    It starts at about 10 minutes.
    Short version: just like a hundred other people have concluded, no, this isn’t an effective option to do any real work. This $300 device isn’t a substitution for a $1,000-10,000 desk set up to get your work done. It’s a fun toy. It’s a neat gimmick that you can kinda do some light weight work type things a little bit and for a short time. (And for that matter neither is the $1,500 meta version or the $4,000 Apple version)

      I used the virtual desktop to have 3 screens and tbh, expanding from a 16 inch laptop screen to 3 50 inch screens is a massive upgrade in productivity.

      why mention the quest pro instead of quest 3 (500) when its far superior to the pro? its because you have no idea what you're talking about 😂
      sorry but 6 HD giant and changable portable screens that are cheap isnt worth the uninformed comment you wrote

    • @zero11010
      @zero11010 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @ except you can’t really read because the resolution is off.
      It’s not a knock against this specific device. The $1500 meta quest pro is the same and so is the $3500 Apple vision (though, of the bunch I believe the Apple one is best … but, still not as good as even a cheap 2k monitor.)

      @@zero11010 have you really used meta quest 3? I highly doubt it. Because I can read fine. When I say productivity, I mean office work like word, excel. How can I say it is good if I can't read the text??

  • @richpeltier9519

    The big difference in the optics from 3 to 3s isn't just the screens, it's the lenses. The fresnel lenses in the 3s and 2 have very small sweet spot and create more eye strain. The pancake lenses on the Quest 3 are well worth the extra $200 by themselves. Better screens and IPD is just acing on the VR cake.
    The good news is that since they both use the Gen 2 chipset, they are both capable of running apps at 120 hz refresh rate, which has also been shown to reduce eye strain and motion discomfort even more.

    It seems like Meta should start selling a bundled keyboard/mouse with a Quest 3.
    That + some sort of cloud-based desktop service like Stadia for productivity would much cheaper than what a similarly priced laptop can do.
    Especially when you compare it against other 3+ monitor setup.

      @@sulimanbabar it was quite smooth for me, but not enough resolution for me, 25 PPD isn't enough for a lot of text, for text clarity. It's workable tho, but with compromises. I'm waiting af for 50 PPD version of the Quests, then I would be happy

    Virtual Desktop is far better than Meta's inbuild desktop streaming. Yes it's paid and not free, but it's worth every penny. And if you want standalone apps, I believe the Microsoft office suite has apps for the quest. So there is that. Also for those more serious about using an HMD setup, the quest really is just an android device strapped to your face. And you can sideload most android applications over to it with sidequest. Both VR experiences and flat applications. Your mileage may vary on app performance of course, but the quest has a decently powerful SOC. So if you have a favorite productivity app that's availible on android, go ahead and sideload that sucker and try it out. Got the android version of discord running, a full file browser, and more.

  • @TriMuXx
    @TriMuXx 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    Hmmm, ok, but what if you used a Meta Quest 3 instead? Added a Bobo headstrap with hot swappable batteries? What if you worked inside of the Immersed app instead of using the built in Web Browser? I think there would have been a LOT more success and less pain points if TH-camrs that try this experiment out would try a little more to make it work.
    With the higher resolution of the Quest 3 display and using an app like Immersed for productivity while connected to a laptop/desktop wirelessly would eliminate a lot of the negative of this video. If people that code prefer spending hours working in VR, then a Video Editor should have practically ZERO issues with it for the small part of the day they spend editing footage.

  • @EasternShore85

    • @WorkFromHype
      @WorkFromHype  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You can have multiple PCs connected to the headset but can only view one at a time (through the Remote Desktop app). I’m sure there’s a browser based work around if you really needed it though.

    • @zero11010
      @zero11010 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@WorkFromHype he was messing with you. A virtual PC is basically setting aside RAM and hard drive space and installing a separate operating system on that “virtual” machine and that virtual machine is basically fully functional separate computer.
      If you’re in IT or a software engineer it’s a thing you may need to do.
      For example it lets you build a virtual machine with a specific operating system to build out a server or a database on a “separate” machine, then let the virtual machine the database is on talk to the separate virtual machine the server is on to send data to the client. This mimics how a simple service may be run.
      Or, to test out much more involved set ups like multiple databases running data and trying to update it at the same time while making the data accessible to mimic a content delivery network or the kinds of massive storage solutions larger companies have.
      He’s messing with you. This is a toy. It can’t do heavy computing work.
