Despite being the most budget of the new Moto blowers, this handset boasts a headphone jack, microSD memory card support and the biggest battery of the trio. Performance is stripped-back, so gamers are better served elsewhere - although the Moto Edge 20 Lite can handle some PubG etc. As for the camera tech, you once again have a 108MP sensor, although the photo and video chops aren't as premium.
Hoping to do a full real-world test soon, but for now what do you reckon? Is the Edge 20 Lite a proper rival to the Redmi Note 10 Pro, OnePlus Nord CE 5G and other affordable smartphones?

After watching this, i went and bought the Motorola Edge 20 Lite. So far, I had no problems. Works a bit faster than the Motorola G30 which is now my back up phone. I use it mostly at work. I listen to music, sometimes radio. Other times spotify. Very good phone. A good all rounder.

Yet another solid first look by Mr Spurt.
The phone itself seems to be a well balanced phone for someone of my generation (think geriatric, old n creaky), big screen, big battery, no excessive bloatwear and you don't get hammered by built in ads. Decent rather than scintillating performance with the appeal boosted by a headphone jack and expandable memory.
Boring, bland, and eminently forgettable.
I might have finally decided on what to do for my 73rd. Living in the shadow of brands it's got to be a 'supercar' experience. Instruction by a professional driver, laps round the circuit, then a lap as a passenger with said professional who's doing his/her best to scare the c**p out of you! What more could a Gangsta Granny ask for?

Amazing big OLED screen which looks fabulous even looking from here 👍 I believe Motorola has a winner here and a deserved one too. Great almost stock android with some neat great extras which we all love to have (Nokia which I also still like has no extras at all👎 no Dolby Armos either which comes on Motorola phones)
I think this is the best of the 3 big battery the jack micro SD card great screen stock Android good cams and average price if it only has dual or stereo speakers all in all great work 👍

Got my Edge 20 lite a week ago from John Lewis as they had it on offer for £269 and I got a further £20 off as there was a store card promo as well. Really pleased with it and I was a bit worried about the camera as various reviews said the hardware was good but the software AI processing wasn't great. I noticed during set-up the phone had a couple of camera updates that related to "camera tuning" and "quality improvements". From what I've seen so far I'm pretty happy with the camera and the rest of the phone.

Camera isn't up to Samsung standard but I've found it ok ... decided on battery over camera...it's been charged this morning and bed time I'm still on 24%
Takes less then 20 minutes to charge to 55% as on charge now
@@graceonline320 I'm still very happy with it. There's been another recent software update for the camera AI and the camera is still pretty good for me. In most situations it does a good job of giving a decent picture although the Pixel 4a would still be a better bet if a camera was your number one priority as they've really got their camera software sorted . I find the battery life pretty good, it'll easily last a day with lots of use, the screen is really nice but can struggle in really bright sunligth. Also the storage is pretty good and that was the thing that swung me away from the Pixel 4a. The John Lewis thing was a promo I spotted online which only lasted a few days, always worth keeping an eye out for them. On my purchase Motorola even gave away a set of Verve 800 earbuds so overall a good deal.

No toggle to change the gesture back button to right hand side on Samsung you get the option of position...but the gesture control..edge is quite responsive if not tricky to get used to

You don't have lots of apps clogging your home screen as the 4 recently used apps pop up along the bottom .. brilliant idea!! As I hate a crowded home screen!

Been using mine for the past year and it's awsome ! Cod runs so smooth on it and after downloading nova launcher, well, its butter smooth all round. Came from a Samsung s8 plus and this beats it hands down for power. Its also worth downloading an always on display as well, low power consumption and also works a treat ! Defo recommend 😊

Looking at this as my next phone.
Here in Canada was a BIG fan of Motorola back in 2019/20 being more than happy enough with my G7, and 2020 G Power/Stylus. Even OK with their support cuz these things were cheap. 2021 though has turned out to be a very mixed bag especially here in Canada, enough so I've lost all interest in the brand. Yeah the Edge 20 Series appeals slightly yet when considering price points (2-4 more than my present Moto's), and an offering of an additional letter upgrade but same 2-years of bi-monthly security patches. Naw not much enticement there IMHO to jump back onboard.
You mentioned that this phone was only about 250 UK pounds. However, when I look at Amazon for the UK I'm finding it closer to 370 US dollars versus 320 US dollars, which is equivalent to the 250 UK pounds. Is there a Samsung equivalent with great battery life omelette screen 5G connectivity, that you can recommend, that would be closer to my U.S.$300 limit?

I’ve got the Edge 20 Fusion which is pretty much the same as the Lite except for the SoC which is the Dimensity 800U instead of the Lite’s Dimensity 720. Mine only cost me $249 at JB Hi-Fi.

The Snapdragon is much faster but i didn't notice much difference in daily use. The edge 20 lite is fast enough for me. The mediatek scores about 200000 points in antutu the Snapdragon 300000
Great camera if you know how to use it, by default all aspect frame ratios have min MP to save storage so you will need to increase them for each frame for some to most cases...Android 12 enhances video.... and it has super loud good q speaker . Great phone.
Hey man, I am from India and bought this phone because of your reviews. I follow you from recombu days. This phone has a big problem. Since it is a big phone fingerprint gets touched a lot by right hand and that swipes down notification. I am not able to use them. What do I do?
Google offering a Pixel 4a for £279 today, really tempted but wanted to check your full review on the Edge 20 lite camera performance as that's my other choice.
My husband's Google has a terrible green tinge to it he won't let me see if I can change the hue ..it's the Google 2 thou....

would you recommend a G60 or a Edge 20lite? I currently have a G8 Plus and am starting to notice it has slowed down. Just for every day use, no gaming.
Egg 20 lite. More RAM and better processor. Better camera too. I think all of that is worth the 80 extra quid
Also, I’m using the moto g7 plus and it’s fine for me.
@@angycucumber4319 Im on the g7 plus and it hit a brick wall at 24 months old, very laggy suddenly. Hopefully it keeps going for you as its a great phone
I'm in the same position as you with the g8 plus, it's slowed down quite a lot, and I don't really game on it at all

If you’re thinking still now.. I can say that currently on the moto website the Edge 20 lite is 200£ only up to 14th august some sort of offer. Personally I’d have the Pixel 6a if You have the budget or possibly some other option since the Moto can be obscure in terms of service, this also affects the software, it only gets 1 or 2 years of updates!!

It does but only mirracast as far as I know, not the full experience - check their site it'll tell you

@@angycucumber4319 bad for a flagship maybe 🤣 but we are talking about a midranger and Dimensity 720 is on the level of Snapdragon 690 which is good, so don't go expecting SD 870 or something every time, be more realistic...

Frankly speaking a52 hardwares wise is awesome and Motorola software wise.
I think in my opinion you can look for S20FE it is better in every field than a52s. Or you can wait for s21fe will launch in October.
Very lagging when scrolling at times...only had it 3 days,but decided I can see past that...for a better battery and a change of scene,was getting bored of Samsungs image..

I am so confused between Motorola edge 20 lite and Samsung galaxy a52s 5g 😥can anyone advise which one is better any advice is really appreciated.
I had the edge 20 lite but I dropped the phone and broke it. Fortunately I had insurance which compensated me and I went ahead and bought a52s. However, I'm now returning my a52s and will probably buy another edge 20 lite (waiting for black Friday promo).
A52s has a more powerful processor, better camera and better display. In terms of day-to-day performance both were similar. However the deal-breaker for me was that the A52s has an under display fingerprint scanner which is infuriatingly slow and unreliable. It also has a smaller battery. I also hated the many Samsung bloatware apps.
I love Motorola's clean Android software. My only complaint is that Motorola will generally only update its phones for max 1-2 years. I think Samsung has promised to update the A52s for at least 4 years. It depends what compromises you are willing to make!
What would your choice be between the nord CE 5G and this one?
Can you please help, I bought the Moto Edge 20 Lite and in the options for Preferred Network Type, it's only coming up as 4G. I do have a 5G Sim but can't seem to find how to change it.

I finally got mine! Thank you for your review! I love it so far, especially in my Lagoon Green colour! I am still adjusting to it and have a couple of questions; I cannot find "double tap to wake" function for lockscreen - does it have any? Can notification panel be swiped down using home button? You can swipe from anywhere on the screen on home screen, but not on other apps - you have to reach for it. Also, for unlocking with fingerprint it asks for fingerprint AND pattern/pin - can it be just fingerprint and swipe up? Thank you, once again! ☺️
I just got the phone same color as you, honestly I'm a bit disappointed with the camera pales in comparison to the Moto one hyper, and maybe it's just me but if I shake the phone there is a Little rattle coming from the camera, I honestly don't know if it's defected or if it's normal
@@Alex-gc1ht hmm... Not sure about the rattle, but I am vey disappointed with camera too - don't know what to do now 😭 It's quite noisy and blurry and don't get me started about low light. I heard people mentioned some G-cam (?), But I couldn't find it. Does anyone know how to improve your it?
I just cover all basis I've put in 3 different finger prints...turn off pattern security in settings but kept pin for emergencies incase your finger gets chopped off 🤣
If I tap mine twice it shows time...I've not seen an actual settings...I can't get messages to show on lockscreen without needing bubble...but peek a boo mode works just as well x

Only the processor in this case. I think the plastic build is more an advantage because it's less prone to breakage

Come from a Reno 4z - I absolutely love my edge 20 lite, for the price it literally ticks all the boxes! , The dimensity 720 chip set is absolutely perfect for everyday use! Cut me open and I'll look like a Motorola stick of rock ! Haha

You missed it's a 10bit oled panel.
This one has so many advantages over the other two edge phones. Only the processor is a downgrade.

I've always been a Moto man loved the g series but my g7 broke before the g8 was due out but not to long away so i end Up just using my work phone at the time which was a Huawei p30 lite! Help me please. Which? Samsung A52s or Moto Edge 20 lite? Both are similar price here in the U.S. Battery life is the most important consideration.

I considered the a52 and realised . A52 would be £32 on contract for what I wanted or get this for £269 and keep my £10 pm phone bill!! £409 seems pretty steep...3 store told me a32 is just as good if not better!

Why they called EDGE when it's not a curved screen?
This review is one of more decent, most of reviewers have done complete injustice to this phone by not having any at all skills in photography...not even on level of amateur regular user. It almost turned me off, but now after all I get great photos with this model without touching into PRO mode.

I hope the current Moto devaluation metrics remain. The Edge 20 pro would be a fantastic buy in a year's time.
The only advatage it has is the battery and headphone jack...Everything else on the standard edge and edge pro is much much better.
