  • NEW DELHI: With the current India-China standoff in eastern Ladakh showing signs of extending into winter, what does the Indian army do by way of preparation at a place where winter could mean temperatures dipping to 40 degrees below freezing point? At the super-high altitudes of Ladakh, winter that’s just around the corner is no less than an enemy. And planning to cater for the troops deployed at those dizzy heights begins well in advance. This year, there’s an additional challenge: the number of troops deployed in eastern Ladakh is thrice the normal. So how is the Indian Army preparing? In this episode of ‘Simply Nitin’, StratNews Global Editor-in-Chief Nitin A. Gokhale gives a sense of what goes into making Indian troops battle-ready against all odds.

America needs India, more than India needs America at the present moment. Did the American armeda frighten China ? Very good information. I have seen your discussion with Lt. General Sanjay Kulkarni also. The sharing of information in public domain is good to give a sense of relief and confidence. The chinese ploy seems to not fight the actual war but compell us to spend a lot in terms of cost and men and wear and drain us out . They know well we are in crisis financially and health wise and have to pay price at two fronts. Now we have mobilised men , ammo and logistics for 4 months it should be ideally utilised to climb up and pick the cherry . We all know our enemy also watches all our programmes . God is with the brave Jai Hind!

Kindly write this type of negative viewership comment in India today channel where they are showing every single details on ground, zooming every single artillery, tank, weapons which are newly deployed and information are not much available in internet.
Not here! Whatever information here he is sharing is simple basic calculation which any powerful nation know the cost. Not all channel runs for viewership, praise the good work rather than throwing narrow judgement about anything anywhere. Think twice before dropping such comment.

It is best not to give figures for Costs. The "money" is spent within the economy. Of course, any expenditure has an "opportunity cost". When the nation is under threat, you do not consider opportunity cost. If you do not consider opportunity cost, then you do not consider Costs.
There was no need for this video, if you are going to say what each flight costs, whatever that means.

I would really love to see your talk being transmitted to various states in their local language so that the people understand the intricacies, efforts, sacrifices, public contributions from local people on high altitude to the army.

There is a dire and urgent need ( and a good business opportunity also). for translation system for all governmental and non governments national level programmes
It is foolish to believe that hindi is the national language .All 23 languages are official and this should be pursued in full vigour Hindi is for hindi belt .
The other 20 languages of india are too big in population too historical too loved by their respective populations to be suppressed by hindi imposition
All bharathiya are one.But Language difference will always be there
Right from.passport to govt level publications exams etc all languages must be used
Translation modalities must be implemented in news on TV expert programnes on various topics
      Magical results will ensue
Indian unity will be more stronger by this method

@9:45 As you mentioned 5 cr per day for a brigade in Siachen so 1 division per day = 3x5 cr = 15 cr and cost of 3 divisions per day = 3x15 cr = 45 cr
Now imagine from November to April is 5 months i.e., 150 days...total cost to maintain the entire 14 Corps with 3 divisions would be 150 days x Rs 45 cr per day = Rs 6,750 crores for the entire winter months

This are just food cost. Health & fuel cost to be added. 20-30k cr are lowest estimate.
