    Dude, I can NOT emphasize enough how long it's been I've seen an old-school educational tech video of this quality of production... Simple (as should be, it's youtube), but very well done in its format... Not going to tell you what you do, because well it takes time to make these, but I'm down for more documentaries like these. Kind regards

    I think
    .. the browser is so good. It's split view and file management in one is useful.

    Hey, I really appreciate your work. I just read Ken Kocienda's book about Apple engineering and was wondering what Konquerer was like. It is really crazy that Apple bootstrapped Safari off of this browser + I hadn't known that Google also based Chrome off of WebKit + that Safari also spawned each browser process off into it's own tab (I remember when Chrome did this). Thanks for the history lesson!

    Okay....Loved the video!! Good style, no wasted words, the fact that you used a ThinkPad for the shot. I just subed. Can't wait to see what's next.

    • @DistrosProjects
      @DistrosProjects  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! Fun fact, the reason why I used the ThinkPad instead of VM footage is because I couldn’t get X11 to work in a VM due to difficult configuration. You practically have to be a rocket scientist to get old versions of X11 to work on VMs, but on real hardware with supported GPUs it works out of the box.

    Khtml might be dead but konq uses Web Engine now and its great.
    You can always change the view mode and even add more using kparts.

    So, I guess, when people say that chrome is the father of most browsers, the Konqueror is the grandfather of all modern browsers.

    7:08 Wait, I thought Konqueror still uses KHTML today. Am I wrong?
    Speaking of Chromium's dominance, I don't think it's as bad as you think. Chromium is open source, so someone can always create hard fork on Chromium if they need to. There are currently no browsers that are hard forks of Chromium, but that doesn't mean nobody will create a hard fork in the future. Also, Safari is gaining market share, and it is more popular than it's ever been before. There is nothing to worry about.

    By the way if you know anything about the opensource Game porting toolkit you'll know apple's patches are megabyte sized single files.
    Apple is a terrible company to work with in opensource
