  • Do you know how to descale a kettle without using expensive chemical products? Vinegar is the easiest and cheapest way to completely remove limescale. Just boil the vinegar and give it some time to dissolve the limescale completely (length of time will vary depending on the severity of the problem), this will leave your kettle gleaming like new. Regular descaling also extends its life. So next time your kettle has lots of floaters and looks like it's on its last legs don't rush to the shops, just reach for the vinegar bottle instead - it will do the trick at considerably less cost.

I remember hearing that vinegar was a solution to kettle limescale, and since I'm cleaning up all the little neglected areas of my life, the kettle is also part of the equation. So thank you for outlining how to do this. I'm on my way out to get a small bottle of vinegar.

How many times do you have to boil it after to get rid of any vinegar taste?

I rinse the kettle and boil water just once

@@k-nemo Thank you x I did give it a couple of boils just to be sure. I've only had the kettle about 3 weeks and not all the scale came off. I live in such a hard water area. Maybe a glass kettle wasn't such a good idea because you can see it ..lol.
