games so instead of having RDR3 we could have "Red Dead:Reloaded" or something
Red Harlow was %100 a precursor to John, they look so similar and I think they were probably going to make a game were you play as red in rdr1 but then made it a different character that just looks very similar
