- In this video we share our experience of taking puppy Olive to the vet to get her spayed. It was a difficult decision as we didn't want her to go through pain but in the end we felt it was the right decision for her overall health and future. As this was when the pandemic hit, and vet schedules being swamped, we weren't able to get her in sooner than we wanted so she did go through one heat cycle as shown in our previous video. The spay procedure took approx. 1hr. including preparation and anesthesia. We were provided dog pain medications by the vet to help manage the pain after spay and a cone to put around her head as the wound heals to prevent her from biting and licking the surgical area.
Spaying is known to help prevent uterine infections and breast tumors, which are malignant or cancerous in about 50% of dogs. Though traditional age for spaying is 6-9 months, there is no age limit for spaying your dog as long as it's healthy. After spaying, behavior is said to be more level and consistent.

So brave Olive. It’s a right decision called tough love. But healthy and keeping humanity. Too much abandon dogs need help as well. Olive is a very lucky gal and let’s share some with other unfortunate ones.

Yes, Olive is adorable and her speech and voice is perfect for her. She makes me smile in this very difficult time of my life. Olive is presented as kind and intelligent. Perhaps she could do some classes in manners classes or get approved to do some therapy work or just give small good bags or a blanket ect yo homeless , street people. A cute mask could be designed for her and she could do something generous and loving even with children at a school or child center to help us all feel more love in our sad world

Hello I recently got my wheaten terrier spayed and shes almost to her 2 week mark! I have a question though once Olive hit her 2 weeks did you let her play hard? After my dog heals im going camping and im taking my dog with I just want to know if other owners let there dogs play hard after the 2 week mark! Ty :D

Hello, we kept Olive indoors for 2wks as she tends to get overly excited when she is outside🐾
Did the shaved part effect for the surgery and will it need to be done in order for the surgery to go ahead? We are planning on spaying our puppy
Our vet shaved one of her front leg -this is for IV insertion and her abdomen from sternum to groin~ Fur grows back after time so no worries there🤗 I'd advise u to ask your vet if there's any preparation u need to make for your puppy before surgery🐾

It cost us $330 for us, but exact cost would differ depending on your location and vet. The recommended age is at least 6 months old and likely older for larger dogs.🐾

Hello~ This video was actually taken the day of Olive's spay so you can see she was very quiet, loss of appetite and mobility for couple days with medication but she recovered well and lively like she was before🤗

Why did you let her go through puberty just to take that function away? She went through a rough couple of months just so she could get the only thing that affected taken away. Also, human girls can get cancer in that area, does that mean they are forced to get the human equivalent of “spayed” against their will, knowing they will go through tons of pain? No! And you gave her a major surgery that wasn’t required for her immediate health and all she knows is she’s in pain. She doesn’t know why, all she knows is she hurts a lot and now won’t be able to pass on her genes. How do you think pets exist?
You can't judge them. They love their dog so much. I am pretty sure they have thought a lot what is best for their dog. Do you have a dog? You don't get your dog spayed then.
Going through puberty (one or two heat cycles) allows their hormones to come into play that will strengthen bone mass a bit more. The spay will decrease some cancer risks. There are a lot of puppies in this world who need adopting. The SPCA’s and other organizations are chock-full of animals (ie: potential pets as you say)... that did have genes passed along. Many or most end up euthanized. That is a much bigger shame than a dog not passing along their genetics. Olive is a loved animal with conscientious doggie parents.
