i laughed at “so unless you’re rolling around in the dirt” and then i remembered i’m an archaeologist and i am in fact lying in bed with dirt on my face rn
😂 I’m in the same line of work, maybe the algorithm is matching archaeologists to cleaning videos.
And I’m an ocean swimmer… so I get at times grit, sand, grime. 😮
I can definitely respect that you have to look after your skin if you’re doing that. I bet you have to use a fair bit of sunscreen too, I know I burn so much easier after being in salt water.
Yeah heavy equipment mechanic in an underground mine lol I feel this 🤣
For smooth glowing skin:
1 - Staying hydrated is key. It helps. Try to consume at least 2 liters water every day.
2 - Using riceeberry face wash from litleextra daily is part of my routine. Although I occasionally skip this step due to impatience. While it works, daily application is crucial for results.
3 - I avoid any kind of soap etc.
4 - I stay away from junk food.
5 - I do 30 minutes of exercise everyday.
Together, all these steps helped me to get good glowing skin without any acne, dark spots and pimples.
I used to have clear skin. However, lately, I began experiencing acne breakouts. I didn't know that the harsh face wash I used was actually drying up my skin. Once I switched it to this gentle cleanser and used a moisturising cream with it, all my breakouts stopped. Thanks Litttleextra ricebeerry.
The key is to do all of these consistently for 6 months at least and NEVER stopping once u get the results. I got the perfect glass skin following these things and so much more (ie no alcohol, sunscreen, raw veggie smoothies every morning, 7 hours of sleep) until I slowly started eating those junk food again and all of it is gone now 😂I still do every single thing here and don't even eat a lot of junk food - just fried food and sweet treats 3-4x a week. Getting that perfect skin is really tough work, unless you're blessed with good genes.
@@derrvielThough you don't see any results on the 1st or 2nd week?
Adding the rice berry vitamin c serum and face cleanser into my daily skincare routine has made an amazing difference. I'm very happy with it.
@@Sunanda-Raju-jr-82 can u mention the name of those products u use?
Love your fresh and entertaining way of providing valuable education!!
Thinking of how over the last 3 years you guys have become my holy grail for skincare and helped make my skin tonnes better. I used to spend a tenth of my salary every month trying and discarding skincare products and now it’s down to 3-5 which really work for me. Thanks, from the bottom of my heart. Will really miss you guys if you ever stopped making these videos 🥲💜
I’m an esthetician and I’m always looking forward to your new videos! ☺️🙌🏼
Double-cleansing is absolutely a must for me and the proof is written on my white towels! On the rare occasions that I've skipped my double cleanse there is always residual makeup on my towel. Love DHC oil or Banila Clean it Zero and giving myself a mini facial massage in the process.
Farmacy came out with a new "Clearly Clean" balm which is the unfragranced version of their green clean balm! It's amazing!
I always get pumped when you guys recommend a product I'm already using, makes me feel I'm doing something right😂
Thanks for the vid guys and thanks for sharing your knowledge experience and expertise! I’m an esthetician at Heyday and we double cleanse for every treatment to be thorough. I look to you guys for information tips recommendations etc and I can’t stress enough just how valuable a resource you guys are not only to me as a professional but also to the general public who struggle with conflicting information. When I fill out my client records and notes at the end of the day I play you guys on shuffle. I’m sending so much love thank you so much!!! ❤️❤️❤️
I started double cleansing with a Korean oil cleanser followed by a gentle cleanser. It was such a game changer for me. It repaired my skin barrier because I didn’t have to scrub the heck out of my face anymore. Thank you for all the wonderful videos
What’d you use
Same for me! I have psoriasis, rosacea and periorificial dermatitis that flare up with stress or cold weather and double cleansing helped my skin barrier so much.
@@SS-cq6wc Hadolabo cleansing oil and Cerave Oil Gel Cleanser
What did you use?
@@SS-cq6wclol I hate when people don't share the products that saved their skin
I started double cleansing last year and it has been a game changer for my skin. It drastically improved my skin tone and texture. I only double cleanse at night at the end of the day. I work as a nurse and double cleansing makes sure I get rid of all accumulated dirt/sweat. I am fully committed to my Korean skin care routine and recommend Pyungkang Yul cleansing oil or the Axis Y Moringa cleansing oil. I follow that with Klairs Gentle Black Foam Cleanser. ❤
I bought the Pyungkang Yul cleansing oil because of this comment! My rabbit really liked helping me unbox the oil (he knocked it over like 5 times lol). It feels really nice and the smell is pleasant.
This ! I’m so thankful for Korean ginseng oil double cleanser. I’ve been grinding with skincare and always actively looking for products that will transfer my skin until I have my “perfect” routine
Hello! I am a student nurse and just started double cleansing. I was just wondering if it's useful to double cleanse if you're excessively sweaty after wearing masks for long periods or after doing hard tasks or even working out.
Double cleansing helped drastically with my skin flaking from Tretinoin.
I use softymo speedy oil cleanser. I cleanse with this TWICE. My skin feels clean but also my peeling has stopped completely. To me this is a huge win. I SWEAR by tretinoin, but I hate that sometimes I peel on my chin and nose.
Interesting! I never thought to try it for that.
what cleanser do you use?
Gonna give it a try because my skill is flaking as well from retinol
Which cleanser? What's your skin type?
Hey am also using tretinoin can you tell which cleansers you use
I like how every skin comparison videos always use some sharpening to make the problem seems worse, or to make the result seems work
I used to double cleanse and had little bumps on my forehead and chin. My derm recommended I stop so I did and all my bumps have gone away. With that be said, I also don’t use makeup at all so I imagine it’s different for people that need to get makeup off! 😊
of you're using spf you really should be using a balm of some kind to take it off. water cleansers don't fully remove them. but if you don't wear spf it doesn't matter
Idk if the doctors mentioned this, but some oils with an abundance of/combination of certain fatty acids can feed a fungus called malassezia, which in normal amounts is fine and found on the body naturally, but off balance can cause fungal acne (looks like small bumps everywhere). I don’t have fungal acne but I do get seborrheic dermatitis sometimes which is also caused by malassezia so I have to be careful which oils I use to double cleanse. Squalane is good for this since it isn’t an oil but a hydrocarbon
@@philliplee7658 could you drop a link of the one you use pls?
@philliplee7658 does micellar have any type of this oil to trigger?
@@alyssabarajasyourrealtor micellar waters dont have oil and are generally safer to use for acne projects skin
It definitely matters which one you use. Some don’t remove everything, some are too stripping. Really gotta listen to your skin and learn what it likes. I love the farmacy one!
DHC's Olive Oil cleanser is my absolute favorite 1st step - rinses off so clean, love the olive oil ingredients!
In a pinch if I struggled to get off mascara, I've definitely used a moisturizer and it absolutely worked. Wouldn't use anything pricey, but a basic moisturizer does the trick.
I started double cleansing a year ago and my face is looking better than I was at 20 years old
This actually helped me a lot. I am an underwater performer and I wear a lot of true underwater makeup and sealers. Really strong stuff. Thanks for this
underwater performer is the coolest shit ive ever heard in my life
I definitely double cleanse when wearing makeup and in the summer when I’m reapplying my sunscreen much more often. This time of year my skin doesn’t tolerate quite as well. Farmacy does have a fragrance free version of their balm. Tatcha also has a beautiful balm
Double cleansing has been a game changer for my very dry 56 year old skin. I love DHC. I also love a grape seed oil, it works great to dissolve makeup and waterproof mascara, and it washes off easily without leaving skin feeling dry.
Do you use pure grapeseed oil or a cleanser with grapeseed oil as a base?
Great video! Thank you for posting this information. I’ve had a lot of sun cancer and live in So. California so I need to use sunscreen everyday without fail. When I first started applying sunscreen each day, I was not double cleansing and was breaking out in my late 40’s. I thought that it was the brand of sunscreen that I was using until my dermatologist told me that I needed to double cleanse! No more break outs! And, my skin looks so much better 👍🏼
So informative, Thanks, Docs! And BTW, so glad you are BOTH there. You two teach and entertain synergistically, so no more solo sessions, please!
thank you for this epi as an esthetician, i double cleanse at night when ive worn makeup and sunscreen during the day and it helps. My derm disagrees but i still do it but only occasionally
Love this!! So happy my hubby got me hooked on your channel ❤
I've been double cleansing for 10 years and I cannot live without it. Cleansing oil is my favorite thing to use because it's very affordable, lasts a long time, and is super effective at removing sunscreen and makeup. For me, micellar water irritates my eyes and cleansing balms are hard to control in regards to how much product you use, so cleansing oils make the most sense to me. Hada Labo and the kose regular and/or speedy ones have been my favorites over the years. Currently I've been trying the Elizavecca olive oil one and it looks like it'll be another one I recommend and will probably repurchase. I have oily skin, so I love a good lather, and the shiseido perfect whip cleanser makes a great thick lather that washes away the oil and makeup residue
Thank you both!!! I just love learning from you two! I tell all my friends about your advice!❤
The Beauty of Joeson cleansing oil and the cleansing balm are both great.
Your videos are always informative and very helpful. Thank youuu 💜✨
I really like the naturium cleansing balm! I feel like it’s a great dupe for framacy and i love the farmacy one
I got into skincare pretty heavily at the start of the pandemic, as did a lot of people. Double cleansing is one of my favorite things. I finally added tretinoin to my routine about 3 months ago.
At 54, my skin looks phenomenal and the best it ever has in my lifetime. Just a few weeks ago, I met a woman a couple years older than me who asked how old I was how old I am. When I told her she was stunned. She thought I was a decade younger. I'll take it!
Keep up the amazing videos, I've learned so much from the two of you over the years. ❤
If you don't mind me asking, what is your am/pm routine?
@jillclement
morning: brief cleanse, vitamin c, Sunday Riley lactic acid, and moisturizer/sunscreen.
Evening: double cleanse, copper peptides, wait about 15 minutes, then tretinoin and heavier moisturizer.
I really only have one item that I can't live without, and that's Sunday Riley lactic acid. It really smoothed out the bumps in my skin. I use it daily without any irritation.
I use a chemical exfoliant mask about once a week in the evening and skip the tretinoin that night.
@@rosem6885thank you for sharing!
You should try cold creams too! I love the Chifure Washable Cold Cream. It feels so luxurious
I know it might not be popular but I have used Ponds cold cream for years. I have dry skin and it helps keep my skin moist. I also use Retin a. I have very few wrinkles and a nice texture to my skin. I have started using a foaming cleanser in the morning.
The Ordinary Squalene Cleansing Balm then QV Face Gentle Cleanser (Australian Pharmacy brand and a favourite with dermatologists here), mature dry sensitive reactive skin here, I use tinted mineral sunscreen every single day, mascara, tinted brow gel and lip tint. My dermatologist recommended these cleansers when I had destroyed my skin barrier, I love the process of a short massage with the cleansing balm, all the sebaceous filaments on my nose disappeared within weeks of starting this cleansing routine about 3 years ago.
DHC cleansing oil followed by Vanicream cleanser. My favorite combo 🤌✨
Exactly what I use too!! But I alternate with DHC and Hada Labo cause DHC is more expensive 😅
I don't love double cleansing, but I do enjoy cleansing oils, like Paula's Choice ,that emulsify. Lately I've been using CeraVe Foaming Oil Cleanser which removes makeup well but requires immediate application of moisturizer because it removes all oils from any skin.I'll probably stick with this because it's good and easy.
I've been using moisturizer to remove makeup for decades (over 4!)! Back in the late 70's, pre internet, and pre-sunscreen too, I found that it was very effective at removing my eyeshadow and mascara. They didn't really have a lot of expensive moisturizers back then, and I was unaware of any makeup removers.
Vaseline works well also and is cheap
I like the Elf cleansing balm. I've tried others and always go back to the Elf.
The Geek and Gorgeous cleansing balm is excellent! I like cleansing oils but love this balm.
I really appreciate this input. It confirms what I had concluded myself. I appreciate as well your product recommendations. Love the Bioderm sensitive micellar water It’s great stuff.
50 y/o with still pretty oily skin & often a breakout or two at any given time. I wear full makeup to even skin tone as well as help w/ oily appearance. Being oily, a setting spray is a must to get through the entire workday.
I have found that the Dermalogica PreCleanse works very well, though its liquid consistency often means I need to take my contacts out first.
For the last couple of months, I've been using Clinique Take the Day Off balm - works well & doesn't require contact removal. It's *slightly* less effective than the Dermalogica, but 1. goes on sale more often and 2. avoids the hassle with my contacts.
I follow either up with my normal cleanser. I exfoliate with Dermalogica microfoliant (usually evening unless I'm going makeup-less on the weekends) or Clinique exfoliating lotion/toner. Followed up by moisturizing products depending on makeup wearing & skin condition (level of break outs, or dryness). SPF if I'm heading out & will be in the sun more than it takes me to walk from my home to car to office building.
Loved this video!! I use LRP sensitive skin micellar Ultra water for my first cleanse and then LRP gentle hydrating cleanser for my second. My 14yo loves the Versed balm for her dry skin to remove spf etc.
If you want an absolute beautiful experience, the Elemis yellow cleansing balm is amazing!! Just very high priced!
2x cleansing helped with my (bad) SFs and brightened, clarified and smoothed my face. It made quite a difference. I used Glow Recipe's balm. I have oily-combo skin.
Have double cleansed for years. It's the only way to be sure you're getting makeup and pollution off. If you have to budget, coconut oil or grapeseed oil from the grocery store work well.
I also have used hair conditioner to cleanse and remove makeup for 20 yrs. I even use hair conditioner(V05) in place of bodywash in coldest darkest driest winter. Yes, it cleans sweat and generic ick but it doesn't strip the skin to do it so you can shower and not be itchy afterwards.
DHC is my go-to oil cleanser.
If you’re exploring Korean skincare, Ariul’s micellar water is great!
My two favorite dermatologist🎊❄️🎉
The versed regular cleansing balm is so good. I bought it bc i was in a pinch and that's all my drugstore had and I've not looked back.
I've been double cleansing since way before it was a thing. When I use makeup, I remove it with an oil-based cleanser otherwise it doesn't really come off, but my skin is already oily and I always need another detergent afterwards to make me feel clean. I can't imagine how my skin would look like if I didn't, but I bet it would be way worse than now!
Thank you for validating my thoughts on oil based cleansers and balms. I use neither and my skin doesn’t suffer for it.
Can you guys do a video on growth factors? I love your channel and would love to hear more about what these are and how they work in an anti aging skin care routine
Buying a Growth Factors is so expensive.
Double cleansing tends to dry out/dehydrate my skin so I noticed that it works well for me if I only use it a few times a week.
Dr. Maxfield is such a beautiful man. Have mercy.
😅
They’re both not bad lookers 😂
Dr. Shah not too shabby either 😂 They are both easy on the eyes and their personalities are a plus as well 😊
I double cleanse with a cleansing oil and then a foaming facial cleanser. Followed by an essence, serum, moisturizer and a sunscreen. I'm 55 and have no wrinkles and can go makeup free all day, every day.
Can u tell me what a essence is thank u
What serum do you use

Love these videos! Would love to see one on products for rosacea.
I’d love a video on the under eye masks. Which ones are the best and the ingredients we should be looking for for the best results
I’ve loved the Hada Labo cleansing oil for double cleansing since hearing about it from another derm! It’s very sensitive-skin friendly, no fragrance, and affordable :)
I also use Hada labo Gokujyun Cleansing Oil 🤗🤗
Body Shop Chamomile Cleansing Balm is the best i used so far, its unbeatable at getting off my waterproof mascara.
Having tried both, I find double cleansing far too harsh and drying; leading to more blemishes. I only use NON water resistant sunscreen and a single cleanse works better for me and only in the evening. It took me a year to realize I was cleansing too much.
I agree. I do it when I use makeup but to do it everyday I find it harms my skin rather than improves it.
Which sunscreen do you use?
I used to double cleanse, but I feel I don’t need to do it anymore. I like to use a very gentle cleanser like Vanicream or La roche Posay. Afterwards, I use a hydrating and alcohol free toner over my face and neck to remove any leftover dirt and residue with a cotton ball. I follow up with a very hydrating Korean toner that has ceramides, hyaluronic acid and other emollient ingredients. I just try to keep it simple.
Can you please do a video on Korean skin care and whether or not it’s superior, worse, or about the same as American skin care?
Thank you so much for making this video ❤
Amazing and informative video as always fellas. Would love to hear your thoughts on tinted vs untinted sunscreens
I use plain sunflower oil as it breaks up all my makeup, and doesn't sting my eyes. Then I use a gentle foaming cleanser and that seems to do the job🤷♀️
Love your content. I recently started using Ava Estelle skincare … hope you can do a video about skincare for darker skinned people soon and how oils seem to help us a lot for protecting the skin barrier and fading pigmentation
I have oily but sensitive skin and double cleansing ruined my skin barrier. Since the oil cleanser was great at preventing congested pores, I now only use a gentle Korean oil cleanser and so far it's been working really well. It's unusual, but I haven't found anything online that says it's a bad idea, so I'm going with it for now.
I try double cleansing such as with oil...and it won't work for me....I prefer cleansers with salicylic acid... that it suits me ..
Same, I feel like my rosacea gets worse. Now using micellar water
@@iriname micellar water always irritated my skin, even the Bioderma Sensibio. Oil cleansers seem gentler to me, although not all of them. My favs are Dear Klairs Gentle Black Fresh Cleansing Oil and iUnik Calendula Complete Cleansing Oil. Both are very simple formulas and made from mostly plant oils.
@@jordillo777agreed about bioderma, now I’m using CeraVe
Same happened to me. I have oily sensitive skin. Cleaning oil always irritated my skin. So im sticking to my bioderma micellar water as my first cleanser thn i switch between salicylic acid face wash mild gel wash
In Japan and Korea there's another category of "first step" cleansers which are cleansing creams/lotions. I find them less stripping than cleansing balms/oils because they are kind of somewhere in between straight-up lipophilic and straight-up hydrophilic.
Y’all have to try geek and gorgeous mighty melt. It’s so awesome!
I ❤ the Tatcha Indigo cleansing balm !!
As always, very educational video! Thank you! Please could you do a video on probiotics in skincare? They seem to be very popular now.
Can you please do a video discussing Dr Brandt skincare and your thoughts?
As well as a video on how long products last and open products, etc. 🙏🏼🙏🏼
Elemis cleansing balm is the best for double cleanse and CeraVe Cleansing Oil (really more of a gel) for one and done.
I love the elf cosmetics cleansing balm.
I use the DHC cleansing oil and the CeraVe face wash. I love them both
I have combi to oily skin. I wear sunscreen and tinted moisturizer every morning. Ever since i started double-cleansing once at the end of the day, never looked back! Really makes a difference with preventing breakout.
I started using an oil cleanser recently and immediately fell in love with it! I have comedonal acne and oily skin, so I was always scared to use any oil on my face, even though it made sense that only an oil could dissolve the oil in my pores. I decided to give it a try and it has really helped remove sunscreen, makeup, and oil buildup in my pores. It rinses away effortlessly with water and doesn’t leave any greasy residue, so I’ve found that I don’t necessarily need to do a second cleanse afterwards. I’ve been using it a couple times a week and can’t imagine being without it now. So all that to say: if you have oily skin and/or comedonal acne, it might be worth giving an oil cleanser a try. You might be pleasantly surprised!
Which one did you use?
It’s the Beauty of Joseon Ginseng Cleansing Oil. There are lots of other lightweight options that would probably give very similar results, too.
@@SweetCarolineElizaI use this one too and love it! I don’t double cleanse either. But I’m wondering if I should?
@@zimtapfelIt’s definitely worth a try to see how it goes, and it may vary with the season? Maybe a second cleanse strips your skin too much in colder, dry months but works great in the heat.
Good ole Albolene is my personal favorite
please do a video on different forms of vitamin C, product recommendations, and things to keep in mind for each form. Love from Nepal....🤗🤗
I've been using a cleansing oil as my primary cleaser for years. I feel it works best with my skin. I wear sunscreen everyday and double cleansing daily is too stripping.
I do like the oil based, so i started one in the morning and maintained a gentle for the other.
@dr.shah can you please do a video on your favorite sensitive combination/acne pro skin fragrance free - silicone free products?! @DOCTORLY
I love cleansing balms and tried many good ones, but the elf one is cheap and does the job!
I wear makeup and double cleansing is a must, oil cleanser first (currently using softymoe) and then I alternate for my second cleanser benzoyl peroxide twice a week, currently using perricone but have used drugstore regularly. I love double cleansing.
I have been doing a double cleanse for about 3 years now and my skin looks and feels so much better. I am someone who wears makeup almost daily and I want to make sure to get all of that off along with all the other gunk at the end of the day.
I do double cleanse to remote sunscreen or make up. I do it with a cleansing oil and then with cerave and it works for me. I will continue doing it.
Dr, please a video about cloged pores for dry/sensitive/normal skin. How to clean (should/avoid oil cleanser/balm etc) & how to treat cloged pores until achive clean skin.
What about for those of us with very dry sensitive skin who wear heavy petrolatum based moisturizers and/or ointments and non-water-resistant sunscreen everyday and no make up?
My skin is oily and I get a lot of black dots in my nose that never go away, I follow a good skin care routine with cleansing, exfoliation etc but my skin always looked dirty. Oil cleanser really helps me to deep cleanse my skin, I never looked my skin so clear before and I feel I’m seeing better results with all my skincare products.
I have the same problem, which brand do you recommend me to start with ??
I use Noid’s Sanskrit Saponins, which is a cleansing balm. Doesn’t need to be followed up by another cleanser. Works amazing !
Hi can u please talk about cleansing in children after wearing strong waterproof sunscreen? Thank you 😊😊
I’ve been using coconut oil as my first cleanse for YEARS. It’s so gentle, effective, and cheap. Plus no worries about chemicals.
Coconut oil is very moisturizing
I use the Inky List Oat Cleansing Balm, and the Yes to Avocado Daily Cream Cleanser. It took a lot of trial and error to find what worked best for me!
Make video about how to treat dry hair.Should you shampoo more or less with dry hair? Also tell what does dry scalp mean. Do you need to oil it more or less?
Thanks for the conditioner hack. When traveling, I don’t always want to pack my cleansing oil.
Careful with putting hair conditioner on your face if you're acne prone, it can really clog your pores.
@@jordillo777 I will keep that in mind. I do have issues with cleansing balms. I have less problems with cleansing oils. The balms are so thick. I’ve even noticed with makeup that anything too creamy (cream bronzer & cream blush) causes issues.
I love double cleansing! it’s game changer for me, now I rarely get acne. I use cleanser cream, wipe it with cotton pads, then micellar water, finally face wash.
So that's triple cleansing then, 3 different cleansers.
I LOVE Farmacy Green Clean, a bit disappointed in the Dermatlgy Oil Cleanser.
Before cleansing balms and oils and micellar water, we used cold cream or cleansing milk for removing makeup. These were effective and gentle products and still they were much cheaper. With cleansing milk there is much less residue left after cleansing and -the oil in water emulsion- leaves the skin refreshed hydrated and clean. Never needed a double cleansing.
I use Elf cleansing balm then follow up with Cetaphil cleanser. My post menopausal skin looks great.
Double cleansing changed my skin sooo much. I rarely get a pimple now and used to break out every week! I use The Ordinary's Squalene cleanser first at night without water, then SA Cerave Cleanser.
inky list oat cleansing balm is amazing!!!
