Great tip Paul! As a lefty I appreciate your description using front leg back instead of right or left. Makes understanding the tips so much easier for south paws.
Hey Paul just wanted to let you know that after watching this video and applying your lead knee trick with the elimination of my arms my swing and power drastically changed. I went from averaging a 250 carry with my driver and 160 with my 7 iron to hitting bombs. I was hitting 300+ yard drives consistently and my 7 iron was going 200 yards. I feel like i have tour level power now. All thanks to to doing less with my arms and focusing on the rotation. I have been hovering in the low mid 90s for a few years now due to inconsitent direction on my shots, your technique not only gave me distance on max rotation speed, but when i dial it down to 80% i have full control of contact and direction, while still gaining distance over my old swing. You are a genius. THANK YOU
I love the fact that your videos focus on speed and how to create it. They make a LOT of sense and they focus on how the body and arms work together. I just started working on your concepts and have enjoyed the results so far. Hope my wife will let me go to your school. Keep up the great work. 3 handicap 25 years ago. I know I have lost my timing which came easy at the time. It’s coming back with your vids - hope to go to your school.
If you haven't tried the easy body swing Paul Wilson teaches, do it now. I've been playing for 50 years (score in the high 70's, low 80's), pretty much self taught with a few pro lessons here and there that weren't that helpful. I watched Paul's video instructions just a week ago and quickly picked up on the easy swing and tension free arms. I hit the range for a few days then a course I haven't played on in 6 months. Results: long straight drives, 3-metal, solid contact on irons - the best ball striking round I think I've ever had. Even on those holes that always caused me to miss drives (you know the ones you always find the trouble on). I swung smooth and it was a thing of beauty. I'm investing in Paul's method, have already purchased the Driver tips and got much more than I expected. Look, everybody will develop their own unique swing, but all must be based on solid fundamentals. And you find those with Paul and Bodyswing.com. As a senior, my distance had been slowly decreasing over the last 5 years. Now, I've got it all back and more. And the key is swinging easy using the Paul Wilson instructions. ** I am not affiliated with Paul Wilson Golf and was not paid for this endorsement. The only loss I hold PWG responsible for is the loss of strokes on my scorecard. So thanks, Paul. Much success with your teaching.
Wow! I never would have guessed how vitally important the position of my lead knee would be to achieving proper coil and thus, more distance. You know your stuff!!!
This is the secret no doubt. I've converted over to the PW swing and even though I havent drastically dropped my handicap (my fault for not practicing) the round feels so much better. No more waking up with my back in knots. Your "miss hits" will actually be better with this system and you have to practice (which i dont do enough). PW is the best instructor and his explanations are spot on.
Coach Paul I never knew this either!!! Kids today don't know how lucky they are to get all this info. Pretty democratic that any kid can come on youtube and learn. Great stuff! Thank you again.
Paul I played a round today and it was going down hill and something reminded me about what you said about that forward knee and then boom! Back to great shots! Thanks!!
Hi Paul. Besides your clear way of teaching and the other excellent videos, this one is brilliant. Thanks for your effort to reach out for Golfers to make their game more enjoyable! Best regards
So stop taking it back with your hands and arms. Take it back with your body. Watch: th-cam.com/video/TFjh9dGkZXA/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/swCw-sUW9Ek/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/g43FFPGJR5U/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/105xxjIJYSA/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/PbR_5Njn9OI/w-d-xo.html
Hi Paul. Hope you are well. I have been using your method for about two weeks on the range, and I purchased the driver video. I took bodyswing to the course and concentrated on the method and was very pleased with the results! My score was higher but ball striking was mych more solid with little effort. (Scores will come later). Only have 2 problems:1) Driver used to hook, now block fading about 4 of 10 attempts. 2) Left wrist is cupping at top of backswing, and feels uncomfortable. Sometimes wrists roll if i don't think about them. Otherwise, I am enjoying the new "freedom" of the swing. All the best, Dennis
Just tried this in the backyard and my knee was basically pointing at the ball in my back swing. Turned it back a little bit and it made a big difference hitting into my net. Much better contact and power.
Hi Paul great video as usual thanks. Can you please demonstrate the difference here, between coiling you lower body with the correct knee flex at address, and as per your prior video where you said to guard against over coiling your lower body in the backswing?
Hi Paul, I bought swing machine golf a few years ago but then I had kids so I didn't play golf during that time. I just started playing again and those lessons have changed everything. I am doing great with irons but I'm struggling with the driver. I don't think it's that I'm muscling up with the driver but more the length of the driver itself. Any tips to finish my transformation? Thanks, Fernando
I think I have one here somewhere on ball position that will be posted soon. You can also go to my membership site; ignitiongolf.com to see more videos.
Hi Paul I think I understand the coil when you get to the top of the backswing should I pause and transfer my weight and rotate my hips holding the club at the top for more coil and/or at what point in the backswing should I transfer my weight and rotate my hips to the target holding the shoulders at the top for the coil thanks for your help kindly advise Jack
You can pause but unless you are doing a drill don't completely stop. I did a tip on the pause here: th-cam.com/video/YMj0fgJe48M/w-d-xo.html Coming down you already know what you are going to do even as you are going back. Once set you apply your downswing trigger. th-cam.com/video/FV8uSZ16Bys/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/RdphthCQ9VM/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/1EC_zeepcr8/w-d-xo.html
Hey Paul can I set up with the weight slightly forward ala stack and tilt ? I find the low point consistently by keeping my weight foreword slightly which helps me make a centred pivot.
Another way of possibly thinking about it is the lead knee is being pulled by the coiling/ turning of the shoulders and hips. Consciously pushing our knee inward actually can break up the coiling of our body from our shoulders downward. Am I thinking correctly about your body swing? Thanks
Yes, you are correct. The shoulders are basically pulling the rest of the body into position. Only think about what is moving the most... your shoulders.
I've been using your effortless driver video series on bodyswing.com and Ive increased club head speed from 81mph to 90 mph and I'm over the moon. I do have one question though, Im getting blisters on my left hand (right handed golfer) on the inside of my first knuckle. Is this a sign that im gripping to hard on the downswing or is it just a calluse I need to build up? My grip on setting up to the ball is probably 2/10 and then on my backswing and follow through is probably 8/10 with a neutral grip. Is this the right grip strength? Thanks! love the lessons and already seeing big changes in my clubhead speed thanks to you.
I here you Paul, now explain how Moe Norman was able to get good clubhead speed without taking that left knee back. When I have used his swing technique I have not lost distance but mu back feels a lot better after I play.
Just been getting a bit confused Paul as some of your vids advocate the ‘stable’ lower body ie. it seems you want the low body to still be where it is and yet to get the knee pointing behind the ball, I feel like I have to turn the low body/hips quite a lot? thanks Rob ps, for an 11 handicapper I shot 3 over the other day...all down to following your technique, buying the Bodyswing and subscribing to Ignition golf!! thanks so much Rob
There is some turn to the lower body, but I see so many golfers over-rotating the lower body. If you over rotate your hips, then you will not get the torque needed to hit the golf ball and will end up using your arms to hit the ball not your legs. A more stable lower body will create more power.
Thanks Paul think I’m getting closer ! With regards to the ‘Swing’ part of the Bodyswing is there an actual swing & if so is that the clubhead or the whole club..arms/hands? And is there a ‘swing’ in the coil back or are you just turning everything into position? Thanks Rob
Thanks , am new to golf and after watching your video's i think i understand your philosophy. I have been hitting the ball tense and rigid. But just after one session on the range using your method , I am hitting the ball alot better and to be honest pain free . Thanks for your time in making the videos . 👍
What would be the most popular outcome if the knee stayed straight. I’m thinking this is my problem. Could this also be the cause to laying off at top?
Left knee or right knee? I am letting people straighten the back knee a little going back to help them coil. Laying it off? Easy. Need more depth. Watch: th-cam.com/video/h5DwT6whCuo/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/wr5uKYjyI1E/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/swCw-sUW9Ek/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/70NSWLjYt0Q/w-d-xo.html
I am looking at the general; area of the golf ball. I am not focusing on one specific thing. But a great thing for you to be looking at is the backside of the golf ball, this can help with any "over the top" move if you have one.
My dad has always had a hard time with this. He has it in his head that he's old, crippled, and too powerless to hit the ball with any speed and velocity even though he was the captain of the football team in high school. I'm trying to convince him otherwise while he is actually still physically capable. He's definitely never going to hit it 300 yards or anything, but if I can just get him to flex his knee in like this, it'll make a huge difference. Hopefully, he won't be too hardheaded to let me help him. I just don't want him to feel defective anymore because right now when he stands over the ball, he can't even imagine the ball going anywhere but short and low.
Here is a great video for you guys to watch: Why Seniors Lose Distance th-cam.com/video/AtEDNcOaOi0/w-d-xo.html I think that by changing a few things and start using physics and not brute strength, your dad will be able to hit the ball longer again.
Hey Paul....I have noticed as I've worked on your coil and uncoiling drills, that at the brief millisecond transition from coil to uncoil where the lower body begins to engage, I feel that hat my lower body begins to engage before the club is fully hinged in the coil..I am getting good whip action and solid contact but is this a normal sensation.....curious...
You want to make sure that your golf club gets to the top of your backswing fully before you start your down swing. You don't want to be moving in 2 directions at once.
I have had 2 lower back surgeries. Rotation can be tough at times. I used to be a scratch golfer. I struggle a bit now. Are you still coiling far enough to get you left shoulder behind the ball as well?
You want to turn your shoulders to your maximum, if your back will only allow it. You don't want to be hurting yourself. You want ot have a good ratio on coiling between your shoulders, hips and knees. If your shoulders turn to 90* then your hips would go to 45* and knees to 22.5*. This would be a good ratio of coiling for you.
I don't mind it as long as it doesn't make you over-rotate your hips into the backswing. If you are just very tight in your shoulder turn, then yes its ok...just a little though. Thanks for watching !!
Hey Paul I been watching your videos for awhile now can you please do a video for people who have chronic back pain and cant take full swings etc. And the method they should use? I appreciate. I myself can only to half swings etc?
Great tip Paul! As a lefty I appreciate your description using front leg back instead of right or left. Makes understanding the tips so much easier for south paws.
You bet!

Yes, this one kills a lot of backswings. Doesn't take long to fix it. This is a great tip. Glad you found it.
Thanks!
Thank you so much for your support. I truly appreciate it.
Another small part of the swing most people just don't think about. Thank you for pointing this out. You're the best.

Thanks for this vital info
For sure. A lot of people hampering their coil out there. They could be hitting it so much longer.

Well I rock back and forth getting to the left to then go back. You might want to do this instead of being static on the left.
Another way of possibly thinking about it is the lead knee is being pulled by the coiling/ turning of the shoulders and hips. Consciously pushing our knee inward actually can break up the coiling of our body from our shoulders downward. Am I thinking correctly about your body swing? Thanks

Never even consider getting behind the ball with the left knee. And this is great to do while warming up "helicopter" thank you Paul
Definitely, need to do that so you coil. If it is straight out you will hamper your backswing coil. Glad you see it.
Yes, I stick my knee attempting to keep my head down....
I love u paul wilson
