Went to the range yesterday and used your lesson from last week, free flowing swing and don't worry about the direction the ball might go... what a difference! I was hitting it straight and long, actually much more consistent then when I was focused on trying to hit it straight! Great lessons and can't wait to work on this part of my game! Thank you!
My brother in law took me golfing and I’ve fallen in love with it ever since. Just got my own clubs and watching your videos really helps me understand a lot! Thank you so much!
Thanks for explaining the "distance from the ball". I knew that already, but I needed to be reminded. After a difficult and inconsistent season I found I was lifting the hands slightly just before takeaway, and rocking back in my heels to compensate for the shallower angle between forearms and shaft. Clearly a formula for inconsistent strikes. Now I'll try going "back to basics" to solve my confusion about "distance from the ball".
Danny Maude's video's have enable me to identify what I have been doing wrong and how to correct. Personally watching new content, not implementing until I have internalized the other 2 videos. IMHO gets the why of a problem quicker, and the remedy quicker than other online coaches. Thanks Danny.
I began playing golf around the time Covid was happening. I was never able to hit fairway woods and it got to the point I didn't even bother keeping them in my bag. Then a couple seasons ago I began to work on it in the offseason, I took lessons and practiced a lot. I found that I was doing 2 things wrong...but the main thing was that (like a lot of people), I was trying to help the ball into the air and I had my right hand too far under the club. When I moved my hand around to a weaker position, more on top of the club, it was almost like a reminder to put some downward pressure on the shot. I was always topping the fairway woods, swinging too hard and trying to help the ball up. But once I got over the fear of hitting the ground (which of course you have to do), I began to hit better shots! There are lots of potential causes for people who can't hit their woods, but if I can figure it out, anyone can! :)
This advice is just what I would have asked for!! I struggle so much with my hybrids/FWs that I rarely use them unless it is an slightly uphill lie - I almost invariably top or thin my shots along the ground when the ball is level or slightly downhill, (or above or below the feet). Probably my inexperience means I don't read the lie well enough, and I also think a big point is to have a more relaxed swing rather than trying to hit it as far as possible. I shall have to rewatch this video in the new year, once I can practice again, as the clubs have been put away now we are close to the Christmas season. Thanks for all the advice and encouragement. Have a good Christmas!
To enable them to hit the ball with a descending blow, most amateur golfers improve their striking of the ball with fairway woods and hybrids by moving the ball further back in their stance - ie nearer to the centre - and from years and years of experience they find that this is the best solution to achieving a good ball flight, as it is much easier than trying to control the bottom of the swing further forward under the lead shoulder whilst at the same time NOT trying to lift the ball into the air.
Perfect timing Danny I was hit and miss with my fairway wood yesterday. Had a good round but could have been even better if not for a couple of duff fairway woods. I must admit I never check my arms are aligned like in your lesson so will do that tomorrow. Thanks as always. Have a great weekend and a very Merry Christmas to you and your family
Good morning Danny. Many thanks for all the great videos and content during the year. Merry Christmas and a prosperous new year to you and your family. Cheers from NL.
Merry Christmas Danny to you and your family. Your lessons have greatly reduced my frustration level with the game, and my blood pressure as a result :)
Danny: I have Mavrik 4 & 5 Fairway woods. They are my favorite clubs and I hit them pretty well. This vid will help a lot, however, especially "assessing the lie." I've started doing that and if I don't have a clean lie, I bring out a hybrid. Thanks for your insights and help. Have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy, Healthy, Golfing New Year!
‘Danny, thank you so much for all of your videos. You are amazing. I have a video series recommendation-What do you do when everything falls apart with your swing and ball striking?” I think we have all been there where one day you go to the driving range and you just can’t hit the ball, and you have no clue what you are doing wrong.
Another great video, easy to understand, I have one problem with fairway woods /3 wood / 5 wood , my launch angle is far to high , from fairway and off the tee, lose bucket loads of distance
@ no real marks on the tops of the club, looking at trackman data I think I’m playing the ball to far forward in my stance, I have the same problem with my mid / short irons , think I need to go back to the beginning and have a complete reset .
Cool video. Could you do a video on ball above/below your feet and ball on uphill/downhill lie? There's so many adjustments to make it gets complicated. Thank you Danny.
Hi Danny! You videos are such a great help! You mention reaching for higher lofter hybrids for poorer lies. I don't have any in my bag but I do carry a 7 wood and a nine wood. Can these be as effective as a hybrid for these tougher lies?
Always remember the club head is naturally heading down towards the ground. You just need to make sure your pelvis and upper body are far enough forward to strike the ball first
All the best for you and your family for Christmas thanks for your infectious coaching to us all ,you certainly resonate with all golfers. As normal your content is first class beers up Danny 👏👏🍻🍻
Who are those lucky students to get one on one lessons qith you?? How can we be part of that lucky .000001%? Love your videos, by far the most helpful I have ever found!!
I’m not sure, I don’t really think about it. I just think momentum. I suppose I want to swing the club head freely and so it stays under some degree of control I use my bigger muscles to take it away
@ thanks. That is so important for me to take away. I’ve been playing well but yesterday was shocking. Thinking way way too much. Thanks and wishing you and your family a wonderful Christmas and a very successful and happy new year.
Problem is most people go the range and hit shots where the ball sits up - then struggle on the real life courses. Lies are always inconsistent - place the ball in the grass and press down to give variable lies - not just sitting up and hit 10 balls like this. Always hit on real grass - over and over again!! Hit 3/4 swing and follow through. Easy as…. If you can’t get on the course - find a local park. No one around between 2-3 so you could hit lots of shots between 150-200 yards shots- no sweet.
Compared to your very smooth back-swing, your arms did a very fast job😂. But of course long and straight shot: perfect 👌 I love your advice about assessing the lie! I still am unable to convince my wife to not hit the woods off a compromised lie😢😂…
Another sound session, I suppose I'm just getting a little "lazy" these days, after all I've been golfing 50 odd year so I walk up to the ball and simply hit it, excepting my swing will be good after all I've seen hundreds of how to set up and hit the bloody thing and AFTER a CRAP result simply accept the result never thing ing I'm commit ing the cardenal sin of not getting set up properly
Another great lesson Danny. Right on message for an 89yr old guy who's been struggling with fairway woods and hybrids. Be well my friend-Russ

That’s exactly it, the harder we try the more tense we become
Love the forearm advice and great to see a lesson that is relevant to the time of year and type of course conditions we are currently experiencing
Pleasure Dave. Wishing you and your family a happy and healthy Christmas and new year
@ likewise Danny. Wishing all the Maude’s a very happy festive period

Absolutely

Alright. I've got my plan for today's sim session 🙌
My 5 wood is my best club often out doing my driver ..and your videos have been a huge part of that thanks danny

At this time of the year in UK winter rules mean you can move the ball if there is a better lie within 6 inches no nearer the pin.
Absolutely, makes things much easier
Good morning Danny. Many thanks for all the great videos and content during the year. Merry Christmas and a prosperous new year to you and your family. Cheers from NL.

Check the top of your clubs Mark, do you see scratch marks?

Great tips Danny. Also, don't forget to shift your weight forward or you'll still top it.
Absolutely 👍
@@DanielMaude I wish you great Holidays and all the best for the new year. Keep up the good work.
Well done Danny i wish you and your family a happy Xmas and la happy golfing new year 😊
And you Roy, thanks for taking the time to comment and feedback this year. I really appreciate it

Brilliant clubs to have in your bag
Great Danny
Can you explain how you hit down on the ball please
Always remember the club head is naturally heading down towards the ground. You just need to make sure your pelvis and upper body are far enough forward to strike the ball first
@DanielMaude thanks Danny need a lesson from the master

@ thanks. That is so important for me to take away. I’ve been playing well but yesterday was shocking. Thinking way way too much. Thanks and wishing you and your family a wonderful Christmas and a very successful and happy new year.
@ oh and that tip about club head for the bottom of the arc. So simple so genius.
Preferred lies in the U.K. in winter or on mats.
It is now Brian, with poor grass growth it’s much needed
You prefer the Mavrik to the Qi10?
Hi Danny.thanks for another great lesson, look forward to more lessons in 2025,
Really appreciate your support this year Steve thank you
R those 5 year old mavrik fairway woods you are hitting Danny? Or is this an old video
So damn pretty! ❤
Glad you enjoyed it Peter

Great advice. But honestly, you rushed the downswing, didn’t you?
Hi there, didn’t feel rushed but appreciate the feedback

I love your advice about assessing the lie! I still am unable to convince my wife to not hit the woods off a compromised lie😢😂…
Why aren’t you teaching posting the left leg, coming down pushing down the left leg which brings your left hip going back?
Danny give me a live lesson on face time please 🙏
Hi Steven, best thing to do is join my online community on dannymaude.com. Let’s get cracking for 2025
I hit my Woods further than my driver, so I dont use it.

Stop?
Let's freaking go 🏌️
All the best Bon
Thanks Danny Merry Christmas 🎄 to you and yours.
