I'm watching this on Firefox for Android right now. Back in 2016 the Android version was terrible, so I went to Edge instead. I still use Edge on Android, but Firefox is actually amazing now on Android. Extensions make the experience far better, especially browser scripts. I love it.

oh man, great video!! the TH-cam algorithm introduced me to Ubuntu... I was watching video's on how to JailBreak my 2009 iPhone when I clicked on an Ubuntu video! I got hooked from there on out! KARMIC KOALA!!!

Linux Mint is Ubuntu without the bad bits and it's what I prefer. ;-)

My first Ubuntu was 9.04 - Jaunty Jackalope. I loved that system! Then I discovered the Compiz packages. That just blew my mind. Everything was great. Until Unity. Hated it. It just wasn't intuitive for me. I do know people who liked it. Finally left after the 2nd Unity distro. I wanted my Gnome environment back. I decided to give Ubuntu another go in 2019. Snaps. I'm out. I still use Linux. I have no desire to go back to Windows. Mostly because I can tweak Linux to suit me better. Ubuntu was my introduction to Linux. And for that I am forever grateful. But I've moved on. And frankly, I found UbuntuForums to be so much more useful that StackOverflow.

This video shows me how quickly things are going in the Ubuntu world. Every 5 years or so, they introduce some drastic changes that initially spark controversy, but get loved by users later on. To me, Ubuntu was always a strong pillar in the ever changing Linux world, but this video demonstrated how futile it actually is.

Ubuntu has no downfall, it is still better than using Windows or the other crystal shit.

All I can remember is how unstable it was. Put me off Linux for life. That and how inferior the software was when compared with the Windows equivalents.

Ubuntu's werid Desktop choices are why I use Linux Mint. It takes the solid foundation of ubuntu that made it great from the early days, ditches gnomes identity crisis of a desktop, removes Canonicle's snap fapping and replaces it all with a clean, traditional UI with all the easy to use benefits, the way it should have been done. I guess you could call Mint "Ubuntu done right"

I used to install OpenBSD 7 on iBook G3, the video driver for Radeon does not work and always ends up with striped screen; I has to disable the video driver in kernel in order to see the command line; I thought the ATI chip should be more compatible than nVidia in BSD/Linux world, apparently it was not true for the ibook in my hand.

No word.about addons and the disruptive changes that happened over the years? Popularity of FF was all about certain addons for many users. When their addons broke, they turned away. And so did the addon devs.

I was using Ubuntu since 9.04 in both home and professional environments. I dodged the Unity controversy by switching to the XFCE after the Gnome 2 era, but they lost me a couple years ago when they started shoehorning snaps everywhere.

I was a Debian user, and suddenly I became seduced when they promise to send CDs to my house, and a total lover when they ACTUALLY did it. For real. For free. And now, after 20 years (well, after OSX, and Windows, and Fedora, Manjaro, Neon, Fedora again, Ubuntu, and Fedora again again), I came back. Because.

Any Powerpc mac?!?!? Well well the PB5300 will immediately spook you out with that ear piercing church chime. I have tried the tutorial on my iBook G4/1.22 and it failed nicely...Sometimes it WOULD go thru all of that adelie or lubuntu verbose text and then crash...OR wont be dectected in OF at all. And the hd died on that too...and replacing that will be a total nightmare

Firefox's golden age is long gone but it's still a decent browser, open-source and privacy oriented. And i'm impressed at how they butchered the Firefox icon over the years. On the bright side, the ETP improved.

Not many newbies are competent enough to open terminal and run commands immediately. Accessible, available with all apps you need to perform tasks needed by common man, sorry, person/entity. Easy to install, easy to use, easy to understand and versatile; Ubuntu is what much of the Linux universe is not: It is the gateway into the Linux universe for many and help people on the way in case they want to investigate Linux further. Nothing of the ubiquitious exclusive snobbery apparent within parts of the community. And last but not least all the available sources of support on the www for the novice Ubuntu(Linux) users. Criticism may be pertinent in some of the aspects, but the benefits Ubuntu opens to people’s understanding of FOSS outweighs the con’s.😊

For me personally when Ubuntu killed unity that's when Ubuntu died for me. A couple years ago I tried Ubuntu again when it started using gnome again and I was very disappointed and angry like I tried to drag some files out of a folder to the desktop and it didn't allow me to do that. Like WHAT?!. Edit: Still like Ubuntu tho, but it feels the best version of Ubuntu is dead. Nowadays I use Windows and MacOS but if I was to use Linux again I think I would go with kde plasma, kde neon or even try that Ubuntu unity disto (tho I heard it was buggy so I might just wait a few years to see it fleshed out)
