I bought Paul’s program a few years back. Prior to that, I couldn’t hit the ball further than 190. Fast forward 3 years of once a week practice sessions and now I hit my driver 250 straight every single time. Best investment I’ve made in my game. Follow it and be patient- totally worth it!

Paul's course changed everything for me too. Previously my drives were 'all over the place' but now I rarely miss the fairway. Have saved oodles of cash by rarely losing any balls.

This drill is super excellent. I tried it and in only 2 minutes, bang, I got the lag, my driver straight forward and further. I've looked for it for over 2 years of golf.
Thank you so much, Paul. You're the master!

Glad you found this one and saw how easy it is to get lag. People out there trying to get it will never get it. This is because they keep using their arms. All you have to do it turn them off. This drill does that as you see. The problem is getting people to keep doing it (which is truly mind boggling). Do that one along with this one. Do it in daily practice swings for a few weeks/month and you will have it forever.

Hey Paul, I know this is a drill, but sometimes I absolutely smash the shot letting the lead arm breakdown and fully hinging the wrist. I'm so tempted to just hit like this because if feels like such a loose and easy swing that produces crazy club head speed. But I imagine this wouldn't work out in the long run?
You're so generous responding to these questions and providing great usable content, I just purchased your program to show my appreciation!
    Congratulations!

I would love it if everyone hit balls like this for a while. As you see you do get crazy clubhead speed. Problem is few will every do it. Think about little kids. Everyone marvels at them. This is what they are doing and they have perfect lag and no chicken wing. They get serious speed with no arm strength. So keep doing it. Maybe you say you are going to do it daily for 2-3 weeks. This will get you the feeling of super loose arms. It will get you perfect lag and no chicken wing too. Then once you feel you have it just keep it a little off the neck. Get used to that. Then keep it off a little more and so on until you have the perfect backswing. See? One step at a time. I have done this drill countless times with students and they all start nailing it. Then I just tell them to keep it a little off the neck. Thanks in advance for the support. I truly appreciate it.

Paul, I am a 74 yr old senior. Hitting indoors recently using a "Trackman" I recently hit a fairway 7 wood 188 yards off the deck using lag. I was amazed in that looking this video here it was exactly done as shown here ! My goal now is the hit my driver with "lag" to generate more distance. This video is excellent in the fact it gives me steps to follow to achieve my goal. More than anything here, and though you don't mention it, this video when followed prevents the dreaded "casting" which is the biggest killer of lag. At my age, I am averaging 210 yards per drive and yet I feel that your method here will get me more yardage soon. Thanks for this excellent video!

Worked on the range for about an hour before a round and was hitting the ball much better. One par five I had a to get the ball up a little higher due to trees.... Grabbed 8 iron usually my 150 club hit it 175 to the green, yeah had a 5 mph wind behind me but felt great... Tap in birdie.. looking forward to use this lesson more and play with a lot less pain. You're welcome. This works great to get lag. Problem is the person tries it a few times and stops. This is a drill that needs to be done for a little while. Maybe a week or two until you unlock the arms and get the lag. Once you do, you then keep the club away from the neck. So you take this one in steps and as you see you get the payoff. Keep at it. You are making a huge breakthrough that will take your game to a whole new level.

Thanks for this! It was worth trying just to get a feel for where the club should be to have good lag without feeling like I'm forcing it.
I'm a pretty new golfer but have played tennis since I was a kid (over 20 years now), so the concept/importance of lag makes sense to me (though I think lag is probably important in almost every sport, to be honest!). I just couldn't find how to make it feel relaxed and reliable.
I definitely didn't expect instant success, but it's been really encouraging to see how much smoother this part of my (very much still in development) swing feels after spending time with this drill.

I think this drill is the best drill someone wants to make smoother swing. most amateur golfers want to have perfect back swing as similar as tiger or rory; they always stretch their left arm in back swing and the results their shot is perhaps going to right it means making slice shot. I want every one knows differences between getting stiff to making power.

You made 2 videos that when you tie them together also helps contact with lag…the video on backswing where front shoulder and back hip separate on downswing…and the backswing where the head moves back ( not still ) and then full extension is a foot after contact…with head staying back….so you maintain lag until a foot after contact….it’s cause and effect..just hit first spring bucket and smoked the ball…totally great instruction…

Hey Paul it’s not as easy as you make it look. You have a great deal of talent my friend because for those who’ve been at it for awhile, the body swing is the most coveted type swing there is. Only a few like you possess it. Hats off!

Well it is easy. The problem is easy is difficult due to people wanting to hit with the arms. So I am doing my part to explain how you are going to get power if you are not hitting anything. If people get the concept hopefully they try it and get success too.

I got sick of my right shoulder coming over the top today and hooking/slicing everything. On the back nine, I resolved myself to just swing with the body and take my arms out of it. All of a sudden I was hitting dead straight drives that felt like zero effort and started hitting my pitching wedge flush with dollar bill divots! I mean the divot was a work of art. Never have I managed to do that before. And I was actually hitting my driver further. Unbelievable.

Im a heavier golfer just returning to the sport after a 20 year hiatus. I've been watching some of your videos and they have been helpful. Any specifically made to address the issues I might find physically from being out of shape. After a couple months, I am still in the high 90's.

    • @paulwilsongolf

There is no difference or compensations. I have taught people of all shapes and sizes without issue. Might not physically be able to do a position exactly as I teach it but you need to get a close as you can. Loose wrists and not hitting with arms is key. Then coiling and uncoiling. Legs and hips are the power source. At high 90's you are out of position. Just master the grip and wrists hinge first: th-cam.com/video/jQZLp8bF-Ww/w-d-xo.html and th-cam.com/video/Z8K3Gctkz7A/w-d-xo.html

    Hi Paul,
Thanks for your great tips and advice which has really helped me stop trying to play like the 8 handicap, 50 year old I was 20 years ago, and concentrate instead on trying to play like the 17 handicapper I now am.
I've just played Royal Birkdale here in the UK today in an annual tournament I enjoy. I was mindful all the way round about your tempo and hinging advice in particular. I stopped trying to get on greens in gross regulation and concentrated instead on net regulation golf.
I shot one over net par - my best ever performance on that tough links.

  • @tuanoful

Well, I gotta say, I never even tought about it that way... i've been to around 6 golf lessons in the 2 years I've been playing and, while I understand there are "levels" of progress in which you learn new things, not one teacher has told me this very simple thing
And I have zero lag. I can strike the ball half decently, but not as consistent as I want and no distance compared to some friends.
The comparison side by side of your student was a an eye opener.

    • @paulwilsongolf

Sorry, I overlooked your comment. Hopefully, you kept working on it. If so, you would have perfect lag by now. This is the easiest way to get so if you didn't work on it start again and stop looking for the answer. It it right here.

This is a great video Paul. One of the biggest challenges to my game is lack of distance. I know I need to get more lag but I always fear "losing the clubhead" behind me when I'm about to take my shot. I think it is way more mental than physical. I am going to practice your drill in my yard and then work my way up to trying it on the range this weekend. I know it will feel odd at first but trust this will be a way to add yards to my game.

    • @paulwilsongolf
      @paulwilsongolf  4 ปีที่แล้ว

Thanks. Everyone wants distance few find it. It is about loose wrists (which gets you lag) and turn your body way faster. Focus only on those 2 things. Hinge and rehinge then do some of my body drills and tips.
      Grip:
      Hinge/Rehinge: th-cam.com/video/5_O0H2QNFo0/w-d-xo.html
Just look for the body tips. There are too many to list here.th-cam.com/video/jQZLp8bF-Ww/w-d-xo.html just do the wrist hinging and rehinging as mush as possible. This is where you get the power but this is connected to your rotating body.

Pro vs Amateur, pros flex their lead arm elbow toward the top of the backswing and the angle increases into impact. Around 8degree at impact. That reduces dynamic loft without adjusting axis tilt or wrist angle. A fully extended left arm leads to hyper extension at the top of the swing and impact. That’s were that achy swollen left elbow comes from.

    • @paulwilsongolf
      @paulwilsongolf  2 ปีที่แล้ว

Well I have helped counted people relieve or eliminate golfer's elbow by loosening up. Who has golfer's elbow? Those with a chicken wing. When you tighten the arms buckle which stretches the tendon on the lead elbow. Once I loosen people up their arms never hurt again. Yes, I really don't like a stiff arm at the top. This tightens everything which is the opposite of what I am trying to get people to do. Not sure if we are on the page with that because my lead arm is most certainly extend at and though impact.

Most amazing drill ever. I was only hitting nerf golf balls against the house but they were rocketing off the club face. The club was literally almost torn from my hands at follow through. I shot video and sure enough, there was as much lag as your pro swing. I noticed that with the shaft on my neck at the top I was way past parallel and there was no way I was able to use my arms to start the swing. The body did it all. And my lead arm straightened on its on during the downswing. The only issue was some lead arm chicken winging and I swung with flat feet but I can work that out.

No need to quit. I have helped countless people in your shoes hit he ball better than ever. Simple is the key. Just do a few simple things and in no time you will have it back. Keep in mind the main issue is hitting with arms. Couple this with working on too many things etc. and it all falls apart. Let me know what your ball is doing and I will get you back on track. In the mean time you can work on lag but I would be working on loosening up the arms first. Loose arms and you get lag as you see in the video you can't even do it if your arms are locked up.
