Went thought a couple VR headsets prior to getting a Index in 2020. Sold it 1 year later. Picked up a quest last week. Massive improvement in convenience, clarity, and comfort. Quest 3 looks as good as the index from what i remember. I got out of VR because of the wires and hassle. Quest 3 makes it easy to put on and go. I can put it on and not have to keep adjusting for the focal point and it stays.
@@ashwells1059 For people who are nearsighted, playing without glasses is nearly impossible, even if the lenses are right near your face. Trust me, my heavy prescription and I have tried many times, and it does not work.
Great tips! Just got mine today. In daylight it was fine, but in darkened rooms there is almost a foggy looking effect on the lenses. It's definitely irritating enough to ruin the experience for me. Loked liked some other people on Reddit were having his issue. Anyone else?
This video was outstanding. 12 out of 10, straight to the point, extremely informative, & well presented. This got me more excited to purchase the headset than all of the reviews I've been watching. Have you noticed any malfunctions or issues with the headset since using the power bank? Curious to know.
Thanks so much for your comment! Much appreciated! To be honest I haven’t needed to use it much with the quest 3 yet - but I used them 2 years with the quest 2 with no issues. But do more research before you commit for peace of mind. Enjoy your headset when it arrives.
Awesome. Looking forward for the complete beginners video. I have some questions about video quality in the headset, also couldn’t manage to set the boundary manually, only the suggested one.. among other things you should probably cover in your next video, so looking forward to it. ☺️

Thank you for showing that the IPD shows in your display when adjusting it, I have been wanting to know this and not seen a single video that shows that. Well done. In the App it says Far and Near, which one is best to use? My Quest 3 is hopefully arriving today in South Africa from the US.
I think it will be near PD in the app - as everything you will be focusing on will be closer generally - I said the wrong ipd figures so it doesn’t go as high as 75. Thanks for the comment and have fun with your Q3 later today.

Thank you so much for your Vedio it was useful, I have a question before I buyout , I don’t have a PC 😢 so does that effect the experience cos I want to watch movies and play games?
I never use a pc as you can do everything in the headset. The pc experience is better apparently because of the graphics and ability to mod games but it’s not necessary 👍
as far as I know, I'm the first person that reported the trigger and Oculus button recording methods just like another tip I'm giving today & Double tapping your headset for pass-through is the easy method lol also those are all common knowledge, I got a tip better than all of them combined. as long as you have voice command enabled under settings, you can double tap the Oculus/Meta button on the right controller and power off your headset after double tapping the Meta button just say "power down headset" and it will say are you sure, you just say "yes" and it will power down the headset, additionally if you double tap the Oculus/meta button you also can control the volume turning it anywhere from 1 to 10. 10 being 100% volume..
Amazing detail for a complete newbie... Well, sorta. I actually bought an Oculus Rift in 2017. You know, the corded one that also required corded sensors...yuck. It’s awesome in theory but I tried it and it doesn’t work very well because as soon as you press in the grip button the strap slides down over it and keeps it depressed. Sadly going to have to buy some grips.
@@EatSleepVR I ended up taking scissors to my silicone Kiwi grips and they are working pretty well, not the prettiest and they do slip out a little, but it works for now until some good options reach the market. Too bad these are so much harder than the quest 2 controllers to cover without covering the lights.
This is an excellent video, very informative. Out of all the videos i've watched on the quest 3 yours is the first i've found that mentioned how to create multiple displays while on pass through, a feature i've really wanted to use with this device.
Thank you for the tips, very helpfull indeed, safety is the most important as when I got my first goggles they were the gear vr goggles and almost broke my ribs crashing into a filing cabinet, luckily it was just bad bruising. But my gear vr goggles died 2 days ago so I have now just ordered the quest 3. fun times ahead
Thank you for the video. I purchased Meta Quest 2. I like it. But the resolution is not that great, especially when I am in the “environment”. Is the resolution in Meta Quest 3 better? Is the environment crystal clear?
Just bought this! Super happy except the microphone isn’t working. Not sure what to do. Settings for mic and sound are on. Also in the game for example in Gorilla Tag, all chat option is on and the voice option is set on true. What else do I do? Thanks.
Just remember that-if you’re using one of those little batteries with a USB-C plug built in-if you swing your arm and hit it with your hand too hard, you could easily damage your USB-C port, at which point you have until your headset battery dies before buying a new headset or spending a couple hundred bucks to get your USB port fixed. That’s a lot more than a battery headstrap with a _90-degree, angled plug_ that extends as little as possible from the edge of your headset, in order to avoid doing the same, with that...
Neat video. Definitely helps being that I'm new to this vr stuff. By the way does anybody know how incan increase the quality of the pass through video? Mine is very grainy. Or is this normal? Also, when I first used my quest 3 all the virtual images like the pop up windows were buttery smooth when they appeared in my room using pass through. A few hours later these virtual displays have become jittery. Any clue why this is happening?
Very very good. Straight to the info, accurate, no nonsense. Can I just add that you can also tap the controllers together twice to switch to hands instantly. Not a fan of that capsule, though. I've got one and I notice the weight on one side. OK for emergencies but I'd use a third party headstrap with battery when they become available, as I'm sure you will.
Thanks for the comment, much appreciated. I didn’t know that about tapping the controllers, thanks! I’ve got the elite battery strap but I’m not sure if I’ll keep it yet as it’s so expensive. As you say there will be a lot of third party accessories out soon enough.
Here's a tip: nothing you will do can make the strap comfortable and if you have hair longer than half an inch, it won't work at at because it relies on friction against a bald head. You hair will just get bunched up and the strap will loosen. It REALLY shows you what kind of people Meta engineers are.
I findnthe strap really comfortable. You just need to undo the velcro and make it long and it sits perfectly. I can used it for several hours straight with no issues

I’ve read that poor lighting or a change in lighting can affect whether it detects the room or not. Also something simple like changing the wall you are facing to help trigger it.
#0:02:12 I'm sure your wrist is supposed to go through the second loop and not as you have done through the first loop (as what you did leaves a bigger hole and the strap can fly off easier)
Yeah makes sense - I do it this way when I’m swapping with other people so you don’t have to adjust it and you can slip your hand out but yes you’re right the other way is safer.
I need to look at the spec in more detail so I’m not sure just yet other than the capsule one in the video. But definitely go with a reputable brand like Anker for the bigger powerbanks.
I tried a quest 2 for a while and I don't know if this is the same for the quest 3 but the blurring around the edges of vision and low resolution video playback on TH-cam put me off. I sold it, 2 weeks after purchase, for a loss of $100. Also the black and white pass through on the quest 2 was terrible. Very pixelated/grainy. I would only use pass through if I absolutely needed to see my surroundings for a few seconds to pick something up (for example). Also, I found that I couldn't take a sip of my drink with the headset on as the cup would collide with the headset. On top of all that there was the lense fogging (again, I don't know if this applies to the quest 3). I had to leave a small gap around the nose area to stop this happening, which lets in light and distracts from immersion.

one more q:) there is a way to deactivate hand-tracking for sometime so for example if you're watching something you dont' move the screens accidentaly - i can't figure how to do it do you know? they really need to put together just a simple app showing how to do things.
The only work around is to use the controllers and deactivate auto switch to hand tracking - you can then put the controllers down and it won’t switch to your hands
The boxing game is thrill of the fight, it’s awesome. My favourite games include: in-death unchained, thief simulator, saints and sinners, and pesky blinders - 👍
it’s not an app. there’s a wheel on the bottom of the headset and the quest tells you automatically what it’s at when you start adjusting it as long as you have it on your head while you’re doing it
Thank you for speaking in a clear and medium fashion, can't tell you how many videos I try to watch but due to the speed talking/music playing way they are presented I end up getting frustrated and just pass on viewing them.
Yes you can but you might find your lenses knock on the headset lenses - you might want to consider prescription lenses - take a look at the link in the description

The only work around is to use the controllers and deactivate auto switch to hand tracking - you can then put the controllers down and it won’t switch to your hands
What is your favorite game? I like the boxing that is in your video. What is it called? Thank you for the video.
The boxing game is thrill of the fight, it’s awesome. My favourite games include: in-death unchained, thief simulator, saints and sinners, and pesky blinders - 👍
What app do you use for IPD?
it’s not an app. there’s a wheel on the bottom of the headset and the quest tells you automatically what it’s at when you start adjusting it as long as you have it on your head while you’re doing it
Getting mine today. Would get the Vision Pros but too damn expensive.
Thank you for speaking in a clear and medium fashion, can't tell you how many videos I try to watch but due to the speed talking/music playing way they are presented I end up getting frustrated and just pass on viewing them.
Why are half of these options not in the menu for the quest 3 I just purchased?
Im thinking to buy a quest 3 is it possible to wear it when wearing glasses
Yes you can but you might find your lenses knock on the headset lenses - you might want to consider prescription lenses - take a look at the link in the description
Have you a link for the capsule power banks please
There’s a link in the description but they are out of stock - if you search for capsule powerbanks on Amazon you might get an alternative come up
