No they just cycle you to where ever you enter that world from. There's no lives or game overs, unlike Banjo Kazooie. Most likely because it would prove damn near impossible at points. Tooie was much harder in every way but also much more enjoyable imo
I would defeat Terrydactyl in the Terrydactyland in Banjo-Tooie first as of boss battle. Actually you don't defeat Terrydactyl, but the bad pterodactyl did surrender peacefully and gives a Jiggy for Banjo and Kazooie for the trouble in Nintendo 64, back in 2000. Terry will also help you for your quest to get all 4 baby pterodactyls to her mother. Banjo must visit Jamjar alone to teach Banjo a Taxi Pack, and Kazooie must visit Jamjar alone to teach Kazooie to lay an egg.
Over the narrow bridge that connects the bonfire cave with the level, use the golden feather maneuver on the pterodactyls flying over it. That should make it easier. Just a suggestion
to keep true to the timeline of the banjo-kazooie games, i will not start banjo-tooie until i defeat gruntilda (im still looking for jiggies to complete the picture to go to her)
