What a great explanation of the DCT on the GT500. I'm very new to the car and I have to say this video was very eye opening to the capabilities of the transmission. Car is an absolute blast to drive... my girlfriend loves it too! Headed to Charlotte Speedway later this month for the GT500 track day. Can't wait to drive one of these on a race track.
Question for you guys, any help or clarification is appreciated. I have a 2020 grabber lime gt500… regarding the downshifts, when you hold the left paddle To get it into the lowest possible gear say for example if you are roll racing, After you do that and punch it will the car automatically shift itself like it would a normal Drive mode or will you have to continue to use the paddles? I don’t want to try it and hit the Revlimiter at full acceleration. Thank you!
When in manual mode you have to use the paddles....but no worries it designed to hit the rev limiter...and being on the track with Dan Maxwell ..it works quite well..
@@TheShad0wKiller ha ha! I know Dan Maxwell, green track pack car out in Arizona? So essentially what my concern was is that it will hit the rev limiter and shift on its own correct? I just don’t want to bounce off the revlimiter and stay there.
Great car no doubt! Not saying that DCT isn’t an engineering marvel it sure is! You don’t need to sell it that hard or insult manual transmissions we get it it shifts fast! If you are a marketing manager you should understand when it comes to feeling connected to the car there is no beating a manual. Also, are you really trying to convince me that Caroll Shelby would agree with you ? What’s next Caroll Shelby would be in love with an electric motor! Because ya know there is no need shifting electric motors at all! The sole of Mustang is in the way you feel when you drive it. I know that the future of the automobile is technology. (Electronic shifting/Electric motors and all that) But you are taking too many liberties with your comments on the “Shelby!”name. Which is pure legend! If Ford is not going offer only an auto option, that’s cool (no explanation needed). Just don’t tell me Shelby wouldn’t want to sell a manual option because you don’t know that for sure do you? I know many Mustang fans that would enjoy it! This video is kind of a “Marketing fail!” But not as bad Mach-E name by Ford ;-) it should have been the Explorer-E it’s a freaking SUV after all I love the GT350 greatest car Ford Performance produced to date in my humble opinion! Sorry to be so harsh! Just giving a customer’s view point!
Most of Caroll’s personal cars were fitted with automatics just for him. When they were sold off they were converted to 4 speeds. But your onto something about feeling the car with a manual. Why not go further and take away power steering and brakes and use roll up windows for maximum feel.
Got stuck in traffic my first day w mine. Wish i knew this ahead of time. Shifts were a lil chunky after traffic broke up (like 30 mins later) but evened out after i put it in drive (from manual) and let it run for a few. Anyone ever get that?
An entire video to try and tell me why I should be happy there's no manual option. And I still don't believe I'm going to enjoy an automatic quite the same.
On the racetrack? The comparatively few people who take this car to the track know perfectly well that it isn’t the fastest thing there. People buy this car for fun, not racing. Making it without a stick option was a fiscal decision. I won’t buy this car because it only comes as an automatic.
“Fiscal decision” you understand you can buy 10 manuals for the price of one dct. It’s better, more efficient, newer, technology. Engineering is about progression and your stuck in the stone ages😂
@@marcog6470ya that guy is just looking for reasons to complain about it cuz he can't afford it. Lol not the fastest thing there. Only if he's driving.
It's literally the same internals as a manual. IT HAS NO TORQUE CONVERTER. Do u have ears? Or anything between them? I bet u think a 45 is still the best option for ccw too right 😂😂
Very helpful video for us shelby owners, thanks
New owner. Answered a lot of questions. Thank you!!!

Very informative, ty. But, is no one gonna mention the choice of thumbnail lol?
Actually learned a couple things I didn't know about my 2021, cool
Ford/SVT really thought a lot about this car during its development. Tremec ftw. This car is soooooo sik!
What a great find, thanks! I gotta say, that DCT upshifts like Thor's hammer! It NEVER gets old, what a 'marvel' of engineering she is.
Thanks! That answers so many questions about my new car.
Very helpful!
Don't have one but definitely a lot of interesting info
Wow didn’t know some of this things about the car. Awesome
Thank you guys
I'm a manual guy but this transmission sounds pretty cool.
Great video

@@TheShad0wKiller most definitely!! 👍🏻
does the GT500 have rev matching ??
Yes it does, have one
What is the normal temp for the GT500 DCT it should run ?
120 in normal driving
I have learned a lot
Where can I get Jeff's polo? Callaway + Shelby GT500 + Snake + Mustang? Dream shirt.

Transmission is great, fix those stupid lines that keep failing. 😐

I absolutely can afford it. But why the fuck would I spend $100k or more on a car that doesn’t have the basic features I want?
