Any chance getting a transom bracket for my Seagull ? I might just make one from a Martin outboard if I can’t find one . Mine has 5 blades on the prop and I think it’s a longer exhaust and drive shaft then that one ?! Any ideas ?
Great Videos- Very well explained. Just bought myself a non running 1975 Silver Century 4.5 HP long shaft, Amal 2 jet carb, Wipac MK2 ignition, Non Clutch version, with the 9" hydro fan propeller ... I'm not getting any spark, so the plan is to remove the flywheel and check the ignition over thoroughly.
I've all the bits off but need some tips on how to get the exhaust pipe off, stuck fast, would be helpfull if you put the socket/spanner size on aswell, maybe set up a playlist for seagull vids. Very helpful site thanks.
+Stuart Burnside hi Stuart , Once the 2 nuts holding the power head to the leg are removed it can be pulled apart . The exhaust tube will stay with the powerhead as it's only a slide fit over the gearbox exhaust port. Thanks for commenting Barry
Very helpful. I’m in the process of tearing down a 40+ and have an issue with the lower end. You pointed me in the right direction (as I have no manuals). Thanks mate!
Good job fella, i watched the video and went down to the shed and split the power head off the 40 plus like a charm. The motor had been sitting on the bottom of a river (salt water tidal river) for a month or more. Its soaking in penetrating oil but came apart with ease, next is to free up the power head and get it all back up and running. Thank you for a great video !
Got to tell you thanks for your uploads they are very helpful In fact they are the best on here I'm sick to death of being deafened by the poxy things running in buckets of water
Ha ha yes they are loud . I'm hoping to do a experimental video in a few weeks of trying to get the noise down with out effecting the performance Thanks for commenting
@@barjhealy get offset spanners ,easy job come up on seagull website for sale new ocassionally, have 7 complete gulls including one from 1950,small short shaft up to full electronic fnr long cent plus with new lighting kit ,thanks for vids.
I have a silver century L/S and I'm having a nightmare trying to separate it from the cylinder block I have managed to take it off the prop end any tips you have would be welcome cheers
Coastal Works the aluminium exhaust tube is stuck in the cylinder block separated everything else was going to leave in turps overnight but will have to get some tomorrow sorry to bother you it was getting on my nerves but I have given up till tomorrow now cheers
Ya it's common enough on those. I've seen some exhausts even stuck to the top of the gearbox. I usually heat up the exhaust where it meets the cylinder block . Get it really hot . Put the block in a vice and catch the end of the exhaust and move it left to right it usually wiggles loose . If not you can use a large flat head screw driver and tap it off the block .clean the block really well and inside the exhaust so it goes back together easily
got my first seagull and watching your videos as intended to just service it, now stripped down the water ports blocked solid, followed your way and they are perfect now, when i took the exhaust pipe off there seems to be a lot of oil (black) around the water pipe area is this normal

Hi. Great video again - very helpful.
What would you suggest if, after removing the holding bolt, the exhaust pipe won't budge?

Great video, actually shows how to do things whereas most dont, I have been slowly taking one apart but it might be too far gone.
