Just discovered your channel. We used the inflatable donut made by Kong. Our Cavapoo, who by the way looks like Sophie, had no issues sleeping and no crying. She could eat, drink and do everything without removing the donut. A worthwhile investment. The cones of shame are cheap and old fashion, and all vets seem to issue them. The assistant at the vet was extremely happy when we picked up our dog with the donut to use instead of the cone.

I love hearing about other options for post surgery recovery. I would have definitely loved to try out something different, like an inflatable collar, if it meant Sophie would have been able to relax and sleep better. Sophie's my very first puppy so I'm learning a lot as we grow together, thanks for the recommendation.

My vet told me most dogs actually do not need to have a cone on, and to only use one if they are biting/pulling at the staples. Its okay if they lick it, and it can actually help it heal faster. I did not use a cone on either of my scotties and they were fine! We were going on walks again 5 days later.

In year 2019, i.e in January 15th my parents brought my pure German Shepherd pup. At three days my puppy was crying...so my mother put her in the kitchen for night.

Oh no! Try giving your vet a call and see if they can give you any information or support for you and your puppy.
