It's because the more days it takes to shoot a movie, the more expensive it is. Between catering, lodging, equipment rentals, payroll for the crew, renting the location/sound stage, and other associated daily costs, it adds up very quickly to the point that, depending on how much each part costs, it can run a production thousands if not hundreds of thousands of dollars per day of shooting.
That's why reshoots are frowned on by the accountants and why the budgets of movies that require extensive reshoots quickly balloon out of control.
I'm not saying you're wrong in your assertion that a short shooting schedule isn't beneficial to the quality of the movie, because more often than not movies with low budgets and short shooting are crap.
The movie Friday only took 2 weeks to shoot.
@@TheEmbessyNetwork To be fair, that movie was a lot simpler to shoot; there weren't any elaborate effects, crazy stunts, or exotic locations. The majority of the movie was near or in only a few houses in a suburban neighborhood, and there wasn't any deep, complex story that required hours of reshoots for the editors to make sense of the plot.
Okay, but this movie got a worse Rotten Tomatoes Score than Cats, and that isn’t justified
I think part of it is that with cats you're already expecting a hot mess, and if nothing else it's still entertaining. It seems with fantasy island a lot of people felt bored, annoyed and ripped off.

When I thought the premise was gonna be more black mirror in the sense that your brain was read for your deep and disturbing desires in a lifelike simulation and then when things go wrong and people are confronted with the dark parts of their minds and theyre like “stop the fantasy” the tech doesnt respond bc lets say they still want the stupid twist ending you can still say that one bitch wants them all to suffer

I get Blumhouse’s model: have a production budget under $10M, limit filming to 20-45 days, use established B- or C-class celebs (they’re not “too” famous i.e. expensive but not totally unknown), release the film around an interesting theme OR around a “holiday” (incl. novel holidays like Friday the 13th), make money. Let's wait until teenagers and adolescent grow old and companies will reboot classic cartoons such as "Phineas and Ferb", "Adventure Time", "Ben 10", "Regular Show", "Rick and Morty" and things such as fidget spinners, "Minecraft" and "Fortnite". Because Hollywood milked all awesome 90s and 80s stuff.

I say that because she was on a show directed by the pll director but it ended up being cancelled, and she is now the protagonist on a riverdale spin off series!

I thought it was going to be every guest is actually there for someone else's fantasy and it's a cycle. The trailer had that line "we weren't brought here to have our own fantacies, we were brought here to be apart of someone's else's" and I was excited to see that twist but it never happened and nothing was clever and I was disappointed.
That would have been a hella cool twist!
Technically that is true since they're there for Michael Pena to see his dead wife and she dies when their fantasies are over. So in a way, the poster spoils the movie but not unless you watch LME, then you get your spoilers for free!

When they come to the island they can get what they want, according to Mr. Roarke. Ariana Grande's 7 rings song was about her getting whatever she wants kind of. That connects in a way because people are "getting what they want".

There was actually another Truth or Dare movie around the same time with more or less the same concept. It was... also pretty bad but bad in a different way? It's R-rated and Saw-level gruesome, suffers from mostly unlikable characters and terrible effects, and doesn't ultimately have much point beyond shock value, but man the shock value is damn unforgettable. It's at least a bit more creative than, "I dare you to kill someone!!" although I don't think I'd actually call it better.

Sounds like he's the Dollar Tree version of JJ Abrams; JJ is the same way - he comes up with great concepts then ruins them because he has zero idea or talent to see them through.

The last scary movie I watched before Fantasy Island was The Turning. The Turning made me so mad that Fantasy Island was a welcome relief.
They have low budgets bc they want max profits. They earned multiples of their budgets, they have cash. I hate when ppl fake being poor for sympathy.

Bruh, people are so annoying with biting every small mistake, a person when making a movie isn't supposed to automatically realise what doesn't make sense, and the movie was fun to watch. I saw this a week ago and the ending just made me go “oh.” It came out of no where. There were no slip ups in her act the whole time. The only clue you had was the photo of her and the guy which only showed up TWO times. I definitely think this should’ve been a Netflix movie

To me, honestly, it just ruins movies if i see the same actor since it doesn't feel as authentic no more. Like, knowing that specific character/actress was for example superman, doctor, officer or soldier or whatever just throws the movie off idk at least the role. Hence why i never lookup their names neither what they look like outside the movie so it keeps every movie (even with an actress i've seen before but forgot the looks) enjoyabe
It was bad, but I have to admit, I cried at the end. The fact that Brax stayed on the island so his brother could be alive and go and live his life just really got to me for some reason.
I cried at the scene with the dad... that was pretty touching tbh

I see “Blumhouse” and I expect both Lucy Hale and a terrible movie with a likely unrealized decent concept behind it. I see Maggie Q and I hope for better than either Blumhouse or a Lucy Hale anything can provide. At least I got to see Maggie Q in a movie.
Blumhouse made one of my favorite movies ever-Hush. Although the main is kinda cringy because she shouldn't have survived.

I legitimately had a fun time with this movie. I was yelling at the characters’ stupidity and how most of the plot points make no sense, but that kind of shit usually makes me and my friends laugh instead of getting angry. I regularly watch absolute shit horror movies on purpose, so if you think this is one of the shittiest movies you’ve ever seen - just know that it gets so much worse and this is actually not bad on the horror movie scale 😄
It was very entertaining in my opinion, but I guess critics jobs are to constantly look for plot holes cus other than that this movie was a good watch imo. I mean it’s a Fantasy controlled by a big crystal it’s not like I was expecting it to be bound to logic.

I’m 56, and I remember the show very well😉. It aired after love boat on Saturday’s, and was quite popular. For the time, the show did have some 😎 moments.

They would likely only become superhuman, as the fantasy of being a super saiyan is rooted in the desire to be powerful. If that desire then, were in fact based on a perceived inadequacy, or as part of a deeper-set issue, it's easy to see how bad things could get.

This movie upset me so much. My dad is the literal biggest Fantasy Island fan and when they first announced they were making a movie version, he told us that all he wanted for gifts last year was for my family to see it with him once it came out. Almost as crazy as when he first heard about the A-Team remake. When they released the trailer and he found out it was a 'horror' movie, .....it was bad. He is now boycotting all movie theaters.

I watched this movie at a drive in with my ex boyfriend on Valentine’s Day. We didn’t watch the movie very much and I still know the entire plot and was not impressed 😌

I watched this movie in theaters and about halfway through, a commotion started happening in the back of the theater because some Karen was mad this girl was using her phone. The two stood up and started cussing and almost fought and when it got settled down some guy said out loud “That was better than this whole movie”

Basically they go to an island we’re there is a host who has to grant everyone’s fantasy or he doesn’t get to be with his dead wife and a girl goes there and her fantasy is to get revenge on everyone who were responsible for her boyfriends death and they are all told they are gonna get there fantasy’s but they are all part of the girl who wanted revenges fantasy and all their fantasy’s lead to their death but the host decides to free them and he lets a girl from one of the fantasy to get a fantasy and hers was for the girl who wanted revenge and her boyfriend to be together forever and her boyfriend comes out of nowhere and kills her

Just watched the movie on Netflix.
I think it got a pretty good start. Simple rules, you know something will be going south but not yet what exactly.
I felt the conflict of military guy was great, caught between keeping has father alive AND be a hero.
The torture scene going too far so she changed her mind.
Even the party bros "having everything, so someone is going to take it away eventually" was okay.
What confused me was Gwen's second fantasy and the realization they were part of someone else's fantasy.
A: If she wanted to change something that day, why change the "she could have saved the guy" part, not the "don't leave the stove on and start the fire in the first place"!?
B: If bringing all of them together and revenge that guy's death was Melanie's fantasy, why did she get revenge on her bully? Wasn't that a second fantasy, too!?
"But you saved me." "It was all an act."
Was her part a fantasy inside her fantasy to take revenge on her bully as part of her revenge for that guy?
What really annoyed me though was the conclusion:
Melanie revealed her twist.
Peñe had to let go his ever dying wife to save the groups lives.
Sloane drank some of the water to get her "fantasy" which killed Melanie.
Melanie tossed the grenade which Sullivan took to die a hero (because nobody simply tossed it back in).
All of that within like 5 minutes. I could not even comprehend what was happening and why. It felt like "well, that's all the time we have today...."
I also didn't get how J.D. would live on away from the island. Does the island's power work anywhere
I mean of course, it did abduct Sloane....
And why was Peñe's wife always dying? The island brought her back "like when we met". Was she terminally ill from the start? Or was this to put pressure on him to get her back with each fantasy?
(My impression was, she was dying every day.... Maybe I missed something....)
All in all a quite good build up to a disappointing finale.

I like to hear your opinions because you are younger. I used to watch the original show when I was a child. All I can really say is remember we only had three channels to choose from. It came on right after The Love Boat on Friday nights. We all watched it because there wasn’t anything else to do if you were home.
Only good thing about this movie is that it has an ending

On Valentine’s Day 2020, I saw this movie in theaters. That day I was especially upset about getting ghosted by someone I liked and was talking to. Later in the day as I was going home from school when my bus got hit by a car. No one was hurt, but I was 2 hours late coming home. My sister and I had made plans to get dinner and see this film at a mall we live near. As we pulled into one of the many parking lots, a car hit us going around 30 mph. Hit my side of the car pretty hard, and did some pretty major damage, but again, no one got injured. The car was totaled. As the aftermath of the accident was getting sorted out (insurance info, etc.), the temperature was in the single digits. Around 9 degrees Fahrenheit. I wasn’t wearing a jacket, only a light hoodie. A few hours go by and I am totally frozen at that point. My sister and I decided to still see this movie, as she already paid for the tickets and such.

I feel it would've been much cooler if it wasn't exactly supernatural, but instead sci fi and actual actors with crazy good makeup were playing the other characters such as the wife and dad as a social experiment, and they would've actually captured the bullies for torture for some kind of weird social experiment, where they studied these people's lives and knew how to manipulate them
well I remember the tv show, and thought this version was a very neat idea. Not perfect but still a lot better than the whiners are complaining. The storyline was consistent, they brought it together at the end, and I was entertained. In fact, I'd like to see more going even darker, maybe R-rated, or definitely more x-files-ish.
I feel like the only thing critics point to is the plot holes, no complaints about acting or how the movie was shot on that budget. It’s an entertaining movie if you aren’t trying to pick it apart the entire time.
To the film's credit, the island setting & hotel look so luxurious that I would like to live there.

You know I was annoyed at the start and annoyed at the end but in the middle I was having a good time. A little disjointed and a bit like a bunch of thoughts that weren't given time to come to fruition (where did the evil version of bully girl come from and what was the point of her?) but it had some really fun moments.

Budget is never the problem. It's the storytelling and script. There are many films made close to the 1M mark that are amazing movies because of the story and script. If you try to juggle too many characters and plots in a short amount of time, the overall move will not be as effective. No one will really feel attached to any specific character. There simply isn't enough time to explore their arch and development. I think one of the reasons you don't see many fantastic horror films now a-days that do have great story and characters is these ideas gat shot down a lot. They are harder to get a green-light on.
