    I've been watching numerous videos unsuccessfully, trying to find out if I could code using this thing before making a purchase. I eventually gave up and just bought it. However, right after I got it from the courier, even before opening it, I found the answer here! What a relief that the answer is yes. :) Thanks for the great video. It's time to unbox my new Quest 3!

      How is it for coding? Considering getting this for a small workspace as a way to have multiple large screens

    • @thedeveloperadam
      @thedeveloperadam  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      @@ChrisLaupama it’s doable totally doable but I’m not quite sure it’s there just yet for this to be done for a 40 hour work week.
      It’s hard because personal preference does play a huge role in terms of what’s acceptable and what isn’t.
      I know this doesn’t help much but that’s the reality of it, I don’t think you’d regret getting one but I’m not sure we can use these daily “just yet”
      I’m doing a comparison video soon between the AR / VR for productivity/working weighing up some differences and there is some exciting stuff on the horizon for 2024 😊

    Vision Pro is out now and many reviews all over the net. In general it does sounds somewhat better in pass through and hand gestures. I am not interested in gaming much, more productivity and it sounds the quest 3 is about 75% of the Vision Pro. Of course the Vision Pro is better in a number of ways, but, from what I have read, it just does not look to me to justify the price of 7 times higher than the quest 3. So I have just ordered a Quest 3. This video was a great help in decision making. Thanks so much for your video.

    Dont know why no one is mentioning that your audio channels are only coming out of one ear. at the intro, it's only through the right, and after it's only through the left. My advice is to look into how you can get your mic to record in mono. Unfortunately, I can't give you any more specific advice than that because it depends on what mic/system your using. Hope you figure it out. Cheers!

    Great video! No mainstream channel has done this. The quality of your video/voice over is that of a large channel. My only critique would be the length of the video. I personally don’t have a problem watching A 27minute video but I think even less people will make it to the end of the video than a 12 or 15 minute video. You just got yourself a new subscriber :)

    • @thedeveloperadam
      @thedeveloperadam  ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Thank you so much for this :) I'm just trusting the process in that overtime my videos will get better the more I create!
      Yes I agree with the length it was a touch call because I wanted to cover enough to actually demo properly for people and if that meant less views then so be it this time as hopefully it's a helpful video for others!

      the virtual monitor are very clear, the most giant one you can create is around 4k and probably a bit more than 1440p perceptible. mixed reality is really blurry, grainy and just not as good as in videos, but pretty much usable for everything. i've spent like thousands of hours in vr so any headset isn't heavy for me, and i can work with it (multiple monitor and a laptop) for hours, as the same as watching movies or doing home stuff while watching youtube, in full mixed reality without any issue. it's just a personal feeling, if you're comfortable with the headset, how much a grainy augmented reality will stress your eyes, how mich light you have in your house, how much you're hyped bout that to trade off all the cons, and so many other parameters. the only suggestion is try it and decide after that, still remember it's a vr gaming console before a mixed reality headset

    24:00 Almost anything I cook gets grease or spots or something on my glasses. I hate the occasions when I forget to take them off while cooking. Its just the hot air coming off the food seems to bring some stuff with it in the rising steam. I love the idea of cooking with a pass through camera and a virtual display showing a cooking video. However isn't this going to just get the headset all kinds of messy? Also while the video of the pass through looks great, from countless reviews the actual real time experience of it is pretty terrible by comparison. Could you even see well enough in real time to cook?

    • @thedeveloperadam

      It depends what you mean reading text inside the app like on the virtual monitor? Or reading text through the pass through? Inside the lenses and inside an app I’d say the text is like at least 1080p+ it’s not as clear as 4k where the text is almost solid there is that “blurryness” to the individual characters if that makes sense? But it’s genuinely readable and I’m quite particular of resolutions as I look at text all day

    Nice video. Don’t think i will be using it for work though. How does your passthrough looks so good? Or is that just the recording? Passthrough always seems to look half decent in recordings but in realtime on the quest 3 it’s nothing like in your video. Virtual screens are crisp and clear but wearing the headset isn’t practical for me, its just not comfortable, specially when you have to keep taking it off because the passthrough isn’t good enough. Its great for what it is and fine for most games but its no where near what vision pro appears to be. I can’t see me using it for work - i have the same kind of setup as you and I’m not even going to bother adding the quest to it. Just too uncomfortable and the passthrough isn’t good enough for work. I’d. love to see a video of you working a week with the headset, very different to just playing with th possibilities…

    • @thedeveloperadam
      @thedeveloperadam  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hey man thanks for your comment!
      Yeah so the pass through isn’t as clear as the recording but it isn’t hugely far off like I can read text on my phone or screen but I certainly wouldn’t be able to work that way but inside the headset through the lenses I could for sure!
      But as you say they’re not the most comfortable things never have been a head strap upgrade does make all the difference as it did with my quest 2 so perhaps that’s an option!
      I think if you have a decent setup there is no need to work this way right? But it is fun to do so, if I perhaps went travelling or even into the office and maybe only had a crap small screen then this would be a plan!
      I’ll try to do some more videos with like days in the life or some longer hours in the quest building some apps see how it fairs!

      The camera shoots in better quality on the headset than what it shows you through the lenses.

      But I guess wearing it for a full work day would be pushing it...

      @@iskandarhussain honestly I think it’s down to the user. The biggest issue is getting it comfortable, different shape faces etc? A better head strap would help for sure and if I was going to work all day I’d do like a pomodoro and do an hour inside then 10 min break or something
