- Unboxing the Motorola Moto G50, one of the cheapest budget 5G smartphones of 2021, including full specs, a camera tour and gaming test. I've reviewed quite a few affordable handsets lately and while the Moto G50 has a super-low price, the 720p display doesn't compare to many rivals. Phones like the Oppo A54 5G and Redmi Note 10 5G serve up a FHD screen, so video streamers and gamers can enjoy sharp visuals.
However, Motorola does deliver a clean Android 11 experience, which is definitely a good thing, complete with worthy bonus features like face unlock and gesture control. Plus the Moto G50's gaming tools are great news for PubG or CoD Mobile fans. That Snapdragon 480 chipset can handle games no worries, even fast-paced online shoot 'em ups. And the 5000mAh battery is good enough to keep you going all day even with intensive use.

Just got mine. I love it. Nice big screen. Probably the best thing is its battery life. I got fed up with my old Sony z5 premium constantly over heating and constantly running flat. Breath of fresh air. No bells and whistles, it's just a phone.
Ever do Camera tests? Or just talk about them? No disrespect, I think you should include a photo and video segment of actual footage from the device. All the best to you. Peace
I had the g4, now i have the g6 plus. Still going strong, not thinking of switching phones but its fun to see that Motorola still have the stock android plus the wonderful features like the torch 👍. Just having the stock android on this phone makes it the perfect fit for me.
Great looks like Motorola has started reducing the sizes of their phones and I love it. I generally like the look of this phone it is pretty.

Cheap Motorola phone are great. Im using a moto g5 Plus and i love this phone. Great Hardware, clear stock android and reasonable price. The only downside is no 2 or 3 year OS update.
Every phone is large for years we are used to it
I, for one, need a few more years to fully get used to it. But then, we might just revert back to smaller screens by that time, hopefully.

Thank for your comments on the Motorola G50. for me who just wants something to make phone calls and be entertained by its great however i do understand people who want a phone that does everything , they must look at a higher budget.
I've got one and it's fantastic, very fast processor and great speakers, battery life is one of the best, very easy to set up, large screen and easy to use apps, able to use 5g although not many places have 5g what's not to like

In principle, you can get along wonderfully with this phone and get through everyday life, where a high-end smartphone has long been out of breath.
I think it sucks when people judge something they only know through a video and didn't even have in their hands.

Good review, but would be useful to see how the 5G performs too - do you get decent download speed, or is it a bit hobbled. Seems like 5G performance in mobile phones varies, so getting a feel for what it's like would be useful. Cheers!

i brought this phone for nostalgia reasons last time i had a moto it was a Motorola razr flip phone thinking about this makes me feel very old...... also its 1080p screen not 720p mate so guessing that was a mistake or they upgraded the screen mid manufacture cause double checked and i definitely brought the g50

I just picked one up and i am watching this video on it right now. Got it for under 110 pounds new. I'd say it is the best and cheapest phone i have ever had. Gonna use it daily from now on. Amazing piece of tech! I highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a budget phone with all the gimmicks. Also the screen resolution doesn't bother me the least, picture is crisp and clear with all the detail and color you need from a smartphonescreen.

It continues to drive me crazy that about any budget phone plays COD mobile on mid to high settings and because my LG velvet uses mediatek I'm capped at the lowest settings in the game.

is the Motorola G50 better than the Motorola G30?
The Moto G50 has the Snapdragon 480 5G which is pretty much the same as the Snpadragon 720.
The main camera of the G50 should also be better than the camera of the G30.

watching on my Moto g10. I just upgraded from a Moto g5s. The screen isn't as sharp and bright but battery life is waaay better

I'm still waiting for Motorola to make a worthy replacement for my g7 plus, which has gorilla glass front and back, 27 watt charging and is a reasonable size.
Get the G9 plus. 30W charger out of the box, 64mp camera with ultra wide lens, (not OIS though). Not sure about the gorilla glass but the price is quite reasonable , the perfomance is one million times better than yours and the battery life outlasts yours at least by one day easily and last but not least you have 128GB of storage either with 4GB or 6GB of RAM.

I still have my lovely Motorola g7 plus, such a good budget phone. And like you said is an reasonable size. G7 plus in my opinion is the perfect size for an smartphone. I dont get why every phone now is so big TOO BIG?

good battery, cheap, 5g, not camera focused, solid build, not loaded with bloat apps, sounds like the perfect replacement for my Xperia Z5

Macro lenses allow you to focus much closer to the object (less than 2cm). You simply can't do that with the primary lens at all.
I use it a lot more to focus small text i can't see. For me is more useful than an ultra wide lens.
And this one has a 5MP macro lens you can get really good macros.
This phone is amazing. An full hd panel would have the cherry at the top of the cake.
It's almost a stock Android experience on all Motorola models BUT YES👍with very nice useful Moto extras which I really love makes Motorola much better than Nokia phones without any extras. Nokia should quit boring Android One. Exactly same UI on 70 - 500 € Nokia phones makes absolutely no sense. That is their own made problem which killed Nokia flagships. A Nokia flagship phone with same UI as on a Nokia 2.4 for 70€ wow! No wonder they will never make a flagship again. I would want to like Nokia more as I'm a Finn. The thing with Motorola phones is the fingerprint sensor is not very forgiving. If I’ve been handling pallets or anything with a rough surface I’ll have to redo my fingerprints sometimes twice a day. Constantly cleaning the sensor. This was much less of a problem in Sony phones. There’s nothing wrong with the sensor though; If I have time off work it works flawlessly. It’s best to set up the five fingerprints with just the one finger which gives it more of a chance to register especially if you have working hands.

And so to the phone.
It's perfectly adequate, even boasting this year's must have - 5G. It would definitely cope with everything that I use my phone for on a daily basis.
Downsides, for me, are 720p and single speaker.
The problem is that I have far too many phones (I'm old and I get bored easily, live with it) for someone who isn't a reviewer and this just doesn't bring anything to the table that I don't already have.

Why bother? You said do yourself, it’s perfectly adequate. The main reason though, is price. £21 monthly unlimited. There’s no way I’m getting mugged off by Apple for something that clearly isn’t worth the boutique price they want. It’s odd how some people are dying to shed nearly a grand for a status symbol that spends most of the time in the£ pocket.

I have has two Motorola phones G3 very poor storage and problems with using micro SD expandable memory, unable to move most apps etc over. & G5 had slightly better storage, but the WIFI was glitchy and kept switching off, so I have a real downer on Motorola phones.
how can the G30 be faster when the chipset is clearly inferior and all the benchmarks show this ? is it because 662 is a bigger number than 480 ? I do hope not.
